Welcome to our new thread .

OP posts:
Rolf · 03/01/2010 19:32

Sponge I really don't like wee everywhere so naked playtime is not particularly relaxing as I follow her around making sure she isn't on the sofa or leaving poos on the carpet .

spongebrainbigpants · 03/01/2010 20:03

Lol! I did have a wonderful bohemian image of her just weeing everywhere!!

sybil - wow, 8 people in a 3 bed terrace ! I thought we were crowded with 6 of us!!

Have only scrolled a few posts and sorry to hear bout In law probs

I do check FB more than here so have seen lovely photos of all of your DC's

Well New years resolution check in on MN more often!!!

buchenoelpoppy34 · 03/01/2010 21:06

Hi all and happy new year- nice to hear from you para.

Am afraid haven't read all posts as took some time out so only skimmed last few. schnitzel and sponge am so sorry about family problems. Am not surprised nigel is angry and can only suggest give it time and maybe make it so you only see your dad without him although frankly If he can't keep a civil Tongue in his head for such spurious reasons I do wonder what he thinks he is playing at.

Sponge cut your losses- am sorry that it causes your dh pain but you don't need this so I would go the drastic route of limiting visits to your home by the useless mil and can matt go to them or meet up. I understand that this may seem impossible now but as time goes on and boys are older it may be a more workable solution. You aren't getting in wAy of m and a seeing her but it's also at minimal cost o you.

Amber month off sounds good- I think you are doing very well with the huge amont you have had going on recently .

Nothing much to add as been to France which was nice detox after way too much family over Xmas. Still no news on no 2 but am now seriously thinking I may not want anoter although wonder if I will regret this.

Any other new year resolutions apart from
not buying more books til I have read my stockile?

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 03/01/2010 21:26

Oh Deb, I really feel for you being caught in the middle like that. I don't think there's much more you can do right now.

Paro, nice to hear from you.

Goddess, I have fairly chunky calves too, and have had no problem with the Timberland boots - I like the ones you've ordered. I'm trying not to order the other tall ones, I need to rein in my spending in January!

My poor mum has been on the receiving end of the MIL stuff this year - my not so D B and his partner have been taking the piss out of her for years, and it's come to a head. It's too long a story to explain what's gone on, but they have treated her pretty shabbily (and she has done so much for all of us over the years). At least she's finally realised what they're like, but it's all been a bit painful.

So, I hope everyone's IL problems get better in 2010!

Poppy, escape to France sounds nice.

Rolf, I have a lovely mental picture of naked Lego building, and you following T on excreta alert.

B is in the 18-36 month grobags now - I got them from Littlewoods or whatever when that spend £50 get £25 off discount code was knocking around, so quite bargainous. I've sent the old ones on to my friend in the States - they have an inferior equivalent there!

ktpie, how much longer have you got to go?

So glad we've got an extra day of holiday here in Scotland, and not going back to work til Tuesday (when I'm hoping to work from home anyway).

Sleighbellsandschnitzel · 03/01/2010 21:42

Thanks for all the lovely messages, haven't heard anything more from my Dad today. I will reply to you all tomorrow when I have more time, n night everyone and thanks again.

TediBersMorRad · 03/01/2010 23:02

It's ex-Essie trying this name out for a bit. Not sure really.

Love the boots DQ - I was sorely tempted by the other ones Bugger recommended. I wear tragic nan shoes - literally, that's what they're called. Great for walking though.

Sybil hello, thin pins! I also have very narrow calves (nicely put; I was called Olive Oyl as a child on account of them). I buy boots from Duo when I can afford it, but only for smart wear, not every day, not at those prices! (They have a sale on - and they do larger calves as well!)

Hello also to Poppy! Very personal question for you - why are you thinking maybe not having another? Maybe that question is too invasive - sorry, I'm too nosy for my own good.

Also trying not to spend but need a kitchen solution at the moment, and I'm keeping Boden afloat. (Abdn should mention that I managed to get the cashmere cardi you linked to ages ago in the sale! Although technically not a purchase because I had a black cardi which became awfully bobbly after 1 month so I complained, got a full refund and sent it back; basically an exchange...??)

Am feeling all because I've lost my scarf and gloves. Must have lost them at the beginning of last Spring, but I've been looking for them everywhere here and in London. I'm now beginning to accept that they're properly lost. The gloves were v. special (fur lined), and the scarf had mega sentimental value. It's really bugging me; I can't believe I've left them in a cafe or whatever; but then again, I can't find them anywhere... I've been texting everyone I visit regularly, but nothing doing. Silly, they're only gloves and a scarf, but I'm being silly preoccupied with this.

Anyway, in context it's pretty minor. Hope things are a bit better, Deb. And lol Rolf - Iestyn managed to get three hits this week between the bathroom and his bedroom (wee only, though). It's not that big a house so the landing isn't long. I'm going to have to accept that it will soon begin to smell like one of those underpass pedestrian tunnels.

TediBersMorRad · 03/01/2010 23:03

Hm, not sure about the name. It needs to have an accent on Bers.

TediBersMorRad · 03/01/2010 23:04

Oh, and the thread is getting full. Fuller now with my pointless posts!

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 04/01/2010 08:47

J regularly wees in excitement before he gets into the bath. He runs around the bathroom in a bad wiggling way and then starts for a little excitement wee. Fortunately its a tiled floor so not so much of a problem.

Duo boots tend not to have the thick soles necessary to push j up all the hills on the school runs though Essie, otherwise I would be spending some serious money.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 04/01/2010 08:52

that message made no sense! it should say,

he runs around the bathroom in a happy wriggling way and then stops for a little excitement wee. Fortunately its a tiled floor so not so much of a problem.

Sorry!

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 04/01/2010 09:18

essie Boden has such great customer service - it's the main reason I think they're so popular. I'd be upset about the scarf and gloves too!

Ds1 has just watched the movie CARS and is obsessed with "winning the race" he's making me laugh right now as he's playing in the corner by himself and pretending to be a race car and talking to himself.

poppy good to hear from you have you sorted out how to handle your nanny's mat leave? I was thinking about that the other day while day dreaming about getting part time work.

shit - Fraser just broke a lovely toy... must go...

PuddingPenguin · 04/01/2010 09:26

I love timberlands and found them great in the snow. Actually mine might be caterpillas, but you know the style i mean.

LOL at naked lego.

Pre shower excitement wees on bathroom floor here too (Ry, not me). And remember when Luke pooed on Amber in the bath, well Ry pooed in a shower we were having together. Yuk.

Not much more to add today, hope everyone is well. I'm never going to know who you all are with these name changes tho!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 04/01/2010 10:05

See, I like those shoes essie (sorry, am on iPhone and for some strange reason I need to flip the thread before it lets me add a message so I'd need to scroll through the entire thread before getting to your new name). Back to the shoes though, I think they're very similar in terms of style to things like camper shoes. I'm very tempted by the red ones you linked to.

Am v jealous of your cashmere cardi sale bargain. I really wanted a cropped one in the sale, but the sake started a few days earlier in the US and everything I'd been holding out for went. Ah well, not long till the Spring collection. Hopefully it, and the usual discount codes, are out before my birthday later this month!

Bugger (as in general expletive, not buggers from suburbia ) I've forgotten everything else I wanted to post. Must go and get dressed anyway. Will check in again later and catch up.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 04/01/2010 10:07

Oh, on new title how about 'new year, new thread, new names, but no resolutions!'.

Not fab, but it gets the ball rolling!

TediBersMorRad · 04/01/2010 11:23

LOL at the excitement wees! And also Sybil's post - I was really racking my brains on 'bad wiggling way'! It was a description I couldn't make work in my head!
Goddess I have the red shoes! But agree with Sybil that the Duo boots aren't solid - I wear mine for work and fancy occasions, but not for running around with Iestyn etc.

I have a slight problem here btw. I'm going to a wedding this Saturday, and I had a lovely dress and stuff to wear. But it's freezing cold here... What shall I do? I'm not good at fancy dressing in cold weather!

Work to do here. Iestyn has a new habit of sleeping beyond 9am (!! ) but whilst it was lovely over Christmas, I'm now back at work and I can't keep up these part-time hours! Not sure what to do about it though. He goes to bed at 7.30, usually asleep by 7.45. Previously he would wake at 7.30ish, which worked well; but this morning I went in at 9am because he still wasn't stirring. (He wasn't actually asleep but wasn't chatting in the cot, and was a bit sleepy.) Should I change his bedtime and make it earlier, or just wake him at 8am?

Like the new thread suggestion.

spongebrainbigpants · 04/01/2010 12:20

Morning all - I would like to make a suggestion? Can we ban any talk about LOs who sleep in beyond 7am?! All my NCT group have been talking about how difficult it is to cope with toddlers who sleep too long and now I log to find Iestyn is doing the same ! Why do we suddenly have a toddler who thinks 4am is now a good start to the day and a baby who also wakes at 4am, stays awake til 8am, then goes back to sleep as soon as dh goes to work so I have to get up and look after A?!

Can you tell I had a very bad night?

I can't keep up with the name changers either - stop it already!

OP posts:
TediBersMorRad · 04/01/2010 14:09

Aw, sorry Sponge! But just a quick reminder - he didn't sleep through until he was 8 months old. Not once! And I vomited every single day for 38 weeks and 4 days before he was born at 40+4.

But seriously, sorry it's a bit tough for you at the moment. It will pass, and you can laugh at me if I decide to have a second one any time in the next 5 years...

Still considering my new name. Not sure about it.

Amberc · 04/01/2010 14:30

I am with Sponge - please stop name changing - I can't remember who everyone is any more!! If you must at least keep an element of the old name purleeeeease!! actually I am useless with names anyway. I shall have to treat all name changers as new members tee hee. Essie - what does your name maean?

Sponge - Luke is a crap sleeper, always has been. He is now sleeping 7.30 till 6.30 with a few grizzles in between. This is the best it has ever been in his life. He has never EVER slept past 7am. Not once.

I never let Luke run round naked as everywhere is carpeted. i'd love to though but Mark would go mad if he had an accident. he wouldn'y poo as he takes a bit of time to build up to a poo and I'd see but he could easily wee. PP I remember Luke's bathtime poos very well - little mokey!

Deb - families can be a nightmare sometimes. I'd have gone mental but I suppose that's not going to aid the situation. Hopefully everyone will forget about it after a lot of grovelling and plenty of time. Hugs

Goddess (now unfortunately cannot remember who you were already - I am useless). Boots wise, I have timberlands but I can't say they would go with anything other than jeans. Fat Face always have some good ones although looking at their website they're not good at the mo.

Hi Paro! Welcome back!

Hi to Poppy too - I wondered where you were. What with all the bollox I am going through I sometimes also wonder if I should just stick with the one kid I have as I barely cope with him as it is.

On that note - I have put back IVF one month. Feel better for it already. It's Luke's first day of settling in today at new nursery. Am leaving at 3. Wish me luck!!

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 04/01/2010 14:41

essie sleeping through at 8 months is still much better than most! And I wish my three year old would sleep past 6! (sponge - six is way better than four though, hang in there!). Throwing up every day is wretched though, I'm amazed you'd even consider getting pregnant again.

I'll probably just change my name back to normal once the snow's gone - we really are hiking in a winter wonderland at the moment. Except school's back tomorrow and i have to drive (6 miles away - the local school doesn't have a nursery) and i haven't driven the car in two weeks.

TediBersMorRad · 04/01/2010 16:08

TBH I think that's why I'm not rushing into another pg. You forget exactly what childbirth was like, but you don't forget the pregnancy. BTW, Iestyn didn't sleep through every night until he was over a year old - it was just that the first instance was at 8 months!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 04/01/2010 16:34

essie in my head, your new name means teddy bears picnic. I have decided this on my own with no knowledge of the Welsh language. How far wrong am I?

amber again in my head, I think of goddess as bitodadomesticgoddess and therefore it reminds me of her previous identity! I have no easy way of remembering bugger though! (PS It is I, vivaglasvegas - I have decided that an annual name change is a good way of preventing RL people finding things I have written in the past!)

sponge I won't mention sleeping to you I promise . It'll get better eventually - you never hear anyone complaining about their teenagers not sleeping, do you!

hi paro and poppy long time no see [waves]

sybil am jealous of slender thighs

nakedness Lottie likes to career about starkers after her bath, there is an odd rouge wee, but poos tend to have a warning face associated with them!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 04/01/2010 16:39

Deb* forgot to send sympathy for the Dad vs DH situation. Sounds horrid. I hope you manage to resolve it x

I have decided that there are no suitable shoes for this weather. I have fallen badly twice this week in walking boots first time round, and sensible shoes the second time. All the pavements in the west end of Glasgow are like ice rinks - with ice about 2cm thick. When I fell today, I took Lottie over in her buggy with me. Scary - all fine though! I am considering staying inside until Easter.

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 04/01/2010 16:40

sybil I meant slender calves! I would also be jealous of slender thighs if you have those too!?

Rolf · 04/01/2010 17:29

My calves are one of the few bits of me that isn't fat. The cruel and terrible irony is that they are laden with varicose veins and broken veins so only look ok under v thick tights. And I still go to Mass.

I am going to hibernate until it warms up. That fall with C sounds scary, don'tfeedmebiscuits. We stayed inside for a few days and went out yesterday and were all too cold to enjoy it much. DH grew up in Canada so he isn't scared of the cold, but we just didn't enjoy it.

Has anyone been reading the thread about getting children out for walks? We checked out the geocaching website that was mentioned and there was a cache in our local park (think local park with dog shit and hoodies, not country idyll) which we had fun finding.
