50ftQueenie · 22/11/2009 22:30

Dear lord! My post was rubbish and repetitive! Sorry, I must be tired tonight.

Honeymoonmummy · 22/11/2009 22:40

Hey 50ft, X-posts, I thought I was talking to myself!!

No, he probably means not coping that way too 50ft! And it was a very good post

Have you had any more thoughts about no. 3??

Honeymoonmummy · 22/11/2009 22:48

Oh I had some banana cake with aubergine in it today at the NCT sale, I asked the maker if she had "The Book" and she said yes

aubergenie · 23/11/2009 07:01

Myjob - Please don't worry about N not free-standing. One of my work colleagues said her dd didn't stand or walk until 16 months. I remember when S didn't roll. Babies 4 months younger than him were rolling and he just wasn't. I started to wonder if it meant something was wrong. Then suddenly one day he did it. Ridiculously "late" compared with all the other babies but they're all different, so unless N has any obvious disability that's concerning you then try not to worry about it.

HMM - about your dh. A messy house can be dealt with and 50ft is right, you could plan for both the labour and the PND, as you will be looking out for it. (Like 50ft, a friend of mine had horrendous PND with her dd1 and none at all with dd2). Are you in a rush to TTC again? Maybe leaving it a while for you to get better (with an agreed time to revisit it all) would give him a bit of a breather from worrying about you (as he must be doing at the moment) and help him come round to the idea.

StarExpat · 23/11/2009 08:51

Yes to secret santa.
And xmas meet up! Someone's house or a place where kids can run free and we can all stay warm and eat would be best

HMM I agree give it some more time if you really want another. DH will soon forget see that things get easier and that next time will be different anyway

Pistachio. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
I think caring for two such young children 24/7 must be extremely wearing. I honestly don't know how those of you with more than 1 do it and sah. I've only done it for first 10 weeks, then week long holidays here and there... the 9 weeks over the summer was a long stretch for me - you're right... people (including me) need the change of scenery.

Unless... you have them in school from 7.30-4.15 then homework tutors from 4.30-6 nightly and babysitter every saturday from 3pm-10pm like the friend who made me feel like shit for being tired at the weekend! In that case, I can see how it would be possible.

50ftQueenie · 23/11/2009 10:21

Pistachio - You will get better. The detachment is your brain's way of protecting you, your babies don't make you miserable. You've had lots to deal with in regard to the illness that you've all suffered & you need some time for yourself to recover. I can cope with two children because one is at school all day. If they were both home I would probably have exploded by now. I get SO stressed about school holidays & ds can look after himself fairly effectively so is much easier than your dd. Children take and take and take until there is nothing left, that's what they do. We get back love if we're lucky!

I know your DH is an absolute angel but I think he's being a little unfair & very understanding by suggesting you stick with two children. He is putting pressure on you to get better, without really meaning to. It is something you should discuss when you are feeling better, not something to be raised now.

pepperrabbit · 23/11/2009 10:44

myjob - don't panic! DD isn't freestanding yet either, so walking is a way away I suspct for us still. Not bothered really tbh as she's so diddy I think she might look odd walking! She's still not 20lbs yet.
pistachio - you might find looking at it another way helpful. My DB &SIL have been trying for No2 for 2 years now and it's just not happening. SIL thinks DB doesn't want another baby any more and isn't bothered, but actually, I know he's desperate for another - but more than that he wants her to be happy. And he thinks putting pressure on her to keep trying is making her unhappy so he's kind of stepped back from the idea. Your DH could just be trying give you the space to get better without the thought of another pregnancy immediately round the corner? Does that make sense.
Anyway, I've been up all night as we've joined the vomit club. DS2 threw up twice warrantng a full bed change both times and mucho laundry. Rattly Bear has done a wash too far and sadly no longer rattles He desperately wants me to go and find his rattle.....
And, after walking to school in a hurricane with the sodding double buggy DD returns minus one shoe and Strokey. Luckily I have a twin strokey but am going to have to trawl up and down the road for them.
And it's my wedding anniversary. No chance of romance here as DH & DS2 shared a cake yesterday and I'm refusing to snog him in case he turns sicky too

ronshar · 23/11/2009 11:09

Hmm, at risk of upsetting you maybe you should put all thoughts of TTC out of your head until you have come off the Anti D's. I have to agree with your DH. Give yourself some time to just enjoy being a mummy. Go back to work and remember how to be an adult again. Talk to DH and say that maybe on P's second birthday you will discuss it again. I know that if we had had a second child quickly DH & I would never have made it to husband & wife. We forget just how much having a baby changes our lives. Men do feel really left out and neglected. It is only natural for your DH to feel threatened by the thought of another baby.
Sorry if that isnt what you wanted to hear.

ronshar · 23/11/2009 11:24

Sorry it is going to be a bit here and there as doing lunch and have to go and pick up my wonderful mad Irish Aunty from the airprt in a min.

Pistachio. Oh my love you sound so down. You are exhausted and have been ill as have all your family. A horrible traumatic time for you. As 50ft said you brain is in protection mode. Give yourself time to recover. You are a wonderful parent and are doing a much better job than I.

50ft I have already said so but bloody brilliant.

Myjob. N is pushing you to see how far you will go. They all do it. W is so far down the track he is lucky to get through some days!!!
The standing up thing is completely reflex. I am awake must stand up. W was doing it for ages. All night and in the day time. Be strong keep going back in so she knows you are still there but dont give in.

Aubergenie. Great shopping. I gotta get me some of that.

CSWS crap crap crap. Keep up the fluids and get as much rest as you can. Nothing more to say that you dont already know

Pepper. W is always throwing stuff out of the pushchair. Shoes, socks toys. He now has no toys and I make sure I watch constantly for any sign of shoe throwing. Really annoying.

Star dont get me started on your
irresponsible use of antibiotics. Have you heard of antibiotic resistance???? OOOO I am wagging my finger at you. However well done on the honey lemon. It is the only thing that actually works for a cough. Mixtures are bollocks. Waste of money. I also second the Vicks on the soles of the feet. Works a treat when I remember to do it

ronshar · 23/11/2009 11:26

W is walking now. He is so proud of himself. And his favourite band is the Black Eyed Peas. Love the current song. Waves his hands and wiggles his bum. Wonderful.

Be back later.

StarExpat · 23/11/2009 11:39

Yay! Congrats to W for walking

Q loves black eyed peas, too

50ftQueenie · 23/11/2009 12:04

I meant not very understanding btw Pistachio. I was under attack by M who was trying to eat a) the phone, b) her dirty nappy and then c) my laptop. I rushed the last part of my post to prevent various disasters.

Pepper & Pistachio - From what we know of the very lovely Mr Pistachio, Pepper, you are probably right. Maybe my view of men has been tainted after spending an evening with my poor friend!. I know that my DH worries about me & making me happy all the time bless him, so I expect Mr Pistachio is the same.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/11/2009 14:42

Afternoon. I'm bloody knackered. I didn't get up til 8:20am today (up to feed ds at 5:45 ish), but was knackered again by 9:30. I don't remember being quite this tired with the other two, although I suppose with dd I was able to sleep as I liked, esp as I was working flexible hours from home for a lot of the pregnancy, and only part time for the first few weeks of it.

Anyway, all the wise responses seem to have been given already, so that saves me a job .

I will add though to hmm that dh didn't want another baby after dd - not because he was worried about me, but because she was such a bloody difficult baby and he didn't want to have to cope with another one too! Thankfully ds has been much easier once we got through the first few months of him not wanting to be put down to sleep, which I guess is why he became more open to having a third!
Does your dh find Poppy difficult to deal with too?
What are the things that you find hardest?
Just wondering whether if you list them we can try and help you to tackle some, or at least provide a reference for you to look back on in a few months to see how far things have progressed.

I think the chances of us all having the same day free between now and Christmas for a meetup are very very slim. How about we do something in January instead? Although I'm open to invites if people do want to do stuff before Christmas!

On an entirely different and random subject, did I mention that ds had his feet measured last week (just for curiousity)? He's a startrite 3 or clarks 3.5, but wider than an H fit - eek!

Hurray! Someone had very kindly left strokey balanced on a hedge and the solitary shoe was further up the road on a bush. So I'm trying to rescue the shoe (one of the soft leather slipper types) and wash spare strokey - they were Very wet after todays downpours!

50ftQueenie · 23/11/2009 20:02

Fabulous news pepper!

Myjob & Pepper - I think I have mentioned before that there is a little girl who is the sister of one of Ollie's classmates who, at the age of 3.5 years weighs just over 18lbs. She has pt on 4lbs in the last 4 months. She had horrific reflux all her life and the doctors did nothing! She is on medication now which is helping but she is soooooo tiny!

aubergenie · 23/11/2009 20:35

Hurrah for Strokey being found!

What a bloody awful day. Twenty five children exhausted from swimming in the morning, cooped up indoors for wet playtime followed by wet dinnertime does not make for a happy afternoon!

Pistachio - Sorry to hear you're still finding things so tough.

CSWS - I was wondering whether we should do something in January instead too. It would give us something to look forward to once Christmas is out of the way. When are people free before Christmas?

StarExpat · 23/11/2009 20:49

I only have plans for weekend of the 6th and 27th so far...

My baby has an astigmatism in both eyes . Got to go for another eye test at the hospital where they'll put drops in his eyes and stuff before deciding whether he needs glasses or just regular monitoring.
