FiKelly · 20/08/2009 21:21

jael my friends dd that took two bottles ( before weaning ) could drink 14oz in one sitting!! we made jokes she had hollow legs

FiKelly · 20/08/2009 21:28

spangle glad h's hips are ok.. I agree hospital departments can be a real pita to find. i've not read GF potty training.. would it be worth reading?

Febes · 20/08/2009 21:41

Pula and other P & T users. When do you change to 2 seats? DS is pretty big and I haven't been putting him in the coccon for a while now. Just wondering when I should change him from horizontal. I know they say 6 months but did you wait that long??

daizydoo · 20/08/2009 21:52

Febes, I have been thinking the same thing. The lady I bought my p&t's from said she moved the seats before 6 months.

I have had both ds's asleep in bed from about 6.30pm! Both have woken up but what a bonus! I'm afraid I'm alot lazier than Fi and have only managed to do some bits and pieces of paperwork. Dh has managed to lose his mum's address AGAIN!

I'm very of those of you with self dressing, potty using children! DS1 is 2 1/2 and refuses to use the potty and hates having his nappy changed. He also is completely clueless about dressing himself - he tries to put his t-shirt sleeve over his head - bless!!

muddleddaizy · 20/08/2009 22:04

Just to let you know I'm daizydoo. Decided it was time for a name change and this name is more apt!!

FiKelly · 20/08/2009 22:16

muddled like the name change.. I can never think of anything interesting to change mine too. i too am of the dressing and potty trained. oh to have only one dc in nappies

pulapula · 20/08/2009 22:27

Febes- I'm still using the cocoon- I like the fact I can see DS2 (and easily stick his dummy in) which I guess will be harder when he is in the seat. Not sure when I will change over.

The thing that makes us want to potty train DS1 (who is 2.2) is his dirty nappies- they are disgusting! With DD we started sitting her on the potty at 10mo and she started doing poos on it really quickly and within a few weeks she would wait until she was on the potty to do one, so from 10mo onwards we never had to deal with pooey nappies. However it took a lot longer to get bladder control (and to have the language skills to tell us when she needed to go) and she still has the odd accident now, when she is too busy to go and leaves it to the last minute (but then I do that too ).

Momino · 20/08/2009 22:57

Pula, amazed at your DD at 10 mo. our dd1 was an embarrassing 3 years before we potty trained and dd2 is now nearly 2. dd2 is sitting well on the toilet but she needs to do a wee or poo before i feel comfortable to get stuck in on potty training. .

febes, a lot of P&T users put babies in the toddler seat before 6 mos. with DD2, we crammed her in the pod for as long as we could as i loved the way she lay flat. with Harper, she still has a bit of room but we'll prob moved her at 5 mos.

spangle, glad H's hips are ok. when Harper had hers done, she had a student then the consultant as well and was screaming by the end of it. annoying.

muddled, DC's in bed by 6.30! well done. i didn't have ours in bed until 8pm. then dd2 had a meltdown so was a further half hour.

wonder if i'll be lucky and Harper will sleep tonight? can't remember the last time she's slept through. oh, i used to be so proud of her...

just catching up...
reggiee, CP incubation is 2 weeks. Still haven't seen anything on H and hoping it skips her.

llareggub, hope things calmed down after the eventful trip to the baby clinic.

actually, getting tired now.
sorry for not name checking everyone.

Momino · 21/08/2009 07:44

morning.
hoorah! Harper slept through 8pm- 4.30am today. hope it wasn't a one-off.

dd1&2 going to inlaws tomorrow for the weekend. I'm going to miss them but really looking forward to the break. it's so much easier to look after just one little baby (just?).

BTW, we never did get out yesteerday even to get the nappies. by the time I got everyone ready, it started to rain and couldn't be bothered. I'm hoping to get out this morning to the part but DD's still sleeping (they'd been up in the night, both of them) so not sure. Harper is kicking, bright-eyed by my side.

anyone know about birthmark called strawberry mark? H has one on her back. they don't go away, do they? HV here next week, will ask her.

also. just reminiscing: i wonder how everyone who used to post are doing? I realise I just don't have a life so here I am but am so happy to have known everyone who's posted here from one year ago. I hope everyone from regular posters to those who read to those who've left are all ok.

gosh time flies.
Hope you're all well and have a good day.

momino 8-4.30 that's great!

M slept 7.30-5am think I knackered her out at baby sensory

tummum am quite excited about camper van
I've never really enjoyed camping as an adult (too many horrible hols when a child) but camper van isn't exactly roughing it is it. Looking forward to kitting it out if we get it, have even showed DH cow print seat covers and he didn't say no - yay!
Mind you think he'll agree to anything as long as I agree to buy it

LoobyLou36 · 21/08/2009 09:00

tummum what age was your dd when she went in the pop up travel cot? Are the pop up ones smaller than usual travel cots?

belgian good luck with your packing

muddled love the new name!

Jael · 21/08/2009 09:19

Thanks everyone, DS is 16 weeks. I think I'm going to end up weaning him early though, I can't remember exactly when we started with DD, but she was before the "reccomended" age too. I'll try 7oz's then, I don't really want to start weaning, I want to keep him baby forever if I can DD grew up too fast...

Potty training I had a VERY lucky one, DD was in knickers at 15 months and out of nappies at bedtime at 18 months. She could dress herself completely at 2. Think I'm going to have trouble all round if I'm honest...she missed out on starting nursery last year, so she's starting nursery this year, aged 3years 7months, along with a couple of her little friends who would have just turned three, and are still in nappies, that not being the issue, my issue is, I've known she's forward, she can write her name, she counts to 100, she can write the alphabet, the numbers 1-10, and yet she's going to be in a class with children, where the majority probably won't be able too, I don't want her to get held back, I want her to learn more, more than I can do at home, if you get me, not go over things I've been going for the past 1year+ with her.

llareggub · 21/08/2009 09:38

Jael she sounds lovely!

Momimo DS2 has a little mark above his lip. We don't know what it is but some days it seems to fade and other days it seems really red. I've shown it to the GP and the HV and the weren't concerned about it.

Have a lovely day everyone.

FiKelly · 21/08/2009 09:59

jael wow you must be so proud of your dd but i can see your dilemma about pre school although I'm sure they'll continue where you've left off iyswim not back at the beginning..

momino ds has a strawberry mark on his head.. some do go but some stay. he still has his but it's mostly hidden by his hair. yay on harper sleeping so long too

looby exciting about the van! holidays whenever and where ever you want

i wonder too about our previous posters.

Jael · 21/08/2009 10:32

I am very proud of her, we both are. And DS is possibly going to be our last child, after all the trouble I've had this time, so that's why I don't want to rush the weaning. Or anything really, I want him to stay little lol But DD did everything at her own pace, she was ready to be potty-trained, we had her in those pull up princess nappies, where the stars fade when they've weed, and she's go allday without going, she really liked the stars, we bought her a potty, she could speak really well and could tell us when she needed to go, so we took her out of the nappies and put her in knickers. She was so proud of her little knickers, we had our fair share of accidents, just like all parents do.
I've worked in several schools/nurseries so I'm well aware of children's stages of developments, all children are different. I'm just struggling at the moment at home to do what she needs, I don't have equipment etc and most important of all, I don't have other children, which is what she really needs.

Belgianchocolates · 21/08/2009 10:32

Morning everyone.

Had a rubbish night's sleep thanks to DH who was tossing and turning. C also woke for a feed at 6, whic is early for her.

I think C has a stork mark on her head too, but it's also hidden by her hair.

looby the pop up travel cot is supposedly suitable up to 6m. DD1 went in it on a holiday at 4.5m and fitted nicely.

llare How's the black eye? You're right. That sort of thing always happens just as you're about to see the HV/GP.

momi I was wondering about some of the old posters too. Especially Frazzled. I presume they're all too busy to come on here. Like you I haven't got a RL, so spend my days on here

It was so sad to look out of the window this morning and see an empty space where the eglu used to be.

Anyway. Off to pack some eBay stuff up before going out to B&Q and then school shoe shopping as today it's the last day to do it before the move.

runningmonkey · 21/08/2009 10:48

Hi All,

Back from Norfolk with a suntan! Had a lovely time even tho I did miss out a little on the evening drinking/talking as I was in bed with A by 8.45 most evenings. She slept for 5 hours one night tho Can totally recommend the place we stayed - Clippesby Hall Campsite, great facilities and lots of things to do nearby.

Have read the last few pages, too much to namecheck so invoking the amnesty if thats ok. Sorry to hear there was some hassle from a random poster, it does make you think about who is reading tho.

Just wanted to say that I hope your Dad is ok Fi, glad dd's are recovering Momi Loobs yay on the campervan, can recommend campsites and if you have a T25 there is a great online forum called club 80-90 for owners of T25s where you can get great advice and resources. You might even find a curtain pattern there.

Right must attack the mountain of washing we brought back with us. Will check in later x x

FiKelly · 21/08/2009 10:48

just made a mad dash to the cinema for kids showing.. only film left to see is hannah montana.. £3 total for us all to get in and ds gets a drink, bag of popcorn and bag of sweets. not sure what he's going to think of it hopefully he'll not get bored..

Jael · 21/08/2009 12:21

Talking about cinemas if anyones interested, I signed up to Woolworths VIP club a few weeks ago, it's free to do. And you can get into cineworld cinemas free for the 10am screenings of childrens films at tons of cinema's all across the country on saturdays and Sundays. As long as you bring at least one child with you. Were planning on going tomorrow with DD. It will be her first trip to the cinema, she doesn't know yet, so it wil be a surprise. I'm no good at posting links, but type woolworths into google lol it's well worth doing I think. A couple of people I know who have signed up to it too, have had pick a mix sent thorogh their door too lol

Tummum · 21/08/2009 12:54

Looby, we used one like this for DD2 until she was around 2. Folds really small too.

pulapula · 21/08/2009 13:08

Afternoon ladies,

I am very proud of myself for surviving 2 hours of soft play with 2 toddlers and a 3mo . I took them out as we've hired a carpet cleaner so DH wanted to make a start and get ready for our new bed being delivered later today. Poor S only slept 10 mins on the way there, and 10 mins in there when he got really tired and fell asleep on my shoulder. But he is just sat in his chair chillin now not bawling, which is surprising (maybe he'll have a meltdown later ). Poor DS1 though- followed his big sister to the top and down the fastest bumpiest hardest slide i've ever seen in a soft play centre. He bumped his head on each bump and screamed all the way down and took a while to stop crying after .

Momino- glad H slept better last night.

Momino · 21/08/2009 14:28

Fi/Jael, cinema club's a great idea. like the pick nmix through the door .

pula, well done at the soft play with 3! you must be excited about the new bed as well.

running, glad you had a good hol, the place you stayed sounds lovely.

Belgian, how do you find time to do everything? your posts sound so busy! in fact, all of you seem to do so much, jael, didn't you do cleaning today? i actually made cheese scones today but made a huge floury mess with the girls that's not yet cleaned up. i had to do an internet shop for dd2's 2nd bday gift, eat and now i've got a baby who's feeding, crying, chewing on my hand but won't be put down. kitchen is a tip!

when do you guys clean? pula and others with cleaners don't you dare reply .

OP posts:
pulapula · 21/08/2009 14:53

< pulapula logs onto MN and sniggers to herself as she remembers taking DD and DS2 out for lunch on Weds whilst 2 lovely ladies cleaned her house from top to bottom, snort >

Jael · 21/08/2009 16:15

I would like a cleaner, but then I wouldn't at the same time lol our house isn't very big, and I'm so particular, I have to have things done my way, so I don't think a cleaner would do, unless I could be there and watch her every move and tell her what to do...I don't think it would do. I've had OCD queeried a few times in the past because some of my habits are just over the top, especially cleaning wise...I can tell I'm on the mend though now, It's killed me not being able to clean my house for all these weeks! DP has really tried he has but it just hasn't been the same...When DP lived at home with his parents, they used to have a cleaner, and he used to have to clean the house for his mother before the cleaner arrived lol that always makes me giggle XX
