Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Frizbe · 29/08/2010 00:14

Noooo it's not, that's posed for photos you can see, I had Meri's dh come round on two seperate days to take the photos (I can't keep a whole house tidy in one go!) Grin photo trickery!

Frizbe · 29/08/2010 00:16

PS: am also now panicking, how exactly do you move 5 people to a new place with all the assorted junk that comes with us Hmm 'gibbers and rocks in a corner'

laundrylover · 29/08/2010 22:11

Panic not missus - you'll be fine. Just take a deep breath when the time comes Smile.

I'm watching the Channel 4 prog about paralympic atheletes which is amazing. I'm really missing running at the mo as still have a measly little chest problem but these guys just get on and do it! Very impressed.

Astrophe · 30/08/2010 02:02

wretched 6 year olds Angry. I have a friend with 3 teenagers, who swears 6 year olds are THE worst. Her teenagers are totally lovely - even she says so!

DD1 is the same - Little Miss Attitude.

Friz, you will be fine with the move. Will be stressful no doubt, but you'll manage. Try not to think about it before you need to - thats my approach! Having said that, I'm going to buy some boxes this week so I can start packing the easy stuff like books a little bit each night.

Had a busy and lovely weekend. Highlights were a party at freidns house who have built a traditional pizza oven in their garden, YUMMMMMMM! Also had a fire and sausages and punch, lovely way to chill out until DD2 got too tired and we had to leave...and other highlight being asked to be Godparents for friends' little boy :)

Cadmum · 30/08/2010 16:43

No time to properly catch up as life feels frentic.

I try to lurk now and then but internet is slow from hom and days are busy with h-ed and such like.

Friz Please send my a FB email link to your house,'

LL Sorry about the playgroup and my mum was from near Dumfries. Her best mate still lives ther.

Astro: I am sorry that you are having to move again. What a nightmare when you are just getting settled.

Uni: I hope that you are well and enjoying the freedom now that your dh has the all clear.

We are now officially beyond the 6 month mandaory waiting before TTC but not sure what the decision might be. Too terrified to even contemplate the options yet.

Sorry for being quick. Think of you lot often.

Cadmum · 30/08/2010 16:50

I meant to add that dd1 was a horror from 2 1/2 to 7 and now she has been lovely for so long that it is all a fading nightmare.

I haven't had the chance to read other threads or details on this one but I am remembering my mum's advice when I was at wit's end with dd1: It is much better to have a child who is horrible with/to you and lovely with others than the opposite. At least is shows that they do know how to behave appropriately in public and that they know your love is unconditional.

UniS · 30/08/2010 22:08

Lo All. we be back in Devon. Been a long week.
DH is down with an ikky bug, boy is tired and fragile. BUT we did have fun over teh weekend with boys cousins ( DHs mob) . I suck at Wiii ski jump, but quite enjoyed other Wii games.

LL- WE were in the British Museum breifly on Wednesday, but very early afternoon, and we only visited the oriental gallery and Egyptian Mummies.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 31/08/2010 22:16

Uni Hugs for your dh being poorly, that's never nice Sad, glad you had a nice time away though Smile and he saved being ill for being back at home!

'waves' at Caddy, I will send you a link and Uni too next time I'm on FB. Smile
Good sage advice there too I reckon Wink
On another note are you thinking of trying again? or sticking with your lovely 4? we're all here to talk to if you want u know Smile

Astro, your week sounds lovely Smile sausages and punch sounds like my kind of night!

Sooooo here dd2 has got infected Ezcema....so that's the same infection that causes coldsores....nice Hmm on flox-summat-cillin, which she hates, bless,I think she thought it was going to be nice, when we got home with it, she tore open the bag, got the spoon out, opened her mouth, then spat it all out and screamed the place down Hmm I had such hopes that just one of my children would take medicine without doing that Hmm

Astrophe · 01/09/2010 00:01

Oh no Friz! I hope she is better very quickly. Can you hide the medicine in very strong squash or something?

Caddy! Nice to see you! I hope you are settling in, getting itno some good networks of friends, and the DC are all happy.

I really do take my hat off to yuo Caddy, HEing all of them. I am exhausted with just HEing DD1 (who, by the way, is very keen on going to school next year 'to try it'...so thats :( and :) at the same time!)

Exciting re your possible TTC some time in the future - although must also be frightening given your background :(. Maybe we can time them? We are planning on TTC from October eeeek! I'm not really keen for another one yet tbh, but want to time my dreadful morning sickness with our long summer holiday which is Dce/Jan...so thats the plan anyway, may depend on house moving timing.

Uni, do hope your week improves and DH better quickly.

Frizbe · 01/09/2010 21:59

Astro Shock you're going for no 4 Grin I'll keep my fingers very crossed that a) the morning sickness stays away and b) it's just a one (or would you like more?) remembering my grans family, the last child (was supposed to be No 5, turned out to be twins!) Personally it's cats for me from now on! much easier to get medicine into than kids....see my facebook update for my adorable afternoon with dd2 and the NHS Hmm and it might not be over yet, if we somehow can't get her to take the meds/sneak them in.....I'm dredding her being 13 if she's this willful at 4 Hmm

laundrylover · 01/09/2010 23:47

More babies - love 'em as long as they aren't mineGrin. I'm staying in the barren corner with Friz and Uni!!

Uni - hope you DH is better. London sounded better for you than us...think we were too jaded at the end of the hols TBH.

School tomorrow - WAHAY!!!!!Grin

Friz - Tilly used to get infected eczema lots (it's awful eh?)and I would say to go for an antibiotic ointment. Bactroban or Fucidin are great. Fucidin HC has HC in as well and should zap it really quickly. Canesten (or similar) thrush cream works wonders too strangely if you have some in the house. Try it!

Right, must go to bed as have to set the alarm for morning in order to plait hair and make lunches before school and a (very short)runConfused....I do like my holiday lie-ins!

Cadmum · 02/09/2010 16:11

Staying barren, eh?

Hmmm... There is advice that I ought to take.

Astro: I love four. Even numbers work brilliantly... I would TTC starting tomorrow if I could be guaranteed a BABY... With my record the odds aren't great.

Dh just leaned over my shoulder, read my post and pointed out that 5 is not an even number so I guess that I would have to be guaranteed twins in order to start as early as tomorrow. Smile

Friz: I think that our 4 year olds ought to get together at some point and share secrets. They could rule the world. Char is an absolute beast of a child at times and could easily outwit several doctors if medicine was involved. I hope that your dd is not in too much discomfort. Our ds1 has had clear skin for so long that I had nearly forgotten the horrid, bleeding, infected eczema. Your house does look immaculate in the photos so naturally, I hate you now. No amount of trick photography would help at our house. The dcs always mess up twice as fast as I can tidy up.

LL: Hope the first day back goes well for you.

Uni: I am jealous of your London venture. It almost makes me want to go back again. London can be so great when things go well. I certainly miss the great museums and the parks. We used to live looking over Coram's Fields; my children learned how to ride bicycles there...

UniS · 02/09/2010 21:07

WOW cad, having Corum Fields as your local park, sweet. ALmost enough to make me willing to live in London again. But on balance , I think I prefer it here in teh sticks.
Another Village Cider press picnic tomorrow. Guess we need to drink up and empty a few barrels for this years pressing in a month or so.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 02/09/2010 22:34

Awwww UNI! local cider pressing Grin I love stuff like that Grin actually if I think about it someone mentioned to me that they do that here www.scarthinbooks.com/ which if you're ever in these parts is a fabulous place Smile

Caddy, OH NO! please don't hate me, photos were taken over two days by Meri's dh, as there was no way I could keep the whole house tidy in one go/for more than half hour!

LL you are sooo lucky to have school started back, next wed here, darned inset days Hmm dd2 eventually got Fucidin on our 3rd trip to Dr's, what bugs me is that it was the 3rd trip, why the hell didn't they give her that in 1st place? why start with the horrible medicine 1st too? (evil cow female Dr, is why I reckon, you know every practice has a nice one and a horrible one, we got the horrible one)

Cadmum · 03/09/2010 11:57

Uni: We were certainly very spoiled with our geographic location in London. We lived in a square with a private garden with a playground and Coram's Fields was in the next block. We took full advantage. (Twas student accommodation and everyone was from Commonwealth countries and most had small children. It was bliss but I didn't appreciate it nearly enough. I wish we had been able to stay a third year.

I wouldn't know where to begin a discussion about contemplating TTC. Intellectually, I know that it would be a bad idea. There are just too many risks and the odds of success are not in my favour, are they?

Dh was convinced that he was going to lose me after the twin miscarriage but we foolishly persisted and eventually had Char. This last time, I worried that I might not make it and wondered if I should just take the hysterectomy route...

I just wish I could have the broody chip removed. :(

Frizbe · 03/09/2010 23:33

Hugs Caddy, I guess that's a hard one eh Sad You could try the angelina jolie route and adopt some more kids? (if you don't want to be a mad cat woman like myself Wink)

UniS · 04/09/2010 12:04

Friz... thread going on here that might be of interest to you as a woman working in ( owning? ) an RPG business.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 05/09/2010 08:54

Friz I already am a mad-cat woman. I have moved two of them from Austria to Switzerland to Cambodia. That must be the very definition of mad-cat woman, mustn't it?

laundrylover · 05/09/2010 22:06

Yes you are mad cat woman personified CaddyShock.

Uni - my local food group just bought an apple press..we are sticking to juice for the mo but may venture into cider next year...might be asking for top tips!

Friz, is that eczema clearing up?? Hope so. Any viewings on the house yet?

Kiah has got bloody chicken pox off her cousins Sad....so 2 days in school and now she'll be off for a week at least! She has loads of spots and is really washed out...high temp comes and goes. She managed the far today though - we went when it opened partly to keep her away from other kids and partly as Tilly was banned from the fair due to excessive horribleness and so we had to go whilst she was at a party!

At the party I discovered my friend's 1 year old had got the pox from Kiah - friend is meant to start back at work tomorrow. Bad timing or what??

Had a lovely 2 days away at a conference with lots of old colleagues in Nottingham and managed a bike tour of community allotments and a drumming workshop - fabGrin.

Dentists in the morning to fix my broken tooth - let's hope it doesn't need a crown...

Frizbe · 05/09/2010 22:32

LL, your conference sounds interesting! you should have popped by for coffee and seen the excema 1st hand Grin it's virtually clear now, phew.....sorry to hear about the Pox, not what you need at start of term Sad

Uni, I'm going to leave that thread alone I think, far too randomly odd for me to bother commenting on without outing myself to too many people! (might ask one of the lads at GW to pop on and comment though)

Caddy Grin really! you're bonkers!

Astro, how goes it?

laundrylover · 05/09/2010 22:46

I did think of you on the train Friz as I went near your gaff I think.

Conference was so full that I had to make a stance and ask for a taxi option back to the uni halls for an hour's respite and armpit wash before dinner! I wasn't alone as 22 of us escaped the mayor's tour!!

Good news that eczema is clearing - carry on with the Fucidin for about 3 days after though to really nobble it. That's what the consultant told us when she used to see Tilly anyway.

Must go to bed...sitting here working and DP will be fast asleep. He did a 56 mile challenge last night and finished at 4.40am. It took him 16 hours 40mins which is 2.5 hours faster than last year. My Dad finsihed in 12h 33m Shock my friend Paul came 6thShock in 10h 35mShockShock!!!

They're all bonkers IMOGrin.

UniS · 06/09/2010 14:19

56 miles on what??? foot/ bike? well done him any way.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 06/09/2010 21:17

Sounds like foot Shock totally bonkers! well done to them all Grin

Anyone had a 1st day at school today then? our's start on Wed.....

UniS · 06/09/2010 21:23

Jan for us. Boy back to preschool today. Very quiet session, just 10 kids. But boy got stuck in playing "builders" with a new boy, who will also be starting village school in Jan.
Piddling down with rain all day here. I just made it out to the garden before dusk , after rain stopped. Compost bin Black is doing great stuff, steaming and level dropping by the day. Haven't looked at green recently, thats busy cooking too.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 07/09/2010 01:54

Sorry about the pox ll. The timing of these things is rarely ideal but the start of school is really pathetic. My older two had them in nappies which in retrospect is much easier. Ds2 is already 8 and had avoided them despite being exposed several times.

As for 56 mile challenge: WOW! Those timings are amazing. What a fit and healthy lot. (I would find 56 yards challenging in this heat and humidity...)

Friz I don't blame you for leaving the gaming thread alone. I doubt that anyone on there would listen to what you could contribute.
I like the adoption-a-la-Angelina Jolie suggestion. It is such a shame that it is nearly impossible for Canadians to adopt from Cambodia because of child trafficking laws. Too many people 'bought' children who were not orphans and not all of them had good intentions. This country and especially the underprivileged here really needs a break.

I think that I ought to really enjoy the four that we have and accept that it is not in the cards for us to have more.

I have already spent years of my life with morning sickness and recovering from miscarriages including three trips to the O.R. This is all time that could have been spent running around with our existing children...

Uni: Good to hear that boy was already playing with a future classmate and the composting sounds very successful! Is your dh feeling better?

Astro I will live vicariously through you as you TTC. I know what you mean about timing the sickness. Those weeks are rotten.

As for the H-ed, I sometimes think that it is easier with a brood. They all help and inspire each other. I do find that I have to write 'amuse dd2' right into the schedule and one of the older ones is always tasked with this chore unless dd1 is involved in her own work or a family project.

Ds1 is already 13 and I am finding it slightly daunting that he might not be doing enough 'proper' school work in a day... Will you let your dd1 try out school next year?
