Hi, Welcome to the new thread, the one where we can't drink a cup of tea in peace (there you go, we could have used that for a title!!)

I was in bodyshop yesterday and M trashed the place. Luckily the sales assistant thought she was sweet as she pulled things off displays and legged it out the shop with jars of body butter (several times)!!, cue me legging it after her with a handful of makeup . Luckily there were no store detectives aroud. She also tried to wear every shoe within her reach at the shoe shop.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only with a daddys boy. And a daddy's girl. Yesterday I went to extra special effort and planned christmas craft activities, invited dd's best friend round, did salt dough and cookie baking...and in the evening she only wanted daddy. And ds is a complete daddy's boy desipte me being a SAHM and meeting his every need 9 hours a day. Daddy is just more fun. Which is really nice, and really annoying at the same time! I'd be complaining if he was clingy to me and I couldn't get anything done though!

We're still waiting for the bill from the emergency plumber...dh and the decorator knocked a pipe when the put the radiator back on the wall last Friday night. We called the lovely plumber who fitted the new boiler at our old house, and they came out and spent an hour and a half fixing it. Unfortunately the soldering iron set off the smoke alarms (which are mains wired so if one goes off, all three do). And while the plumber was there, we got the phone call to say dh's grandma had died. Dh isn't too upset - he only saw her once a year if that and she was in her 90s and had been housebound for two years. He's going to the funeral next monday, but mostly to support his dad. Poor dh's dad retired on Friday - he'd worked at the company for 30 years, said his goodbyes and rushed up to be with his mum and watched her die. I can't imagine the emotion of all that in one day.

Sorry that was a mindless ramble. Is it Friday yet?!

CarrieBo · 15/12/2009 22:29

DG about your ds's ABs, hope he's better soon.

Hopefully · 16/12/2009 08:15

Carriebo sorry about your DH's grandma - and his poor dad!

Poor friend had amazing sleeping baby at birth, and I think got into the habit of feeding/rocking him partly because he was so easy, iykwim - it never seemed a problem when 8 times out of 10 he'd nod off by himself. Then of course it became part of the time, now he needs help for every single sleep. Think she now doesn't know how to get away from that without controlled crying.

DG I am trying to work up the energy to take T out today - he's finally well again, but I was up half the night with a cough I've been trying to shake off for ages.

Can't remember the last time either T or I wasn't ill...

DebiTheScot · 16/12/2009 09:58

What a nightmare Carrie. Really pleased to hear that moving house doesn't get less stressful once you've moved!

I've got 2 daddy's boys too. DS2's favourite word is dada. Carrie I think being a SAHM can almost make them even more of a daddy's boy. Although you give them everyhting they need and play with them and entertain them all day you also have to do the boring bits with them too. I think sometimes by the time dh comes home they are sick of me and just want him.
BUT saying that, even on days we're both at work they usually want dada more than me. I don't mind though! Esp at 6am when ds2 wakes up and shouts dada dada dada dada until dada gets up.

ooo festive smileys . The should become a [christmas pud] though!

Hopefully · 16/12/2009 13:19

T is more than a little bit in love with his daddy. Fortunately I think it'd mostly because he sees me all day - on the odd time I leave him for the day he is thrilled to see me again...

CarrieBo · 16/12/2009 13:46

Glad to hear its not just me. It got me really down on Monday

becaroo · 16/12/2009 16:01

Oh god, no. My 2 run to daddy when he gets in from work as if they havent seen him for months!!!! Little ingrates!

I think its lovely actually - it means our dh have a great relationship with their dc which a lot of dads dont

Very annoying sometimes though

Taking Toby to GP tonight as he has bronchiloits AGAIN. Poor thing, he cant catch a break

CarrieBo · 16/12/2009 19:58

Oh bec I'm sorry about the bronchiolitis again. I'd be interested to know what they do about it as I'm fully expecting at least one more episode before this winter is done.

digitalgirl · 16/12/2009 22:02

oh dear bec sorry to hear Toby is poorly again.

There's been no improvement in DS either, so will be booking an appt to take him back to the GPs next week. So sad when they're like this.

We got caught in the snow today which was rather lovely - if not a bit cold. Think I need a balaclava for DS! Not that he'd wear it.

ninja · 16/12/2009 22:50

So what have I done wrong??

My two are both Mummy's girls ....

But just to prove what a neglectful mum I am, when I gave M her tea tonight she touched it very tentatively (like she does to the radiator in the morning) to check if it was too hot

M back at the childminders today YIPEEEE! Trying to entertain her in the house was.... interesting. Yesterday I took her to the park, tried to dry the slide and while I'd turned my back she's climbed 6 foot up the ladder of the slide

Morning! Am wearing my wonderful new obscenely expensive cashmere dress. It is super cosy warm.

T is actually healthy for once, but I am suffering the cough from hell - was up half the night with major coughing fits. I don't feel that ill, but I'm blardy knackered! Sorry to all the poorly babies, hope they're better soon.

imoscarsmum · 17/12/2009 12:41

Quickly reading to catch up guys.
Had an unusual week - those of you who remember how god damn lucky blessed we were with C sleeping through really early on - will be smiling when I say we've had mixed nights recently. I'm not used to it!!!
I think it's teeth. She went from having 2 back in July, to now having 4 top and 4 bottom and in the last 7 days 2 massive molars have cut through. She has an appetite of a bird so won't have anything to drink (gin??!!) when she wakes and just cries if we try to settle her, so we bring her in our bed. I'm not bothered about rods and backs etc etc - just hate seeing her in so much discomfort that she can't sleep.

But DP and I finish for xmas on Monday night and C will go to nursery till Wed - shopping & cleaning on Tuesday and then.....DP and I have a child-free day as our xmas present to each other. we're doing what we like, maybe even slobbing out in front of an old film in the afternoon. Bliss.

And foxy just read about DD2 in A&E and 'light fluids' - what on earth did the doc think bm is??!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/12/2009 13:27

I hope all the lo's are feeling better soon.

If you find that during and after anti-biots your lo's poos are still vile it may be worth giving them a course of acidophilus (a probiotic) to restore the good bacteria in the gut.

Apart from I think M has got some more teeth coming, he is (touch wood) lurgy free. We were going to see some friends earlier this week but their dd had just developed a cold so we stayed away. I have had ENOUGH of snotty noses, coughs and disturbed nights.

A child free day

Meglet · 17/12/2009 14:21

Just getting this back on my threads.

ooooo, it's starting to sleet!!! And we don't have to go out again today and its roast dinner tonight with home grown brussel sprouts! I can only do chicken when my family aren't likely to pop by at tea-time as I still haven't told them I'm no longer veggie .

Total change of subject (but a rather exciting one I think). I was in Primark today and they do adult fleecy sleepy suits! I nearly popped with excitement when I saw them, I wouldn't need my heating on so much in winter if was wearing one, they even had the grippy patterns on the soles of the feet!

DD is becoming Duck obsessed. Every picture in a book is "DU" "DU" . She went crazy when Something Special and Show me Show me both had ducks on the other day.

Debs75 · 17/12/2009 15:01

We've had some sleety snow as well. It is bloody cold tho.

Robyn has 7 and 1/2 teeth, one is just peeking through.
She can also walk upto nine steps now, they are very wobbly ones but definite steps. Hopefully she will be walking properly by my b'day on Sunday (hint, hint)
I have also taiught her a sign, she can recognise 'drink' and has signed for it several times now. Maybe now she can learn 'sleep'
Robyn is obsessed with ducks as well, we have bought her some for christmas.

Robyn is a total daddy's girl. Her favourite song is ACDC Thunder she changes it to Aaahhh Da Da, It sounds better then it writes. She has a huge smile on her face and giggles after she has sang it.

Can't believe it is Christmas in 8 days, have loads of stuff to buy and not much money left. The Dc's are sorted so I can relax a little bit. Time to decorate the tree tonight. Have been ferrying DD1 to Christmas concerts all week.

becaroo · 17/12/2009 18:24

Fecking cold

Fecking snow

Fecking feck

(On the plus side Ds1's new sled is very new and blue and shiny!!!)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/12/2009 18:33

meglet - you jsut made me laugh twice. Firstly with not telling your family you are no longer veggie - it reminded me of Gavin's mum in Gavin & Stacey. Then the adult sleepsuit cracked me up - although saying that my husband would probably love one as I keep the heating right down!

I love snow, but only proper thick snow. The half-arsed snow we have is shite. Although I may be eating my words when I'm driving home from Book Group tonight

M loves ducks too. Du du du whenever he sees one. He also loved chickens which he calls chooks. His granny has ducks and chickens, so when we go round there the first thing he does is go to the back door and asks to be taken out to see them.

M defo understands quite a lot than I give him credit for too. This morning I asked him to go and pick up his trousers and jumper from the otherside of the room, and he did!

I must stop waffleing and showing off about M

Tomorrow is our last manic day, then next week we get to chill before it becomes all manic over Christmas again. I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet actually.

DebiTheScot · 17/12/2009 22:30

I love the snow but I agree only really when it's proper snow is it any good. It's snowing out there now, will be treacherous as it was icy earlier.

meglet both those things made me laugh too. I saw those giant babygros a few weeks ago and though who would buy that?!

DS2 is into cows, he is convinced that the small white fluffy things that shepherds look after are cows and will not be convinced otherwise.

1317 20.20

Hope your dd's sleep improves iom and I don't think letting her in your bed once or twice will cause any problems.

1 more day of work then got the inlaws down for the weekend.

Meglet · 17/12/2009 22:32

becaroo you need an adult fleecy sleepsuit to keep warm .

iltmimi I only eat meat at home, and not very often. I still like all the veggie food my family cook so I'm quite happy being a fraud .

hopefully Glad you like your new dress, I saw the pic and it looks so cosy.

DebiTheScot · 17/12/2009 22:32

oops ignore the random numbers. Was on phone to mil and she told me her flight number for tomorrow but I didn't have a pen so typed it there then meant to write it down and delete it!

digitalgirl · 17/12/2009 22:33

It's snowing AND settling!

Didn't take DS out today, too cold and I think I need to get him some tights first. Layer up his bottom half too. Any tips on where I can get non-girly tights?

My mum watched him while I blew my last pay on Xmas pressies. Just got a couple of stocking fillers left to get.

Am now broke but very much looking forward to Christmas next week with mum, sis, dh and ds.

meglet hope you enjoyed your roast. How long have you been secretly eating meat?!

ninja · 17/12/2009 22:59

This unjderstanding is useful.

M give .... to DD1
M put ... in the bin
M go and get a ...

She's been feeding the cat and guineas for months

DebiTheScot · 18/12/2009 09:09

We've got proper snow
The drive to work was pretty scary though. School is at the bottom of a steep un-gritted hill!

The kids at school are unbelievably hyper. Last day before Christmas hyper + snow hyper = tears before the end of the day!

Hopefully · 18/12/2009 10:40

Yay, snow! Took T out for a walk at 8:30 this morning to admire the snow. Mostly he looked at me like I was mad

Am wearing cosy dress again, so am immune to the snow, hooray!

mamamuffin · 18/12/2009 12:28

Snow snow snow, I ve just collected ds1 from school on the sledge it was sooooo much fun. We have also beeen to a carol service first thing, its made me feel so christmassy.
