CSWS - How did they discover it?

Pistachio - At least you know why he's been so difficult. I think S might have another tooth on the way - he had ridiculously hot cheeks this evening.

ronshar · 23/11/2009 21:14

Back again.

Pepper, yay faith in human kindness has been restored. I love it when people put stuff where you can find it. I had a lady drive down the road after me following one of W shoe throwing episodes!!!

CSWS. I dont want to rain on your parade but to be honest I started being tired around 10 weeks and I am still tired now. Lets hope D starts to regularly sleep through before you get to the point where you cant sleep, around 28 weeks for me.
The third pregnancy was def the most exhausting for me and I worked full time through both DDs. DD1 on the wards nursing, DD2 out on the ambulance until 17 weeks, then shift work up in red base answering the 999 calls. This last pregnacy is the only one I havent worked in and I was knackered.

Myjob you are a wonderful mummy. And so are you Pistachio. Just because you dont spend your whole time fully involved in everything your DC do, does not make you a bad mummy.

I am quite happy for people to come to me. I will need notice so I can clean especially if Star or Jenwa come round.
Whenever, I am always in

ronshar · 23/11/2009 21:20

CSWS, hey it's no tthe end of the world. Only the best people have Stigmatism. I have heard that glasses make one look very distinguished.

ronshar · 23/11/2009 21:41

I forgot to say I wouldnt touch the Swine Flu jabs with a barge pole and I most certainly wont be giving it to any of my children.

ronshar · 23/11/2009 21:41

On my own then

Eye test was routine because dh had crappy eyes as a child.

My laptop has been taken over by dh, so just a quickie!

I'm here too. I meant to say earlier yay W for the walking! I bet he's not walking, having seen that boy move I bet he's actually running! Surely walking is too slow for W. I am getting forgetful in my dotage.

CSWS - Most people have astigmatism to some degree, hopefully his can be treated with eye drops but if he needs glasses, he's so young he'll get used to them very quickly.

Pistachio - My mum wasn't a playing on the floor, doing toddlery things type of mum when we were young, DH's mum was though. Now, as adults, DH is closer to my mum than he is his own, my mum is one of my best friends (so lame & cliche but really, she is) and my brother is also very close to her. Plus she is a playing board games, playing with toys but not rolling around on the floor Granny & my dc love her as much as they love me!

I am not letting my DC have the flu jab either.

Ekka · 23/11/2009 22:19

Sorry for the late responses - we've just got a new computer and dh has hogged it trying to get it all set up. It does mean that I've forgotten most of what I've read

I'm really pleased for your news 50ft, you must feel so relieved.

Pistachio - I'm sorry you are feeling down at the moment. Doing the whole SAHM thing is hard, hard work. Much harder than I expected it would be. I adore my kids, but they are demanding at this stage. And we are lucky that dd goes to a childminder for one day a week so I do get a small let-up to help my sanity....

CSWS, sorry to hear about D's eyes. Lets hope its just a monitoring case (though I have to admit that secretly I think little kids in glasses do look extra cute, but I wouldn't wish that on him)

So ds seems to have lost his appetite and found a horse's appetite... He just eats and eats, and finally he is able to go into a forward facing seat. He was ready as he spent all the time in his rear-facing seat craning his neck round to look at me - ouch! He was thrilled when he was put in his new seat today

Ronshar - dh is booked in for his swine flu jab as he has severe asthma, is there any reason I should be scared?

Prob way TMI, but the kids and I have all suffered from a mild upset tummy for over a week now. Its on-off though, not all the time so I'm not sure what on earth it can be. Dd has a cold, but I'm not sure they're related.... Do you medical types have any ideas as to what it could be? I don't think I want to see the doc as its nothing too serious, but it has been going on a while....

Got to dash as dh needs the computer again....

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/11/2009 22:26

they allow a reading of up to 1 for astigmtism being nothing to worry about 50ft, but ds got 1.75 in one eye and 2.25 in other. Ah well, hospital appt won't be for a couple of months at least, so nothing I can do in the meantime.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/11/2009 01:35

ooh - unusual for me to have been the last post.
I have a poor screechingly hysterical boy at the moment

OP posts:
aubergenie · 24/11/2009 06:48

Ronshar's right CSWS - All the best people wear glasses! Seriously though, I hope it's just regular monitoring he needs for the time being. Did you just go to the opticians?

Yes, Ronshar what is it about the flu jab that puts you off it for your dcs? Would you have taken it if you were still working in hospital?

ronshar · 24/11/2009 10:34

I was supposed to be haveing an early night but ended up reading the web chat with DaviD Cameron from last week. 12.30 I turned off my light. Silly girl.

I have decided not to have or let the Dc have the jab because quite frankly it doesnt stop you getting pig flu just makes it slightly less severe!!. There is now Tamiflu resistant pig flu and it wont be long before they tell us that the jab is ineffective as well. I saw on the news last night that the jab that is being given now has been withdrawn for pregnant women and replaced by a different one! Over fears about the chemical used to facilitate the active ingredient. It is the massive lack of testing that I dont trust.
If it was something that was 100% designed to prevent you catching it like TB, Small pox, Menigitis etc then I wouldnt have a problem at all.
All the people I know who have had it have been ill for up to a week afterwards. Same as Pig Flu then really.

ronshar · 24/11/2009 10:40

Ekka. I would consider it in your DH case as Pig flu does attack those with weak chest harder than those without. So I would probably recommend having it.
There are also lots of nasty tummy bugs going around at the moment. As long as you are keeping everyones fluids up and the poo is fairly normal looking [gross] then I wouldnt worry too much. We have had something similiar for at least the past month on and off. Nasty.

50ft. W is trying to run which is why he falls over so much. So far this week we have had to blood injuries. One bruised lip and several bites of the tongue. He still gets up smiling and starts trying to go too fast again.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/11/2009 13:08

I can't find anything on the bbc site about the withdrawal for pregnant women ronshar - do you have a link to the story? I was planning on having it myself once I get to 12 weeks (I have mild asthma as well as being pregnant).

Not a regular opticians aubergenie, no. Appointment was at a local health centre, where they do various specialties on diff days of the week. They have a fancy camera thing that takes photos of the eyes and does all the measuring and stuff for them. Tis v smart. They've only had it a couple of years I think - have no idea how common they are elsewhere.

yay pistachio! Glad you've caught a moment in the midst of the chaos. I hope he sleeps a nice long nap for you! If I were in your situation I'd be quite desperate for those moments with one away and one asleep. As it is, when I'm home all day alone with Q (just one baby) I would not cope without his nap

In fact, I remember a day over the half term, I think it was, when Q only napped for 40 minutes all day and I thought I might lose my mind See? It becomes more and more and more apparent that I would not cope with any more than one. I love Q more than anything in the whole world, but just think 2 would do me in.

January is fine for a meet up. or december. I can come this weekend

HMM looks like you and I are doing secret santa on our own so let's call it obvious santa instead

50ftQueenie · 24/11/2009 15:57

I'll do Secret Santa.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/11/2009 17:54

Thanks pistachio - will have a search later.

Well after being screeched at for hours on end today, as well as during the night, I took ds to the doc to check for an ear infection. He actually wasn't sure (very unusual for him) - they were a bit pink, but he said that that could just be because he'd been screaming so much. He's given antibiotics just in case, so fingers crossed for a quick improvement.
