Here we go again!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

hello all and hi to mamagoose where have you been the last few weeks?
Word of warning, DON'T get rid of all your baby stuff and maternity clothes. I did that twice and then ended up with DC3 and 4 and had to buy it all again. At least keep something

All the recent talk about wheelybugs has made me want one but we don't seem to have them here. Can anyone who has already got one tell me if they are really heavy and also where you get them? we are thinking of buying one when home (UK) in December and bringing it back to KSA if not too heavy.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. A bit pissed off here. A tyre was a bit flat on my lovely new P & T so DH got one of the maintenance men to pump the tyres up. Went out this morning and there were two really loud explosions (sounded like gunfire which is a bit worrying in Saudi) and the tyre and innertube had exploded! Of course, being out here, can't get replacements

BloodRedTulips · 14/11/2009 14:26

mos, they're quite light so i can't imagine overseas shipping being huge. i got A's here as i've bought from them before and they're a great company

good to 'see' you again mamagoose, it's very cathartic getting rid of the baby stuff isn't it? i'm having great fun giving it all away.

had a rotten night here, boob was a bit sore yesterday evening and by the time i was going to bed had full blown mastitis (again ) and spent the night shaking with fever, in agony with my boob and aching all over. fever broke this morning but i still feel really nauseus and achey and there's a big red patch on the offending boob.

mumoverseas · 15/11/2009 08:12

BRT thanks for the info on the wheelybugs, they sound fab and think I'll have to get H one. Most of his other toys are hand me downs so he deserves a nice shiny new toy all to himself
Sorry you are suffering with your boobs. I'm really sore at the moment (just right boob for some reason) Still no bloody teeth yet but gums are very sharp and he is starting to nip.
Found out yesterday he has thrush in his mouth which may explain why he has been a rat. He was up most of last night again and no prizes for guessing whether it was mum or dad up with him

mumoverseas · 15/11/2009 08:13

In fact, maybe this smiley is more appropriate for our boob problems
I know its supposed to be a biscuit but it doesn't look like any I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a few) and looks more like a very sore booby to me

dinkystinky · 15/11/2009 08:27

Hi MamaG - lovely to see you on. Glad life is treating you and your girls well.

BRT - sorry to hear about the mastitis - ouch! That must be your fourth case of it now? Hope it clears soon.

MoS - wheelybugs are great. DS1 had the bumblebee one which is in the loft to be given to Danny at xmas - though he equally loved the box it came in

DS1 fell on Danny yesterday - landing on his head Fortunately the blow was cushioned by most of DS1 landing on some beanbags behind Danny but I swear my heart stopped for a minute! Poor Danny is having a time of it with cold, teething and now a slightly puffy swollen right side of his head. Fortunately my parents were around to check for signs of concussion etc. Though didnt manage to make it out to my sisters drinks last night as Danny very unsettled...

Oh yes, if you look in the Boots christmas catalogue or in store at the Activity Superstore Family Portrait gift pack you'll find a photo of me, DH and DS1(in pink stripy hat and scarf)! Fame and fortune clearly beckon . We did a photo session ages ago (xmas present to me by DH before I even got pregnant with Danny) and the company said they wanted to use the photo for promotional use but nothing happened and we forgot all about it - then was flicking through the catalogue last night and saw us in there....

elkiedee · 16/11/2009 10:01

Wow at Boots photo Dinky.

Just bookmarking, Virgin Media seem to have given up providing me with a proper internet service at home.

dinkystinky · 16/11/2009 16:00

Where is everybody?

I want to rant about stupid bloody planners and there is noone around to hear my bellows...

Hope you're all having much better days out there...

TheHouseofMirth · 16/11/2009 19:59

Sorry Dinky here now if you still fancy a moan. Have just been gazing at your loveliness (and that of DS1 and DH) on the Boots website. Hope Danny's OK today.

MOS you need to make sure both you & DS get treatment for thrush or you can pass it back and forwards between you.

Arse, arse, arse! So much for my tasteful wooden Christmas for Mr T. Not only has his God-less Mother gone & bought him the hideous Fisher-Price train but he's also totally uninterested in wheely bugs. Went to visit a friend today who has one & he didn't look at it twice. Because he only had eyes for a hideous, plastic, noisy V Tech baby walker thing like this. Babies have no taste!

BloodRedTulips · 16/11/2009 20:34

we have that baby walker.... i think it has pheremones engrained in the plastic as all three of mine have been obsessed with it.... ds1 and dd still play with it if given half a chance and it's the only thing gauranteed to keep A in one spot for and length of time (we have it leaned against a wall as i don't want him realising it's a walker.... it'll only result in yet more bumps.

everything ok dinky? rant away

TheHouseofMirth · 16/11/2009 21:01

Right, well I've set myself a challenge to get one from eBay for £5 or less! Then I can spend the difference on something wooden & worthy that he won't play with but which will cancel out the plastic!

BloodRedTulips · 16/11/2009 21:28

at least wooden and worthy has the dual purpose of acting as pretty ornaments in the house... i have lots of very worthy sculptures toys decorating my house

littleboyblue · 17/11/2009 07:10

Morning all I'm being a bit rubbish with keeping up with you guys. Trying to find and book parties for this Ann Summers thing is harder than I thought!

Luke said Mum yesterday

dinkystinky · 17/11/2009 10:57

Aah, that's so sweet LBB! Danny is still very much communicating via dolphin like click whistle squeaks....

THOM - DS1 had that plastic walker and Danny is now obsessed with it too - though he also rather loves the wooden block trolley. There are so many of those plastic walkers around I bet you'd probably be able to find one on freecycle if you tried.

Have calmed down a bit re planners today but found out yesterday that the planners will not give us planning permission to do our side return - which we got approved as permitted development last year which they revoked without telling anyone because the rules changed in October - even though our neighbours want to do one too (so they wont let either of us have one) as it might effect the rights of light to either property should some loony owning the property in the future decide they want to make the kitchen smaller They have a policy of saying no on planning permission applications to side returns regardless of the circumstances it seems. So its back to the drawing board again with our plans...

Doh, clearly still so irate on some level I posted my grumbles twice!

Hope the Ann Summers bookings pick up LBB.

Sorry missed you and DS2 have thrush MoS - hope it clears up soon.

littleboyblue · 17/11/2009 14:53

I've had 6 children here today aged 3 and under. 2 have been collected and now it's just me with 4 of them.

dinkystinky · 18/11/2009 08:44

You're a braver woman than me LBB! Hope you've recovered from the experience now...

SweetTalkinWoman · 18/11/2009 13:07

LBB - how do you fancy being a nanny in Chessington !!! No, seriously... had bad news yesterday from our childminder - she's closing down in 4 weeks . Long story but she's got to go back to her old nursery (which she still owns) and is closing down the new one. She was in tears telling us last night and wants us to come over to the other nursery, but basically, we'd have to buy another car and it would be really stressful getting them to and fro. So I have to find alternative childcare in 4 weeks.... I called Orlena's old nursey and to send them both there would cost £2,300 a month !!!

Am horribly busy at work too so not in a good mood. Grrrrrr.

Mind you Dinky - I would be seriously upset if planning had been turned down. Do you have any alternative possibilities for extending?

Hope you on the mend BRT?

Vtech walker - bought one a few weeks ago for Sam, but he doesn't get a look in because DD is obsessed with it!

littleboyblue · 18/11/2009 13:11

STW That's not good about the nursery.
I don't know how anyone can be a childminder and look after more than 2 children. I needed a few glasses of wine last night, but fell asleep before I finished the first!!!!!

Jacob loves getting into Luke's walker. Luke doesn;t really like it anyway

katieblirdsnest · 18/11/2009 15:16

STW that is a worst nightmare situation. take a deep breath and plunge into the full on searching and i'm sure you'll find something suitable soon. you really haven't had it easy going back to work have you? fingers crossed you get something sorted but even then you've got the upheaval and emotions to get through.

i've had the strangest of times in the last week. basically i was married when i was in my 20s but split up when ex dh's drinking got out of control. following on from our split his drinking spiralled even further out of control and he died last week from liver failure. i was in complete shock and very emotional last week as it brought up so many mixed feelings. i'm fine at the moment, really surprisingly fine considering how not fine i was last week(!) but still have the funeral to get through.

elkiedee · 18/11/2009 16:16

Eek at STW's childcare woes, good luck finding something.

KBN, sorry to hear your news, that must be terribly sad.

dinkystinky · 18/11/2009 19:51

STW - that is a nightmare about your childminder. I really hope you find something suitable - and affordable - soon. Is this the same childminder that is pregnant?

KBN - I'm really sorry to hear the sad news about your ex. I cant even begin to imagine what you're going through and feeling right now. I hope that you manage to make it through the week and funeral next week. Sending you lots of hugs and strength.

littleboyblue · 19/11/2009 04:54

KBN So sorry to read your news there. Must be terribly upsetting. Of course just because things don't always work out doesn't mean we don't continue to have strong feelings. I imagine that's normal.

SweetTalkinWoman · 19/11/2009 12:16

KTB - so sorry to read about your news - not surprised you have been in such shock. Wishing you lots of strength to get through the funeral.

LBB - what were you doing posting at 4.54am this morning?!?!? Mind you, I was awake then, just willing Sam to go back to sleep. He's waking early at the moment - very happy and excited about starting the day. Much more excited than me!!!

Dinky - just seen your appearance on the Boots website! What a lovely photo!

Got an appointment to see a nursery on Tuesday - this one's only £1400 a month!!! The few CM's I've contacted so far are full, or only have place for one child. By the way, I'm dis-counting all CM's that have dogs, or don't have a dedicated "sleeping" room - am I being too fussy?

Hope everyone's ok? Been wondering how soem of the ladies that used to post are - Bumps, Herbgarden, PSL etc.

littleboyblue · 19/11/2009 22:08

Dp pushed me out of bed at 4am because I've been sleeping on his side and really fidgeting and duvet stealing for the past 3 nights.....
STW FWIW, you're not being fussy, you have to find a person, plan, situation etc that you are happy with. It might be different from what someone else would look for, but if that's what's important to you and your children, then it's not being fussy at all.
