'Tis much lighter here too Dizzy - bright till almost 11 for much of the summer. I bet that plays a big part.

RedLentil · 25/09/2009 12:59

I'm really glad this week has been better Cyteen.

Your man sounds vile.

TwilightSurfer · 25/09/2009 13:13

I would like to add that after reading stories on MN for several years I decided to go the 7pm bedtime route at the start of school this year and it has worked wonderfully. Not only for the girls but for me as well. I have even caught DH & I in the same room at the same time since implementing the crazy bedtime. He has missed them occassionally but finds time in the morning if that happens. Having a 5 year old and a 1 year old the 7pm bedtime routine has served us well.

Evening out was nice on the friend front but crap on the food front. The location was very hip but the food was too uppidy for me and that's AFTER I studied their menu for a week. I ended up with a poorly cesear salad. Next outing we are going back to Taco Mamacita and STAYING!! Good food, good location!!

I need time with DH! Last night would have been better had he been with me. We could have stopped on the way home and shot pool or something. I miss our running around days....stumbling in a 2am drunk and carefree.

sequinedsteaknife · 25/09/2009 13:14

Bedtimes are definately cultural.
In Spain I think a part of it is that it is so hot in the afternoon the children can't go out to play. In GC no-one would be out in the afternoon but all the mums and babies would be out at 7pm.

Seems in France later too - some of you might remember my long running debate with Mansteak on this one.

Now Izzy goes down around 6.15 and is asleep by 6.30 and will sleep till around 8am. She still wakes most nights but is pretty manageable.

alittlebitshy · 25/09/2009 13:15

cyteen that bloke sounds, er, rather like he is in the wrong job!

dizz i totally agree with you about routine. Our 2 have had a fairly solid bedtime routine since they were tiny and it works whoever puts them to bed. dd had a lot more chopping and changing re who did her bedtime - whereas now i tend to always do ds while dh does dd but if he is out i do both. however, when i was back at work on monday eve I was worried ds would not like it as noone but me has put him to bed for a good 2 months, but i guess the routine is the thing that counts and he was as happy as larry. Not that we know a larry .

ann - I'd agree, gove it a god for a few days. It will make a difference to you and dp to have your evenings longer too!!!!!

My ds is in bed anytime between 7.15 and 7.45 depending on how manic things have got in the run up to bedtime. We aim for nearer 7.15 (bath is at 7) but.......

dd (6) is also in bed for 7.30 but on a weekday is allowed to read til 8 and on a weekendtil 8.30. It seems to work as she had become an earlier riser, so sometimes she manages to sleep and has to be woekn, othertimes she has been reading an hour before we're up (she is not allowed to pout her light on before 6am).

dh is away at an oxford alumni thing tonight. not loving the idea nner/bath/bedtime alone but so looking fwd to an evening alone. And dd is sleeping with me so i get little dd snuffles and kicks in the night.

I plan to order in pizza, and i have the dvd of the secret dreamworld of a shopaholic" to watch. As usual neve rmade it to the cinema to see it so it has been on our love filk list for ages and has come through in time for me to see it tonight. woo hoo.

alittlebitshy · 25/09/2009 13:23

gove it a god? eh? My typing gets worse.. i meant give it a go

TwilightSurfer · 25/09/2009 13:27

ALBS as you are married to a man of the cloth I figured you were just telling her to let god handle it. LOL!!

alittlebitshy · 25/09/2009 14:10

lol - no, that's not my way at all. lol.

dizzydixies · 25/09/2009 17:00

ALBS I do love you a lot for your typos -they're brilliant

am back from hairdresser all swishy and girly my hairdresser (of 5yrs) got wind of the fact I'm on a night out tonight and wouldn't let me do my usual run out once cut and coloured so have been cut/coloured/blow dried and fecking curled she's small but determined I'll give her that at least won't have to worry about what to wear now as nobody will recognise me

have a good night all - not sure when I'll return as all gets a bit hectic from now till next week [meep]

alittlebitshy · 25/09/2009 17:21

cyteen · 25/09/2009 20:19

Oh, sorry hots - I forgot to say that the 13th is looking better for us Midlanders

I would say more but I've been struck dumb by the beauty and style of that mysterious Scottish goddess who just swished through

hotterpotter · 25/09/2009 20:27

Shall we confirm then I was half-hoping to be having an interview on 14 Oct but I've been sifted out so have nothing to think about other than having a larf with you lot oh, what to wear????

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2009 20:33

lol hotter I am off shopping tomorow, to refill my wardrobe, no Idea what with though.

Have already bought skinny jeans. I mean SKINNY/Jodphur type.
Grey knitted top type dress
black knitted dress top with mock striped sleeves underneath and a cowl neck.
Tomorow I am looking for Bras, pants, more tops. Long everyday cardigan type thing.
Skirts, and a pair of knee high boots, preferbly flat biker style ones, as I have heeled ones already.
Wish me look.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2009 20:35

Oh and I will be looking for some tops that are kind around the waistline but show a bit of cleavage. (if I find some good fitting bras)
I have been covered up and felt baggy and saggy for too long. I also aim to get some colour too.

AnnVan · 25/09/2009 20:52

Hi no1 you certainly didn't look saggy or baggy when I saw you
guess who isn't in bed yet?

sequinedsteaknife · 25/09/2009 20:57

no1 this style can be quite forgiving - and you can put a spaghetti strap top underneath or not depending on how much cleavage you want to show.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2009 21:09

annvan how sweet of you to say that. Thankyou.

steaky I like that, I bought a lovely one similar style from oasis in pinks, purples etc..
My dsis said I looked like roseanne barr in it.
just cos she is a skinny biatch.

She didn't mean to be mean, its just I did buy it few sizes too big. (as usual) and than my norks shrunk so it looked even baggier.

I want to do more than black, but not sure what colours suit me, being very pale and now having Red hair too.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 25/09/2009 21:10

I paid £50 for the top and sold it on ebay for a few quid.

sequinedsteaknife · 25/09/2009 21:23

I like this one too - though depends how pale you are, as you could look washed out. I am never very sure about yellow.

Try petrol blues, greens with more blue than yellows in them, conker and chocolate browns, dark rose/raspberry and lots of jewel colours. OR not if you don't fancy them.

Ooh how about this if you want a print - layer it up over long sleeved top and skinny jeans.

hotterpotter · 25/09/2009 21:55

I like the first two you linked to steaky but the last Wallis one is a little too Abigail's Party for me

Good luck wit the shopping No1, I think you should go for a bra first then this will help when you are trying tops on. Remember to get that back band nice and snug

I am wearing the same few things over and over at the moment, have lost 21lb and still have at least 12lb to go so no point splashing out on clothe that are gonna be too big for me in a couple of months I went through all my clothes the other day and made a massive pile of all the stuff that is too big now (hurrah ) so I really need to get rid then there is no going back...

Ann I hope DS gets sleepy soon [smiel]

hotterpotter · 25/09/2009 21:58

Just noticed your post is over an hour ago Ann I'm sure DS must be snoring by now

I've swapped lie-ins with DH, so I can have one tomorrow, hurrah! Which means I am maybe drinking a leetle more wine than I should, but who gives a feck, eh, eh?
