Penguin - love your camping pics, it looks great, like the idea of the woodburner!

Just to make you jealous Penguin we have 2 sets of stacking cups, both bought by grandparents, don't know where they got them I'm afraid.

Debs - your poor hubby having to wear the blood pressure thing all day, hope all is well.

Whinegums - that place looks great! We once hired an old hotel out on Loch Ness for a week with a group of friends, it was brilliant.

BDQ - DH is out cutting the grass right now, ours keeps turing into a jungle as well. I was out helping him but I got stung by a wasp on my toe so sitting inside feeling sorry for myself and hoping it doesn't swell up too much.
Had a quick look at Konfidence stuff, the shorts he has have a nappy inside already.
He didn't seem to get too cold the other day (I did!) but will have to try and go more regularly and see how we get on.

DebInAustria · 12/08/2009 20:50

PP - I like the doll, not sure about the flowery nipples though! What I love is the big burp though!

Poppy - does he have good taste in clothes?

BDQ - wow what a post! Thanks for the cot su7pport, maybe you could all sign a petition for me to take into the shop

pureeandpearls · 12/08/2009 20:52

We have several sets- ELC, First Years, M&S Ikeaand unknown origin (bought on eBay) The Ikea ones live in the baby bag. Stacking cups are the favourtite toy of the Supreme Overlord currently.

DebInAustria · 12/08/2009 20:57

Puree - Infinity pro car seat help please - does C sit on the cushion thing at the bottom, with it folded over or not? Ethan only went in his for the first time today and he didn't look quite right!

bitofadramaqueen · 12/08/2009 21:27

Oops, it was a bit long deb! I was actually sat at the computer for a change so making the most of it!

PenguinProject · 12/08/2009 22:06

Allnew - I watched Crash again last night. There is a scene in which a little girl gets shot, I sobbed so much I was gulping for air IYKWIM, so yep, definitely more emotional than I used to be! I want to see my sisters keeper, but can't persuade anyone to come with me.

Essie - We only change sheets weekly here, in fact I'm sure there's been times when it's been longer. So is that I back to hos old routine now? How's the treadmill going?

I was thinking that there must be a shortage of stacking cups and now I see why - you lot have them all! Esp the supreme overlord! I think it's just become an obsession with me right now, anything not to go to Ikea! The funny thing is I've been to really big versions of the stores you've mentioned (M&S Tescos, Argos extra, ELC, Mothercare, Sainsburys...oh sod it, I'm off to Ikea tomorrow!)

BDQ - So of you being able to go to the festival and more than once! [PP prepares to grass] Just spotted Neenz on FB.

KTPie - The campsite was actually a 'survivalist site' where sad men go to learn how to survive off the grid. Facilities included a long drop loo and a watering can for a shower. But the woodburner kept us toasty. The first night we shared the wood with a fairly rotund accountant in his fifties who was learning to be Rambo.

Debs - Hope your hubbies blood pressure turns out to be fine, despite the hassle.

Bugger, battery going...

DebInAustria · 12/08/2009 22:55

PP stacking cups or here

pureeandpearls · 13/08/2009 10:02

Debs- C did sit on the cushion bit folded over but now sits on the cushion bit unfolded, which looks very odd indeed but seems to work just fine....

ktpie · 13/08/2009 10:02

PP - the survivalist thing sounds fun, when I worked on a summer camp in the states they used to take the kids low impact camping where they leave nothing behind, they had to wash up with a little bit of water and DRINK the waste water, sounds horrible! The reasoning was that apart from not leaving anything there were loads of bears about and chucking it on the ground would attract them to the campsite, for the same reason they weren't allowed to take anything with artificial smells, so no deodorant, toothpaste etc. All the food had to be hung in a tree each night well away from the camp. They used to go away for weeks camping like that. Personally I prefer a slightly more civilised version of camping, but at least in this country we only have hedgehogs to contend with!

Morning everyone, after my camping ramblings J has woken up so better go.

pureeandpearls · 13/08/2009 10:12

Advice wanted on where to get a private nuchal scan in London area. Having a mare.

abdnhiker · 13/08/2009 10:41

Essie changing cot sheets once a week sounds pretty organized to me. I have to admit to waiting until I?ve a half load of laundry to change Fraser?s.

deb hope Nigel?s monitor is not too much of a hassle today and that the results are good.

PP I?ve no problem with a breastfeeding doll as DS1 often pretends to breastfeed his teddy bears. I think it?s a great way to de-sexualize breasts. But I didn?t watch the video ? other comments seemed to say that it looked a bit odd.

poppy it?s cute your DH is ordering clothes for E, my DH would dress the boys in rags if they were handy ? but he dresses himself the same way (I have to keep a close eye on what he wears to work) so it?s no surprise.

puree I?m no help but I?m sending hugs.

I have 10 days at work left and am realizing I?d better start writing up what I?ve done so that the next person can continue on. And I?ve my first bit of contract work already, coding a friend?s website. (Although it?s for her landscape design company so instead of being paid in cash I might ask for some very simple design work for our garden). I?m a bit panicked about being out of work, so feeling like I need to find a contract right away which is stupid ? the whole point was I was not going to work. Maybe I should get my sewing machine out instead? (I wish it was possible to make money that way but with the cost of material, I doubt it).

Oh and can I beg for advice? DH and I have an absolutely crap bed and it?s now hurting his back as well as mine so we seriously need to replace it. The problem is that we don?t have the same options up here for shops so might need to buy it online. Can anyone recommend a mattress/mattress company that they love? And we need a new (cheap) wooden bedframe too. I?m getting rid of our horrible divan.

pureeandpearls · 13/08/2009 10:44

We have a Sealy posturepedic mattress and I love it- 5 years old and still as comfy as the day we got it.

abdnhiker · 13/08/2009 10:56

thanks PP - i can probably find one of those locally too...

abdnhiker · 13/08/2009 10:57

sorry P&P

ktpie · 13/08/2009 12:15

Penguin - have you been to Ikea yet? If not have a look for a stacking lighthouse thing, J has one and it is one of his favourites. Will try and find a link.

ktpie · 13/08/2009 12:23

Puree - no idea on the scan I'm afraid.

Abdn - my DH announced on Monday that he doubted his work jeans would make it to the end of the week, they are so full of holes , better take him clothes shopping at the weekend.

We need a new matress as well, ours is giving DH a bad back. Wil check out the Sealy one Puree.

This is the lighthouse. Definitely a favourite here.

Not sure what has come over me, I have an afternoon of baking and cooking lined up. DH picked some blackberries last night (from our garden, BDQ you thought yours was a jungle!) so I'm going to attempt a cake with them, also planning to make some falafels and an experimental potato and pea curry (which may well be a disaster). Will probably run out of energy in approximately 10 minutes and not bother with any of it.

spongebrainmaternitypants · 13/08/2009 12:29

poppy, that's so cute about Edie waving bye!

We tried M&S for stacking caps for R on Monday and no joy - and this M&S was huge!

Hay on Wye is fab - did I ever tell you that was where I spent the evening drinking with Robert Plant?!

BDQ, sorry to hear about the rubbish weather - and our garden is a jungle too!

ktpie huge sympathies on the wasp sting - I was stung by a wasp for the first time ever last year and it was excrutiating .

PP, I went to see My Sister's Keeper a couple of weeks ago and sobbed all the way through it .

puree, have you googled? Can't help cos our private scan place is in Twyford so not much use for you , but I would have thought there would have been tons in London.

Deb, my mum had to have her BP monitored over 24 hrs - total pain and she said she's saw it registered higher cos she was so annoyed by it at the end of the day!

As for the bf doll, no problem with kids pretending to bf with dolls but I think this one is a little OTT in it's anatomical correctness!

We must be psychic Sponge!

AliPalli · 13/08/2009 12:44

Arghh... suffering from buggy lust. My friend has just told me she aspires to a taga, but sadly at £1500 we agreed that it is a bit on the pricey side. Looks cool though.

abdnhiker · 13/08/2009 14:22

ktpie I just made raspberry muffins and falafels are on the schedule for dinner tonight!

I love the look of the taga, especially with the double option, but yes, far out of budget!

DebInAustria · 13/08/2009 14:55

Puree - sorry I can't help out, have you asked elsewhere on MN? (((hugs)))

Ali - weird looking buggy/bike, now if it had skiis that could be attached as well it would be great!

Nigel has his monitor thing on, it takes it every 15 minutes and sometimes it really hurts as it inflates according to the last reading, very sympathetically I suggested it was like having contractions! I'm really not a great nurse. I just hope the readings are OK as 42 is young to have to start medication isn't it? Ethan has tried to pull the wires, boys are out but when they return Stefan will be concerned for his Dad, Tristan will be intrigued by how it works!

spongebrainmaternitypants · 13/08/2009 15:23

Deb, my mum started taking BP medication when she was in her late 30s - three pregnancies in 3 years, with the last being a twin pg, sent her BP through the roof . She's been on it ever since and is now 68.

Love the taga, have seen it before in The Guardian, want one!

OP posts:
Essie3 · 13/08/2009 16:43

Hi there, a quick one as need to go to get Iestyn!

Wasps - put vinegar on the sting.

Ali I also have random buggy lust - I want a bugaboo, but seeing as I only have one baby and I'm not expecting another any time soon (are you trying to tell us something? ) but I also lust after Quinny Buzz ones. Stupid really. My pram whilst brilliant is not trendy, you see. Actually, you have the same one as us!!

Oops, MUST go! Sorry that was shite!

poppy34 · 13/08/2009 18:14

Ah- big vote for ikea mattess and beds here.

Ktpie- are you nesting?!

Deb- sympathy for Nigel and you having to put up with it. Nick on blood pressure watch here so lots of frantic walking(not allowed in gym cos Bp too high), diet and even trip to acupuncture . He is meant to be monitoring too but won't do it! But glad to hear about your mum sponge- think my grandma was also on them for years.

Ali/Essie- thank god it's not just me. I have had a hankering for a bugaboo bee ever since I saw one and despite my rants re overpriced baby kit.

Bad period pain here- as if another month with no good news wasn't enough!
