sazz - sounds a lovely day with your pfb (until the bedtime bit). it is always special to have time with the big ones

I am off to stuff some more envelopes for dh, while feeling dizzy and ow-y after cracking my head on a friend's sideboard today. H was about to pull someone else's buggy on top of himself, so i leapt to stop it, then as i came back up I thwacked my head.

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 19:46

She's actually quite resourceful miamla. Knocked herself up a beef wellington for lunch and then cleaned the kitchen for me - quite a revelation

miamla · 08/10/2009 19:55

blimey Sazza, you've got her well trained at such a young age!

i've had an interesting couple of days with DS. i think i've been near every single judgey mum in my county!
we went to a toddler group yesterday. was good. DS seemed to enjoy running round but unfortunately neither of us knew the 'unsaid rules' ie specific toys only allowed in specific areas etc.
Today we've been to the nursery rhyme sing thing at the local library. for the first half DS sat nicely on my lap, clapping along. for the second half in ran riot, threw books, had a tantrum when i took the book off him etc etc

i'm wondering whether people think he's older because of how he moves and therefore should be better behaved. I think the main problem is that he has the mobility before he has the understanding. anyhow, we left when he started pulling the posters off the wall which popped drawing pins out onto the babies' blanket. Sigh. why oh why wouldn't you use blu-tak in the children's area???

off to make dinner now but i'll def be back so please stick around, i need entertaining tonight....

Evening all

I HAVE A COOKER! Now they just need to remove a downpipe to get it into the house.

DD fast asleep after a very bland yummy dinner at the ILs. Waiting for DH to get out the bath so I can get in.

Miamla - We have a similar problem with DD at NCT, she is one the only ones walking and is now at the running, jumping climbing stage so although she is little they assume she is older and tut with their judgey pants on, it is supposed to be birth to 15months.

Sazzles - It was a perfect day for Westonbirt.

ALBS - hope you head is better soon, if you are still feeling woozy in the morning please see a doc.

Steaky - sorry for calling you Streaky

dizzydixies · 08/10/2009 20:03

lordy don't have a sodding moment this week sorry - hope all well, am trying to keep up but not very well

have managed to book hotel for NY though which is very exciting (thank god for cheap deal websites and credit cards is all I'm saying) city club hotel NY fingers crossed the photos are true to life [meep]

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 20:03

Oh bless him miamla. I think you are right that people will think he is older. My friends DS looked about 5 when he was 3 (very tall). She got all sorts of comments/judging as people thought he was school age and therefore should be able to more controlled/reasoned with)
Short of making him a T-shirt with I am 14 months old on it i'm not sure there is much you can do . Having said that, if you can find a nice small toddler group where you can get to know everyone (and the 'rules' ) you should feel more comfortable

dizzydixies · 08/10/2009 20:04

oh oh oh great news on the cooker Oops

off now to start doing something useful

alittlebitshy · 08/10/2009 20:07

where was the group miamla? the wenesday one I was talking about that i used to take dd to (and ran it at one point - won't do THAt agan) is fab!! When we went back when dd was small(er) they had different zone - cooker/dressing up/trains/cars/baby toys/crafts with running around toys in the middle. Am determined to go next week as the only toddler group we go to atm (linked to church, am on committee ) is a bit pants really. though ds loves it.

steaknifethroughtheheart · 08/10/2009 20:16

PMC + wine = nurofen in the morning.

I love the skills test, what no-one wants to say is "I hope someone fooked up more than I did"

Step it up a gear - slurp

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 08/10/2009 20:16

Dizzy - not far from where you are staying on E45th street just across 3rd Ave is an amazing little diner called Comfort Diner, it does absolutley amazing food and it is cheap too, just further along is a great little food market too called Amish Market, we got all our water and snacks from there as it was cheaper than foodie places within the 'touristy' area.

miamla · 08/10/2009 20:22

congrats on your new cooker oops!

so curiosity has got the better of me and i'm now watching pmc!

dizzydixies · 08/10/2009 20:22

thank you thank you thank you oops - sounds fab

right am really going now!!

miamla · 08/10/2009 20:24

albs it was a church one near where i live. i'll join you at yours next week though if only so i've got something to compare it too! i need to be back for 12 though

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 20:34

DH has been instructed to pay special attention to a Michelin Star creme brulee. 'tis my favourite

I even offered to Sky+ the programme for him in case he forgets anything

dizzy balthazars is my fave NY restaurant

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 08/10/2009 20:36

dizzy am totally of your NYC trip and accommodation, it looks lush. Only spent a few days in NY but really loved it and spent the whole time feeling like I was in a film

miamla apparently it does happen a lot with bigger or more forward LOs, that people who don't know them expect more. I know someone with a 3yo who looks at least 5 and he is always being judged as a 5yo, poor thing.

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 20:36

Balthazar Here

miamla · 08/10/2009 20:42

hmm, i love creme brulee too let me know if he perfects it Sazza and i'll be round to help you test them!

so my suspicions probably were correct re DS being judged. so how do i help him/me?

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 08/10/2009 20:47

ooohh Creme brulee is my fav too and Sazzles isn't that far down the road........hmmm.......

Miamla - I would be tempted to make him an 'I am 1' t-shirt.

Dizzy - stay well away from what looks loike a lovley little pub called 'Smith & Wolensky's' It is where we had our famous £200 steak dinner.

ALBS - please keep get DH to keep an eye on you. Have you been sick at all? if so you need to see a doc

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 20:51

Oops - i am loving your 'like' in a West Country accent

I have ordered 10 perfect creme brulees from DH for when you lot turn up mob handed. I fear he will run for the hills.......

CaptainCaveman · 08/10/2009 20:53

Hey gals, I'm all excited about our norvern meet up . Train landing in at 10.15 so hopefully we are all arriving about the same time.

Hope you are all ok, just trying to make time to read back and catch up. Day off tomrrow and I've already started on the housework this evening, leaving me proper time to mn tomorrow

miamla · 08/10/2009 20:54

oops, that's a great idea! thank you! exactly what he needs. i'm going to get my fabric paints out tomorrow

noooo, we wouldnt scare your lovely DH sazz! we might all turn up at the same time but i'll make sure everyone forms an orderly queue!

miamla · 08/10/2009 20:55

oops, thats what i asked albs, she hasn't been sick but she is feeling queasy.

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 20:56

I suggested it first (but was more accurate)

miamla · 08/10/2009 20:58

well if you're going to strop, can you at least do it quietly?

SazZaVoom · 08/10/2009 20:59

HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
