Oh go on then.

I'm rubbish at titles though but I bow down to Oli's cakes and supermum.

Why hello strangers

Yay for school holidays. I imagine Easter must be a nice one, weather getting better but not so long that you all go loopy!

Castles I know, I shouldn't complain. I'm far too used to having dh home for bedtime and to cook my dinner for me spoilt brat that I am I have a pizza in the freezer for tonight though!

Course since I put dd down for a nap a few mins ago I would probably save myself some stress if I went and started packing now. May at least go get bits from ds' room that I'm going to need.

Where you off to, Indith? (I know I could search thread, but am feeling end of term-ish and lazy)...

hi Castles, 30 is fine, thanks, not really any different to 29 I have a lot of spa pampering vouchers, people obviously think I rush around too much for an old crone - now all I need is some time minus dds to use them

Novel writing course was excellent, only 5 weeks, at RACC. Three of us are still meeting fortnightly, with occasional tutoring - scary, but good for me. I spent 30 years saying I'd do it when I grew up too

solo · 01/04/2010 16:11

Hello!!! I'm just going actually as I have got to try to make a start on sorting out my pigsty house!!!
Hope you are all well; I will be returning to chat soon

Indith · 01/04/2010 16:34

Hi Solo

Eli we are off to Bordeaux, Mamie is turning 90! For the first time in years we are all going at the same time so should be nice, especially since Mamie has only recently moved home after being unwell. She's also started driving again [scared]

OP posts:
Elibean · 01/04/2010 20:14

my Mamie learnt to drive in her 70s, and passed her test...I still think she scared the examiner into passing her. Have a great time, I'm so glad to hear Mamie is well enough to be scaring you all on the roads again!

jabberwocky · 05/04/2010 02:40

I hope everyone had lots of chocolate today

My mother handled Easter for me this year. I got some bad news about an old friend and just wasn't up to it. I went to see him Saturday in the hospital. Aggressive cancer, stroke after last chemo session. Somehow no one bothered to tell me that his cancer was rare and rampant. I had asked about him and was under the impression that he was in remission Anyway, just trying to process it all.

Elibean · 05/04/2010 19:17

Jabber, I'm so sorry. Sounds hugely shocking, to say the least

Far too much chocolate, and several 6yr olds: dd1 had a long promised Easter tea party. Now gearing up energy for packing tomorrow, then off to Cotswolds for a few days with DM in tow....

jabberwocky · 05/04/2010 19:44

Thanks, eli. I talked to his brother today and apparently at one point the cancer was in remission but has come back. Still, friend seemed better yesterday so maybe there is still a chance to go back in remission. It's just been hard to deal with. I've known him all of my life but lost touch over the years...He was my first crush...

accessorizequeen · 05/04/2010 20:05

really sorry to hear about that, jabber, must have knocked you for 6
didn't quite catch what had gone on with ds1 running away, what happened?
my dsis has just given us MORE choc (hadn't got her anything feel really really bad now...)
went and saw house a few days ago, first steps towards moving this year! 7 beds, my god.

jabberwocky · 05/04/2010 20:17

Thanks, AQ. DS1 has always been a runner but now has started darting off and hiding. He did it in the mall a few weeks ago and took ds2 with him and that was the last straw for me. He is now wearing a transmitter that is registered with the Sherrif's department under a program for that purpose (also for Alzheimer's patients, etc) I told him it stays on until he proves to me that he will be responsible and stay put.

So, 7 beds ?!!

accessorizequeen · 05/04/2010 20:28

Oh, god I would have been terrified (just thinking about ds2 disappearing off like that with ds1), no wonder you decided on it.
You think 7 is too few? I think we'll probably settle for 5 beds, it's just this one was cheap (cos it has a LIFT in the middle of it I would think), huge and in ideal street/area. If I could only persuade dp out of his move to the country idea. We do that & I spend my entire time driving the kids wherever.

solo · 05/04/2010 23:50

7 bedroos?! I'd willingly give away my virginity for a 3rd!

No chocolate here, we don't do it for various reason ~ finances/allergic reactions, plus I'd stuff my face eat a couple of pieces

solo · 05/04/2010 23:52

bedroos?!

Jabber, sorry you are having grief all round, hope things improve for you.

Elibean · 06/04/2010 08:37

7 bedroos sounds like a great hide and seek game for the dds

Seriously, AQ, how exciting - I really hope the move plans go smoothly. Could be a real (sorry!) lift for you, I know its a lot of work but there's something about moving/moving on/expanding that can feel so freeing ime.

Jabber, I somehow missed the running away bit too - sounds v scary. Is the tagging helping? How has he taken to it? Fingers crossed for more good quality time for your friend...it does sound devastating. Extra TLC for you.

Packing day today...am going to try v v hard to do like Solo and avoid chocolate

castlesintheair · 06/04/2010 08:48

very of your 7 bedrooms AQ. A local friend has just put her fairly crap unspectacular 5 bed house on the market for £2.5 million. We don't stand a chance.

Sorry about your pal Jabber.

Had an awful easter at the ILs. It went downhill pretty quickly after DH's brother threatened to kill DH on the first evening for no apparent reason (other than insanity). Needless to say, we came home early. I am so done with families.

accessorizequeen · 06/04/2010 12:56

2.5 mil? OMG. the thought of anything going for that much in this neck of the woods. DP keeps going funny about the places on Restoration Man, as if!
We are NOT buying 7 bed house, just looked at it. It has kitchen designed for a wheelchair user to start with (used to be a residential home, now owned by disabled woman). I'm very taken with the separate 2 bed flat upstairs though (with kitchenette & bathroom), could I just live there on my own and close the door? We are looking at lots of 5 bed ones tho, hoping this is a 10year stay house so need it if kids have their own rooms. Although really I need a yoga room and they can keep sharing (ha ha). I don't care how many bedrooms, I just want a kitchen diner so I don't have to lock them behind the stairs gate whilst I make dinner.
Eli, when's your house done up so you can move in? Is still months away?
at no chocolate! Keep being given it for the dc's and obviously twins FAR too young to eat it all
anyone else on ads finding they're putting on weight? Is this normal? Went running again in attempt to stave it off (ok, the mass choc infusion this weekend might also have contributed).
Went to Harewood House on the weekend - do you know it Solo? More things to do than Burton Agnes. Now known as Hairy House because ds2 can't pronounce it right.

castlesintheair · 06/04/2010 13:20

AQ, I piled on the weight on ADs which was one of the reasons I was so keen to stop taking them. I was really watching what I ate too. Have lost some of it but am finding it really hard to lose it even now. Think it completely mucked up my metabolism. Or maybe I'm just old

accessorizequeen · 06/04/2010 13:34

Ah. sorry to hear that castles and feel and at same time. I'll be on them until next year now I would think. I'm not watching what I eat, comfort eating but trying to up the exercise as I find that easier to start with. Hate the wobbly bits. Feel frustrated as lost loads when bf twins and heaviest I have been in 6 years! Argggh.

jabberwocky · 06/04/2010 14:03

I've been a little heavier the last few years. Could be ADs, could be age, could be wine...

at 2.5M house!

Elibean · 06/04/2010 14:11

Well, I've not taken ADs but I put on weight after dd2 and didnt' lose it till a few weeks ago (when I finally felt ok enough to do a few weeks of Weight Watcher type stuff - no meetings, just counting points, more or less). Age and chocolate, in my case

Now thinner and older than a few weeks ago, but not for long unless I get back to no choclate - which, AQ, I absolutely could not do until I was sleeping through the night again!!

You are sensible re 5 v 7+lift bedrooms...just seen your thread on it!

Castles, sorry your break wasn't one...sounds awful. re your friend's house, btw - we're obviously in similar area, but ours was hugely less than that!!

Indith · 08/04/2010 09:40

Morning!

Jabber I'm so sorry about your friend.

AQ glad you are house hunting, the 7 bed one sounds a bit much like hard work though! I'm so glad we went for something with stuff that could bve done but nothing that needed doing right away having seen how much stress a "project" house has been causing our childless friends with a decent budget!

France was lovely, dd's sleep has been all over the place of course but it has been so nice to be there with all the family at once. We have eaten far too much and got sunburn spending the day by the lake near the coast. Dd decided that some skinny dipping was in order and had a fantastic time

Got home at 5.30am ish after driving all night, dcs thankfully both went right to bed so I've had a couple of hours sleep. Dd and I are now up but ds and dh still snoozing. Could really do with ds getting up now! I don't want to have a shower or go shopping as I don't want ds to wake dh but we have no bread, fruit or veg so kind of want to get to the shops!

Hi All. Bad week here. Migraine mid week and vomitting today (think it might have been dodgy burger at Hungry Horse). We're all run down with coughs too. Going on hol next week too. Sigh.

castlesintheair · 11/04/2010 08:32

EV, hope you feel better soon.

We've got mice and they are driving me bonkers so if anyone has any advice please share!

EVye · 11/04/2010 20:14

Get a cat.

Seriously. My cat caught about 10 in 2 weeks when we had them.
