Well I didn't take it quite that far myjob! I went to uni to do teacher training, did the first year, inc teaching practice where I spent half my time confiscating razor blades off 12 year olds, and then decided that I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life, and that there wasn't enough actual maths in my course, so switched to a straight maths degree. They were hoping that I would go back and do a PGCE afterwards, but I never did.

Sand is wonderful fun for them even at this age aubergenie. Yes they will eat some, but no it won't harm them. It actually just comes out in their nappies as it went in.

at fb csws. I don't even know what to say - people like that just really shock me.

I agree aubergenie. Q loves sand. We should get him a sand pit. He tries to put a bit in his mouth. We just say "no" gently and firmly, then he stops doing it - sometimes after a few seconds of a shout from him
And don't feel badly about S falling. It happens to everyone. We were at the pumpkin patch with Q today and we sat him on a pumpkin for a photo (to match the one taken a year ago ) and he fell forward face first onto a pumpkin stem and now has a red.... more purple now, eye I hope it doesn't turn blue/black. There are also three scratches that happened as he lifted his face and the thorns from the stem cut his skin. lovely.

aubergenie · 27/09/2009 19:47

Oh no. Poor Q!

I'm in the crap parents club too then Pistachio. She really is unbelievable isn't she. And presumably after a lovely long sleep too. I'd hate to see what she's like if she ever has a bad night.

I'll get some sand and fill the sand pit up then. I'm going to clean it up and give it to S on his birthday next weekend - he won't care that it's 15 years old. It's plastic so will clean up nicely. I think I should get some little tools too.

Evening all.

Pistachio - Wow to both dc weighing the same! That is amazing. At least it's the right way round, tiny, dainty dd, big burly ds. But I bet you're glad that T is on his feet now!

Star - Poor Q. Luckily none of M's bumps have actually turned into proper bruises - phew! Well done on getting Q to actually listen to No. M just thinks its a game and starts laughing. She knows what it means as she says it to us!

Aubergenie - I was planning to do part-time if I go for it anyway as full time would be a bit much with the traveling to Canterbury (oh what a hardship, I LOVE Canterbury). I will speak to ds's school and see if there is any voluntary work going. I went to school with two of the teachers there so hopefully that will be a way in for me.

CSWS - You are lady of many talents!

M has apparently given up trying to walk. She will still walk the a push-along cart thingy, but won't try to take steps on her own at the moment. However, her talking has progressed again. We have been having little conversations with her. It's very amusing as she looks so ernest when she is trying to talk to us! She is now saying mum-mum on a regular basis and it clearly means me. Every time I leave the room she wails "mum-mum", if DH tries to pick her up, "No. mum-mum". It's very cute. She has also started copying things we say to her. She keeps just repeating sounds back to us. And she has a sound for 'milk' she says what sounds like 'miw' and it accompanies the leg patting.

50ftQueenie · 27/09/2009 20:00

DS is only just 3 stone and he is 6! Pistachio, he is a very big lad! He's tall too though isn't he? I think M must be around 20lbs as she has thinned out a little recently.

Myjob - I meant to say that your post on FB was very good. I was going to comment something similar but went on a rant & deleted it instead!

Haven't weighed ds lately pistachio, but will try to do so for you when I get a minute.
And she'd prob say that in person too. Ah well, at least both of my children have the same father .

CSWS - Heh heh heh!

Pistachio - M does a lot of pointing too, she does double pointing when she really wants something! I'm sure he'll slow down. Neither you nor DH are big, so it be odd if DS carried on at the rate he's going.

RachieW · 27/09/2009 21:01

Hello- 50ft would echo everything Aubergenie posted about teaching. Despite the downsides of paperwork, pressure and the fact that you never finish at 3pm even though all your non-teaching friends think you do I have to say I've never been bored in this job! I trained 5 years ago and did a PGCE. It was really full on and took over my life so I'd also advise part time. It is a great great job and worth all the hard work. I love it

CSWS- Thanks for the snow/pram suit link. I love it! It's just the type I was looking for. As for your "friend" I was flabbergasted by her posting. I did want to put something up too but the only thing that kept coming to mind was telling her where to stick wakey fucking bunny which didn't seem too appropriate from a total stranger I agree her kids will have asbos or bunny phobias that sends them a bit mad or something. I doubt you let this kind of comment affect you, I get the impression you are made of stronger stuff but was very angry and upset on your behalf.

Star- Sorry for Q and Aubergenie for S. I think accidents are getting more and more likely these days. J just throws himself around and is constantly banging his head and is covered in little bruises.

Well back to planning for this week Wish I'd done it on Friday night. I always leave it til Sunday and then regret it. We're taking the Nursery children to Greenwich Park this week to collect autumn leaves. Am quite excited and scared. Maybe I can get them to all hold a big rope that is attached to me?

RachieW · 27/09/2009 21:08

Am very of the Mummm 50ft. J also points. Yesterday in M&S cafe I showed him my iced bun and said "do you want some?" He smiled so I put it on the table to open the packet and all of a sudden he was there pointing making "mmmmmneeeerrrrr" sounds very loudly. I guess I have to be quicker getting those cakes opened

pistachio - 28lbs! I thought Q was enormous at 23lbs. I feel like he's SOOO heavy! I feel like he's been walking for ages now... it's only been about a month!

Yes, it is funny to say he fell off of a pumpkin.... but then people say "how did he get up onto a pumpkin?" ummmm dh sat him there for a photo..... actually sounds a bit irresponsible
Of course, when I sat him on another pumpkin, I made sure there were no other stems jetting out for him to fall on and he sat there nicely for 5 or 6 shots

star6 · 28/09/2009 08:45

HA HA csws!! Good comeback!

Q says "da" or "dada" for everything. No "mama" or "mum" or anything similiar... oh, "mmm" sometimes for food. otherwise he just sort of shouts and makes noise and points. He's gotten really good at pointing with one finger to exactly what he wants... but not really saying much.
He can do loads of climbing, running, maneuvering...etc., though!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/09/2009 08:54

26lbs pistachio, which means, iirc, that he's gained less than 1lb in 2.5 months.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 28/09/2009 09:53

I wouldn't be jealous of the Mummum Rachie. It just makes you feel really guilty every time you need to make a drink/go to the toilet/walk near the door. And we're never fast enough with food either!

The not being bored element of a job is something I really need. I am normally bored after two years of a new job so I never stick at anything for long. I need something that isn't the same every day which is why I thought either teaching, midwifery or for a while I thought about mounted police. Teaching involves the least touching of yuck, being a police officer the most.

CSWS - I expect that M has only put on a pound in the last couple of months too. She is so much skinnier than she was. She has almost lost her fat folds on her thighs and when she stretches out you can see her ribs.

So ladies, are we going to go for a walk in Greenwich park in the Autumn then?

star6 · 28/09/2009 10:03

Q is "thinning out", too But still a chubby monkey!! He didn't gain much over a few months but definitely got taller.

Autumn in greenwich park sounds fabulous. Any weekend... just let me know

star6 · 28/09/2009 10:03

oh and LOL to teaching involving the least touching of "yuck" HA! I guess that depends on the age you're thinking about...?

star6 · 28/09/2009 10:50

Sorry, I'm still feeling about csws fb. I really just can't believe people like that exist. The words she used - so mean!!!!
