right am off to watchtv spend quality time with DH

sazz if this rug is shite you're in trouble

TwilightSurfer · 28/04/2009 21:54

right. just returning. never did get the chance to reread today's posts but i did notice cyteen was lost too. so i don't feel bad on the "can't remember shit i've read" front.

good job dizzy. the rug is beautiful.

miamla could you stop by and pick of my dd1 now. it might be a good idea to let albs' dd1 and my dd1 entertain each other. she's also a non-stop-talker.

albs so so so so so sorry ds is still under the weather and not feeding. {{{hugs}}}

buckets you have to do what you have to do to stay sane (or is it sain).

kitchen update: backsplash arrived today so dh needs to install that and the baseboard trim and then i'll call it quits in there for this year. cabinet doors will be replaced next year (hopefully) then it will be COMPLETELY DONE. i promise pics and a walking thru video when dh's part is finished.

off to do something...not sure but i'm sure i need to be doing something since it's 5 till 5.

Miamla · 28/04/2009 22:02

hmm, true, they might entertain each other but i'm willing to bet that it'll end up that they both talk to me! Albs' dd is truly lovely company, i had a lovely time with her. She's a character and a half! Tried to tell me that DP was DS's daddy because we're not married! I don't think DP will be too amused by that!

TS so are you pleased your oven broke? was it the kick you needed to get your kitchen sorted?

hotterpotter · 28/04/2009 22:05

Well done on choosing Dizzy it'll look fab.

Buckets you have definitely done your bit, enjoy the well-fitting trousers

Miamla glad you and ALBS' DD had so much fun

ALBS poor you and poor DS . As a child sufferer of tonsillitis I remember it being really grim I'm sure your supply is sufficiently established to survive this blip and will soon recover once DS starts to feel better [fingers crossed]

No1 oooh I hope you are having fun at your charlatan psychic night

TS for the weather - it was lovely last week but we are definitely having April showers this week

VG hope you are enjoying your vegetable-growing lesson. When you get back please remind me to plant my runner bean seeds

Sambo for your DH, I know how he feels being surplus to requirements but I'm in the fortunate position that they have to find me summat else to do. Will he get much of a payout to tide you over [fingers crossed]?

Hi Poppy Hope it went OK at work

Hi Pertelote I'm sure they'll accommodate your request. There's too much thnking about work today isn't there 6 weeks 3 days to go for me I think

Glad you don't have to move Steaky [phew]. I have resisted the temptation to look at more property porn with your links, or I would have been there all day

Sazzles hope you got something yummy for lunch

Sibh for your shouty moment, I'm not surprised though after losing that much stuff . Is this what I have to look forward to with my boy then?

Flip that took ages wonder how many x-posts...

hotterpotter · 28/04/2009 22:12

Only two quiet on here tonight!

TS yay for your almost completed kitchen You'll have to bake a lemon drizzle cake in honour of MN!

I was laughing actually earlier with tales of wonky baking but forgot to share that DD and I made a (pink) cake on Sunday, it was my first use of a loose-bottomed tin I'd got from the charity shop down the road [bargain]. Only trouble was that the loose bottom was a little looser than I was expecting and the cake mix was dripping out all over the oven I had to get it out and quickly scoop the mix into bun cases, luckily the buns were yummy and the splashes landed on a baking tray and made tiny drop-cakes which were also nice [phew]

hotterpotter · 28/04/2009 22:18

Well it's too quiet so I'm off to bed and you'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear the story of my first time behind the wheel of a car in 22 years [pedestrians beware]

Night night laydeees

LoveBuckets · 28/04/2009 22:20

TS"then i'll call it quits in there for this year." LOL Yeah right

Miamla Perhaps she's getting you confused with the Mary and Joseph scenario? They were married but he wasn't the father was it?

Cinema and sushi again tomorrow, hope Kurt's a bit less of a grizwald by then. Hope everyone's LOs perk up overnight, magic happy dust to all (in the style of that freaky Kirk's Folly jewellery woman on QVC.)

Miamla · 28/04/2009 22:31

i asked albs about it and she said it was to do with dd's friend's mother having a boyfriend who wasn't the dd's friend's father (she's divorced the father) i think!

ooh, cinema and sushi sounds like a lovely idea. what are you watching?

right, DS has been asleep for a little while now (in his cot in his own room!!!!) so i'm going to Bedward too

night all

Miamla · 28/04/2009 22:31

but lol, i prefer the Mary and Joseph scenario!

TwilightSurfer · 29/04/2009 00:06

napped.
eaten. (dinner was delivered by dh)
house still straight.
no children fussing.
all's well with the world.

relax

Sibh · 29/04/2009 00:18

Good luck with the driving hotter - good for you for taking it up again. Are you takaing lessons?

I'm glad the rug situation is sorted Dizzy. The one you picked is lovely and Dh was v. impressed with the posh wallpaper.

Update on DS: well, I'm not imagining the fact that he is currently bypassing RL. He was kept inside at break-time for 5 minutes after failing to listen to the teacher's instructions for several days in a row. Most aggrieved he was. He was a dote this afternoon though and was actively trying to re-enter our orbit so that's all to the good.

Sazzles you are totally right about it being normal for small boys, but I need to remember this before I open my mouth, not after I've launched into a scolding. He only retains interesting facts. Boring day-to-day stuff goes over his head. I need to treat this as permanently true and not a passing phase.

As to his clothing. We retrieved his coat, which he had managed to leave at school, but we are still down two jumpers and, nearly, a pair of football boots. He went to training tonight and while everyone else ran around the bloody ridiculously huge mudbath, he ran through it, lost a boot and practically lost his head aswell. The poor pup was distraughtand took much consoling.

I had to go in to rescue one child, while keeping another out of the mud, rescuing the prized boot and wearing the third child in a sling. If the boot hadn't heen silver, I'd never have found it as it was totally submerged. Did I mention that he locked himself in the bathroom yesterday?

Sambo i'm so sorry to hear about your DP's job. I hope he is able to find something soon.

Albs- a doctor told me once that children are much more sensible than us. If they have a sore foot, they won't use it; if they have a sore throat they won't eat: I'm sure the milk strike is purely practical from Henry's point of view. If you have some frozen EBM, would he eat chips of it perhaps so he gets the milk and relief for his poor throat?

Miamla- I will get back to you on the miamla wrap. It sounds fab.

  • I'm looking forward to seeing those kitchen pictures.

I must go to bed. Goodnight all.

pertelote · 29/04/2009 07:35

Morning! I need to be in work-mind-mode so can I order an executive breakfast from Catering for anyone? (Tea/coffee, OJ and mini danish, IIRC) Yuck

Thanks Sazzles, I think I have definitely been guilty of the attitude you deplore . You are quite right of course. Have been trying to think of ways in which my being PT can assist this new set-up but will know more after the meeting. Poppy I am in quality assurance - in HE so quality of teaching, student experience etc. Actually it made me laugh the other day when someone said how would our DHs like it if we told them how to do their jobs - well mine is a lecturer so I do, often

Sibh your poor little chap. Hope today is better for you both!

Sambo so sorry to hear your DP's news. Not fun . Totally agree with VG that he must be highly desirable so hope things work out quickly for you.

ALBS hope things are starting to improve round yours too - not sure I'm near enough to be as useful as Miamla but if there is anything I can do, just shout.

This has taken ages so to everyone else.

Morning all. Ooh catering breakfast. Think I'll pass thanks . Have just opened a new pot of yummy strawberry jam, but scoffed the last croissant. So, strawberry jam anyone?

pertelote - I'm HE admin too so . Not your area, but did do an office swap with them just before I left on ML. They now have one of the nicest offices in the place, while I get to overlook the Police Station . Good luck today.

Your poor Mum VG. Hope she's ok. Must have been a shock for her but a relief for her (and you) to have had her friend there.

Can't wait to hear your story hp... Living in the country when I was 17, passing my test was a pre-requisite to a life. Was terrified to begin with though. V. impressed you've managed to get back to it after such a gap (I say this before hearing how you got on....

Have a lovely day buckets.

Anyone want a super grizzly baby? Another tooth is through and another one imminently pending, so I think we have reason. Nonetheless, this is soooo tedious....

pertelote Hi.Hope dds cough is getting better.
ts you deserve a rest, glad kitchen is nearly sorted for now
hotter yeah for driving, please tell.
Hope you were ok.
buckets good for you re nappies, you have done great.
miamla albs dd sounds wonderful.I have a feeling my dd once in full conversation may be the same. Does she get it from me on no.
albs hopefully H milk refusal will be just because of his sore throat. Nursing strikes are very common.
I second cyteens idea to maybe seek advise from Tiktok she has given me some great advice before.
sibh My dsis has the same problem with her both her boys and uniform. She struggles to afford at most of the time so does get angry frustrated sometimes.

xpost
hi poppy I too have just had strawberry jam, but only on toast.
morning sazzles enjoy your swimming.

Sleep with both going very very well thanks.
Ds asleep immediately. DD asleep within 4 minutes last night. Its amazing and I am feeling a whole lot better about it all tbh.

Enjoyed my night out last night at the charlatan psychic evening. Never been to an open circle before. Was very emotional and also funny.
My dsis came and we had private readings. My sisters was scarily accurate, Mine was one some issues.
My friend whose dad died the other week came through, she is a bit of a sceptic, but she just had his funeral on monday and some of the things the medium was saying was to accurate for my friend not to believe.
I wont say much more as I know its not a lot of poeples cup of tea.

I was very and pissed of at dh though,as I was clock watching all night thinking ooh I better go soon, hope he is ok with kids. ffs they are his too I need to et a grip on that. Anyhow I had some healing from the mediums partner and I didnt get home till nearly 1am, I got in bed and the cheeky fecker said 'what time do you call this'I was so I decided to ignore rather than yell at him.
There may be a few choice words when he comes home this evening.I never said anything when he went out few weeks ago came home said he was bored went back out and didnt get in till early hours.blind drunk at that.

hotterpotter · 29/04/2009 09:24

Lovely day here after all the rain, and my lovely clever DS sat in his highchair smeared in jam and banana after a night when he woke at 2.30 and then went back to sleep until....7.30am

Not really an exciting story re the driving , I just had my first ever proper lesson yesterday. Hadn't had a go since I was 17/18 and that was just a few tries in my parents' old automatic Cortina. Was OK though, and have agreed to do it again next week so maybe I'll be a driver by the time I'm 41 [fingers crossed]. I have no idea how I'm going to be able to afford all the lessons it's going to take

Sorry to hear about your mum VG, I'm sure LDC will make her feel a bit better

Poppy not too many more teeth to go . DS has 6 and I think 2 more top ones on the way soon, how many are you up to?

No1 glad you had fun . I am firmly of the belief that it's all codswallop, no afterlife, ghosts, psychics, anything of that sort, however friends of mine who I have every reason to trust are adamant that there's something in it so aaaaah I don't know!!! Hope you playmerryhell put your point across to DH
