CSWS apparently it is better on the phones. Bigtech is crying in the shed as we speak.

Star it shouldnt take too long. But they are busy with the huge amount of complaints they are getting tonight!!

Ekka. Did the dietitian give you a list of things that you & M can eat? What a nightmare for your family. Do they tell you the severity(sp Star if you dont mind) of each allergic response? If some not too bad can you still eat them? Also I would push for a specialist referall. There are new studies being done to help treat bad allergies. I know of one in Cambridge which has cure children of peanut allergy!!

Go sta-ar, go sta-ar

Deletion varies from a few mins to a few hours IME - just depends how many/who are working.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/10/2009 21:45

Looks similarly spacey on my phone ronshar.

CSWS & Star- Parking in Greenwich Park itself is usually very easy as whenever we go there are always spaces.

aubergenie · 28/10/2009 21:48

I can do either day. Definitely don't want to miss out on another "do".

star6 · 28/10/2009 21:49

lol thanks for the cheers, csws! DH is next on my list to be assertive to once the school thing is sorted!
SPeaking of cheers - there's a mom at my school who often mentions that she was once a cheerleader and is very proud of it!... we're all a bit like why would anyone ever admit to that like it was their greatest achievement. She is, of course, American!

Ronshar - very interesting about the allergy treatments! What do they do exactly? I'd like to read those studies - where would I find them?

aubergenie · 28/10/2009 21:51

Ugh gross - I just trod on a slug that had come in under the kitchen door.

star6 · 28/10/2009 21:51

would a meet up be a "do", too?? What's the requirement for an event to be a "do"? I assumed that normal playdates and stuff couldn't use that word. It is just for parties or for other stuff as well? I like using it when I can

There's nothing different about MN on my computer... weird.

star6 · 28/10/2009 21:54

oh Poor slug One of my students killed a ladybug by accident today (oh, ladybird) and was sobbing and sobbing with remorse. It was an accident of course. Poor ladybug and poor little girl

ronshar · 28/10/2009 21:56

Star I think if you look up Addenbrooks Hospital you may find something there.
They have been giving teeny tiny doses of peanut dust to children who are at the most severe end of allergy spectrum. Slowly increased until they are eating 5 peanuts a day.
I have a friend who lives in Cambridge. Last time I saw her, a friend of hers was telling me about her niece. The niece was part of the study. A bit she said, he said but I remember the adverts asking for participants. Not sure they have published yet though.

CSWS, I dont like it. Can you make them stop. You were able to defy the posting rule. Make it stop.

ronshar · 28/10/2009 21:58

Anything that means I leave the house having brushed my hair qualifies as a "DO" for me Star.

Poor Aubergenie. Did it get between your toes. Yuck.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/10/2009 21:59

I just took a look at the thread ronshar, and loads of people seemed to be moaning about it being too squashed, but for me it's all too spacey, but with messages cut short and stuff. Too much bloody advertising other MN stuff on the right for my liking, but there has been for a while. I have an ad blocker which stops me getting actual ads for other things.

OP posts:
star6 · 28/10/2009 22:00

yeah csws and have them delete my post 249 as well . Use those connections!
Seriously... what is everyone going ON about?? There is NO difference to MN!! I see no changes!

I'm going to look that up, ronshar. Very interesting. Sounds like a logical approach, too... I wonder why no one ever thought of it before?

RachieW · 28/10/2009 22:01

Have we set a date for the Greenwich meet up or is it a theoretical Saturday or Sunday? Am confused!

Aubergenie- forgot to answer your question about the cake. I'm making it tomorrow for the party on Saturday. I just need to point this out as well in case you see my fb photos and think that the iced bun is my cake Oh and I hate slugs..urgh. Sorry Star!

I am also very annoyed with this page stuff, I have to scroll down for ever.

star6 · 28/10/2009 22:02

hmmmm Well, sometimes I'm too busy in the morning to brush my hair before work... then other days, I can (it's not crucial - my hair is straight and does the same thing whether I brush it or not, I just think it looks nicer brushed)... so sometimes going to work is a "do" and sometimes it's just work

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/10/2009 22:04

We've all telepathed the date to each other Rachie - have your telepathic powers made you left out?

Is this where you live star?

OP posts:
star6 · 28/10/2009 22:07

I live about 5 minute drive from there, yes!

star6 · 28/10/2009 22:11

yay! Post deleted!
TBH in the area in which we live now, no idea about schools. We'll move a bit further out once we sell this place - probably closer to where I work, which is nice and green. HOpefully. And once we do that, local schools wouldn't be an issue tbh, they're all probably more than fine... but I'd like Q to go to my school because it would work out so well for me getting to spend some time with him still in the middle of hte day and bringing him in with me...etc. Just would work out so well!

ronshar · 28/10/2009 22:13

My own experience of allergy medicine tells me that they are only interested in treating the symptoms. I see an allergy specialist in London and so far all he has done is confirmed my allegies and tried me on meds to treat some of my symptoms. Not even the symptoms that have the most impact upon my daily living. I have had no sense of smell for nearly two years. He doesnt seem to care!! I have asked why they cant treat the allergy but no real answer. Yet.

star6 · 28/10/2009 22:20

That does seem silly, ronshar.
Are the meds preventing you from smelling? Or allergies? How awful!
I am allergic to asprin and ibuprofen. And anything that is made with any of the stuff that makes those. I can take paracetomol (sp! ). and it totally sucks because it doesn't really help real pain. I do have a migraine pill that I can take, though. It's just annoying when I have a sinus infection or a cold or something and I can't take any cold meds!
When we first moved to London, after about 6 months, I was quite ill and went to the gp. They gave me a medicine to help (they had a pharmacy in the clinic) and I took it before leaving. I was 10feet from the clinic on the street and my lips started swelling and I felt my heart racing and I raced back to the clinic - saw a hive coming on my neck in a mirrored window on my way. The receptionist saw me and got the GP out right away. I sat down and was given an injection - which hurt quite a bit and made everything go all strange for a while. Then, I was ok.
GP had given me a medicine with ibuprofen in it. despite the fact that my file specifically listed it as an allergy . Now, I always ask twice at the GP about med ingredients and then twice more to the chemist

RachieW · 28/10/2009 22:21

CSWS- Sob, I have no telepathic powers, do you think I could buy some off ebay?

After Star's hairbrushing comment I remembered something funny J did today. When I get ready for work I let him mess about with my make up, biting the tubes, throwing them etc. Today I was getting ready and he found my blusher pot and a brush. He banged the brush on the lid of the pot and then brushed it over his face. He's clearly been taking it all in and now has a thing for make up

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/10/2009 22:24

rachie.
You could prob buy some off ebay, but the postal strike might delay their arrival.

paracetamol star

OP posts:
RachieW · 28/10/2009 22:28

Forgot the postal strike! Ok I'm off to build a treehouse and live in Greenwich Park. I know what you all look like from nosing at facebook so this means I won't miss the meet up. Oh and please can you all meet at the tea room as I'll be building my tree house near there, they do good cakes.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/10/2009 22:50

Oh what the bloody hell is going on with MN??? Have just spent the last 2 hours sorting photos so am now ready to shoot myself going to bed. I would love an Xmas meet-up depending on how far it was. I might even consider Greenwich too altho would be a bit of a nightmare on a Sun as DH works on Mondays and the trains take twice as long on a Sunday. Might look into flying...

Anyway, I'm off to bed, will catch up properly when I'm less tired. Night all!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/10/2009 23:03

Hmm, just checked virgin trains and seems the Sunday trains are now the same times (2 hours) as the rest of the week. So may be up for it depending on when and whether we can find a hotel. Mightaswell stay a few nights, eh?
