I'm going to get some of DDs old toys out of the loft and wrap them for DS

Meant to say yesterday about pukey babies....my DS is still a puker and my lounge carpet (and his new car seats / buggies) are all paying the price. I sit him in a buggy for a while after each meal / bottle but he still trails puke around after him.....followed by DD with wipes and labrador with his tongue . It has tailed off in volume since he was tiny....but not in frquency. I am only buying cheap tops for him from Asda / Tesco's etc atm cos they get stained so quickly and I can't remove the stains. I don't like keeping bibs on babies all the time and even then, doesn't stop him puking over the sleeves,, trousers, putting his hands in it etc

Rosie is still getting a hard time on her thread....perfect parents really piss me off!

rosieposey · 05/11/2009 10:30

Morning all

LMN i saw what you wrote and thanks. There are always going to be people who no matter what the circumstances will swear blind and backwards that that would never have happened to them because they always have an answer for everything/all the time in the world/my halo is bigger than yours ect ect. Real life seems to have no impact on them but hey ho - i felt alot worse yesterday and was going to do what PT said and hide the thread but there are equally so many more people who have said that from now on they will either use a strap or make sure that the shop has one so its worth it to let people know and not have this happen to someone else's DC. Also hoping to get this some press coverage too - might make Morrisons change their policy and other retailers too.

PT what clunky clicky fisher price animals? Am honestly looking for ideas for Milo's Xmas pressies (apart from the trike) as haven't bought presents for a baby for ages! (especially not a boy )

BloodRedTulips · 05/11/2009 13:02

rosie, i think these are tha same ones i saw saw them in tescos but tesco have giraffes and lions too and they make clicky sounds when the heads or legs are moved.

Mcdreamy · 05/11/2009 14:41

Hi Rosie how is Milo? Can't believe the brightness of some of those halos - blinding!

I also have no idea what to buy Abbie for Xmas. We already have a house full of toys but I want to get her something just for her....but what?

littleboyblue · 05/11/2009 15:05

LMN That's what I'm doing for Luke, just wrapping up some of ds1's old toys!

MarkStretch · 05/11/2009 17:45

I have been tempted by this.

littleboyblue · 05/11/2009 20:24

MS That's really sweet

rosieposey · 05/11/2009 21:16

Ok got Milo's trike today Just a handful of other toys and he is all set and its not that long till his birthday and there are plenty of toys here already.

mcdreamy Milo is fine thanks, its me who is fed up. There is one poster on that thread who just really has it in for me and says i am wholly inappropriate for taking the victim mentality when i know i am not, i am just trying to make other people aware of the problems i faced and to make sure that no one else has this problem by perhaps getting Morrisons through publicity to change all their trolleys to ones that have straps. Another poster said that her local one had shiny new trollies and they all had straps - wouldnt it be great if all their stores had that?

I know i shouldn't let it get to me and its been a shitty week but i just think that if you have that opinion that i'm totally to blame and not the supermarket, fine then say that but dont keep on and on about it

Got so mad i actually nicked one of DH's cigarettes this evening and i haven't smoked for years

DS is on the mend and thats the most important thing but whilst i dont mind getting a pasting if thats your opinion i do mind if someone repeatedly is just being nasty for the sake of it

Cocodrillo · 05/11/2009 21:44

rosieposey so sorry about Milo, my blood ran cold when I read what had happened. Thank goodness he is going to be ok. I'm stunned about the supermarket trolleys.

MS we have ordered one of those for DS for Xmas, I think it looks fab. Spect the "charming music" will wear a bit thin though. Also a penguin bath toy here

Someone was asking about 2.5 yr olds? DD2 is nearly 3 and is getting a Peppa Pig Mega Playset for Xmas (bought in Sainsbury's toy sale last week). Her and DD1 (5) are also jointly getting this dolls house from toys r us dolls house. DD1 will have a GoGo Hamster and some polly pocket stuff too.

Cocodrillo · 05/11/2009 21:51

rosieposey XP. You mustn't blame yourself, it isn't your fault. I have put a baby in a trolley before and not bothered strapping them in (but wouldn't again).

You think you know your baby - and they change from day to day, so one day they can't eg roll, the next day they roll off the bed (that's happened to me 3 times ).

Most of the time accidents happen and no harm comes of it. Milo was hurt, but fortunately he is going to be ok - that is what you need to focus on, not on the what ifs. If the other thread is turning nasty, I suggest just stepping right away from it. There some nasty people on MN sometimes.

elkiedee · 06/11/2009 02:04

Rosieposey, hope you and MIlo are both ok, I was horrified when I read that thread, but we've all had moments where we felt like terrible, stupid mummies - I dropped C off the bed a few weeks ago, but my worst was DS1 sliding out of a pram on the bus - it was the first time I'd used that one and hadn't spotted the possibility in the way it was designed. It never happened again!

littleboyblue · 06/11/2009 02:49

rosie Hide the thread. I had a similar thing a while ago when I fell over holding Luke. One poster went on and on about how I was putting his life at risk by not taking him straight to the hospital (the way I fell meant Luke wasn't too far freom the floor when we hit it and my arm took most of his weight before his head met the floor anyway). Some people on here (and all similar sites for that matter) just enjoy being like that.
This is why I don't really post anywhere else anymore. MN has changed since I joined and tbh, I don't think I like it much anymore .......apart from you guys, obviously!
coco Those toys look good, sure the dc's will love them.
I haven't a clue what either of mine will get (probably sweet FA!!!!!!)

I was supposed to collect my Ann Summers kit today, but because of all this Royal Mail stuff, HO didn't get my paperwork until this tuesday gone so my kit won't be ready until next week .
They told me to book 6 parties between Nov 6th and Dec 10th so my first party is this sat and I'm going to have to do it without a demo kit. Some serious blagging is gonna have to happen.

katieblirdsnest · 06/11/2009 09:43

i see from facebook that it's a certain dinky's birthday today.

happy birthday dinky, hope you have a lovely day lounging in the sun.

x

katieblirdsnest · 06/11/2009 09:47

i think the fisher price amazing animals toy combined with the train may be this christmas' buzz lightyear/tracy island phenomenon as far as this thread is concerned. i'm getting one for ds too.

whoever was first to mention it should be on a commission.

ChickandDuck · 06/11/2009 09:54

Hello

My DS2 was born in Feb...can I join your group?

BloodRedTulips · 06/11/2009 11:13

at the fisher price train.... i was going to get it for A but as he's my last i'm a bit iffy about spending too much money on something that's very much a baby toy as once he grows out of it it'll get no use. Wouldn't be so bad if it was small but our house is bursting at the seams with most of the contents of smyths as it is!

rosie.... MN is full of lunatics only too happy to make everyone else feel like absolute scum, whilst they are of course perfect in every way and utter martyrs to their children .... i firmly believe these women are typing whilst chain smoking and drinking stella and their kids are crawling around in filthy nappies begging for attention and eating cheesy puffs from the dirty floor

rosieposey · 06/11/2009 12:15

Aww that Fisher Price train is so cute! Know what you mean BLT about the price though and Milo has a Fisher Price train that has circus animals in boxes that go up and down on the two carriages, lights and music ect - it was a hand me down for him and i suspect it was the predecessor to this new one. Arrrhggg! cant believe i saw Milo's trike £25 cheaper somewhere else, lol im usually pretty good at finding it a little cheaper on the the internet and what with us moving quite soon we are really trying to cut back but never mind he has it now and im sure he will love it

I am trying not to take much notice of the couple of nasty posters on that thread, i will hide it if she doesnt sod off anyway but there are so many more mums on there saying that as a result of me telling what happened to Milo that they are going to always use reins from now on and thats exactly what i wanted to happen.

Laughing my arse off here though at BLT's description of Stella swigging, fag ash lil mnetters though, its a nice thought when you are feeling a bit shit around the edges and i will try and keep it in mind.

Happy Birthday Dinky!!!! Hope you are having a great time and enjoying all that sun .

chickandduck welcome! Everybody is lovely and friendly in our PN group

LBB hope your Ann Summers kit comes soon and you have a fun party!

Elkidee, Milo has fallen off the bed before, its horrid but i think all my lo's did it one way or another - they just do that and i have a friend whos baby wasnt strapped in her pram and fell out going down a kerb, luckily he wasnt seriously injured.

BloodRedTulips · 06/11/2009 16:28

oh, i forgot

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DINKY

LittleMissNorty · 06/11/2009 17:23

Happy birthday Dinky

littleboyblue · 06/11/2009 19:08

chickandDuck Welcome What date was your lo born? Mine was the 4th.
Happy Birthday to Dinky

It looks like I might be sitting here on my own tomorrow for the Ann Summers party. What lovely supportive friends I have. Not really, a few of them do have some genuine shit going on, so that's ok. If my unit manager says anything, I'll just tell her I cancelled for lack of kit etc.
I called the 10 pubs I sent a letter to about it. 1 said they'd be happy to have a sit down chat about it on monday, so fingers crossed.

Both my ds's have been in a foul mood today. Non-stop whinging and crying, drives me crazy!

dinkystinky · 06/11/2009 19:29

Thanks for all the birthday wishes ladies - brought a smile to my face which was rather needed as Danny decided to spend 4 and a half hours this morning - from 1am - howling with a temperature and refusing to sleep to celebrate my birthday. He's been pretty grisly the rest of the day and is currently refusing to sleep in the other room (so we have DS1 have a charlieandlolathon in our bedroom till Danny finally crashes out) so despite the lovely sun I an feeling rather unbirthday like and dreading the night ahead. Still, the year can only improve from hereon in

Rosie - huge hugs to you and Milo. Poor love. Hope you're recovering from your horrible and totally unecessary shock - WTF would supermarkets NOT put belts on trolleys if they have them in stock? I just dont get it. And as others have said on here, I've seen little ones make like lemmings even when strapped in so please dont beat yourself up about it - or let the harridans on your other thread do so - you're right to warn other mums and dads about the risks of unbelted baby seats in trolleys and have raised awareness on this. I'd do as the others have said and just hide that thread if I were you now. Lucky Milo getting a trike - he'll love it. Other things that are good for little boy babies - bath toys (particularly squirters) - hours of fun, especially in the summer in the garden, and otherwise good to teeth on. And musical instruments - maracas, etc - are good too, though balls appear to be my 2's all time favourites.

LBB - grr at the Tesco manager and grr at your party cancellations. Hope it all comes together for you with the pubs. Though well done on DS1 for telling you he wanted a wee.

Chickandduck - welcome. Hope life with 2 DSs is treating you well. What's the age difference?

STW/Z - hope the lecture is helpful and you stay awake for it. Sorry DD is being hard work at the moment - remember it is just a phase and will eventually pass,,,,

Markstretch - good luck with the househunting. Bet you cant wait to get shot of your not so delightful neighbours. And v exciting you are on the move too McDreamy - hope both your move and Rosies go smoothly.

Right, off to get DS1 into bed finally and have a well deserved birthday glass of cava. Be in touch again next week.

SweetTalkinWoman · 06/11/2009 21:47

Happy birthday Dinky - hope your night with Danny is not as awful as you are anticipating... When are you home? A bit cold and wet here so enjoy that sun!

Chickandduck welcome! Hope you've got a nice sensible age gap between your boys!!

LBB what a pain re the lack of party attendees. Hope your boys are a big happier tomorrow. My two have been really whingy, but O has now got a nasty cold and I think Sam was just whinging with her!

Poor little DD is a bit scared of the fireworks (or farmerworks as she calls them). We've watched some from the window but she's still a bit unsure.

Well, I bought that kitchen as recommended plus some other bits and bobs for Sam so feel like I'm on the right path for Christmas. I even bought some cards, but must admit last year I didn't send any and it felt really liberating!

Tomorrow DH is off out riding his supermoto somewhere, then I have a christening in the pm that DH is refusing to come to. Not sure how brave I am controlling bith kids in the church on my own, but I'm determined to give it a shot. Then it's off to the British Legion hall to celebrate. All my antenatal friends (from when DD was born) will be there - now I'm back at work I just don't get to see them much.

DH and I have a babysitter tomorrow night for the first time in over a year! It's his friend's wife's birthday party - thing is, they are a really boring couple, dripping in designer gear etc, so it could be hard work. I think I'd rather go to the cinema or something. The babysitter is £8 an hour so I don't think we'll be doing it too often...

What's everyone else up to?

Early night for us tonight - DH already in bed and I'm about to follow... Night!

LittleMissNorty · 07/11/2009 11:16

Haven't got time to catch up atm but those of you wanting wheely bugs, have a look at this sale

TheHouseofMirth · 07/11/2009 16:38

Thanks LMN though actually they're even cheaper at Kiddicare and littlefishtoys!

I looked at that Fisher Price animal train thing today and can only conclude there must be something wrong with me. Aside from it being yet another piece of plastic crap (which I am ready admit has much more aesthetic appeal to a 9 month old than a 40 year old woman) I didn't think it seemed to have much play appeal? And as PT says, for what it is it really is quite large. Am I missing something?

BloodRedTulips · 07/11/2009 19:02

A's wheelybug arrived yesterday so i'm sorted too, luckily it was about the same price as that link or i'd be kicking myself we got him the bee one and it's ridiculously cute

THOM... glad i'm not the only that doesn't think the fisher price train is 40 euros worth of toy.... i was starting to think i was becoming a bit of a scrooge seriously though, dd's play kitchen cost half that and there are all of 4 toys in the whole house that cost 40 quid or more, i just don't think it's value for money... not when you can buy the animals seperately for 7 quid apiece. But i have to conced the fact that this is my third and last time round at the baby stage is probably heavily influencing my opinion
