Welcome to our new thread .

Glad to hear you feeling a bit more upneat Sponge, and sorry to hear you aren't BDQ

I am also having a bit of an hormonal weekend. I just feel really snappy and have bitten poor dh's head off several times. It doesn't help that he has just announced he is going away for three days to a conference and I am a bit hacked off at a. the fact he is away again, b. the short notice, c. I know he will spend the whole time eating drinking and living it up with his chronies whilst having nights of uninterrupted sleep. Jealous, moi?

Rolf · 08/11/2009 14:00

Thanks for the e-mail BDQ
So glad you had a good night's sleep Sponge
Sybil I can share your pain. DH is off today for 3 days and I get madly jealous.

neenz · 08/11/2009 14:52

Thanks for the email BDQ!

Totally understand your feelings about DH going away Sybil (and Rolf!).

Sponge, your night sounds great and it sounds like M is settling down into better sleeping, hopefully now the winter is here with the dark mornings A might sleep in more often

Well no PG for us again this month, but I don't feel too sad this time, I think I am more expecting it not to happen now, whereas before I thought cos we were having sex at the right time it was going to happen (cos it did first month when I took the Clomid). I will have more blood tests tomorrow (had the day 21 tests last week) so hopefully will get referred. I am trying to get tickets for Beyonce for Wednesday as a 'not getting pregnant' present . Not so sure about buying tickets on ebay though.

ktpie · 08/11/2009 16:21

How are you all getting on with the weaning? I have no useful tips I'm afraid, J just seemed to lose interest and didn't seem to notice.

BDQ - glad you have the exam out of the way, it must be a big relief not to have to revise.

Goingto - how awful about the ladders, glad he is fine.

Whinegums - have fun packing for the move!

Rolf - I know what you mean about running out of child related things to say to people.

Sponge - sounds like a good night!

Sybil - I sometimes feel jealous when I talk to my child free friends with social lives, but J is such a sweetie (most of the time) it doesn't last long.

Neenz - sorry to hear about the negative. At least you will be able to have a drink if you go to see Beyonce though!

On the work related chat I'm not missing work at all, but I think I am fairly fortunate in that I'd only been in my job for a year or so and don't feel like I have much to lose as I'd not exactly spent years building up a career. Not really sure if I want to return to the same sort of thing when I do go back to work or do something different. I am not a particularly career driven sort of person anyway, neither is DH.

We have started decorating this weekend, it seems like a while since we have done any decorating and although I kind of enjoy getting something done, I also can't be bothered, the ILs are coming over next week to help with the painting.

bitofadramaqueen · 08/11/2009 16:24

You're welcome Neenz and Rolf!

We all went out for lunch today and then I took S to a fab play park while DH went home and studied for a change. Walked home from the park which is miles away (it took me about an hour and a half) but I really do need the exercise!

We also took S to get his shoes checked (he's had his first proper shoes for about 6 weeks) and they said he had plenty of room so to come back in about 4 weeks! I felt doubly vindicated about holding off till he was walking properly before getting the shoes (despite loads if pressure to get him in shoes) as I'm sure if I'd caved in earlier we'd be on his second expensive pair by now! I think the timing works out nicely - we can get him some cosy winter boots to see him through the coldest weather.

Although maybe I should be worried that he's not growing

sympathies to those with absent DH's this week - mine us away in London next weekend. I think that's why I was so p'd off this weekend - after weeks of studying I really wanted a few 'quality time' weekends!

DebInAustria · 08/11/2009 19:06

Hi everyone, no time to catch up, just need to get this back on my threads, hope you're all OK.

whinegums · 08/11/2009 20:21

Quiet again over the weekend here - typical, and then you'll all go mad chatting during the week when I am up to my eyes!

Ktpie - oh, if only packing were going to be fun. I keep looking around at everything... Although I did sadly quite enjoy using my vacuum pack bags today. I think someone else on here was using them too.

Ah, I hear the door - that'll be DP. Dinner is ready - I've made slow cooked lamb shoulder from Jamie O's website, and it smells amazing! Yum yum yum.

Neenz, go for the Beyonce tickets, if someone's got good feedback you should be ok.

Have a good week y'all. I might be back on, as DP goes away again on Tuesday til Friday - Aberdeen this week.

bitofadramaqueen · 08/11/2009 21:17

Where did you get your vacuum bags from whinegums? I've been trying to get some from our local dunelm mill since someone (ktpie?) recommended them. Have a stash of stuff to get vacuum packed away.

Good luck with the packing!

spongebrainbigpants · 08/11/2009 21:22

BDQ, you can get them on line - google for them, you'll get lots of links.

OP posts:
bitofadramaqueen · 08/11/2009 21:31

Thanks Sponge. All the ones I've seen have fairlymixed reviews so keen to try and get some trusted recommendations.

vivaGlasvegas · 08/11/2009 21:44

BDQ could you send me an email too please?

away at my parents' house, will catch up properly next week sometime x

Essie3 · 08/11/2009 22:57

BDQ and me! I'm s a r a . e . r o b e r t s @ bangor.ac.uk

Sorry really knackered so no post except to send sympathy and hugs to babies who have had minor or major accidents.

Am back in London - anybody free to come to play on Tuesday or Wednesday? Short notice, I know, but I've been working like a dog!

PRO tomorrow for my exciting cutting edge historical research. Watch this space! I'm looking at some accounts (!) from 1480. How mindblowing is that?

bitofadramaqueen · 09/11/2009 07:07

Done, Viva and Essie! Let me know you got the email ok.

In my post about vacuum pack bags, the missing sentence is that dunelm mill are out of stock. Hence looking elsewhere for bags.

ktpie · 09/11/2009 08:57

Debs - how did the viewing go the other day?

Whinegums - it is strangely satisfying when everything shrinks down, duvets are particularly good.

BDQ - I saw a load of vacuum bags somewhere the other day but can't remember where. That's not much help is it! Instores, poundstretcher (whatever they are calling it now) tend to have cheap ones but not sure how long lasting they are. In fact I can't remember if I've actually bought them from Dunelm, just know they do them so can't vouch for the quality. I'm really not much help today, sorry!

Essie - what is PRO? Am I being thick? Probably!

Essie3 · 09/11/2009 09:38

kypie - no, it's not you, it's me! I was using jargon. PRO is the abbreviation for the Public Record Office. And it's not even called that any more - it's the National Archives now. So not only using exclusivist jargon, I'm using exclusivist jargon that's out of date...

spongebrainbigpants · 09/11/2009 10:00

BDQ, we got ours on line, I will ask dh where from and send you the link.

Essie, can't make this week, what a shame - haven't seen you in eons!

I hear X Factor was a bit controversial last night - anyone watch it? (Don't know why I'm discussing it cos I don't even watch the programme but do know something about the Jedward controversy!)

OP posts:
abdnhiker · 09/11/2009 11:32

waving hello to everyone, I seem to have lost my brain this week so I've nothing to say...

bitofadramaqueen · 09/11/2009 12:04

That'd be fab sponge thanks, I'll clearly know better than to trust ktpie and her recommendations in the future .

Last night's x-factor... Jedward and Lucie were in the bottom two, so the judges get to decide who goes home. If they can't decide it goes to deadlock and it's based on who got the lowest vote in the phone vote. Basically last night, Simon refused to send Jedward home even though they can't sing at all. He really doesn't like Lucie though who can sing. There was a predictable outrage, which I thought was quite funny. Lucie was very good about it, Jedward get loads of stick but she said 'they deserve to be here, they work harder than anyone'.

I have to say I feel a bit sorry for Jedward - they're only kids and it's not really their fault that Louis put them in the final 12 even though they can't actually sing.

PiggyPenguin · 09/11/2009 12:09

posdting and running today. J is watching Timmy Time while I try to clean at least some of the kitchen! (bad mummy emoticon)

spongebrainbigpants · 09/11/2009 12:17

Here's the link: vacuum bags

I agree with you about Jedward - they are very young and clearly completely talentless. Louis is being a bit of a bastard to them tbh.

Ho hum. I don't actually care - just trying to be hip!

OP posts:
neenz · 09/11/2009 12:54

I actually thought Jedward sang OK on Saturday (well, compared to their previous out of tune performances). A decent voice coach should be able to get them to sing ok. I like them. I really like Lucie too, and I am sure she will end up in musical theatre - I think she could be a Miley Cyrus type even.

I thought Simon would vote Jedward out but then wasn't all that surprised when he didn't - he knows the controversy is good for ratings, and she did get the lowest number of votes so it's not really Simon's fault!

BDQ, E has had her first pair of shoes for five months, she has only just grown out of them. She was a 3E but they have been feeling tight this last week so I took her to be measured on Friday and she is now a 3.5F . I am not really worried that she is not growing much but it did cross my mind! They didn't have any shoes in a 3.5f so I am going to take her to Southport this afternoon. So don't worry if he is in those shoes for ages yet - in fact, be thankful

One of my twin mums is a teacher in Souhthport and their year 6s are learning about 'celebrity' this term . Anyway, she has asked me to go and do a q&a with them about my job (I work on a celeb mag). She says they are well excited - I hope I don't disappoint .

ktpie · 09/11/2009 13:00

Essie - I posted that then imagined you all laughing at how stupid I was being! (It sounds interesting to me by the way, I do like a bit of history!)

BDQ - I wouldn't trust my recommendations either, I am usually going for the cheapest option

Sybil - I like Timmy Time!
On that subject, how close to the TV do your LOs stand? If it is one of J's favourites he likes to be about a foot from the screen. I'm remembering my Mum's claims when I was little that I would get square eyes, while I doubt that is actually true is the potential damage to eyes worth the trauma of trying to get him to stand a little further away?

ktpie · 09/11/2009 13:08

Just noticed has lost it's eyes! Looks more like a jammy dodger now.

spongebrainbigpants · 09/11/2009 13:08

Neenz, as a fellow Y6 teacher (albeit one who hasn't been in the classroom for 3 yrs) I'm a little surprised at the inclusion of 'celebrity' in the curriculum too! Enjoy though - speaking to a class full of spellbound 10/11 year olds rocks!

ktpie, my brother used to do that too - he's 35 and needs glasses now but that's not bad is it?! Mum never did persuade him to stand further back - I think the only thing that worked was his 3 pissed off siblings dragging him away cos we couldn't see the bloody screen with his head in the way!

OP posts:
ktpie · 09/11/2009 13:12

Just noticed I cross posted with you Neenz.
Exciting that you are going in to talk to the kids, do you think you will get asked if you know the celebrities?
