As I accidentally filled up the old thread I thought I'd better start a new one

waitinggirl · 22/11/2009 20:36

aub - i'm not veg, obviously - but if you hand express is anything coming out? prob a bit late seeing as she's been on for an hour or so, but i'm only feeding morning and eve and have just spent the weekend away without madam and there was no problem with supply. hope it's ok - thinking of you.

KiwiPanda · 22/11/2009 20:56

aub I would think if she is sucking then she is getting something - the action of sucking stimulates milk I think. But I'm no expert. Hope she's ok and better very soon

TheInvisibleHand · 22/11/2009 21:20

Aub - so sorry she isn't well. Actually, she is probably tolerating some BM better than water as she is probably getting a little at a time (as much as she can handle). But I was going to suggest maybe posting on the feeding boards if need be - there are some experts that hang out on there who might know.

Curly and Olipop - nice to see you back on! Curly - my DS arrived on 20th Dec too.

Veggiemummy · 22/11/2009 21:50

Oh Aub I'm so sorry I read up to the end of page 8 earlier and didn't realize there was more and then watched a movie. Anyway yes DD would get some milk and your body will probably give her the nice hydrating stuff because it wouldn't have had enough time to produce the fattier milk in time. Hope the A&E was ok what ever happens just BF her when she wants it your body will up it's production for her and then she will drop back when she is back on solid food again. That's the beauty of BF and why the govt encourages it as it's awesome for keeping babies hydrated when they are unwell.

Veggiemummy · 22/11/2009 21:55

Oh I hope baby Aub is ok.

Hi curly nice to hear from you, I def remember you.

I would love to do SS but I think the delivery might take up most of the cost. That's nice of your DH to do that JJ.

urbanewarrior · 22/11/2009 22:23

Aub - Hope all is ok and you got some help at A&E. Like Veggie says your body will help hers. So good that you're still feeding her. Thinking of you all.

Have just got back from weekend with my entire family (well siblings and offspring). Was lovely if a little fraught.

We're just moving DD to one nap from about 10:30-12:30. Seems to suit her a little better.

DH is unpacking around me. Better go but will try to be back later. Work a bit manic at the moment so feel like I never get a moment.

sybilfaulty · 22/11/2009 22:38

Aubs - so sorry about DD2. Would offer the breast as much as she wants, as you will have sucha well established supply by now that it can adapt to make more if needed. Hope she gets better soon.

Naps - M has a big one after lunch and occasionally a small one in the am. If we are out in the buggy or the car, he will drop off but I don't put him to bed at home until after he has stuffed his face at lunch.

JJ, I would love to do Secret Santa. Thanks to Dr JJ for organising. Is it for mothers or babies?

Great to see you, Oli and Curly . Glad your babies are well. I was chutneymary in a previous incarnation.

Trace, if you are reading, sending you lots of love. How was your weekend? And how is miss lucy now?

Feeling rather nauseous this evening. Set the alarm for work tomorrow for 6. Cannot believe how much I have to do and feel a bit overwhelmed. Oh well, this time tomorrow it will be done for another day. Good sleep, all.

Night night.

EffiePerine · 23/11/2009 05:54

Sybs: I had to set the alarm for 5 to get a job application off as the website was down over the weekend.

Aub: sorry to hear about DD2, hope she is recovering. DS1 went from a couple of feeds a day to feeding all day for a week or so when he was ill with a tummy virus and all sorts a couple of years ago. My supply seemed to adjust pretty quickly. I was glad I was still feeding (he was about 15 months) as it was the only thing that he would tolerate and he found it very comforting while being poked and prodded and on drips.

Right, better get on with getting stuff organised, we headed off for bed at 9 yesterday with nothing done for the morning as we'd had enough! Parental visit, nice to see them but hard work.

Kayzr · 23/11/2009 07:36

Morning,

Aub Hope that DD2 is better soon. I hope you managed to get some milk into her.

Naps- DS2 has about 30 minutes at 9am and then he sleeps from 12 until about half 2 in the afternoon. Sometimes he wont have the 9am nap but if he doesn't have it he gets quite grumpy.

My house is a tip. I swear DS1 has pulled out every toy he owns and thrown them around the front room. I think I am going to have to spend the day tidying(yay)

Hope you are all well.

Aubergines · 23/11/2009 08:28

Thank you all for your great advice last night. We are still at hospital. DD2 v sad and weak but breast providing huge comfort even though it doesn't always stay down. Drs been very encouraging about the fact I am still BFing, never seen such positivity from the medical profession who usually disregard any benefit after 6 months.

I really want to go home but have v important day at work so DH coming to relieve me here and bringing my suit so I can go in for a few hours. At least the hospital is near work so I can get back and forth quickly.

EffiePerine · 23/11/2009 08:34

Aub: thinking of you. If you need anything, please let me know (I'm working just down the river today though in meetings this afternoon). Glad the BFing is helpful, it really will be a big boost to DD2 at the moment.

Hello,just quickly,
Aub, oh no, hope babyAub is on the way to feeling better
Hello Olli!! (I was pmk1 b4) I remember we met at the anti natal meetup!
Count me in for the SS - I will email soon JJ. I just had a message from LadyT - she was at the airport but wanted me to let you know she'd like to do the SS too.
Back later...
How bout that jungle and x-factor over the weekend!
Keep us posted when you get time Aub

daisydora · 23/11/2009 12:26

aub I hope DD2 improves soon. Thats really awful to hear, poor little thing.

Hello to curly rubena I love reality TV. Apparently KP has left the jungle, as much as she annpys me she does make good TV.

Can't believe I start work next Tuesday. Am getting a little nervous now, but also a bit excited.

DS poo is back to normal thank goodness (well actually its literally up his vests). However, we are struck down with a stinky cold. However, I've had the energy to make DS's birthday cake for tomorrow. It looks like a dogs dinner TBH, but DD thinks its great!!! I doubt very much that DS will care either way.

Veggiemummy · 23/11/2009 14:12

Just popping in to see how Aub and babyAub are getting on. You may not want to say, but are you at Thommies? I'm sure your all fine but my friends DH is a consultant there if there is anything you need I could get him to drop it in, though I'm sure your DH and fam are sorting you out (and Effie). Are the staff treating you ok, anything you don't understand just ask (or you can ask me). I'm glad your still BF it is absorbed so quickly even the slightest bit can be absorbed between consumption and spewing. Finally how are you holding up, you've barely had a moment to think, make sure you eat properly and lots of fluids for you too.

In other news DS2 took 5 steps (approx I didn't actually count), he did it twice and now seems completely exhausted by it and has only made a slight effort and trying to do it again. He was quite pleased with the commotion he caused. DH was home which is wonderful but I think my niece was more excited about it than anyone else.

Also I sent mine and the boys birth certificates off to get apostilled today, hooray! I have an appointment with the town hall people on the 8th so hopefully they will be back by then.

Veggiemummy · 23/11/2009 14:15

Wow well done on the birthday cake Daisy, I didn't make one for DS1 and would love to make one for DS2 but this flat doesn't have an oven and we won't move into our new house until 2 days after DS2's birthday. Maybe I'll make him a delayed cake, the pirateship cake tin will have arrived by then too.

Kayzr · 23/11/2009 14:57

Aub hope everything is going well.

Veggie well done J!!! DS2 stood on his own for the first time yesterday. Then he kept doing it once he had worked it out.

I have 2 birthday cakes to make for birthdays on the same day. We are having DS2's birthday party on the Saturday afternoon and my brothers 21st in the evening. I might be mad!!!

Aubergines · 23/11/2009 20:04

We are home! Thanks for all your good wishes. DD2 is still weak but improving. I am so pleased to see a few glimpses of her little smile returning, it has been heartbreaking watching her feel so wretched. She has been like a newborn, all sleepy and curled-up on my chest.

Veggie - we were at C&W but thanks for letting me know about your friend at St T's. The C&W staff were lovely. It is also blessed with decent cafes nearby which is a godsend when trying to avoid hospital catering.

Daisy - I can't believe we have a first birthday tomorrow. Is your DH the oldest? I still remember your waters popping online.

Olipop - hello! I remember you from the postnatal meet-up. H's hair sounds adorable.

daisydora · 23/11/2009 20:12

Oh Aub that is great to hear! I'm sure that she will get better soon. Make sure you get plenty of rest too if you can!

I think DS is probably one of the oldest, on the thread...can't believe I posted when my waters went But I was online, so it seemed silly to log off without a quick update

EffiePerine · 23/11/2009 20:16

Aub: Glad to hear she's doing well . Hope you're getting some deserved rest too.

Daisy: am also down with stinky cold, bleurgh. And do I get any sympathy? I DO NOT. Anyway, have wine and sweets and a large bag of Doritos to fend off the germs.

Aubergines · 23/11/2009 20:34

Thanks Effie. I meant to thank you for your incredibly kind offer to help me out today. I was really touched - thank you.

zoejeanne · 23/11/2009 21:01

Just wanted to pop on wish babies Daisy, ady and Verso very very happy* 1st birthdays for tomorrow/Wednesday (although, can I still call them babies if they are 1? ). Well done on the cake Daisy, as long as DS can smear it over his face he will be very happy! I don't remember your waters going, but I'm tempted 23to hunt back to see our antenatal thread(s) and get all nostalgic

And talking of cakes, kayz you are the queen of cakes, you always seem to be making one for some occasion or another

Thanks to DrJJ for the Secret Santa, I'll be in touch - I'm looking forward to joining in this year (I'm too superstitious about buying anything for babies before they are born, so didn't join in last year)
Aubs so relieved to hear that your DD is back home and smiling again

Hi to curly, I do remember you posting as purple, so its good to hear from you a year on

Must dash back to my cookies - I have rather stupidly invited 8 mums with 11 children between them for lunch on Saturday, and I choose to do it the week I start work! [dumbo emoticon]

Veggiemummy · 23/11/2009 21:21

evening ladies. I remember daisy's water breaking it literally happened while she was posting. Actually I found it quite exciting! I have just discovered DS2 & I will celebrate our birthdays in the same week this year. I'll be on the Monday and he on the Sunday. I feel a little sad that he and I don't have any friends to celebrate it with but we have each other and that's the main thing. I literally make my own friends these days.

DS2 has been having a go at taking more steps and enjoying it. He can even stand while eating, something he seems quite happy about. However he had his first walking related accident today, whilst walking forward he tripped on his own foot and fell straight onto his face...ouch. He was not happy about that.

I forgot to say, yesterday, we went to a place called Maduradam. It's like a mini version of the Netherlands, lots of mini versions of landmarks and ports, airports and trains etc. Anyway my niece and I kept putting DS2 on the mini towns etc to make it look like 'giant baby' was taking over the town. DH was not happy about us doing it as he thought it as naughty. On one of there was this fortification wall thing with a real mini waterway on the otherside. Yes you guessed it DS2 diver over it and I only just caught his leg before he would have landed head first into the water. DH was not happy. Scary as it was my niece and I still had a little giggle. Wish we'd got it on camera.

We are off to Antwerp tomorrow, has anyone been there. I know nothing about it except that my diamond from my engagement ring was cut there. Any tips on places to go.

Kayz can you upload photos of the cakes, I love your cakes. Have you ever thought of selling them? I would pay you to make a cake for my boys.

TheInvisibleHand · 23/11/2009 22:03

I'll add my happy birthdays as well - can't believe its been a year. I think they kind of still are babies at a year, but definitely not at 2 - so that's the magic of the year to come!

Aub - very glad to hear you are home and DD2 is on the mend. Its so wretched when they are really ill.

Veggie - Antwerp is great, its a port city so lots of watery shore to walk along and some great squares for running around in if the weather is OK. Also Reubens' home town, so also some art to see. Its actually Belgium's coolest city, with lots of funky boutiques etc, not to mention the diamonds but maybe not with the boys...Obviously being in Belgium you need to treat yourself to the local specialities - chips and chocolate so enjoy! I'm sorry you are sounding a bit low about your social life - but from everything I've read on here you're such a kind, lively and resourceful soul you'll be in the thick of it soon enough.

Well done to J for the walking, that's great! I'm sure that when the time comes DS will walk just to be able to move and eat at the same time - he seems to be a gannet at the moment. We were at a tea party yesterday and he was busy trying to scavange smoked salmon from other people's sandwiches...

sybilfaulty · 24/11/2009 07:49

Veggie, you WILL have friends to celebrate with as we shall have a virtual party for J (and again for you) online. If we have yours in the evening, we can all have drinks and make merry. I'm sure it won't be long before you meet some nice folk to have fun with - you are such an upbeat girl and so welcoming that you'll find some likeminded chums soon. Never been to Antwerp so am very interested to see what it's like.

Happy birthday Daisy's DS! I think you are the first of the regulars to have a birthday, closely followed by Lady T's O and Verso's F tomorrow. I remember this time last year very well. Hope you have a lovely day

Aubs, so glad you have DD2 home and that she is starting to smile again. Can you take a bit of time off this week to be with her and to get yourserlf on fighting form?

AM off to do carseats today. We are struggling to get M in his baby seat, but don't think I can get 3 big seats across the back of my wee focus. Will have to get the nice man in Halfords to try and help.

KiwiPanda · 24/11/2009 19:49

Aub so glad to hear she's better, hope she's totally herself and cheery again very soon.

DD has been astonishingly grumpy and woke NINE times last night. Teeth, I assume, as she has really a very mild cold.. It's gutting as she had suddenly started improving at night and I had hopes that she might just sleep through before her 1st birthday just before Christmas... Sigh. I am so so tired.

Yawn.
