Hope you don't mind the dodgy thread name but all our babies are 9 months old now or in the next few weeks

OP posts:

traceface · 16/09/2009 12:52

sorry I missed you veggie. Any news....we're on the edge of our seats here! Can't imagine what emotions you're going through...tell us as soon as you know!
P actually seemed to like the water and didn't cry. She's just gone off to sleep in her cot so hopefully she'll have tired herself out enough for a long one!
I feel quite shocking. My headache is horrid and I feel sick and have a bit of an upset tum - do you think it could be a migraine? I often get headaches but not like this. Any cures?
My CPN is coming in an hour but I'm sure she'll be happy with me.

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2009 13:08

It sounds like a migraine esp with the nausea too. If you can get out to a pharmacy get some migraleve(sp) or if not and you have some at home take a whopping big dose of ibuprofen (with some food if you can stomach it) I think you could safely take up to 800gms and also your usual dose of paracetamol and have lie down in a dark room (yeah right).

traceface · 16/09/2009 13:17

heard from dh yet veggie?

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2009 13:38

Aaaaaaahhhhhhh we are going to Amsterdam!!!!

urbanewarrior · 16/09/2009 13:45

Wow veggie . That's so exciting. Good for your DH. You'll have such an adventure...I had a friend who lived in Amsterdam for a couple of years and she absolutely loved it.

JollyBear · 16/09/2009 13:49

Hello everyone,

Very odd bold effect until this page, what's going on??!!

kayz Wow at the walking! Still shuffling here.

Thanks veggie, lal and zoe for your support re my rubbish job trip. I've accepted I have to go . I don't want to leave DD but I expect I'll be much more upset by it than she is! I left her in nursery today and was told to leave the premises for an hour. I went back in and she smiled at me and went back to what she was doing. She is turning out to be rather independent.

lal Sorry to hear your asthma has been so bad, it must be a scary experience. Hope things improve for you now.

effie Lucky you having a real fire . That is on our wish list when we decide to move house.

zoe Well done DD on clapping!

WG Hope you are feeling OK. It must be very sad to hear about others dying of the same disease, it must bring it all back.

veggie Our neighbour gave us a few of her daughter's old books and there is one called P.S I Love You which makes me well up.

Oh has anyone read the Mr Pusskins books? We have one story book and a couple of board books from the library. They are really good fun. Oooh and DD can turn the pages! She reaches right over with her left hand. It looks very grown up .

We are off out tonight so it is the in-laws first attempt at bathing and bedding DD tonight. I'm feeling oddly OK about that, I think the work thing was not being there when she woke up but heigh ho.

JollyBear · 16/09/2009 13:58

OOps cross-posted there!

Wow veggie, how very exciting!!! When are you off?!

Ooh it's gone bold again... very strange

daisydora · 16/09/2009 14:31

this is the only thread for me that is bold...weird!

veggie woo-hoo Amsterdam that is amazing! Any idea when you will move?

jolly shame about you having to go for two days. DD will be totally fine, but that won't stop you missing her like mad. Just think of the smile you'll get when you return.

trace sounds like you have a migraine, how is it now??

kayz ignore people and their 'routines'. They don't know what a fantastic job you are doing 24/7. I'm sure they are trying to be helpful, problem is these people and their advice just end up being very...well trying!

DH has taken to sleeping on the sofa with sleeping bag. No we have not fallen out but DS wakes 2/3 times a night at the moment and the only way he goes back to slep is in our bed. I'm sure its his teeth as he isn't hungry when he wakes and when asleep cries a lot. Still he wriggles so much in bed and DH can't handle being slepped on the back by little hands or having DS's bum in his face all night long. So he has retreated to the sofa till it passes. But on a positive note I had our kingsize bed to myself last night till 4am, when DS decided to get in and wail at me for an hour.

Kayzr · 16/09/2009 15:18

Wooooooo Veggie!!!!!

This bold is strange. It is only the post natal threads that are in bold.

TheInvisibleHand · 16/09/2009 15:55

This bold thing makes everything look a bit more frantic really.

veggie - how exciting for you all!!!

trace - sorry you're not feeling well, hope you feel much better soon.

WG - glad Millpond were helpful and reassuring. We have our moments here too. Last night was a good one as DS only woke once at 1am, but the night before was a corker. Had a late night at work, so only got home at 10 and then Mr woke at 11, 1, 3.30 and 6. Much less good. In our case I don't think much of it is about food - its more things like colds/teething. DD used to sleep through stuff like that, but DS definitely needs a bit of TLC.

arti - it sounds like you really made the most of your hols!

jollyBear - all the best with the trip away. I am sure its not ideal, but you are right, DD will be fine and its you that might feel odd about it. I had to do a work trip with 3 nights away when DD was about 5 months old. In retrospect there is no way I should have done it and it was kind of tough for all of us, but we all survived it none the worse...

Trace - thanks for asking about the work situation. No real news here, although I have been calling lots of people I know and getting to have lunch with a few old friends, which at least is fun! Did have a call from a headhunter (and a few friends) about one thing - trouble is its a government job, so massive paycut (less than half what I get now), even though the job itself is quite interesting. Don't think we can afford that so I am not even going to tempt myself by applying.

DS is getting very good at getting around, sometimes where you don't want him to. I did also manage to catch him as he pitched himself headlong off our bed the other day. He seemed to think it was hilarious, which is a bit worrying really.

Kayzr · 16/09/2009 17:59

DH is struggling to breathe. He is just ringing the gp surgery.

Kayzr · 16/09/2009 19:15

He is ok. He has got an inhaler to take.

urbanewarrior · 16/09/2009 20:09

Kayz is everything ok? Does he normally have asthma? It must have been really scary for you. Hope he's feeling better.

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2009 20:58

Gosh Kayz is he ok, maybe he should pop to the A&E just in case. Does he know he can take 10puffs if he needs it.

And Trace how's your head love? Hope it settled down, esp before tomorrow.

Oh my goodness I still can't believe it's actually going to be happening. DH ended up agreeing to go permanent with the company rather than contracting which I'm really happy about. I was a little nervous if he got sick or something esp with all the swine flu stuff, if he had to be off at all he wouldn't get paid. Also he has managed to negotiate some relocation assistance so we should get the move over of all our stuff paid. Also there is all the usual health insurance, good pension and a car, so that's all good. I'm looking forward to him getting home so we can have a chat. He has the next couple of days off because it's his 40th birthday on Saturday, we are taking the boys to Thomasland on Friday but tomorrow we will just have a chilled day. I have bought him an Arsenal away shirt with 'Jordan' and '13' printed on the back. When DS1 was born I got the same but obviously his name etc and I also got him a Barcelona shirt. This year because he got the job I'm going to go out tomorrow and get him an Ajax shirt with Jordan etc printed on it too. I also got him an England world cup kit shirt with his initials and 40 on it, and I also got one for both the boys with their initials also and a 4 on DS1's and a 0 on DS2's so they will all match up next year when the world cup is on.

For his big present he is getting some special posh sports watch. Not really sure what it is as he is sorting it out. I was going to organize a surprise weekend for him with his mates but I just never got it together so instead when we are back in Australia and I don't have small chldren I will organize a surprise 42nd birthday.

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2009 21:01

Invis it's a shame that good job is so crap paying. If they didn't have to pay the head hunter they could probably afford you. So cool to be head hunter though. I've always wanted to be head hunted for a secondment. I always thought that would be the ultimate in how awesome someone is, in health circles anyway, to be wanted for a secondment!

Kayzr · 16/09/2009 21:08

He is fine now. He isn't asthmatic at all. He has been taking some tablets for anxiety and a side affect is wheezing. He has been told to stop taking them. Which is ok as he is seeing the physiatric(sp) nurse tomorrow.

I'd like him to go to a&e but we have no way of getting there or home as mil is away.

Veggie what is going on with our football team?

urbanewarrior · 16/09/2009 21:29

Wow veggie that all sounds amazing. And sounds like he negotiated a great deal. So lovely that you've got some time together to get properly excited about it. I meant to say earlier that I love 'no matter what' - although when I was pregnant I couldn't read it to DS without sobbing. Am much harder hearted these days

Kayz I don't know if it helps at all but sometimes when I'm wheezy it helps to run the shower really hot and stand in the steamy bathroom or I fill the sink from the kettle and breathe it in. Pretty random side effect though. Poor guy.

Trace there was a whole programme on radio 4 today about school nurses - I thought of you. You can probably listen to it again on the iplayer.

Hope new nanny was ok arti. We've got interviews all this week. Am crossing my fingers for yorkshire mary poppins who we're interviewing on Sunday. She sounds so marvelous it almost might be worth eating breadsticks for a month to pay the agency fee.

DH is away tonight. Sigh. He's been so busy with work that we've hardly seen each other. And I have habit of moping around like a teenager when I don't get to see him enough. Pathetic I know. Should take advantage and get early night. Wg I hope the sleep lady is helping.

sybilfaulty · 17/09/2009 07:19

Veggie, huge congratulations to DH on the new job. When does it start?

Lal, good luck with Mary Poppins, hope she works out for you. And how is your new nanny going Arti?

Kayz, that sounds very scary, your poor husband, hope he is OK now.

Happy birthday Jolly Bear. I hope that you have a wonderful day and are spoilt rotten. My thirties were fabulous, so many wonderful things happened, hope yours are too.

Trace, how is the head? Have you had migraine before? Perhaps it is to do wtih the excitement, and unavoidable stress, of starting the new job. Hope today finds you hale and hearty.

My dentist was wearing sick bands yest and when I asked how she was feeling, she said rotten as she is 12 weeks pg with her first! Brought it all back. She is soooo excited and said i had to give her lots of tips. I think it is but a ruse to make sure I keep turning up. All was fine, BTW, but I was at the price!

Hello everyone else, hope you are all well. PMK, I hope you are still lurking and that things are going well for you. I know I only dip in and out but I think of you all lots and read when I can. I am off for a day of birthday jollies but am doing my sponsored walk tom so can't celebrate in true Sybil fashion just yet . The time will come.

LadyThompson · 17/09/2009 09:00

Happy birthday Jolly (30? Such whippersnapperage!) and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Syb as well. I knew it was today as it's my sister's as well.

Back in a minute, DP is hassling me about the incredibly complex arrangements for tonight.

JollyBear · 17/09/2009 09:42

Hello all,

Just a quick pop in to say happy birthday sybil . Hope you have a great day.

My birthday isn't till Saturday but it is lovely you remembered , thank you. sybil that was a lovely thing to say, I hope my thirties are as wonderful as yours.

ladyT Where are you off to tonight? Somewhere fun I hope. The jogging bit I mentioned in Peep Show is the episode with Mark's sister in it. I can't wait for the new series to start tomorrow!

invisible Thanks for your reassurance on the work trip (and everyone else who has said lovely things to me!). I'm very impressed you have been contacted by a headhunter. That must be a good confidence booster!

kayz How is DH now?

DD went went to sleep beautifully for her grandparents and DH and I had a great evening out! Amazing. Sympathy with all those with non-sleeping babies though, whether it be teeth, sickness or whatever. I hope I don't sound gloating . It really seems to be the luck of the draw with babies and sleep.

I was thinking the other day it is amazing no Dec08 mum is pregnant yet. Are many people trying?! We're debating at the moment what to do.

spotofcheerfulness · 17/09/2009 10:09

Top news, veggie. My DP works in Amsterdam and often goes there so maybe me n Mr T could come over and see you there!
And happy B'day JB!
How is the sleeping going WG?

spotofcheerfulness · 17/09/2009 10:13

Ooh, happy birthday Syb as well...

artichokes · 17/09/2009 10:30

Happy Brithday Sybil! Have a lovely day.

JB - I too was recently marvelling that none of us are up the duff. We are nowhere near trying yet, if we go for number three I want at least a two year age gap, I couldn't handle two under two.

Am feeling very shakey about the new nanny. Both girls screamed when I left yesterday and today and although DD1 soon recovered her spirits DD2 screamed almost all day. The nanny seems fine but not amazing. I think the problem is our last nanny really was SuperNanny. Oh dear. Must resist urge to judge too quickly. I hope your hunt goes well Lal, when do you return to work?

Kayzr · 17/09/2009 10:37

Morning.

Happy birthday to Jolly and Syb!!!!!

DH is fine this morning. He has a bit of a cough but apart from that all is normal.

Hope you are ok

Veggiemummy · 17/09/2009 11:07

Oh Spot that would be so cool, we could go to a coffeeshop for um coffee. My head's still in a bit of a whirl and when I start thinking of the logistics of getting us all over there I start getting a bit stressed. But it will happen I know it will and we might enlist the help of an expat moving assitance company to help find somewhere to live etc.

Happy Birthday The very young JB (for saturday) the very lovely and eternally youthful Syb and also to sister of LadyT. Have a lovely day all of you.

Hooray for the sleeping for GP's that's just great and nice you had a good night out JB. I guess as mean and nasty this 2 nights away is at least you know it's do-able.

Poor DH I'm trying to write this post to you guys and he wants to talk to me. So I'm not really concentrating on this post. Just wanted to say, Spot did you say you had found a house is Brighton
