sambo303 · 15/07/2009 09:32

morning ladies, thanks for the toast and jam dizzy. If you dont mind I'll have a liberal spreading of butter before the jam

hoping no1 hotpot and miamla plus LOs are feeling better today

miamla thank you for your kind words

ds has woken with a rash -all over his chin and torso. I think its a heat rash, looks horrible. I dont fancy sitting in the doctors waiting room in case we catch anything though. Is it ok to take him swimming??

pert and dizzy I share your anxiety about returning to work. All the work life balance talk is twaddle.I've been thinking over my meeting to discuss 4 day week and I feel really dissatisfied with how it went, my new boss said well you have these huge projects to do, how are you going to do that in 4 days? Not really a discussion at all, and he rushed me out in 20 mins. I feel quite cross about it. I dont think he's a very good manager of people, like most accountants . Hopefully it wont be as bad in reality as it seems now. dizzy poor you having to deal with someone horrible at work. I tend to avoid all women at work who are in their 50s as they are mostly mad I assume from menopause hormones ??

dizzydixies · 15/07/2009 09:59

Sambo, I'm not sure she's in her 50s but when she's annoying me I shall certainly ask her lol

could you put your concerns down on paper and ask him to address them that way so its not rushed?

I have the strange situation of working shifts which is crap but for the sake of childcare I have to do it, DH and I will work opposite each other where possible and manage the girls that way (with the help of a CM 2 days a week for DD2 and Dylan to let us sleep off nights or catch out breath) I have the option of refusing to do nights whilst I'm still feeding Dylan but am not sure if now would be a reasonable time to stop?

VG the cafe shift is fantastic isn't it now if I could just get things to get a shift on that would be brilliant!!

AnnVan · 15/07/2009 10:00

Morning everyone.
didn't have a great night here but oh well. We survive

sambo I totally agree about 'work-life balance' it's just a hot phrase that these companies use. It doesn't actually mean a thing.

steaky hope your night was ok!

dizzydixies · 15/07/2009 10:02

Sambo - also please remember by law you are allowed to apply once a year for child friendly hours, you don't have to justify the adjustments you've asked for but they have to give an explination if they refuse

morning Ann - keep meaning to tell you there is a bloke in the village here with a surname similar to you own (a photographer) and I always think of you when I see it

sambo303 · 15/07/2009 10:05

lol dizz maybe ask her if she's having an early menopause if she denies being in her 50s?

your childcare sounds daunting, how will you and dh see each other? you dont want to be ships that pass, buckets doesnt approve

morning ann how is seb's bottie?

alittlebitshy · 15/07/2009 10:07

Morning all. Our internet was down yesterday, and man i was bored when ds was asleep .

Following on from your theatrical antics I want to share something that will make you all laugh. It was dd's prizegiving last night. The headmistress, a v switched on, eloquent lady, was giving her speech and came to mention a production the older children had put on this year. "shakespeare's Oliver Twist". Dh and i were sniggering to ourselvs and dh was muttering about it being one of shakespeare's lesser known works. lol lol.

Yes my ds is the first to hit one. a week on Friday .

Sorry about all the poorly, babies, mums and bums. I have a bit of a sore throat and am hoping it stays at that level. At prizegiving there were so many children missing - several children who had got awards were not there and the head was saying she has never known a prizegiving with so mnay people absent

steaky thinking about you lots.

cavey aw at ds1's sports day.

kay let me see if i have missed anythign else i ought to comment on...

Miamla · 15/07/2009 10:08

morning all, only one wake up but took half hour to settle. I realised as i was giong to bed that i lied to you about the previous night..i accidentally woke him when i when to bed so he didn't sleep all night. i apologise for lying to you all! will you ever forgive me?

dizz wouldn't you rather not work nights for a little while?

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 15/07/2009 10:12

miamla would prefer never to work nights ever again but unfortunately I don't get to decide what the alternative is so it might not suit depending what DH is on

I think I can safely say obo the thread that you're forgiven, just don't let it happen again

you're soundind a bit more chipper today which is nice too

morning ALBS

oopsacoconut · 15/07/2009 10:22

Who ordered the stinky green poo?? I think I have managed to get your order buy mistake! DD woke at 5.30 this morning, I misread the clock and thought it was 6.30 so brought her in with us only to look closer and discover it was 5.30! She didn't go back down and was wriggling too muc so down stairs she went and 45 minutes ater the was exploding poo everywhere. So I changed her and there were 2 more such explosions then we she went back to sleep until 9.30. I can only assume it is due to one of the many delicious things she has picked up off the floor or in the garden!

Ello Dizzy, ALBS, Miamla, Sambo, Ann, VG

Going to see what went on here least night after I left you all covered in greasepaint!

oopsacoconut · 15/07/2009 10:25

DD just saw DH on skype as we passed like ship this morning and is now sobbing and pointing at the computer saying Papa, Papa

dizzydixies · 15/07/2009 10:25

oh poor Poppy, I can only imagine she feels MUCH better after getting rid of that though

LoveBuckets · 15/07/2009 10:27

BLLCKS!!! The caravan we were staying in in Tenby has fallen apart. Anyone know someone with a caravan or chalet to let 17-21st Aug? Not more than an afternoon's drive from Bristol?

dizzydixies · 15/07/2009 10:29

hotterpotter · 15/07/2009 10:29

VG agree completely - Dylan has developed a shrieking high pitched sound which shows her frustration very effectively

we use the sounds tat tat when trying to discourage activity, its normally met with a resounding

oopsacoconut · 15/07/2009 10:54

VG - we were talking about this last night as DH has noticed that DD squeals alot more these days when she doesn't get what she wants or when she wants something and we can't figure out what she is pointing at. The onlytime I use no and very loudly is when is is under the sitting room table with all the computer leads and when she tries to climb up the oven front then she gets a 'NO, not the cables/HOT don't touch the oven. I try and use other phrases - when she pulls hair I say ' ow that hurts Mama don't pull hair. She then burst into tears and looks at me like I beat her!

cyteen · 15/07/2009 11:09

Yes, DS is definitely entering the time of testing my patience his boundaries. He's getting very good at the crocodile tears, i.e. when you lie him down to change his nappy he'll thrash around and wail with an accusatory look on his face, yet miraculously stops, dry-eyed, the minute you're done. Ditto mealtimes: he's going through a serious food-over-side-of-highchair phase, punctuated with bursts of heartbreak yells which will suddenly stop if presented with a favoured food.

'No' has so far mainly been reserved for speaker dismantling or fireplace investigations; obviously the only effect has been to make him laugh Unfortunately I find it hard to contain my laughter too, he is just so damn cute and cheeky

hotter really wishing you all the Get Well Soon vibes there are.

AnnVan · 15/07/2009 11:21

sambo Seb's bottie is clearing up (nappy rash wise) We haven't had any of the weird snotty poos yet today though, so he is wandering around the house with no nappy on.

I definitely use NO a lot. Not that this really seems to be working. Unfortunately he's discovered two more things today that I really hoped he would leave alone. One is plug points and the other is the stairs. i found him climbing up them just now. .
Really need to send cv and write cover email. I really HATE doing cover letters. I never know what to say.
