Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
littleboyblue · 28/12/2009 14:51

mos we didn't drink the champagne in the end, I'm going to save it for my birthday. But that's only because I have a box of wine in the fridge right now anyway, I cannot save chocolate, no matter how much of it there is.
drinky yeah, Luke's doing really well, he doesn't even cry all the time anymore. He has been really smiley lately Today, he started moving his feet like he was walking whilst I held his hands up, so hopefully the cruising won't be long.

TulipsAndTinsel · 28/12/2009 19:37

dinky... i think you have my mothers twin... mines also a snipey, crazed harridan

she once accused me of child abuse because i gave dd who was 2 cough syrup instead of cake when she was sick... a mad enough statement to make but even more insane as dd is wheat intolerant so couldn't have had the cake anyway!

hope you've managed to recover after the blow out... i know how difficult it is to do but i find just stepping back and accepting that she's crazy and the best thing i can do is remain calm and not stoop to her leval. i'd like to say i always accomplish that but i've discovered i have a limited time frame before i reach a point where i just can't listen to one more weird bitchy comment... hence why an extra day at my parents didn't exactly go fantastically!

mos at you ds1, how lovely of him... if i end up with just onbe as sweet as that as a teen i'll be ecstatic.

speaking of gifts... dp did well a gorgeous newbridge silverware watch, very like this one but without the line across the end circles i'm very pleased

littlesez · 28/12/2009 20:55

who are the regulars now on the thread? i feel i should be on more maybe i should have that as my new years resolution

aww feeling all weird just think we all had our big bumps this time last year. I was probably asking all kinds of questions about labour and talking about pains, niggles and heartburn.

I look at Izzy now all grown up, well not grown up but ykwim. She will be walking around before i know it and will be a toddler

speak soon x

littleboyblue · 29/12/2009 06:52

littlesez That's when the fun really begins. We spend around about a year waiting for them to walk only to wish they'd bloody stay still when they do
Luke had a rough night last night, but dp was here so I pretended I was asleep

mumoverseas · 29/12/2009 07:01

LBB lol at your comment. How true is that. H is driving us mad as our UK house isn't exactly babyproof. He is keeping us on our toes here.

littlesez definitely make it a new years resolution to stay on here. Its sad that so many have deserted us where did everyone else go?

We are off ice-skating this morning at a local farm that has apparently got an ice rink this year. Should be interesting. DD is very excited about it but of course has no idea what ice-skating is.
DH has sneezed once so has flu

Any more news on meet up?

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 29/12/2009 09:28

Hi Littlesez - I'd say that MOS, LBB, Tinsels, KBN and me are regulars with regular guest appearances from Swampster, LMN and Spotty (who should be back on now the xmas laptop has been delivered by santa ).

MOS - ice skating sounds fun! No other takers on meet up yet but could do near Victoria if most convenient for all.

Tinsels - my commiserations on having a loon for a mum too. Not much fun is it? Must admit to muttering my mantra "This too shall pass" when having to spend prolonged periods with my mum.

littlesez · 29/12/2009 19:57

OK I will be a good mumsnetter i promise Ill start now! I think I never really got into MN only really posted on fab feb so will carry on with that, I am much better on FB. I do lurk on there and look at pics which I love! I dont know if I have everyone though? I end up with lots of people who I dont know from a meet ups group I run and then delete people who I dont recognise so possible I may of deleted some fab febbers too. I thiink I have dinky, HOM, mark stretch, and maybe some more? i have 4 people that are fab febbers also that i dont know who on here!

Anyone wants to add me Im Sara Ashpital

Im sorry I deserted you all you got me through some tough times when PG and doubting my instincts in the newborn days so THANKYOU xxx

Whats everyone upto new year, my mum has offered to babysit. Hubby is working as always, I usually hang around like a bar fly but dont fancy it this year. So might go and stay at my mums as dont really like the idea of waking up without Izzy, then just go out with my step sister round near mums.

Might be going baclk to work properly(part time) in Jan Tues-Fri early evenings and saturday day. LOng and boring story but only doing tues/sat at the mo and since sept have been all over the place with work

I am looking forward to the walking stage, under no illusion about how hard it will be but izzy has been crawling for ages now and ready for the mayhem, everyone kept telling me wait til she crawls ooooohhh your'll never get a minute then Is it sad that actually prefer it? I love watching her investigating everything.

Still BF so proud of myself as I had so much pain earlydays due to latch probs, cant see her stopping any day soon either

Whats everyones bubs upto then? love to hear if people dont mind repeating for me

be back soon xxx

littleboyblue · 29/12/2009 21:51

littlesez I'm one of your FB friends. My initials are NA and my profile pic is a lovely one of me and the boys when ds2 was 1st born.
I agree, I do prefer it when they can walk or at least crawl, that bit of independence and the end to the frustration in them is heaven (or has been for me so far)
Glad it's all going well for you and Izzy. Luke just started pulling himself up to standing so I'm hoping it won't be long before the cruising or walking. Ds1 was 14 months when he first walked.
Just think, in a matter of weeks, the fab feb babies will be turning 1 year! How quick has it all gone!
Look forward to seeing more of you ls and hearing all about Izzy.

mumoverseas · 30/12/2009 05:45

littlesez I'm on FB too, initials UW. I must admit to being really bad about keeping up on there, mainly as I just don't understand technology and all this business about being sent farm animals etc

H has been crawling since mid August and has been pulling himself up on the furniture and walking around that for a few months. He took one step yesterday but that was it.
No teeth yet
Well done for still B/F, I'm still doing it too.

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 30/12/2009 10:43

Morning all. How was the iceskating MOS?

Littlesez - nice to see you on more and lovely that you're so in love with Izzy and being a mum, its really great to see! Am on facebook - initials MS - photo of me and my eldest as a baby in a little white snowsuit on my profile pic. Let see what news at my end - Danny now has 3 and a half teeth, when not teething a very smiley little man who likes to click whistle squeak like a dolphin, crawl or cruise everywhere (he walks pushing tables/block trolleys or holding hands but cant turn around and not confident enough to walk on his own yet) and a bit of a gourmet baby with a penchant for blackberries and nectarines and chicken this week. Hates formula (roll on 1 year old when we can get him onto real milk during the day) but loves bfing morning and evening and in the night. Looks like a little elf with dark brown hair, blue eyes and two perfect little round spots on his cheeks due to teething..

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 30/12/2009 10:44

Oh, and Danny is forever getting compliments on his eyebrows as well as his eyes as they're apparently quite expressive... He does a good number in a raised eyebrow just before he starts creating havoc..

Pluto · 30/12/2009 11:16

Aha - so glad to have found you in active convos - just the spurt I needed to come in and wish you all a very happy 2010 and massive, massive thanks for being there when we were all anticipating and celebrating the arrival of our beautiful babies in February. 2009 has been fantastic for the
pluto family, I feel so blessed to have Albert after so many years of trying for DC2.

I'm back to work on 18th January after my year's mat leave. I've got very mixed feelings about this but we need the money so I just have to get on with the juggle and be grateful for the nanny share we've sorted. Perhaps DH will get his much deserved promotion soon and we can have a rethink. At least I have Fridays off.

Albert continues to be enormous. He has his 2 bottom teeth and two coming through on the top. He's not very mobile, although he is starting to show signs of commando crawling and bottom shuffling to get places. He's very happy to babble away and blow rasberries and generally explore the toys within his reach. In comparison to his big brother he has been a very easy, laid back baby.

So, we'll see what 2010 holds for us. I'd love another baby but I'm 40 in March and DH is 48 in May, so overall I think we need to be thankful for what we have.

You can find me on FB in the Fab Feb group - I'm RM but you may find it hard to add me as a friend as I have high privacy settings due to work policies.

Happy new year everyone!

nkweto · 30/12/2009 13:45

Hello all, and another early Happy New Year. I am also going to try to contribute a little bit more in the New Year! I am hoping that I will get to see some of you on the 4th...any more thoughts on location etc or should I be checking the FB group ?

For all those returning to work soon... it is tough initially but it does really get better.. unfortunately my DH and I are really struggling at the moment.. but hopefully we will manage to re-connect again. DD has started walking and is generally super cute trying to keep up with her big brother, am very lucky as they play well together..

anyway..hope you are all well ...

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 30/12/2009 14:10

Hi Nkweto and Pluto - lovely to see you on and so great to hear your little ones are doing so brilliantly. Nkweto - sorry to hear you and DH are finding things tough - I find things always seem harder in the winter months when it is so grey and grim all around. I hope things get better for you soon.

Plan for meet up on 4th is somewhere centralish near-ish to Victoria (to ensure MoS can make it) - will put my thinking hat on and post a couple of suggestions of places on here. Would 7ish work for people? Am flexible. Will start a thread on the facebook group for mobile nos. All are most welcome.

littleboyblue · 30/12/2009 14:31

Afternoon
NKweto and pluto hi nice to 'see' you.

Having the day from hell here. Dp's on nights and Jacob has been a fucking nightmare.
I have had a good old cry and feel better now (although that's probably because Jacob is asleep......)
I swear, if I hear the words "mummy need poo-poo" 1 more time today I am going to crack!
On the positive, Luke took a few steps holding onto the brick trolley! Yay

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 30/12/2009 14:54

Oh LBB - - sorry you're having a tough time. Remember - this too will pass! Am sure the novelty of being potty trained will wear off soon enough for him... What's the weather like where you are? Would getting out for some fresh air this afternoon help tire him out? Sending you strength. And go Luke with the bricks trolley

Right - 4th Jan meet up - there is the choice of the following all relatively near Victoria station:

Giraffe (Pan Asian fusion food - nice cocktails though) on Wilton Road

Kazan - turkish food (never been there) on Wilton Road

Dim T - dim sum restaurant (usually quite a good spread of stuff) - on Wilton Road

Queesn Amrs Pub and Dining Room - gastropub on Warwick Way (would need to book a table if heading there as gets quite busy normally)

Zizzi - italian/pizza place - on Cardinal Walk

Pizza Express - tried and trusted - on Victoria Street

Please place your votes for where you'd like to go to. Have deliberately tried to keep it quite mainstream and not too expensive given we'll be in the lean month of January...

littleboyblue · 30/12/2009 15:23

Thanks dinky It's raining, but I did bundle them into pushchair and marched to tesco. He's had a nap so is a little better.

nkweto · 30/12/2009 15:59

lbb we have been having the 'indoor craziness' here too... think we are going to the park tomorrow rain or shine!! Does it mean that Jacob is going to the loo for poo poo though.. we have nearly cracked potty training with DS, BUT poo poo accidents are very regular here sadly...

dinky, thanks... suspect it is more than 'winter blues' with DH but we shall see..

I am easy about locations..though did like the idea of cocktails

littleboyblue · 30/12/2009 16:42

nkweto Jacob has been using the toilet for wee's and poo's for a good few weeks now. We started with the potty a few months ago and moved to the toilet not so long ago. He's fine going, no problems, he is just obsessed with his winky and saying the word poo I think . He goes twice every morning (poo).
Ds1 will get very distressed if he has an accident and will scream if he sees poo on the floor.

katieblirdsnest · 30/12/2009 19:56

i'm back...have had a brilliant time especially as I is so much better after weeks of just not being right with one thing or another. dd has been wonderful too.

I crawls so fast around the house and is particularly keen on any small gaps that he can attempt to tunnel his way through. he's pulling himself up on anything and everything and has taken a few steps with a push along walker. he's got four teeth, the top ones are massive, just like mine poor thing! it really changes the way they look when they get teeth. he is, of course, still completely handsome.

i'm up for the meet up on the 4th. giraffe sounds good (might be the cocktails bit that's pulling me in) but anywhere is fine with me.

lovely to see you on here again littlesez and i'll go and befriend you on fb. initials sk, some old summer photo of me in a pink dress.

nkweto i hope things get better with you and your dh. at least you're acknowledging things need to be worked at which is an important first step.

one of my presents to dp was a weekend in rome at the end of jan with my parents looking after the dcs. i can't wait...a present for him or me?!

lbb you've reminded me of that slightly more clingy, just potty trained bit. as i've forgotten it so readily it must fall into the this too shall pass dinky rule.

littlesez · 30/12/2009 20:13

Thanks for the mini updates, Isobella is a delight at the mo we had a tough time with the separation anxiety thing but lots of slinging and cuddles, 3 months later we came out the other end! she is very independant now not long til walking i suspect although she enjoys me walking with her so much she might just do that for a while! SHe likes stairs, anything loud like shakers/drums/general banging things together, and is a little giggler.

She also has 3 1/2 teeth 1 first was hell but rest not too bad.DINKY i am so glad to hear of your morning and evening BF thats lovely I am still loving the feeds now they are not every 2 hours

and the shock of the century she is finally doing a bit of self settling after me feeding her to sleep since for ever!

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 30/12/2009 21:23

Glad you had a good xmas KBN and that I is much better now. Must be a huge relief. So of your weekend break to Rome - you guys will have a lovely time! DH has booked us a weekend away in Yorkshire in March with the aim of leaving our boys with my parents on the way there... looking forward to it.

Has anyone heard from STW? Hope that Sam has made a full recovery and she had a nice xmas. Will text her to check if she's up for the meet up. Sounds like Giraffe is getting the most votes so far - does a 7pm kick off work for you guys?

drinkystinkyuletidegubbins · 30/12/2009 21:25

Right - am off to MIL's tomorrow for new years so wishing you all an early happy new year.

herbgarden · 30/12/2009 22:03

Hello !
I can't actually believe that it's about 3 months probably since i posted on here....things have been very mad with going back to work/work stuff in general /applying for planning permission for our house and all the stuff that goes with it and generally just looking after 2 kids and a husband who works long hours oh and illness after illness (nursery...).

Skimmed through so that I didn't feel so out of touch but nice to see you all still posting on here..

DD is going to be one end of January - I can't quite believe it. I absolutely adore her at the moment - she's motoring around but I suspect won't be walking for a good few months. DS was a 14 month walker so I suspect she'll be similar. She's started to pull herself up and kneels up a lot.

The two kids are sweet together although DS does struggle with "sharing" with his sister- the "yours is mine and mine is my own" philosophy is the one he likes to live by! but I am loving watching them chase each other around upstairs while I potter around with both of them in hysterics - I am waiting for the day when he's chasing her around trying to throttle her .

Otherwise, we got our planning on our house in late November (sorry to hear of your planning woes dinky - it's fairly easy round here as all the houses are different so no one set "standard" IYSWIM)so we've been trying to get more drawings done to enable us to pin the builders down to a firm contract price. We're sailing fairly close to the wind financially so we don't want too many surprises which means that we're trying to do most of the legwork now....that's all well and good but it takes a hug amount of time and DH does seem to somedays think that I'm his PA...

ANyway, I'll try to get on her more in the NY...and be a better Fab Febber poster !
Happy New Year to you all...!

mumoverseas · 31/12/2009 07:33

hello all, welcome back herby good to 'see' you.
DD (3.3years) is just the same with sharing. Her idea of sharing her sweets, biscuits etc it to eat all hers and then 'share' ours
H is pulling himself up on everything and walking around the furniture. He took 2 steps a couple of times yesterday and then frightened himself so got down and crawled the rest of the way. Still no teeth though

dinky ice skating the other day was interesting. It was just at a local farm in a litle covered area and the 'rink' was tiny, around the size of a netball court. DD had a fab time though and was fun to watch. DD1 and DS1 went around with her and I helped a few times whilst H just sat in his car seat unable to move as he was so well wrapped up. DH lasted about 10 second on the ice before deciding it wasn't for him.

ooh, meant to say, thanks for your suggestion ref the good gifts the other day. I mentioned it to DH and said I'd rather that in future and about an hour later I was informed that my 'late' christmas and birthday presents were cleft surgery for a child, schooling for a year and eye surgery for a child. He said that he'd felt really bad when DS1 and DD1 gave us our presents as he could see they had actually given thought to what they'd bought (ok, with the exception of the take that calender DD1 bought DS1 from a poundshop)and he felt guilty about his lack of thought Good result all round and three children in Africa will now benefit.

LBB sorry you had a crap time the other day. Its very tiring with the potty training isn't it. I remember with DD being on the verge of murdering her when she finally got the hang of it.

ref meet up, thanks for all the suggestions near Victoria, that is really helpful for me. Don't normally admit it but have a real fear of travelling in London, I get very claustraphobic and tube brings me out in a panic. I will go with whatever suits everyone, it all sounds lovely
