Blimey - that's a fantastic and fast turnaround re dairy and soya! And she's not unhappy having them?

Cut all the excuses about not needing to drive since uni MM. What was wrong with learning before you even went there?! I turned 17 in August and passed my test in the same December!

Honeymoonmummy · 14/06/2009 22:16

I've been taking fibogel and movelat throughout, just movelat more recently, but I try not to take them all the time.

Acupuncturist has me off dairy and soya to help me as well as Poppy

Have just started a shiny new thread so we'll see. Night all.

hedgepig · 14/06/2009 22:19

well done MM although check the mini out with a test drive before you get one (once you have your licence). A friend of mine had one and found the ride very hard so it was quite tiring to drive, they do look brill though. I passed my test at 18 but didn't drive again until I needed to at 28 I had to have refresher lessons because I couldn't rember anything!
Well done M on the crawling, O keeps getting into a crawling position but then remembers he hates being on his front and starts wailing! I really don't know what to do with him at all.

I'm off to bed too, hopefully we will not be up at 4 this morning.

Honeymoonmummy · 14/06/2009 22:19

Well I was never 100% as to whether it had made a significant difference in the first place CSWS as you know and I think her aversion to onions was clouding the issue as I didn't discover how sick the onions made her until long after I gave up dairy. She's perfectly fine, absolutely LOVES cheese, she had cheese on toast today soaked in a bit of oat milk (per paed dietician try cows milk last) cut into fingers and she loved it. We've only been giving her one portion of dairy a day, first yoghurt, then butter on toast, then cheese, but so far so good!

Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 22:21

CSWS - I used to walk or run to 6th form so didn't need to drive. I also used to walk to work at the weekends. I used to walk everywhere and was skinny as a rake as a result. Where I live there is no real need to drive, unless you have small people to ferry about. When I was a teen I would walk, get the bus or the train everywhere. I didn't ever rely on my mum to drive me places. Did you live in the sticks? If so then you needed to drive or go totally insane!!!

Hmm - I don't know what to suggest then. I hope someone can help you out. I still don't think you should necessarily listen to the acupuncturist, but I'm not going to start that again.......

Honeymoonmummy · 14/06/2009 22:22

I test drove a mini clubman MM about 18 months ago and didn't like it. (I had actually asked for a mini cooper) The rear visibility is shocking, esp for a learner. Sorry to rain on your parade, I'm in a crap mood today! DH and I aren't speaking. He came in last night from a night out to a concert, admittedly his first solo night out post-baby, and I asked him to take a turn rocking Poppy (she likes being swung rather than rocked so it takes it out on my knees and back) and he said he had bad knees too!!!!!!!!! So I did it myself and I've hardly spoken to him all day. I'm going to bed before I piss anyone else off! Night all!

Honeymoonmummy · 14/06/2009 22:24

Well it hasn't worked so far MM. It is quite common I think for people who live in London to not drive as it's not necessary, I know quite a few people like that. Couldn't do without it in the sticks, as you say.

Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 22:30

Hmm - I fully expect to end up with a boring family car but I can dream. I love Minis but might have to forgo my dream car for practicality. You've not pissed me off (if you meant me that is....)

I think we should arrange a spa weekend (using the DHs' credit cards of course), all of us and leave these bloody DHs on their own for a couple of days. My lovely DH would be happy about it too as he thinks I need to have some me time.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2009 22:32

I used to walk or cycle to 6th form, but wanted to learn to drive regardless. I thought that most 17 year olds did tbh. I didn't get my first car (a 10 yr old fiesta) until I was turning 21 (I had to go halves on it with my parents).

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2009 22:33

No spa weekend for me mm. Leaving dh in the lurch is one thing, but abandoning my divine ds who needs his mummy is another.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 14/06/2009 22:35

I can't see you ending up with a boring anything MM. Get what you want and ignore me x

Spa weekend sounds lush. I've never been to a spa or even had a massage. In fact I've only had one manicure (on wedding do day) and one pedicure (near due date) in my life.

I persuaded my dad to take me out driving on my 17th birthday CSWS! I couldn't wait either!

Honeymoonmummy · 14/06/2009 22:36

Right, I'm DEFINITELY off now.

Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 22:36

Hmm - You have a sluggish thyroid don't you? I have looked it up and can find no indication that you should avoid dairy. I have found a recommendation to avoid sugar though.

CSWS - I was just never very interested in learning to drive. Can't really explain why!

Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 22:37

Hmm - Heh heh! I suppose, I don't really do normal!

Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 22:39

CSWS - I know what you mean. I couldn't leave my little poppet either. She would probably just cry until I got home.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2009 22:43

Let's book it for when they are 5 then mm. Even my two should have given up bf by then .

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 22:52

CSWS - If things go to plan I'll have a 2.5 year old too!!! But, sounds like a plan.... I bet your boy will be really hard to get off the boob. I have a feeling that M will be difficult.

How about this? I think it is gorgeous!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/06/2009 23:04

I reckon he'll be easier to get off than dd!

Don't buy an Alfa. They are really craply built. Dh had just bought one (a GTV) when I met him. He thought it would impress the ladies!

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 14/06/2009 23:13

Things might have changed since then CSWS as I have a friend who has had many cars and absolutely swears by Alfas. I need to have something a bit different or I'll get bored really quickly. Minis are beautiful but I have heard about the poor rear window visibility from loads of people.

star6 · 15/06/2009 09:51

I drive a vectra. Getting a ford mondeo next month. How boring is THAT??? I would never have thought I'd buy a ford, but it's only £1000 and has only 54,000 miles on it (being sold by a family from my school). So, it's more practical and economically affordable!! It was SO HARD to pass the driving test here compared with in America. I could drive on my american license here for 1 year, then I needed to get a british one I guess after 1 year americans become dangerous on the road! ha! So, I took lessons ALL summer, then went to take my first test, arrived, got a migraine opened the door to get out of hte car and go into the test centre and vomited.
I was so that I pulled back out of the space and backed in to cover it. I was shaking so much that I failed.
Next time, I passed easily.
In america, I couldn't parallel park or reverse park but I just got 6 points off for it. Here, I would have failed not being able to park! I do feel like I'm a much better and safer driver now. Glad I did it.

Marthasmama · 15/06/2009 10:19

Hello stranger! I am after a smallish car so a vectra or a mondeo would be too big for me. DH would still have the big family car, mine would be just for me and the dc during the week. If we needed a big car we would use his.

I have looked up a review comparing the Mini with the Mito and the Mini came out as the more safe and steady. German steadiness v's Italian flair I suppose! I should get the Italian really........ I might start a thread....

star6 · 15/06/2009 10:22

I'd like a little car, too! As we only have Q.... but just happened upon both of these monster cars as they were so cheap and can't afford a smaller one now.

jenwa · 15/06/2009 11:42

Hi all

Have not been able to get on here for some reason!

have been reading but forgotten lots now

Went out yesterday to the air show and it was great although we were held up so really pissed off, we left later than planned as dd1 had the squits, think from the medicine so then had 3 toilet stops on the way as we took a ptty just in case! DH's parents wanted to follow us so they arrived then DH and they were discussing route, anyway an hours journey took 4 as traffic awful, the organisation was crap and it was just a nightmare, MIL was getting out her car and kept coming to us and then to BIL and getting there kids out and then had to get them back in really quickly as traffic was moving, I off course thought that was very funny she kept coming to our car and annoying me as kept asking if dds were ok and do we need drink and food and anything, which was lovely but also annoying when we had a food and drink and makes me look like I am a crap mum not bringing stuff! Anyway, MIL got out car towards the end and ran to ours saying that the car park was closed we would have to get our tickets reimbursed and go home even though I was meeting my parents there! I said well no we will park up somewhere else and walk, she was so off with me and started going on that it was busy and hot and full and la la la la la and then I decided to call my mum and tell her we were coming and would walk in MIL had not got tickets so I had no probs them going home anyway we did all go in. Before going in Me and DH had a huge row by the car and he was really horrible, never been like that and I was not nice as his mum had annoyed me but even though we were arguing she came over and he actually told her to go away which made me have a little chuckle as he is never like that to her Found out later that he had not had a fag so was tetchy!
We walked about 30 mins to get in there and all the way MIL was trying to either take my children or SILS children or carry them, my bag anything, I know she was trying to be helpful but its bloody annoying when she wont let go of my pushchair or trying to prize dd of DH even though she was poorly and wanted to be with DH. When we got in there I took dd1 and went off to find my parents leaving DH and dd2 with his family
Anyway, day was fine in the end, spend the time with my parents, was bit peeved that his parents never made an effort to see my parents and I think my parents were a bit miffed too but MIL was just for the children no one else. We did go and spend the last bit of time with his parents and it was ok appart from the odd irrating moments. It is not because she is a MIL though she is just very irrating at times. When we came home she kept texting to make sure we were ok and text to say where they were and I text to say we were driving down our road and she text back to ask if we were home yet, I wanted to text back and say "no we were now lost in our own road" She is just very controlling and wants the kids all the time and cant not be with them. She hated having attention and think being with the kids is a distraction but it si such hard work when she is always trying to take them or do something. She was wiping DD1s mouth yesterday as I was trying to do it and if DD's hat was not on she was putting another one on her, they brought hats for them in case we would forget! Its sounds awful as she is actaully kind but I think I feel like she is always one step ahead and makes me look crap! She often says things back if you mention that your child is being a monkey like "no they are not naughty" when yesterday I was referring to DD2 being a monkey for fighting her sleep. She was gong on about DD2 being good all day which she was but MIL did not spend the time with her to know anyway!
Ok ranted now!

HM good news about Poppy, and also the babbling, Phoebe is babbling now too, dd1 said "mummy Phoebes talking" I said "what did she say" Dd1 "I dont know mummy" it was just babble so made no sense but its such a cute little voice and sometimes I have to check which one is talking as she sounds simular to DD1

Phoebe also moving backwards and sitting well now.

hayfever pants today thats for sitting in a field yesterday I think!

Well off now to check on DD's.
Sorry about the rant and sorry if you have all fallen asleep!

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/06/2009 11:46

but you'll need it to be a decent size to fit 3 car seats in won't you mm?!
