April 2007 - The one where we despair about coughs and colds; sickness bugs; cheeky behaviour and the amount of tinsel and fairy lights ALREADY in the shops!!

hi everyone
what awful news Bramshott, thinking about her and her family (and you of course)
Indith, will stop ignoring you, sorry
SB, glad you've got it sorted, sounds stressful though. Are you going to go back to MJ any time soon? All the other MJ talk has died down.
SOL, hpoe you're feeling better soon
All fine here, been a really busy week and haven't felt like I've had any time. Still seem to have been on MN loads - think I must do it in my sleep . Having some issues with mum, she is very down at the moment and I'm not sure what to do about it

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 05/11/2009 08:00

but DH has taken T to nursery this morning, A is asleep, I have just taken the dishasher apart to try to fix it and now sitting having a leisurely breakfast in my dressing gown

Bramshott · 05/11/2009 09:35

Thanks for your kind thoughts guys - means a lot! I am currently feeling rather useless and not sure what to do to help. I am trying to write my friend (her mum) a letter, but really don't know what to say.

SB - I started a thread here asking what present(s) I could get her to take into hospital. Any ideas from an 'insider' gratefully recieved! The course is supposed to last 18 months I think, because its a low dose as the tumour in itself isn't malignant, just growing, and pressing on stuff. The main worry for them I think is that this may be the first of many courses of chemo as the disease means that these things are likely to come back.

On a lighter note - I have just noticed the new biscuit emoticon - fantastic!!! !

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 09:46

18 months seems so long
don't use biscuit on here - it's already quiet enough

Bramshott · 05/11/2009 09:53

I know SPB . And her parents are both self-employed, so it's a crap situation all round.

I see you have changed back to your non-halloweeny name. Does that mean I need to take the pumpkin off my front step?!?!

CaptainDippy · 05/11/2009 09:57

I do like the biscuit

DH will be working 2pm til 2am today, which means he is at home atm - trying to persuade him to take me to Stabucks, but so far isn't working. Humph.

Starbucks, even ....

Bramshott · 05/11/2009 10:00

Can't you take HIM to Starbucks CD?!?! Tell you need to do important biscuit research so you are in tune with the nation's zeitgeist (or something)!

Right - really must do some work. xxx

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 10:25

it does bramshott!

oooggs · 05/11/2009 13:57

Just filled in my forms for a career break!!!!!!!! and will drop them into work on the way to nursery.

If approved I will be returning on Wednesday 2nd October 2013 a month after Luke starts school .

Taking James and Luke to nursery after school to join Erin & Jack for a group photo. The last one was lovely but L was only a baby and now has so much more hair!!!! Have had to get ready 4 lots of nice/smart clothes (worse than packing for a holiday )

Sorry that was self absorbed

Bramshott - I have no ideas, I am sure mj is the lady for the job

Katy - you must rest [hypocryte emotion]

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 14:02

to L starting school - i know its a way off but still!
just got choc on A's sleepsuit
need to go and clean the kitchen - have truffles to make!

oooggs · 05/11/2009 14:06

I know - he is a baby but I needed to have a return date and how could I justify staying home when all 4 at school?!!!!!

I have no bloody intention of returning

oooggs · 05/11/2009 14:07

I was thinking of becoming a teaching assistant

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 14:12

i'm quite that i'll be going back nearly in 2011 - seems such a long time
am really enjoying dd at the moment, she's so lovely! Last night she was wide awake as i wanted to go to bed and so i was telling her (a little bit irritably) that she had to go to sleep - she just started smiling at me and of course all irritation went - 7 weeks and she has me sussed! Earlier she was doing what sounded like a huge nappy filler, lots of wind, grimacing, twisting her body round, went on for ages! I grabbed a towel to wrap her in and went up to run a bath. looked in her nappy to see the tiniest poo ever, i was pmsl and she looked like butter wouldn't melt,
only thing making me is that i don't remember having this with T

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 14:12

what is it you do (did) atm oooggs?

oooggs · 05/11/2009 14:25

I am a Civil Servant and work for the Land Registry - yes the ones who are closing 5 offices and merging mine with another and making some (my grade) redundant - not good at the moment - so better off out with the hope of redundancy.

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 14:26

oh yes, I knew that, sorry

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 14:26

oh yes, I knew that, sorry

Doobydoo · 05/11/2009 19:06

Sounds like a good plan OOOGGS.dO YOU THINK YOU WILL PURSUE THE tEACHING aSSISTANT ROLE?
Is no one going to avail of my pattern offer?TBH...I was shocked and dared not meet dp's eye when he was flicking through the mag.I always thought I was reasonably eco aware but crikey I am not at that stage.Think I would rather sit on a pile of leaves
Bramshott...What does your God daughter like? How about a doll that can go through the treatment with her? [IFYKWIM]am sure you will get advice from your other thread.Any videos she likes?Maybe a nurse or doctor kit? Also I think fuzzy felts are fab?Littleist petshop? etc.

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 19:25

i thought about it dooby, but no
thanks

Doobydoo · 05/11/2009 19:42

SPB...I was interested to read about you enjoying A and not having the same feelings with T.
I felt like this with M and not as much with DS1.tHERE IS ABOUT 7 and a half years between them.Looking back Im wish I was as relaxed with ds1 as I am now!
I do think it is true about 2nd borns being more chilled...please anyone feel free to prove me wrong.I wonder if it is because we are more relaxed or what?
Weird isn't it?

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 19:44

yes, I assume that's all it is, and I'm sure I must have had this with T, but I just don't remember Irony is I'd have had loads of time if only I'd known it! Well I suppose the lesson to learn is if I had a third (which I won't!!) I'll be looking back and thinking the same so to make the most of it

StealthPolarBear · 05/11/2009 19:45

she is defnitely more chilled and I'm sure its because I am - I remember the trauma and drama of trying to have a shower without him crying, now I'll try to shower while she's asleep / happy but if she wakes and cries, so be it - ot for long

Doobydoo · 05/11/2009 19:46

Don't feel sad you have loads of time ahead[smile}All will be fine.

Doobydoo · 05/11/2009 19:48

Agree SPB...I am much more able to give in without a fight or I am afraid of feeling resentful[which I did at times the 1st time!]
