turnip sorry I didn't mean to ignore your post, sorry to hear about the bf coming to an end but glad to hear L is doing well

daisydora · 16/05/2009 21:47

Quick post...

I luurrrvveee Eurovision. In my student days we had huge parties. Must dash, voting on soon. Can you believe the Lord himself playing piano on Eurovision....pure quality

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 22:01

PMSL at L's explorations Trace, however did the conversation stop there. So glad it isn't just boys who are at there bits. Though I'm sure she isn't at it constantly like my DS1 with his willy. I heard him talking to DH in the bath the other day. He said daddy you have a big willy, I have a small willy and mummy has a really small willy. Bless him he just won't accept that I don't have a willy.

Have been away overnight in Hemel Hampstead (free holiday inn priority club card points hooray!) then DH had his comp early this morning then we met some old London NCT friends at Whipsnade Zoo was brilliant and their son was DS1s best friend in London so was great for them to see each other again.

Back too late to see UK in eurovision but watching the recap now, I think DH wants to move to Azerbijan after seeing the bit of their recap. Has Graham been any good, how was Jade.

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 22:03

Kayz welldone on FBing from your phone will try that on Monday when my number changes over to my new account.

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 22:09

How did Germany get Dita?

tillyfernackerpants · 16/05/2009 22:12

Jade was dull, GN has been Terry Wogan with claws

Not sure how Germany got Dita, but my god how tiny is her waist?

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 22:41

Oh Tilly you reminded me (oops intermission to feed boy DH paused the show so I could see the Finish dude) I have G&B butterscotch.

Hooray UK have loads of points. I thought Iceland could have given UK 12 considering all the money £'s they lost!

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 23:06

Oh dear chocolate is all gone!!! Oops.

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 23:16

Well he's no Morten Harkett.

Veggiemummy · 16/05/2009 23:36

Right really should go to bed. Just to let you all know DH and I are doing a cycle ride from Bristol to Derby via Wales in August. It is to raise money for the Hystiocytosis UK research fund. It's a nasty potentially fatal illness that a friend of mine's little boy had. Thankfully he is remission now but he was born 10 days before DS1 and in his little life he has endure countless hospitalizations and painful treatments. We need to raise £500 pounds together for the charity but would love to raise more. We are taking turns riding it because unfortunately neither of the boys can drive themselves along in the support vehicles. There are 21 other riders currently signed up. I have set up a justgiving site www.justgiving.com/TeamKho of course I don't expect you to donate but if anyone fancies supporting us no matter how much we would be grateful. They are currently working on a bloodtest which could quickly diagnose Hystiocytosis and therefore help find it early and increase the chances of survival.

Right blurb over I'm off to bed.

Kayzr · 17/05/2009 07:28

Morning,

Veggie you just need this Simple, just buy one each(bit expensive though). Have sponsored you but will give a bit more at pay day.

Hope you all enjoyed eurovision!!

Last night was quite good except for DS1 falling off a chair and cutting his eye. He has a nice cut on his eyelid and looks like he's been fighting Frank Bruno or something. He doesn't seem remotely bothered by it and soon stopped crying when Jenny(who owns restaurant) gave him some smarties for being a good boy. I've promised him a toy of his choice today.

Still not much sleep last night. Not sure if it this blocked nose or what but I feel exhausted now.

pmk1 · 17/05/2009 08:01

Hi all!
This will be quick as I have a million things to do!
We are back from holiday - great time, despite terrible weather. B was great on the plane, however on the way back a massive 250ml projectile vomit while lining up for some noodles at HKG airport will not be forgotton! Thankfully B was in the Bjorn facing out!!!
Anyway, plently more to say, but really must get some things done and have really only skim read - fast - but wanted to say hi Pingu! Welcome back Verso, Sorry about house Lady (we have come back to 2 months notice from our tenant so might be some location changes for us soon) Great news Lal, Turnip sorry you're sad about BF - i'm onto full formula now too as the trip really was the end of the partial BF since the timings were difficult etc. Veggie thanks for the info on Yoga / Pilates... I'm going to sign up for some intro classes as soon as I find some and see how I go!
I'm homesick now so any S or SW meetups much needed!!!!!

EffiePerine · 17/05/2009 08:06

Morning . Time to link arms and hum on the sleep front, DS2 still v unsettled and also coughy and sicky. He's fine in himself though. DS1's foot has recovered thank goodness. he was still gamely limping away till I pointed out that it didn't hurt any more. He is now helping me to type so better post this soon before it vanishes.

JJ: great news on your night. DS2 doesn't seem to get on with grobags, must try again.

Kayz: sounds like a buy weekend! Hope your cold is better.

LadyT: I'm sure you'll find your house soon, the last one sounded like a money pit... or you could try Essex, close to London and all that

We had a good time the other day at the local soft play, it was clean & well run and as it wasn't busy we stayed most of the day . I managed to meet up with some local mums which was really nice.

Veggie: well done on the bike ride, will do what I can

EffiePerine · 17/05/2009 08:15

Oh and I got all excited cos DS1 has asking to use the potty and has actually done a wee AND a poo on it - but now he's refusing again. We've decided to go for pull-ups and following his lead for now, but may need to go for the boot-camp approach if this doesn't work!

tillyfernackerpants · 17/05/2009 11:04

effie fingers crossed potty gets used more! So, are the local mums nice?

pmk nice to see you back, glad you had a good holiday

Ds2 had another good night last night. Went down without a peep, woke at 11.30pm for his bottle, back to sleep until 6.30am . Am hoping it continues!

Quick poll question if you don't mind: dh out at rugby yesterday & came home quite drunk. Not falling over but staggering a little & a bit of slurring. He said he was still fine to feed ds2 at 11 but I said no, that I would do it. He still thinks this morning that he was ok to feed ds2 but I said that if he couldn't stand up or talk properly then no he wasn't, what if he'd fallen asleep & dropped ds2 or something? Apparently I was overreacting. So, question is, was I overreacting? Or should I have let him feed ds2? We've both agreed to abide by the decision made here & not to discuss it further afterwards

spotofcheerfulness · 17/05/2009 11:16

Hmm, tricky one Tilly, my DP went out last night, got in at 2.30 am and fed T at 5am, I've always told him in advance that he has to be in a fit state to feed him (basically to put the bottle in the right end!) and left him to it. For me it's important that he takes responsibility for himself but doesn't think it's a cop out if he goes out and drinks a lot he doesn't have to share the feeds! I guess a lot depends on how they are when they're drunk - I don't think there's a right or a wrong answer. But I'm not surprised your DH said you were overreacting - they often get defensive and take the offensive when they know they're wrong .

Veggiemummy · 17/05/2009 11:24

I think in cases like this better safe than sorry. Also who was drunk you weren't so your probably best placed to decide what is best for ds2. He needs to look at what's more important him feeling put out because he has come home drunk when he was supposed to be on feed duty for DS2 or DS2's safety. Would he turn up to work drunk?

Also forgot to add a few things from yesterday. Trace we have had the dreaded head lice in the veggie household, which is no wonder with DS1's thick hair. He picked it up in Australia from his cousin. We have very resistant lice in Oz so after giving up on all the treatments that kill the lice I found one called Hedrin at Boots that is some chemical that suffocates them so they can never build a resistance to it. Sorted them out stat, 86'd the buggers and have not seen them since. The lady at boots recommended it because her family had the same evil lice that laughed at all the other treatments and she was Indian and all her family had long hair and mingled with extended family and it was driving he crazy and Hedrin was the one thing that worked.

Daisy DS2 is back to 3 short sleeps a day too. Every few days he will have a random 2 hour sleep, usually when I need to go somewhere and was assuming he would only sleep for 45 mins.

Kayzr · 17/05/2009 11:37

Tilly I wouldn't have let DH feed DS2 if he had been drinking to the point he couldn't stand properly and was slurring.

Just found a big graze on DS1's back. Probably from falling of his chair. I feel so sorry for him with his black eye.

Our bloody sky box is broken!!

Veggiemummy · 17/05/2009 11:39

Oh and Kayz thank you so much you are very quick off the mark. I was so excited when I found out this morning that we already have a sponsor. That's plenty your very generous. I really do appreciate it. My DH said it's cos your an Arsenal fan when I told him who our first sponsor was.

DH & DS1 are at football this morning, they are trying out the Derby County in the community program for ds1 as they are proper FA qualified couches. DS1 is so excited he loves footy practice. He normally goes to a Saturday morning club run by another group but it's always over subscribed and a bit disorganized so we decided to try this one out.

PMK I think I know the noodle place you are talking about. Was she facing the glass window with the bowls of example food behind it?!

Turnip sorry your feeding is coming to an end it's more than 5 months now so pretty good but it's always sad when it ends. Well done though, and bottle feeding still requires cuddles.

Effie I used to be very against pull ups but I think I could be hired as a sales women for them now. If you hear anyone say it confuses them or slows down TT head butt them from me. Those things saved my sanity and a lot of floor coverings. DS1 went 2 months with TT he would happily use the potty but if he was busy or playing he would just do it where he was. This is apparently what happens if you use pull ups but I wasn't using them. I for so sick of being stressed and never able to relax at friends houses that I bought pull ups and he was sorted a week later and I think we only used a couple of packs. I think the breakthrough was me being less stressed so able to concentrate on encouraging him properly. He still had the occassional accident but only once a week rather than every day.

Veggiemummy · 17/05/2009 12:32

Oh Kayz poor F, and at Sky, so near the end of season and delegation Sunday! Hope it's sorted soon

Veggiemummy · 17/05/2009 12:33

Hey have you switched it off & on again Kayz?

artichokes · 17/05/2009 12:45

Hi Everyone

Lovely to hear from you Effie and to hear you are making friend with the local mums. Having to make new friends is what most puts me of about moving. We could get a much nicer house if I were prepared to move out to Zone 3 but I have so many friends here since having DD1. Its silly really, because as your experience shows, you quickly make new friends when you have kids.

Its also lovely to see you back Turnip. I hope you manage to keep visiting us every now and then. I might go out and but those Cazalet books. A few weeks ago I finished Brideshead (on recommendation from you lot) and really enjoyed it but since then have failed to get into any other book. When I am this tired I need something to be a great read to hold my attention long enough each night. Sorry to hear about your sadness over the end of BFing. DId you feed your others for longer? I think much of the sadness if hormonal as I remember it from DD1 even though she was 14 months and I was desperate to stop.

Any news from JJ since S did her fab sleep on Thursday night? I hope it has been repeated JJ.

And LadyT I am sorry to hear about your house falling through. But as you were having some doubts it may be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully you will now find another place with fewer problems. Also this original vendor may come back begging in a few weeks when she realises that in this market she is not going to get a top price for a dilapidated property.

Tilly I do not think you were over reacting at all. Look on the FSID website and you will see that tragedy is much more likely to occur in situations such as a slightly drunk parent feeding on the sofa and dosing off.

I am glad you had a great holiday PMK despite the weather. Lets hear all the details once your settled.

And Veggie I LOVE Whipsnade. Used to go alot as a kid.

Well I have had a shite weekend with yet another bug. Vomiting all night Friday yet still having to breastfeed th Incredible-Non-Sleeping-Baby every few hours. This constant illness in our household is really getting me down. I feel like I am ill every couple of weeks with mastitis/bad back/ vomiting etc and if its not me its DD1 or DH. I know of no other family so susceptible to illness and TBH it is really beginning to depress me. Before I had kids I never had a day off work in 6 years so why is my immune system so bad now? What do we do differently to healthy families?? W eat very well, we exercise, the house is pretty clean, I breastfed both kids. Surely we deserve some good health... Sorry for the rant but it is just awful having to cancel arrangement after arrangement because one or other of us is bedridden.

Any news from Posion lately? Or Katie?

Kayzr · 17/05/2009 15:20

Veggie We've turned it on and off a few times. There sending someone out tomorrow.

tillyfernackerpants · 17/05/2009 15:22

Thanks for the replies everyone. After reading these out to him dh has agreed that I may possibly have been right . Though I don't know why he doesn't just accept that from me in the first place! But anyway, we've agreed not to talk about it anymore now!

arti sorry you're so ill again. It does sound very wearing, fingers crossed you all get better soon. As for reading recommendations have you tried this website. Type in an author you like & it plots all the others who are similar.

kayz is your sky box back on? Sometimes switching it off at the plug gives it a kickstart. Though you've probably already tried that!

veggie an old family friend is a football coach in Derby, I wonder if your ds1 will be coached by him?!

Veggiemummy · 17/05/2009 18:42

Oh maybe Tilly, the Derby in the community kids coach I met at the Football festival that Derby held the weekend of the ladies FA cup final was luuurvely. He was quite tall and had the most gorgeous blue eyes. I'm not sure if he is coaching DS1 because DH took him and well I couldn't ask DH if the coach he had fitted the above description. He did enjoy it though. It is really well organized and the pitch that the under 5's use has slightly longer AstroTurf so makes the ball a little slower and is softer if they fall over so sweet. Much nicer than the gym he was in for his previous classes. He loved it too because the coach spoke straight him and was really encouraging. I might go along next week and have a coffee while he's playing and have a little look. The dads get involved too and they get the kids to play against the dads. Gosh I have gone on about this haven't I. We Aussies get a bit excited about our kids playing sport.

I went for a nice run this afternoon to a place called Markeaton stones. I love being able to run away from crowds and people here in Derby, much as I loved running in London I did find constant people around a bit annoying esp the ones who found it amusing to yell comments at me as I ran past.
