mrsmcjnr - Don't know if this is any help, but this is what I started doing ten days ago and DS slept through the night two nights ago (with a 10.30pm feed).

He lost his appetite completely when he was sick a month ago but as he got better he began waking more in the night and drinking almost more at night than during the day - problem. I had just introduced food which added to the problem as he was less thirsty during the day.

So I expressed for every feed one day to ensure he was getting the proper amount of milk. I mixed half expressed milk with half formula (as I wasn't producing quite enough and he won't drink formula by itself and so the half/half mix). I always gave the milk before the food. So 6-8oz at 7am, 11am, 3pm and 5pm..and maybe a little more at 6.45 if hungry, and then at 10.30pm. I fed him at 8am, 11.30 am (although 12ish would have been better) and 6pm. The first night I fed him at 1am when he woke but just nursed him back to sleep when he woke after that. He didn't actually try too hard as think he realised he wasn't actually that hungry, it was more just out of habit. Two nights later I stopped the 1am feed as he was not drinking much at breakfast time so didn't really seem to need it. After that he woke at 4am briefly, then 5am briefly, then 6am, and since them 7am (although was in teething pain last night). He sleeps 9.15 - 9.45 and 12.30 - 2.30 and sometimes a quick nap for 10 minutes later in the afternoon. Obviously I've borrowed a few of these ideas from 'you-know-who' and adapted it a little to suit me, but it has really helped. He is drinking and feeding well and sleeping well too.

Don't know if that is any help to you.

Sorry to hear about your hideous nights.

Congratulations naat - imo if you have work pouring in, whether it is a merit or a distinction is neither here or there. It's a means to an end. My cousin got a first in her honours degree and didn't get a job for two years. Well done you. You must be really proud (deservedly)

bigcar · 27/11/2009 14:44

waves vigorously at snow before dashing off on school run

Naat · 27/11/2009 15:00

Hi all!

Daisy, ohh so happy F is sleeping better! You made me giggle with "you-know-who" Thanks for your kind words re. my MA. I know what you mean and I am trully blessed to be able to do what I like. It's just the nerd that comes in the way and rants Long may F's long sleeping hours continue!!!

Mrsmc, oh dear (((hug))) I have no advice but I see some other Juners are coming to the rescue I really hope A settles better soon. I second the idea of maybe asking DH or some relatives to have them both for an afternoon so that you can catch up on some sleep? You must be extremely exhausted! Another (hug) going your way.

Snow, welcome back! (Both to the country and the thread ) Glad to hear things are going well and that weaning is OK as well. Ohhh I should try pineapple on M!

bigcar, ohhhh fingers crossed here for your DD1!! We don't have the same system back home but I know the wait nerve-racking here and with good reason! Hope she hears from whoever she chose soon! OH! I just read that the Ricky from Hollyoaks and SCD was arrested this morning, did you know??? (gossip emoticon )

strawberry, at those chocolate stories!!! Oh dear!! Hope you had a nice time with your friends My MA was in Interpreting and translating (that's what I majored in back home ). Glad L likes her woombie and hope her (and your) nights improve soon

HI to all Juners!!!

Well, DH is back tomorrow afternoon so not long to go. I'm quite tired to be honest.

The sofa arrived! It's HUGE! Well, anything compared to what we used to have is huge so But it's so comfy, great purchase, no regrets June, I was told yesterday that if you wait until January and can resist the Xmas ads selling sofas you get great discounts

Ouch, M's calling!

Back later!

June2009 · 27/11/2009 16:58

Hey snow welcome back ;) It's nice to hear from you again.

mrsmc big hugs from me, it sounds really hard I kinda wish I lived closer to give you a hand or something. Can someone help you at all?
Last time C. was really unsettled for a couple of weeks and we changed her milk and she's better now. Obviously you're breastfeeding so changing milk is not really on the cards unless you try formula and I don't know how you feel about that.

I'd love to stay and chat but I got so much to do...

Sushi night tonight, looking forward to it!

naat yay for new sofa Ours must be 10 years old now and look it too! I think the three seater wouldn't actually be standing up if it wasn't against the wall

lindsaygii · 27/11/2009 19:45

Hi snow good to meet you..

I'm doing a mixture of BLW and mushed up stuff too, with some khaki muck out of a pot (claims to be 'fruity custard') and fruity baby cereal too.

So basically, whatever I can sort out on the day!

DS also tried pineapple this week, and loved it. Very sweet and juicy I suppose. I felt maybe I was giving him too much fruit and not enough veg, so I've been mashing up sweet potato and parsnip this week too.

I also tried giving him chunks of plain parsnip to chew on, thinking it would be horrible, but he seemed to like it. Weird.

daisy nights sound very hard work. Really feel for you. We're still struggling to get anywhere near the mythical 'sleeping through'. Sigh.

Cheers all. L.

MrsMcJnr · 27/11/2009 19:55

Snowwombat ? of course we remember you welcome back!!! It took me 6 months to get back into my AN/PN thread after I had DS! Sounds like you have been very busy moving country etc, same as I did when DS was 4 months old. How are you finding it? Congrats on your son, what did you call him? He sounds great Thanks for your kind words for me, last night was just the same and there was no way she?d touch the bottle

Daisy ? wow, sleeping through, that?s fab! thanks for sharing. When I was reading that I thought it sounded a lot like ?you-know-who?s? plan. I started reading that last night and panicked that I have been doing everything all wrong but then again I have felt so much more relaxed this time and Aaliyah?s weight gain has been great. With DS I had to introduce expressing and bottles so early that I was really enjoying not bothering this time and had hoped to go straight from breast to a cup and cut out bottles but it seems that you just cannot get them through the night from the breast alone ? that can?t be right but it does seem like the feed we really need a great milk supply for (the one just before bed) is the one that we have the least milk at! I think I will start expressing from one side just before the first feed of the day and I?ll try to get DH to give that to her in a bottle at 6.30pm (she goes to bed @ 8pm) then I should have had time to ?fill up? before the bedtime feed ? that all relies on her taking a bottle though!

Naat ? thanks for those hugs they were needed! Heard that Rikki was arrested but don?t know why?? Enjoy having DH home and the new sofa

Thanks June, you are sweet enjoy sushi night!

I am off to a Christmas Fayre tomorrow with my Mum, hopefully it will kick start some Christmas cheer (and gift ideas)

Just for fun, what 3 things could you not live without for your baby? I?d say 1) fisher price chair 2) play pen 3) fisher price play bricks ?Aaliyah adores them! She loves hr walker too especially now she can make it move

llynnnn · 27/11/2009 22:09

evening all! I really should be in bed while isobel is actually asleep, but just wanted to pop in and catch up with you all first!

we started on baby rice yesterday. after reading my annabel karmel book it recommended giving it at the teatime bottle (about 5.30 here) but Isobel doesnt seem very keen on it at all! she pulls a face and spits most of it back out! Is this normal? Can i go straight onto fruit and veg rather than yucky rice?

she did sleep better last night only woke 5 times, but i did give her a bottle!) think she is mostly waking though because of this darned cough!! wish it would just GO away!! let us all get some sleep!

anyway, enough of my moaning...

mrsmc - sorry to hear you are still having a tough time with no rest, it is no fun! hope A starts to take a bottle and settles for you. enjoy the christmas fayre! I LOVE christmas!!

lindsey - sounds like weaning is going really well! did you just dive straight in with all these different flavours?

june - hi! hope you enjoyed your sushi!

naat - sofa sounds fab! we culd do with a new one, ours has seen better days but we are going to wait until both girls stop getting sticky fingers and juice everywhere first!!

daisy - you are inspiring me to get more strict with Isobel if she is still not sleeping once this cough has gone. as much as I dont agree totally with you-know-who there is a lot to be said for being stricter with a routine that works for the whole family and allows sleep!!

snowwombat - good to hear from you! must've been hard moving country with a new baby! isobel was also born on 13th, cant believe its almost 6months ago now!! how time has flown!

strawberry - love the woombie's, they look so snug glad you have found something that works for you! at the chocolate stories!!

bigcar - hope your dd hears about her uni application soon and she gets the place she wants

skillbo - hope you are enjoying your trip to Spain! very jealous! would love a bit of sunshine right now!

hi to everyone else, really must get some sleep now!! hoping to put up our christmas tree tomorrow if we have a half decent night!!

have good weekends!

llynnnn · 27/11/2009 22:10

sorry mrsmc, forgot your question. i would say the door bouncer, bouncy chair and dummy !!

night all!

lindsaygii · 27/11/2009 22:34

lynnn persist with the baby rice, it seems they often spit stuff back at first (second, third) taste, but then get used to it. Been told this by lots of ppl, and found it true myself. And it is a staple in lots of baby things (also, very easy to make up so good for you!)

Yes, I'm just shoving stuff at him to see how he takes it. Mostly he seems okay, but if he pulls a face I leave it till another day. Avocado took a couple of goes, but then he liked it. Apple I tried four times in different ways and he just doesn't like it. So I've left apple for a bit. Can't be bothered to start a life time of battling over dinner!

June2009 · 28/11/2009 11:36

hmmm, three things...

The dummy too, C. uses it to get to sleep and I'm working really hard on not using it for any other time (working ok-ish so far).
Second, the bloom high chair, we've had it since birth set up as as a cradle and it's been so useful to have somewhere to put the baby in while I was making a cup of tea or wiping the surfaces or whatever needed doing quickly, we've now set it up as a high chair.
Third item I want to say her swing but C. doesn't really use it anymore, she does love her bouncer though.

So, dummy, high chair and bouncer for us :D (this week anyway, might change my mind next week ;)

sushi was lovely thanks, took C to sleep around 10pm and it took me so long to settle her I fell asleep in my clothes and never went back down to our guests .

My best friend is coming over today with her partner YAY, I haven't seen her for 3 months and we're having thai takeaway tonight. (it's so much easier when we don't have to cook!)

daisy5 · 28/11/2009 11:57

I agree lynnn - I have been trying to steer him in the right direction without getting tough, but the sickness combined with great hunger just threw everything and he was getting really unhappy and distressed at times....so I realised I had to do something.

mrsmcjnr - I wasn't completely accurate....I still breastfeed once or twice a day - usually first two feeds or 7am and 2.30pm, as I hope after all this to revert to two breastfeeds and 2-3 bottles each day. But what was interesting was seeing just how little he was drinking when breastfeeding, so clearly just wasn't taking in enough during the day. It's so tough to know if they are drinking fast or just not drinking enough.

Naat · 28/11/2009 13:20

Hi all!

The three things here would be: her dummy (like June, to sleep here + whenever she's really off in her car seat), her swing (it saved my life, I could leave her there to do some odd things around) and her comfort toy/blanket

June, glad you enjoyed your sushi I'd have fallen asleep with the baby as well Hope you have a nice time today with your friend.

Lindsay, same here, just giving her things and seeing how it goes Up to now she's only made faces with avocado but I'll try again in a few days

Llynn, hope I's cough is better now and that you managed a better night last night

Mrsmc, hope you had a better-ish night ((hug)). I think there was a crash involved but don't know much more. Maybe bigcar will come and fill us in

Hi to all Juners!!!

DH is flying from London now and will be here soon!! We've missed him He doesn't know the sofa has arrived so he'll be in for a surprise

Cloudy and reaaaaaally cold up here today but I'm not planning to go out so it's ok

Hope you have a nice Saturday, lovely Juners!!!

Waves!!!

hi girls,
Thanks for the welcomes, it's good to be back .

3 favourite things- 1.spew rags (cloth nappies for mopping up the continuous streams of vomit- Angus has terrible reflux)

  1. dummy
  2. rocker/bouncy chair

Catching up with the thread made me hungry- naat I love empanadas- do you have a recipe?
june glad the sushi was yum!Must find somewhere locally for some.

Did I correctly read naat that you were throwing out expressed milk cause it went off? The fat separates out of the milk fairly quickly but it is fine even though it looks curdled. All you need to do is shake it before giving it to M.

Have been attached to a breast pump for the best part of 4 months so if anyone has any expressing questions, fire away!

So sorry that sleep is not coming easily to so many. I feel v guilty in saying A slept through for the first time last night!830-5am.

Dinner ready, off to watch Strictly-wonder if Ricky will be dancing

Naat · 28/11/2009 20:03

Snow, we didn't make them from scratch because a friend of ours gave us the dough ready to fill just like back home He has a restaurant so he imports those in bulk

The milk, unfortunately, was off I hadn't realised until I tried to feed M and she wouldn't take it, I tried and tried and wondered if maybe she had gone off bottles but I don't know why it occured to me to open the bottle and smell it and it was definitely off, it smelled awful I felt so guilty, I was trying to make her drink it and she obviously knew better Then I realised it was the fridge from the old flat, which wasn't working properly

Off to watch X factor, it's finally down to decent singers

Waves to all!!

lindsaygii · 28/11/2009 22:16

Three things:

  1. Lamaze dragonfly, now sadly chewed and grubby but still much loved
  1. Dummy!
  1. FP Reclining bouncy chair ('rewards baby's natural kicking action' yik) with vibrate function. He's just got too big for it and he really misses the things hanging off the arch clacking together.

DS had a bit of breadstick today. Seemed to like it. Is there anything that boy won't eat? I am worried about the future - he's going to be a right fattie!

bigcar · 29/11/2009 15:23

afternoon all

MrsMcJnr, hope you had a better night I hate to say it but E has been sleeping through for ages on just bf, he's only woken a handful of times in the night recently and that's usually been mine or dhs fault! He doesn't always want to go to sleep at bedtime but that's a whole other thing I think it's part of that, all babies are different thing, that's why GF works for some and some hate it, doesn't mean anyone is doing anything wrong, it's just a case of finding what suits you and A! How was the christmas fair, get many ideas?

naat, can we take it from that that you weren't a Jedward fan I had heard that they went out because they stopped people from the Irish Republic from voting, don't know if that's true or not. Yes, I heard about Ricky Whittle, I think it was something to do with a car crash, they said at one point they weren't sure if he would dance last night, you could certainly see he'd missed a lot of training. Poor old Natalie, it really wasn't her dance, it's by far her worst, shame she went out I liked her, at least she has a bit if character! What did your dh think of the sofa, bet he missed M loads while he was away

june, I love thai food, one of my favourites My parents took me to Thailand a few times many, many years ago and I've been hooked ever since! Hope you had a good time with your friends.

lyndsay, I like parsnip, especially roasted, it can be quite sweet, I always put it in stews. My mil hates it with a passion though, she always says I'm being cruel making the dcs eat it!

llynnnn, babies often push food out of their mouths at first, it's a new skill to get used to You can persevere with the rice or go straight to fruit and veg, some babies aren't that keen on babyrice as it doesn't really taste of much, you could always add a little bit of fruit to it and see if that makes a difference. I hope I is feeling better, Es cough has now turned into a chest infection it's not nice is it, poor little things.

snow, good on A for sleeping through, lovely name Are you all settled now?

3 things, hmmmm. E likes his muslin, got rather attached to that now, I like the sleeping bags, E would be frozen without one, he's too much of a wriggler to stay under covers. I would have said his little rocking chair but just recently he likes being on the floor having a good old move round. His sling was a must have not that long ago but he's now happier in the pushchair and he's too heavy to carry about for long now! So I'm a bit lost for a third thing.

thanks for all the kind thoughts about dd1 and uni. She applied to 5 and 2 turned her down flat so she's quite anxious to get reasonable offers for the remaining 3!

it's dhs grandmas funeral tomorrow She was 89, had a good innings but that doesn't help much at the moment.

must go and make sure everyones clothes are ready.

waves to all

Skillbo · 29/11/2009 15:40

Hello lovely ladies

Hopefully will have enough time to catch up before Jazzy wakes from her nap. Like so many of us, she's not been sleeping that well at the moment... not really helped with us being away from home and in a new cot!

Back on the weaning here and not going tooo badly. However, seems to work really well when my mum feeds her, not so well if I give it a shot . Like Snow, pear is definitely her favourite - practically ripping granny's arm off to get at it!!

Naat - congrats on your new sofa - would love one of those but sadly have more things to spend money on at the mo. Hope DH being back has helped - am soooo looking forward to my DP stepping off that plane tomorrow. My parents are great but they are getting on (my dad was 70 the week before Jazzy was born) so can't really help with the more practical things like baths! Oh, and had the same problem with milk here and think it was the fridge being too high?

Bigcar - Yay for your boy putting on so much weight. Jazzy is still a little way behind doubling her weight but am hopeful she'll only be a little off by 26 weeks. Not for another couple of weeks yet so will try and stuff her until then. Hope your DD gets her place!!!

Linds - just so you know, the heavens opened this afternoon and it hasn't stopped raining for about 3 hours - had been hot but think this could be a sign of things to come!! Also know what you mean about the crawling - Jazzy does this rather funny little 'dance' on her stomach which I am sure, if she could just get her tummy off the ground, would end in crawling

MrsM - so sorry to hear about the problems with A's sleep... sounds so tough, especially with DS. Hope that the new regime starts to pay dividends.. I must admit I have started to get a bit stricter at night and now don't pick her up each time she cries - only when I think she is hungry (so after four or so hours!).. it's horrid but am hoping she will get the message soonish.. she only took about 2 minutes to drop back off after a little bout of crying last night so fingers crossed. It will, of course, go completely wrong when I get back home!!

June - wish I'd thought of the tables, would have been so much easier but the nappies were really unpleasant so am sure the other passangers wouldn't have been my friends!! Very of sushi - tried to avoid it when pregnant and just haven't got stuck back in but its one of my favourite things!!

Strawbs - glad to hear you've found a sleep solution - the woombie looks very cosy! Like Lynnn, we feed Jazzy around lunchtime rather than the evening as she seems most up for it... like everyone keeps mentioning, has had no effect on Jazzy's sleeping yet! Using veg for teething is a good idea - my mum suggested a carrot so might give that a whirl as think her toothypegs are really bothering her at the moment!!

Snow - HELLO!! I love love love the name Angus.. just fabulous! Might have to try pineapple here - sounds yummy!!

Daisy - well done for cracking the sleeping through thang - here's hoping it lasts for you... sounds very complicated but if it's working, well worth it!

Three things we couldn't live without

  1. Shawl (still use for every nap even though not swaddled)
  2. Bouncy chair - lifesaver if need to go the loo or wash up etc
  3. Muzzies (various) - bring a smile to her face whenever they appear, and practical too!

I'm sure there are plenty of other things - with my boobs being top of the list, but these spring to mind.

Anyways - going to take advantage of little one sleeping and read my book (parents out for coffee so home alone!!).

Good sleeps everyone

pollydianasmummy · 29/11/2009 19:41

Hello everyone.

Thought i'd say hello and ask for any advice on weaning. Polly is really not interested in anything I offer her to eat. I've tried everything (apple, pear, banana, carror, pumpkin, butternut squash etc - all homemade and hipp jars of the stuff too) but she just turns her head. I am keen not to turn feeding into a negative experience, so at the moment I am not forcing anything into her. She is waking more at night and having big feeds then, so I know she is hungry. I have BF her this far - she really wasn't keen on bottles either so she really hasn't had any experience of food other than breast!

I've thought about Baby Led Weaning, but she is not a baby that puts things in her mouth ever, so I'm not sure she'd 'get it'. When i put a farleys rusk in her hand, she waves it vigorously trying to make it rattle, but it goes nowhere near her mouth. Has anyone got any bright ideas or advice?

My 3 things are:
1 .moses basket - P slept in it till 5 months. It was great to travel with as it doubled as a suitcase for her and my stuff

  1. old fashioned trug - I kept all her day stuff in it - nappies, wipes, creams, etc. Easily transportable between rooms.
  2. Swaddling blanket - P got to the stage where she would straighten herself out when I was wrapping her up - for me swaddling was a relief as I knew it worked and she would sleep through.

We had her Christened last week - i'll put a photo of her on my profile.

THanks all - hope you are all well.

pollydianasmummy · 29/11/2009 19:42

By the way, I was "HelpIveGottoGiveBirth' but have changed my name!

June2009 · 29/11/2009 19:48

Heya!

It's good to hear from a few more people

skillbo and others who have mentionned pear for weaning, do you cook it first?
C ahs had baby rice and banana for lunch and loved it, we also gave her a bit of parnsip tonight and she is definitey getting better at not spitting the food out.
What book are you reading?

bigcar big fans of sleeping bags here too. Do they make some with sleeves? I haven't come across any and C's arms always feel like they could do with a little bit more warmth in the morning.
I hope tomorrow goes as well as it can ((hugs)).
at your milk telling you you're cruel for giving them parsnip, I love parsnip.
dh does project a bit like that, last time told me C would not have broccoli because he doesn't like it. She munched it all right :D

naat I bet having dh back is a delight, what did he think of the sofa being here! He must have missed Mila like mad.
Do you have a favorite on xfactor? quite like Olly here.

snow we watched strictly with our friends yesterday. I like Claudia :D
Did any of you watch "the impressionists"? they do a hilarious impression of davina mc call and claudia winkleman.

stawberry I could have put the gym on my items list as well actually, we've had it since C's around 2-3 months old, took it to France and Cyprus with us and she uses it everyday. Expecially now that she is sitting up she has a different view of the various toys.

Thai was yummy yesterday, enough take away, back to home cooking for now.

It was sooo good to see our friends - even if my best friend made a slightly off comment about the use of dummies being silly...I'll forgive her as she has no children and she did the washing up ;)
Sil was supposed to come by to pick some food up yesterday evening and ended up overstaying cause "she had no plans and didn't want to be on her own" - nevermind that we had plans with our friends...Anyway when she left my friend said something along the lines of "doesn't it drive you nuts the way she behaves around here? (using my laptop, constantly on the phone, helping herself to the fridge, generally cutting people off when they're talking, always wanting to hold the baby to the point that she reeks of her when she left etcetc"
Well at last someone else has noticed!!! I'm glad I'm not crazy. Btw I hadn't mentionned the ongoing ils situation to my friend.

We're slowly preparing the christening which is in a month. mils sisters and family (around 10 people) said they are not coming round to ours after the church, i think it's political and about fil/mil's divorce and I got hacked off at first but nevermind, at least it'll be more manageable and only people we actually want here. Much more relaxed about it all now actually.

right gottago, take care juners!

MrsMcJnr · 29/11/2009 22:10

Hi ladies quick check in before bed. Last night was a little better, she went down at 9pm, woke at 12, down by 1 and then slept until 5, up until 6 and then down until 8. She agreed to have a little bit of expressed milk from a bottle last night and a little tonight so am really hoping that we have a good night tonight too. Really need it as am still pretty unwell.

How are you all?

Lindsay ? sounds like your DS is getting off to a great start with his feeding! Aaliyah can take it or leave it still but did like avocado yesterday.

llynnnn ? I know what you mean, I too should sleep when the baby does but sometimes you also need time just to do stuff and unwind don?t you? I follow that book too, neither of mine have been keen on the rice to be honest, I just carry on with something else the next day. Hope your nights get better too, it is so hard to function on no sleep. DD loves the door bouncer too but DS is a little enthusiastic about pushing her in it

June ? hope you had a lovely time with your best friend last night. How annoying about your SIL Sure your friends forgave you for not going back down on Fri night. I had A in DS?s high chair today, will definitely get her one before Christmas dinner so she can see everyone. If the pear is really ripe you don?t need to cook it but otherwise it is worth doing so for 5 mins or so. Aaliyah has one sleeping bag with detachable sleeves but I think it is a Spanish make. Really hard to get parsnips here.

Daisy ? I am still absorbing the book but am incorporating a few tips each day and I know what you mean about feeds, I don?t think A was taking enough each feed, she is too interested in her surroundings or I was in a hurry

Naat ? I wish I could get A attached to a comforter ? she won?t take a dummy, has forgotten about sucking her thumb and so just wants me as a comforter bet it?s lovely to have DH home!

Starwberrysam ? Aaliyah?s favourite toy is a bug too

Snowwombat ? great to hear Angus slept through!

Bigcar ? thanks for your wise words, I was getting a bit down about it all. What?s E?s feeding routine like? The fair was good, lots of tasty food got some old classic DVDs for DH?s stocking ? like Ferris Buler?s (sp!) day off. Sorry to hear about E?d chest infection, hope he feels much better soon. Hope the funeral went well, always sad no matter the age.

Skillbo ? bet it?s nice to have DH with you. The rain has been torrential here too today but we need it so badly.

MrsMcJnr · 30/11/2009 07:50

Groan - down at 9, up at 11, down at 12 up at 2, down at 3 up at 4.30 - gave up took her into my bed, slept until 6.30.

DH had to start his day 2 hours early today and won't be back until 6 when he'll only be home for 15 mins, a long day for me with no plans (I know I am spoilt - most of you have days like this every day) it is sunny though so we'll go out for a walk and see where we get to

Have a good day everyone!

daisy5 · 30/11/2009 09:50

Fraser isn't strongly attached to things in the way that DD was, except me. He would be happy if he just sat in my lap all day!!!! I guess my list is....

  1. Me!
  2. Tiny Love mobile
  3. Trying to tear the Activity Centre/Gym thing apart.

Which leads to the question, what is everyone buying their little ones for Christmas. We just got a Baby Einstein Entertainer at the weekend.

Also I saw these which are so lovely and my DD still plays with hers so although pricey, we might get one....funky moose

skillbo - it is a bit time consuming at the moment, all the expressing on top of the food prep and feeding, but I soooooooo am loving the sleep. And really needed it.

mrsmcjnr - oh no, another rough night. I really sympathise. In my situation, I now realise that it was hunger making him wake as at 3 months he could sleep 8 hours without waking. The throat infection sickness really disrupted everything too. There are a number of things that I don't agree with 'you-know-who' but he routines worked really well with DD which is why I like to try and work them into our day. It does make sense that most of their milk should be taken during the day. However, as I want him to eat well too I am only feeding him one hour after having milk (at breakfast and lunch) and feeding almost two hours before milk in the evening - but that is because he is a really hungry, large baby. I had to take Fraser into bed with me for a few nights and cuddle him back to sleep to get him over wanting milk in the night...and then gradually he started drinking more at breakfast time.

Fraser sat this morning for 7 minutes without falling. Finally the reflex movement, where he hurls himself backwards, has gone . I'm so happy, as life gets so much more interesting once they can sit properly.

Morning all!!

Quickly before M wakes from her nap

Daisy, awww that's cute, he's sitting all by himself! M stil wobbles a bit although she's really into sitting up Glad to hear things are working well on the sleeping front.

Mrsmc, ouch! Another rough night! (((hug))) HOpe you have a nice day out in the sun with the DC Sorry to hear A is not taking a dummy and has gone off her thumb as well... I remember I introduced the dummy because M was using me as one and it was early days so the pain was just too bad...

June, grrrrr your SIL is unbelievable!! Very for you! I'm sure your friend's comment re. dummy will come back haunt her in the future I was never dead against them but DH was and then had to change his mind because M had other plans I think with babies in general you should never say never as you'll never know what yours will want/love/dislike/hate etc and they'll definitely surprise you. I like Joe, he's really professional and has IMO the best voice, technically... although Olly is great fun and a very good entertainer

Pollydianasmummy, hi! Nice hearing from you again! How old is Polly now? I'm a first timer but maybe Polly is a bit young still and therefore not interested yet? Is she feeding well otherwise? M's nights haven't actually changed much, they have always been up and down some periods very good and others not so much so I didn't guide myself by her sleep... although I know that has been a sign with other babies I'd try again in a few days and then if she's still not interested leave it for another few... Have you seen your HV? If so, what did she say?

Skillbo, ohhh DHs are really handy sometimes definitely! Hope you enjoy your days with him now that he's arrived in Spain. Ohh boobs would make the list here too Hope you're having a sunny day, like Mrsmc, today

Bigcar, how's E feeling today? Hope he's better HOpe today goes well (((hug))) Not a Jedward fan, no. Nothing personal, it's just that if it's a singing competition then you should be able to sing. And the media frenzy that followed was just I thought Ireland could not vote, I heard Louis say that on one of the shows... Ricky was on the bottom two! that was a shocker! Do you think it's people reacting to the crash thing?

Lindsay, we seem to have similar babies who eat whatever you put in front of them I'm being cautious but she just downs everything!

Hi to all Juners!

DH brought some pressies for M. Some sent by his family and one sent by her godmother, which was absolutely lovely! A set of a pillow, a blankie and a toy dog, all in the softest and cutest fabric and design. M loved them MIL gave DH a pair of earrings for me, although she knows I don't wear any The worst thing is she told DH "oh, she doesn't wear any, does she?" when giving them to him Let's leave it there

Nice day here, albeit cold Mila rolled both ways yesterday and several times!! She was loving it and kept doing it DH was thrilled.

M's monitor has decided to stop working, although it was used not new so... we're getting a new one soon. I'm going to check ebay to see if there's a good bargain

Right, I'd better make myself useful

Waves!!!
