Hello all, just a quick one as packing must commence

veggie about your photos and memories, how lovely to have those pics for your friend's family. And lovely to have been reminded about all your travels. Sorry about your nan but again, lovely to have those memories. My dad showed me a few letters my mum had sent to one of her friends overseas when I was little, lovely to see what she thought about being a mum. The same kind of bittersweet sadness but happy at the same time, if you see what I mean. Not very eloquent there.

lady the delivery arrived yesterday, thank you so much chocs are were yummy at getting through them all so fast. Hope you have a fantastic time, CUBC and Goldie have entered several events but there's no crew from my college this time. Excellent work on the pub quiz! And am definitely going to adopt hucking as new word. Much better than fecking!

kayz sorry you're so knackered, but glad the GP is taking you a bit more seriously. Maybe it's anaemia, are you getting enough iron?

re the nursery/work situation - DH's half day can't be moved, the rota is such that the docs are all spread evenly across the week so he'd have to swap with someone and that's pretty unlikely... Phoned the nursery that we'd been pinning our hopes on (the one with 24 babies in the baby room, when I visited they said it should be likely to get a part time place) - the reason they've got no vacancies is because 22 babies with siblings already there have been born this year. So that's basically filled up all their spaces! Tough if you're a first time parent...

Right. Much folding of tshirts and finding of travel docs to be done! DD's passport arrived 2 weeks ago and poor lamb, the pic is truly dreadful!

SummerLightning · 25/06/2009 22:16

Hello quick post from me, I am on holiday in the Lake District for a week from tomorrow so will be quiet! May lurk from phone though.

Hello to spiggy and yikes at your speedy birth!

arti I am very pleased to hear mrs sleep has done the trick.

Ladyt congrats on the hucking quiz, and hooray for your friend! Oh and the sleeping through thing, I suspect their are a few other lurking sleep through mummies on here. E slept through for about 2 weeks and I tried not too mention it too much...then he stopped.
Maybe we should have an amnesty on admitting to magical sleeping babies.....promise not to be jealous!

verso sure the health check thing is just a check, but sounds like a faff and a worry.

turnip nice to see you back! for sleepy babies though (oh I said I wouldn't do that, didn't i?)

kayz sorry you are feeling knackered. Good that the docs gave you a blood test, but hope it sorts of it's own accord.

spot to T's stiffy!! DS hasn't even discovered his willy yet, let alone had a hard-on! I did giggle at veggie saying "Wait until he gets his hands on it!"

Right, I am going to go and pack now...oh how I hate packing.

SummerLightning · 25/06/2009 22:56

Also NJAN forgot to say seeing as me and jj are away on travels, I am guessing Cambridge meet up will be out...I am def up for it when I get back though, will only be gone a week.

Oh I have just spotted an errant apostrophe in my above post

Oh yeah and stats, little E is the exception to the rule, he is a little titchy boy, was 6lbs 10oz at birth and 2 weeks before 6 months he was 16lb, so prob about 16.5 now I guess.

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 07:31

Morning,

Terrible news about Michael Jackson. I really love his music so quite a sad day for me.

Veggie D sleeps through all night. He has done for the past 3/4 months. I am actually hoping it is something wrong with me. If not then I will probably feel like this until my kids have moved out

I am meant to be taking DS1 to this playgroup thing with my neighbour but DS2 had us up all night He refused bottles, we changed his nappy about 4 times, tried to make him burp and in the end rubbed teething gel on and put in our bed. But both DH and me got 2 hours sleep last night.

Hope you are all well.

notjustanumber · 26/06/2009 07:43

God Kayz you must be knackered, hope you get some rest

I dont mind hearing about sleeping babies at all ! They all will at some point....

BTW, birth stats, DS2 was 8.11 and is now 17.2 as of yesterday...

Indith · 26/06/2009 08:42

Oh dear Kayz, nights like that exist to try us.

Dd has been kicked out and wedged in amongst the junk in the spare room. We will get sleep eventually! She woke up a fair few times then slept 2 til 5 which is a long stretch for her. I wish I could find a way of pointing out to her that 5am is not morning but she has considered it morning from birth. Ds on the other hand slept until 8.15!

Boys and willies are so much fun, used to amuse me greatly when ds would stretch his to twice its length and make dh wince

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 09:18

My lovely neighbour has taken DS1 to playgroup!!! YAY!!!! Peace and quiet!!

Veggiemummy · 26/06/2009 10:00

Kayz seriously our boys are little twin souls, DS2 was up all night (slight exaggeration but a lot anyway) he was crying and hot he had a temp at one stage of 38.6c. I think he must have a teeth on the way. This morning he is fine not unwell at all so must be teeth. We are going camping tonight for 2 nights and where going to cancel but he seems fine now.

JB that is sweet of you but actually DH is home at the moment so have him around.

Lady I forgot to say not sure where might be off to with DH next, DS1 will be onholidays soon so if DH is going anywhere exotic, like Cardiff we will probably join him I think. We are going to somewhere in Dorset for the Camp Bestival festival in July and then to Holland in August for a cycling holiday with the boys so those should be nice. Still thinking about Calcot Manor at some stage too. Might pick your brains about that soon Arti.

Veggiemummy · 26/06/2009 10:13

Oops sorry a tooth not a teeth.

Sad about MJ I was a big fan as a teenager, I went to see his Bad concert at the Parramatta stadium when I was 14. I probably stopped being a fan around the time his nose got really pointy. But was at one stage a die hard fan, cried at his concert had every possibly piece of memorabilia video book everything. I'm also a huge Pulp fan and I'm a little disappointed that the little moment that Michael & Jarvis shared the stage isn't being remembered in all the Michael Jackson life recaps.

Right I have some packing to do, hoping our tent hasn't been too effected by the water downstairs. Also one of DS1's little girlfriends is coming over this afternoon so need to tidy his room up. Oh gosh and buy some bread and jam (she a jam sandwich girl) for lunch.

lal07 · 26/06/2009 10:20

Kayz hope you manage to get some rest.

Now LadyT has stepped up I also have to confess that I too have a sleeping DD. But is naff all to do with what I've done or haven't done. Almost exactly the same with DS and he didn't sleep through for months.

Am going on a hen weekend tonight. And really not looking forward to it. I'm very fond of the hen but everyone apart from me is a city lawyer and collectively it can get a bit much. I'm also going to miss the beans and DH. Am quite pathetic. Is only for 2 nights, and not as if we're going anywhere far away but am not terribly enthusiastic. Must buck up - apart from anything else there's the potential for 2 nights sleep.

spiggy at your birth story. amazing.

Congratulations on the quiz ladyt and arti I hope last night also went well.

Have lovely weekends - I think sneaking off to mumsnet would not go down well so will catch up on Sunday. Must get an iphone

Turniphead1 · 26/06/2009 10:55

Veggie if you go onto bbc online the life and times of MJ mentioned the bit where Jarvis and Michael shared a stage and they just played Earth Song on radio two which made me think of it too.

Turniphead1 · 26/06/2009 10:55

lal enjoy the hen weekend. I had two nights away last weekend and it was bliss (although I missed my babies dreadfully - I managed!)

zoejeanne · 26/06/2009 13:15

Does this make our thread come back??

spiggy · 26/06/2009 14:40

Ooooh 2 nights away I'm sure that once you are actually away you will get into the swing of things quite easily. My friend is over from Oz in a couple of weeks and I am so excited about having a proper night out. Unfortunately I'll still have to deal with the little horrors cherubs in the morning so I can't get too carried away.

DD's birth was a bit of a shock- DS took 3 loooooong days and eventually had to be dragged out with a ventouse so I was expecting something similar. Never trust a mw who says that you can't be in labour until contractions are 2-3 mins apart- Mine were 10-15 so I thought I had ages to go.

Apologies for any typos- I'm hooked up to my milking machine to try and build a store of milk for DD while I'm at work and it isn't easy balancing laptop and double breastpump on my knee. At least with DS at nursery I stand a chance of actually getting some to freeze. I had managed to get 6oz the other day and was feeling very pleased with myself. Unfortunately I left it on the side while I explained to DD the power cable for the laptop did not make a suitable teether. When I got back to the kitchen I'd found DS had climbed up, got the milk and was drinking it Then the cheeky sod announced that it was too cold and he wanted it in the microwave. No idea why he decided to help himself he's been weaned for about 10 months. Ah well, at least it will give him an immune boost

Indith · 26/06/2009 14:53

Ds loves breast milk too, he will drink anything I express. He used to get into the other side when I was vfeeding dd and hold his cup to my breast

spiggy · 26/06/2009 15:05

Indith, I love that image! The boy obviously prefers draught milk. DS tried to latch a few times when DD was newborn but just got a fit of the giggles and ran away. He is facinated by the breast pump although his father has taught him to go "mooooooo" when I'm hooked up to it

jumpjockey · 26/06/2009 15:37

hello all, today has been a pretty pants day - dd slept until 1.30, had a feed then back to sleep I however was up every hour vomming no idea why but today's attempt at finishing up the packing for when dad comes to take us away tomorrow has been a bit of a failure... just managed to keep down some dry toast and lucozade (ah the high life!) so dd will get a bit of playing rather thsn just being left to her own devices on the mat while I groan on the sofa

Will be back in 2 weeks, could someone keep a running summary of all the important stuff for me (crawling, chatting, new teeth etc!) have a lovely time all and big hugs to all our fabby december babes

SummerLightning · 26/06/2009 15:47

Have fun jj hope the vomming is just a 24 hr thing.
I am off in 15 mins hopefully!! Yay holiday!

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 16:21

Having a Michael Jackson filled afternoon. My best friend rang earlier and we both cried for about 10 minutes. We loved him so much growing up and we tried to get tickets but we were unlucky. I keep bursting into tears.

I completely forgot DS2 could crawl earlier and went upstairs to find him trying to follow me!!

Kayzr · 26/06/2009 16:38

Bloody hell. The boys are both asleep and DS2 just did a strange snore/grunt and I fell off the computer chair!!

daisydora · 26/06/2009 18:27

Just a quickie, as I'm off to Devon in the morning. Looks like there have been some bad nights for people - boo. DS still very hit and miss. BUt I did manage to get some rest in the Lakes as mum and Dad took the DC's off for a long walk yesterday leaving me and DH a whole afternoon snoozing in the sun - bliss!

I am gutted about Michael Jackson I was a huge huge fan. I have seen him twice in concert and was one of those hysterical people crying everywhere. Such a sad loss, and awful for his children and family.

Also got home today to a letter from work saying my role is under th threat of redundancy, I should find out at the end of July. I wouldn't have been so worried but I have been given details of my finish date, redundancy package and I am suppossed to have met with my line manager for a one-to-one consultation. I haven't and some forms about how viable it is to keep me on have to be in by Tuesday, and as I'm away this is not going to happen. I tried calling work but all I got was answerphones. So I have e-mailed my manager and asked her to call me next week - i'll keep you posted.

JollyBear · 26/06/2009 20:12

Hello everyone,

Blimey daisy that's dreadful, what a way to find out. Hope you get to speak to someone in person soon.

It is indeed v sad about MJ. DH and I watched the end of Question Time and there was a news flash. Haven't seen one of those in a while.

veggie I love Plup! We went to a fantastic concert a few years (oh my 8 years , where does the time go?!), deep in a forest in Yorkshire. It was run by the forestry commission. Lots of fun .

Poor you JJ. At least you got it over with before the holiday I suppose. Have a lovely time, you too SL.

Oh and bisou I meant to say that apparently my nanna did that potty poo thing with my mum from when she was 6 weeks old. I have no idea when DD is going to explode, I wish I did!

I'll have to go my fingers are not cooperating with my brain at all. I think the teething fairy has returned here. It is madness seen as she has 7 already. Have lovely weekends all.

traceface · 26/06/2009 20:18

hello all
Breaking news in the TracePlace...Phoebe had a good night last night - I mean really good. She went to bed at 7pm, woke at 9.15pm and dh tried to settle her but she was having none of it and cried for ages, so at 10.15pm I fed her and she went back to sleep until......7am I got up 3 times to check she was still breathing! How very odd to go from 4 feeds a night to a 8.5hour stretch?! I'm trying to tell myself it was a one-off so I'm not disappointed tonight, but deep down I'm hoping for a repeat!
Don't be embarrassed of telling us about your sleepy babies...it's fab to hear because it gives us hope
Anyway we have Chinese Takeaway on its way - so I guess it's more Receive than Takeaway - so I'm off to put some plates in to warm...

pmk1 · 26/06/2009 20:56

Hi all, I'm so far behind i'm not going to attempt to read again! I'm shattered..... Going to summarize which will be a nice change to my waffling...

Hi Spiggy! Hi Lal, hi Turnip!

Veg - not really a race as sunch apparently - but it's a ride on Dartmoor. I got a quick lesson at 6 am in the rain this morning on how to put the bike on the car as I'm collecting dh on the way through and off to to the West country tomorrow night have to scramble for a hotel now...! He's leaving Spain tomorrow night, going straight to Devon when landing and then doing the 100 miles at 8am

Well done on the pub quiz Lady - one of these days we'll get to ours!

Who was it talking about the tongue tie? What was the end result? Was is Spot? I've been paranoid about ds ever since and keep trying to pull his tongue out to look. I was worried as he often pushes his food out still (if it's not sweet) but I suspect he's just taking it slow? Veggie? He also isn't too advanced at holding any bits of food - not interested, but he's advanced at other things like trying to stand etc so not too worried and keeping his milk intake up. He has no problem blowing rasberries though - infact just noticed his mirror on his bouncer toy is covered in yoghurt/milk!

I had loads more, but I can't remember and Big Brother is about to start plus I did glaze over at some posts a while back touching on older kiddies and BF-ing interest sorry - got horrible flashbacks to that TV show ages ago showing the 5 yo putting himself on his mothers breast - sorry i'm off to vomit

Oh yes - de-dumification a roaring success - i'm pleased, really pleased - another sleep through night
MJ rip

spotofcheerfulness · 26/06/2009 21:00

That's fabulous, Trace, am really pleased for you. You deserve some good nights. Fingers crossed she repeats the performance!

Think the teething fairy is here too, JB, I can't believe your DD has 7 already! T has none as yet but has been whining and grizzling all day (and just woke up and wouldn't settle without dummy, which is v unusual) so am either blaming teeth or humid weather.

Lovely to see Turnip today and her beautiful DD.

Daisy that's awful about your job situation, that's really unprofessional behaviour. I hope you get some clarity next week.

Veggie you always sound so upbeat when your DCs have off days, I wish I could be like that. When T is crying for no reason and refusing to sleep and generally unhappy I do think "poor thing" but also get really irritated. I feel like such a meanie, it's not as if he's deliberately depriving me of sleep and I don't expect to have a happy smiley baby all the time. I guess I just want to know what's wrong and with lots of low level grizzling it's hard to tell!

Hope everyone off on hols has a lovely time and hope the vomming was just a one off JJ.

Fingers crossed for a sleep-filled night for all.

Toodle pip.
Spot xxxxx

P.S Me n Pingu going to London Zoo on Mon (crazy weather permitting). Anyone fancy joining us? Am a bit worried about the weather actually, apparently we're predicted 32 degrees in London next week .
