Morning all. Another mixed night here, she's taking a long time to settle... she seems really ready to go to sleep but after feeding instead of dropping off she wants to play (and bite, ouch ) Once she's down it's not too bad though (two or three wake-ups very quickly settled) so I shouldn't complain.

Cyteen so sorry this is a hard time of year for you. Somehow that seems particularly cruel. Hope your swim helps you relax and Joe repeats his super sleeping so you can get a more restful night.

to Dizzy and Simnel and everyone else who's having a hard time too. Hope the marvels of modern medicine can help where appropriate. Very glad to hear of your attentive family Sibh!

And good luck with your interview HP.

pertelote · 14/04/2009 10:24

Blimey that took me a long time! Multiple x-post. Hi Sazzles, hi Expectant, again Dizzy, hope your day gets better...

hotcrosspotter · 14/04/2009 11:04

No sign of TS in her wee small hours so fingers crossed you all got some more sleep last night, in fact hope you're snoring now

Yay for Oops Callie and Cyteen on your sleeping babies

Sorry you are feeling bad though Cyteen. Have you heard any more about the bereavement counselling? Hope you enjoy the swim, and if you want to have a good weep while you're doing it no one will ever know.

Simnel you sound really fed up, and it's not surprising. Does DS sleep in the pram during the day? Could you take him out for a mega walk? That old saying of sleep breeding sleep sounds trite but I think it's true, your poor DS sounds so tired that he can't actually get properly to sleep If it is his teeth, are you following Dizzy's instructions?

Expectant sorry you got yourself upset from that stupid programme, yay for your visit back home

SKY hi! Glad to hear you have taken your redundancy in a positive way, must be tricky.

Sazzles you will just have to practice with the eggs in anticipation of next year

Dizzy hope you are still in one piece after Dumbo. on your behalf about the tiles, go give 'em hell. And I really hope they manage to do your tooth today, I know it's been really hurting you

Pertelote hello! Another biter here, it's not funny is it? Although I don't know about yours, my DS will give me the cheekiest smile so I can almost forgive him

Thanks for all your good wishes, it really means a lot . 3.5 hours to go, eek. I will be singing ABC easy as 123 all the way there though. If I do it in the interview do you think I'll get an extra point? Not if you'd ever heard me sing . Better go and get ready...

Expectant · 14/04/2009 12:36

Ooops gladly swap some standing advice for some sleep advice

Knock em dead HP

Phew, I'm back and have finally caught up.

Sorry to hear about some rather fraught houses. 8 months is a looonnngg time to go without a proper night of sleep and worth reminding the chaps of when they're BU or accusing you of it. Hope things improve soon.

You had me giggling too ALBS with the 'hell of holy week'. Hope your hols is good.

Soooo pleased to hear all's well (well, minus the migraines ) sibh. Great to hear that you're being pampered too.

Welcome back dizzy! Glad the hol was such a success and VG was just as fab in person. Sorry you're feeling down now, but hope you pick up soon. Give me a shout if I can help at all.

Best of luck this afternoon hp. Such a bummer to have to re-engage with work when you're on ML but hopefully by teatime you'll be able to immerse yourself (though hopefully not literally) in nappies and finger foods once more.

Sorry to all those I've missed. Belated Happy Easter. Have some crushed (and partially plundered ) Easter Eggs.

longwayfromhome · 14/04/2009 13:10

oh a just a little suggestion if any of you have babies who won't drink water ... have you tried feeding them water from a spoon. Works for DS, as does one of those sports bottle things ... not doing so well with the sippy cup, though.

longwayfromhome · 14/04/2009 13:11

sorry to hear about the pox.

poppysocks · 14/04/2009 13:52

HOw are you and E feeling now sazzles?

Poor O, CC. Has DS1 had chickenpox? We may have it pending as DH's niece has it and nephew seems about to erupt. Obviously don't want them to suffer but it would be so much better for them to get it out of the way now rather than later, or to worry when they're older about them. Apparently 6-12 months is the best time to get it.

DD1's christening went well, but after a stupidly busy weekend we're all cream-crackered. It was a full turn-out from my (large) family so lots of collecting from stations, dropping off here, there and everywhere. Plus godparents to look after too Plus the wedding on Saturday. In the end pulled out of friend's 30th b'day party as realised it would just be a step too far . Anyway, we've made it to the other side and it was all really lovely.

One godparent couldn't make it as he's an opera singer and was in a performance in Germany the night before. However, on Friday I got a call from his bf (who I also lived with at uni) to say that he was coming to the wedding we were going to on Saturday (didn't think he knew the couple but seems he met the groom in Kabul a few years ago and became friends ). Anyway, he agreed to act as a proxy for the absent godparent which made said absent godparent feel better about his absence and it was really nice to have him there.

DD2 was great. Minor grumble at the critical moment and then a smelly nappy meant an exit from the Church just afterwards. DD1 was fantastic through virtually all of it and charmed most of the Church when she was invited to dry her sister's head after the actual baptism. It finally became too much for her though that evening and she had a total meltdown. Still knackered so a fractious day all-round here. Having said that though DD1 now asleep in bed upstairs and DD2 zzzzzing next to me, having tried to hold her off until we returned from dropping DD1 at nursery in the hope that I could slink off to bed too. Oh well.

dizzychixies · 14/04/2009 14:08

poppy glad it all went well, shall we meet up and over analyse it all in the wake of Dylan's!?? what did you choose to wear in the end?

CC Nelsons Tea Tree Antiseptic cream is the BEST THING IN THE WORLD for the pox - tis the only time I advocate use of something other than arnice

dentist tried to give me a row for not being more organised with the appts as she couldn't do mine with all 3 kids in tow - wasn't having any of it and told her SO not my fault. DH has come home from court for an hour lunch break and back in at 2pm before starting his proper 10hr shift at 4pm and had a £65 parking ticket to boot - I made him carry in the Tesco shop as punishment!

I have discovered, via facebook, that a girl I used to live with at Uni has passed away over the weekend we'd lost touch after uni and she'd married and had two wee boys am going to try to stop being such a mardy whingy cow in the wake of that news

dizzychixies · 14/04/2009 14:11

sazz I too feel a bit sorry for DH and bought him a half price egg in Tesco - should perk him up a bit!

got the all clear for my smear test so thats also something to be grateful for and the girls all got a clean bill of health from the dentist too

hotter thank you for your sympathies re Dumbo - it really is a heartwrenching moment in the film thank goodness I managed to miss Watership Down over the holidays, I think I'd need to check myself in somewhere for that one

ladies - positive thoughts for hotter starting in 20minutes

yes very true Sazz, shall lay off the Mr and vent it all towards DH instead

I only heard a few wks ago that my friend had been ill (one of the GPs in my practice is also a girl I was at uni with and she was telling me) so I looked her up on FB and added her only to find out today that she passed on Sat her boys are beautiful but so young, the wee one can't be any older than DD2 am racking my brain as to whether or not to write to her DH

going to be a long day here so easter eggs have been cracked open and Madagascar 2 about to be put on

TwilightSurfer · 14/04/2009 15:50

Poppy good news about the christening.

Dizzy good news about the clean bill of health and dcs' perfect teeth. Sorry about the old friend.

Expectant, Sambo, Pertelote & Cyteen (((HUGS)))

Captain O doesn't sound too ill in his post. I hope he stays that way for the duration.

HP good luck!!

Longway Reese took water out of dd1's old sippy cup yesterday. About drowned actually. I'm still searching for the right cup for her but she doesn't refuse any water she's offered.

Oops I thought Reese could help Poppy but then she crashed to the ground...so nope...no words of wisdom here.

Sazzles sorry you lost the race. LOL Here's hoping Emma continues to take from the bottle.

DD1 at preschool. Reese beside me eating in her highchair. LOADS of paperwork on my desk to sort and TONS of laundry strewn about the house to gather, wash and put away. But here I am MNing. I like being the boss of me.

OH AND GOOD NEWS: I took some of my old jewelry to the jeweler this morning. My NEW custom ring is going to be FREE!! PLUS I have money left over to whatever I want with. I asked if I could keep it as a store credit because I have a few more pieces that I'd like made.

dizzy so sorry to hear about your old friend, that is so sad .
welcome back though, you have been missed glad you had a lovely time and the meet with the gorgeous vg went well.

sazzles was thinking about you yesterday with the egg rolling, sorry you didnt win, but I bet it was a lovely day. Sorry to hear dd2 still not 100% too.
ds not eaten much past few days which is most unusual, however he has upped is bf so not going without.
I am thinking it could be teeth as he has one just through and I spy another.
Also been bitten a few times too.

cyteen hugs to you I can't imagine what your going through, but it sounds as if you have an amazing and supportive dp.

simnel hugs to you too, the sleep deprivation is really bad no matter how many times I say this it just is. I know in this house it creates a lot of bickering and snappish remarks.

poppy so glad to hear that the christening went well, we had a major meltdown from dd2 too, think it was all just too much and she was so tired, I am glad she saved it till we were home though and not in the church.

cc sorry to here poor O has the chicken pox, I hope he is not too bad with it. It is going about round here too.

hotter thinking of you I hope the interview went well.

ts the jewellery sounds great and to your last question no my mum does not have a website yet

Hi expectant that kind of thing worries me too thats why I am reluctant to sleep with ds, although obviously I am not high as a kite IYKWIM.

pertelote Hi how

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/04/2009 16:21

That was supposed to say Hi to pertelote and to anyone who I have missed.

Been for lovely walk today with ds in big silvercross, dd insisted on walking but managed to coax her in the toddler seat for last few minutes as she was holding my leg expecting to be picked up.
Sun still out and she is now tormenting playing with the dog.

Question regarding slings. I am now wanting to try ds in a back carry, as he is into everything and trying to lean out of moby which is difficult when trying to cook etc... I have been watching videos on you tube but I think the shiny panel in my moby d is too slippy as I cant keep it in place under his bum so.......
think I need to buy another??
miamla or anyone any ideas, I was thinking maybe a stripey woven one storch??? thingy
I have a freedom ring sling that I cant get on with and also a peanut shell, which is not really good for my back as its all one sided.
Anyway enough of my waffling

cyteen · 14/04/2009 17:11

I've been thinking about back carries too no1 - Joe hasn't been in the sling for aaaaages as he's just too heavy for the Moby these days, but he does so enjoy being at adult height and nosing at everything so think I need to get a mei tai or similar [spend spend spend] DP will make this face but if I eBay the Wilkinet I can probably get away with it.

LoveBuckets · 14/04/2009 17:18

Dizzy What a nightmare you've had. Do you have any photos of your friend? You could make a little photo album or montage frame for her kids perhaps.

No1 Also coveting the Storchenwiege sling but price puts me off. Here's some cheaper options but I don't like the colours myself, could dye it I guess. I rather fancy a deep purple one.

Another nice day here, DSis took Kurt for a few hours so me and the big 2 could go see autism friendly screening of Bolt, which is really not a bad film. However DH has come home from work though, halved his anti-D dose a month ago and still trying to work out what's normal and what's withdrawal. Albs How are yours doing btw?

I've been letting them off the lead a bit to play on the pavement out the front. It's v sweet, they were washing the car with flannels and cold water til bedtime last night.

Sausageandmash · 14/04/2009 17:31

Just checking into another thread. As usual I've missed about 600 messages on the last but I've decided that rather than beating myself up about it (and, in consequence, waiting later, and later, to post, which just makes me feel more and more out of the Aug 08 loop) I'm going to pop in, let you know that I am thinking of you all and our rather gorgeous children, then pop out.

I have had a rather rubbish few weeks - mega cough leading to vomiting up of food, so weight loss just when we didn't need it (ds is very small, off the scale in fact) and now we've been hit with a v & d bug so more calorie haemorraging (can you tell that I just made a stab at that spelling!) Anyhow, hoping things will be back on the straight and narrow before too long.

Hope you are all well and that I've missed no dramas. If I have, apologies, and hope things are on the up an up.

alittlebitshy · 14/04/2009 18:29

just skimmed on my phone. n ireland great tho ds not keen on travel cot and was up for an hour at 11 last night. dinner for kids now, got to go.

No1 please can I borrow your thorough response from about 4 posts ago?

I did read all the pages, I was composing a response and then little miss demanded some attention and that was about four hours ago.

Mind you she is in bed now and I managed to do most of the -hidying- tidying before she was bathed by turning it into a game. I even stuck on a French language CD and pretended I was also learning something.

Not sure I have much use for;
"avez vous un cigar allemande?"

HCP howditgo howditgo howditgo?

CC poor wee man.

Pretty good day here, though I am knackered as Izzy woke at 5.45 and I had to keep to my end of our bargain.

I hear Mansteak's step on the stairs so best be off. Hope you all have pleasant evenings and sleeping children.
