Steaknife · 15/04/2009 08:53

Porrdge and maple syrup anyone?

no1 no reat adventures here last night, but no cross words either. Fell asleep in front of tv at about 10. oooh the excitement.

DH came home and said "If DD wakes up then I will put her back to sleep after you feed her."

I thought "woohoo at last!"

At 1.15am, turns out he meant only if it was before midnight.
So had baby awake and swearing DH for an hour and a half.

Does anyone elses DH ask daft questions in the middle of the night?
"have you fed her?", "yes", "are you sure?"
I do manage not to say, "no dear I've been sticking her with pins cos I thought that would be a good way to get her to sleep."

silly man

he too is scared of the poo.

right floors to sweep....

Steaknife · 15/04/2009 08:56

morning simnel

dizzydixies · 15/04/2009 09:16

morning all, strange night in the dixie household - DH came home at midnight after a LOONNGGGGG day and finally got something to eat bless him. DD2 shouting a wee bit but went over once settled, Dylan a wee bit shouty too but wasn't up so to speak. I was however as had to go to loo and ended up thinking too much

Dylan up at 6.15 so already away back to bed for nap but in the hour that we were up without the other two I managed to get more housework done than I've managed since I got home!! have now banished them to the dumpingground playroom in the hope of my breakfast in peace

steaky I too get the idiotic questions, am not sure if they just think they should be saying something but don't know what so blurt out any old nonsense?

simnel does that mean you don't need me to tend to any bumps or scrapes that you have?!?!

oopsacoconut · 15/04/2009 09:30

Morning all

Well I was going to be on here last night but at 9ish the screen came up with a page saying your broadband has been suspended due to an unpaid bill I aske Dh when he had paid the bill and where it was? He had filed it but NOT paid it first So cue BIG arguement on bill paying, how to log onto BT to pay, him having left his wallet at work etc........ luckily for me DD woke at this point and I chose to go to bed!

We are off to be weighed today, i got a stroppy phonecall yesterday mentioning I hadn't been last week as expected and they wanted to see if she had gained enough and discuss the implications if she hadn't. So off to find out the implications and tell them to BOG OFF, she is healthy and happy and even has a few chubby rolls so is NOT underweight.

Back later.

dizzydixies · 15/04/2009 09:32

good for you oops give them hell !

cyteen · 15/04/2009 09:52

no1 I love the idea of a curse pad on laptops Think mine must be permanently stuck [potty mouth emoticon]

Also rofling somewhat at all the confessions from fellow caners...let's just say the 90s were very good to me I still like the odd toke now and again if I'm in the mood; have promised DP that once I've stopped breastfeeding and DS is old enough to spend a weekend with the grandfolks, I shall be whisking us off for a romantic weekend in Amsterdam

Speaking of stopping bf, I think I might be cutting back sooner than anticipated. DS just doesn't seem that bothered about milk atm and expressing is less productive than it once was, even while feeding from the other side. Also (whisper it) last night was another feedless night, with DS waking just once at 3am and very quickly settling/being settled with no intervention from me. I still love bf and I know he does still want it, but I think we'll be moving towards just morning and evening and introducing some formula soon. I sent off his nursery place application yesterday [sob] so he'll need to be familiar with ff before starting there...

sambo303 · 15/04/2009 09:58

goodness are we suppose to still be doing the weighing thing? I've completely forgot about hv and all that. ds has knee overhang though so dont think there's a problem...

steak my dp says 'why is ds crying?'

dizzy its nice to know you are there with the arnica if I ever fall, even if it's on my rear!

cyteen · 15/04/2009 10:02

I only take DS to be weighed when I've nothing better to do/when I'm curious as to exactly how much wear and tear carrying him around is putting on my joints. No pun intended.

Steaknife · 15/04/2009 10:06

Hope all goes well with the weigh in oops

Threads ago someone was asking about the cups we use with DCs. I use a cup from a thermos flask. I brought a magic cup, but it is a bit of a faff. DD has worked out how to make the drink come out, but it has to be really full which makes it quite heavy for her and I am loathe to waste put in EBM if I am just going to end up throwing it away.
I also brought a very pretty Elmer cup with a spout and lid, but this is already cracking around the hanles from the flinging aound it gets. The lovely Elmer bowl my mum brought didn't last a day.

Also sippy cups just drench the baby.

So I use a bright red thermos cup. It seems to be just the right size in that it isn't too deep so I don't have to put too much water in it for Izzy to drink from it. It has a little handle and I let her play with it when it is empty and hold it for her to drink from. She is getting better at holding it correctly and trying to drink from it.

And on the forward/rearward facing buggies - see I do pay attention I just don't always remember what I was going to say.

I have two buggies that we were given, one of which has forward and rearward options for the pushchair seat. I am keeping it facing me because I read an article that said that it helps your child's language development. I also think it must be pretty scary to be facing all that traffic coming towards you when you are so little.

My current buggy crush is on this one actually any of the bebe confort ones.

Steaknife · 15/04/2009 10:10

Here is the article.

Though obv I'm not saying that people with outward facing buggies are bad parents. I'm just really pleased that we have the option because we were given one, no way we could afford a parent facing one otherwise.

cyteen · 15/04/2009 10:18

Cups - we just use a Tommee Tippee (spit) lidded one. Joe seems to have grasped how it works now and quite enjoys drinking water, although not as much as he enjoys banging the cup on the highchair like a tiny lag before chucking it on the floor as hard as possible.

Steaknife · 15/04/2009 10:21

LOL at "Tiny lag" hmm I can just see him in his stripey jumper and big bag of swag.

(that is what lag still means - prisoner, been away from home too long)

cyteen · 15/04/2009 10:56

Indeed it is He looks especially dodgy in his stripy pyjamas with the sleeves rolled up.

dizzydixies · 15/04/2009 11:22

cyteen, Dylan a banger too and quite indignant when peering over the side of the highchair at the wretched object that dares not to make its way back up to her

love kids in stripes - Dylan sporting some rather fetching pink and brown striped dungarees today

dizzydixies · 15/04/2009 12:02

just got my back to work form through the post confirming my return to work on July 6th (am on annual leave until mid Aug) but its all too soon for my liking - sorry for those already back

cyteen · 15/04/2009 13:55

It's a weird feeling isn't it? I kind of feel like this right now is how things are meant to be and life will carry on like this forever...having said that, I am looking forward to having a bit of adult life back again (even if it is via work).

How's things coming along with your community cafe dizzy? Are you whipping the committees into shape?

dizzydixies · 15/04/2009 14:00

lol funny you should mention that, was doing stuff for it this morning and have a meeting with the surveyor tomorrow. committee meeting next week so hopefully I'll be able to give them some more positive news then
