Stripey i nibble Esme's nails - on the recommendation of my Midwife. She said nearly everyone who uses clippers ends up cutting their LO at one point. Takes time & she wiggles, but keeps them short(er.)Agree there must be a way to teach her not to nip, else everyone would stop at signs of Teeth!! Will Research it.

Lenni yes, perhaps thats where i heard. As i think the reasoning behind it is until 6 months they could be crying through genuine hunger, such as a growth spurt or something. So maybe the move isn't the worst timing after all miss j

MsSparkle Great to hear from you! I put Esme to bed at 7pm (she is 12 weeks) as although it means i have a night time feed of say 3am ish, and then waking at 7am, if i put her to bed later (and i guess she'd sleep through) OH and i would have no time together just us two. i guess its down to personal preference & what works for you & your baby!!

Right, off for Jabs... esme is going to be even less impressed by them as they are slab bang in the middle of her usual lunch time nap!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/04/2009 13:34

rray if they bite, you unlatch them... they soon learn not to bite mummy if they want their yummy milk- I think dd bit me just the once. I think it works better if they learn that early though... as I know 1 or 2 little monkeys who decided it was hilarious to bite mummy for the reaction- when they're around 8mo or so they love getting reactions from you.

MsS ds goes down around 8pm, wakes at 5am for feed, back to sleep until 8am. Except this week when he is wanting to go earlier, so last 2 nights- bed @ 7pm, feeds at 1.30 and 5, up at 8 [grr]

EachPeachPearMum · 21/04/2009 13:36

oh, and we still use scratch mitts for bf and sleep- just easier!

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 21/04/2009 14:08

good luck with injections

i had fun taking dd swimming off to meet mums. my mum is buying dds litles tikes sand and sea table

LenniEd · 21/04/2009 14:50

MsSparkle lovely to hear from you - had been wondering about you lately. Nice to hear that your DS is a settled baby, especially after all of your concerns to how you'd cope. My DS is also a porker - he was 15lb 4ozs about 2 weeks ago and I reckon is probably well over 16lb now.

Stripey - I'd try not to worry about weight gain - they are all so different, those average weight gain ranges are misleading really as by taking the average they automatically make some babies way over and some way under. I don't think they are all that helpful since they psychologically make you aim for 50% which means at least half of parents will worry their baby is not gaining enough. Madness in my book but then I'm not a keen baby weigher.

DS goes up to bed at about 7pm, to give me chance to get him off before DD at 7.30pm. He usually sleeps til somewhere between 3am and 5am and then co-sleeps until about 7am. He'll feed on and off for some of the last couple of hours, grazing really while I doze! Then he has a big feed at 7ish when DD wakes up.

treedelivery · 21/04/2009 15:18

Hello people.

Am currently living through mega colic, mega nappy rach, and mega house work as FIL is here refurbishing sash windows. So you can imagine. 100 years of paint needs scraping so can't stop - miss you all and hope the jabs went ok. Ours were ok, but she is still grumpy. Only a day though - so hopefull be better later today.

Also been back to chiro for her stiff neck - hope it chills her out a bit.

S'all go!

Hello,

stripey in some ways i would love Finley to be smaller, but even though he is a tall baby, he is still cuddly and cute. He is blond with blue eyes! Ahh People are suprised though when i tell them he is only 3 months old!

rrrayray hope the jabs went ok

treedelivery sorry to hear about the colic. My dd had colic and i know how stressful it can get, we took dd to have cranial head massage which i think helped.

When i had Finley weighed yesterday i was told not to let his weight drop because he is such a tall baby! I can't feed him more than he wants to feed so i don't know about that one?

I am of you lot who put your baby down at 7-8pm! Even if Finley woke at 3am for a feed (which he does anyway) i would love to have that time in the evening child free. I know i will eventually, i am finding it hard to get Finley in any sort of routine. With dd it was easy, i could devote the whole day to her needs but this time around, Finley has to go along with whatever.

missjackson · 21/04/2009 17:01

Hi MsSparkle sounds like Finley is doing well, & great that he got thru chicken pox so quickly and easily. Everyone has had it around here too, including my two little nephews but Nye managed to avoid it. I have a tall baby too!

tree busy busy busy! Really don't know how you do it. It's all I can do to cope with one little baby! I barely even get the laundry done (he must have got thru the entire lot of tots bots yesterday - about 18 I think! Pee-Monster)

LenniEd Our LOs have exactly the same sleep pattern! I just wish I could put him down without having to breastfeed him to sleep - as then DH could take a turn!

ray hope jabs went well. I am going to get DH to do the next lot by himself; I felt soooo bad when his little trusting smiling face crumpled up in pain! Sounds like you had a nice time at your parents. I love being at my Mum's as she looks after me so sweetly and is so lovely with Nye. It's been just the best thing having her down the road. Very different with MIL - always leave there feeling slightly stressed out as she somehow manages to subtly criticise me without overtly saying anything... or maybe I am just paranoid!

After being awake so late last night, LO has been overtired all day, but has refused to take a nap... until now. He did 10 minutes at lunchtime and just wouldn't resettle! His mood has veered wildly between happy gurgles and laughing (he's properly laughing now!), and full-on tantrums. He's now been asleep for an hour and it's 5pm - usually I don't let him sleep more than 30 minutes after 3pm, but he's just so tired. But then he won't go down tonight at usual time... vicious circle... am off to wake him up!

rrrayray · 21/04/2009 18:26

missj There is always something about MIL, just not your own mother! My MIL has NO sense of Space and always literally sits on my knee! Had hoped OH would at least be able to come to jabs, but wasnt home from training in time. I think you are right for giving Nye a longer nap this afternoon, as else he wont handle his bath, and also to have a good night sleep he needs to be relaxed. As silly as it sounds, but the nap will actually HELP the sleep tonight, well from my Experience with Esme thats the case our end.

Dog i know, time Flies. one of NCT friends is trying baby rice with her baby today. Seems like yesterday we were all pregnant.

EPPM So you unlatch them with no reaction to the biting at all? Just repeat the unlatching until they get the jist that biting = no milk. Right... got it! Phew! That said, hoping for a while longer with no teeth!

I hadn't even thought of returning to Scratch mits for night time. Does LO still suck hands happily with scratch mits on? Might try that tonight... hopefully no scratches in the morning! woo!

Tink Do both your girls like swimming? Esme is a real water baby, loves baths, and loves the times we have taken her swimming so far. Taking her again with her daddy on sunday.

Esme has been fine Since her jabs, screamed for a minute or two, poor mite, but since has been fine. Fingers crossed we wont have too many problems. Have spent the afternoon in the garden. Bought her a blow up playpool thing from ELC. It is of course for older children, you can put water, or play balls in it, but it has a big leaf thing on it to create shade, so just lay her in it on a blanket to kick, so in the shade. Very cute & she seems to like it!

I'm a little pissed, having made a little slideshow on Mac iphoto... now everytime i try and create a slideshow, the iphoto crashes. Crappy for a brand new comp. Does anyone know if i call Apple? or the Place OH bought the Mac from? He has taken out extra 3 Yr protection... so i should be fine. just a tad annoying! x

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 21/04/2009 19:02

elkiedee · 21/04/2009 19:49

Ray, I don't know much about Apple Macs at all, but Apple has a website and you could look up your computer and see what they say about support there, you might also be able to find support forums there or elsewhere online for iphoto. I've used their support for ipods a couple of times - they send you something to pack it up and return it by special delivery - I think they might have sent a courier to collect as well.

elkiedee · 21/04/2009 19:51

Sorry, my post to Ray was a bit confused as this doesn't sound like a hardware problem that you'll have to send the machine away for.

treedelivery · 21/04/2009 20:13

Hi all

Sorry about the technology Ray - can offer no help what so ever. Am hopeless in fact. Can mumsnet though

Have refurbished dd1 window [nursery window - complete with bars, so cute] but it does need painting. Have chosen white woodwork, with cream windowsils, and that-farrow-and-ball-green for the details. Am delighted to say local paint shop are mixing the colour for me as clearly I can't afford farrow and ball.

Gotta go, Harriet is starving!

rrrayray · 21/04/2009 20:32

Hurrah- it seems to have fixed itself. (Thanks for thoughts though Elkiedee) have made a lovely slide slow of Esme, Bump to 12 weeks, but can't upload it to facebook like had planned! :-( Strange, as friend of mine has uploaded hers (what gave me idea!) Boo!!!!

Tree Glad to hear window all done & paint being mixed! :-)

Tink Centre Parcs will be a lovely place for Bracken's first dip! I've taken Esme swimming 3 times now. There is a lovely baby pool near us, Its brand spanking new (cost 7.5 MILLION apparently, whoa! ) the water is even UV filtered so Chlorine isn't used! She loved it!

Esme gone to sleep as usual fine, and havent heard a peep from her. Have Thermometer & Calpol out ready just incase though!!!

missj Esme laughing too! Soooo cute!

stripeywoollenhat · 21/04/2009 21:33

mssparkle - i am sure finley is adorable and it's good that he's going to be tall.

rray, glad the iphoto thing sorted itself: when i have trouble i just google my query and apple forums, geeks everywhere have been there before me, i always find... hope esme doesn't have a reaction to the jabs (hope that for all you folks with three month jabs - we have two month and four month jabs here, so a few more weeks before we make c cry again)

and now for me, me, me: oh no. i feel disturbingly premenstrual. let's hope it's just some grumpy version of wind... (is that tmi? after pregnancy, i just don't know what's appropriate)

in other news, tried an itti bitti d'lish today - it also didn't leak, and is charmingly soft. am going re-usable...

OP posts:
LenniEd · 21/04/2009 21:59

My premenstrualness has come to nothing there is hope.

Itti's are the way forward - I love them. Esp the chocolate one which makes DS look like tarzan.

Tree - good news on windows... how was the weekend?

Ray - glad computer sorted, must back up my photos, you've reminded me

stripeywoollenhat · 21/04/2009 22:02

lenni - the one i've got is orange (tangerine? clementine? can't remember) but i'm thinking of going a nice, girly fuschia...

OP posts:
missjackson · 21/04/2009 22:07

Maybe I should do itti bitti's for my next size rather than buying a whole new load of tots bots.... how do they compare Lenni?

ray it's always worth checking for software updates (in the menu under the apple sign top left) when programmes start playing up. Esme's pool sounds lovely - yesterday I lay out on a blanket under a tree with Nye, and let him have nappy-free time with the breeze on his little bottom and he just loved it!

The long, late nap worked out well and he has been fast asleep since 7.30pm, leaving me to enjoy a lovely dinner with sister, brother, dad (all visiting, only dad staying over though luckily!) and OH. Pork chops with apple in cider and cream sauce... I now cook by instructing others through the baby monitor as I bf Nye to sleep!

stripey anything goes on this thread I'm sure!

tree love all the F&B colours - windows sound fab!

rrrayray · 21/04/2009 22:07

lenni Am i being dumb.... but how do i back up my photos?

stripeywoollenhat · 21/04/2009 22:36

rray - you might have something called time capsule (you are mac, right?), you can save copies of photos to that. or onto an external hard drive which is what i do, or you could save them on disk, i guess

OP posts:
EachPeachPearMum · 21/04/2009 23:28

Well- DD enjoyed her first day... can't remember anything she did in typical fashion ( I never could either). She seems to have watered flowers at one point
Oh, and she spilled lasagne all down her dress- it is stained orange... we only got 1 dress because it's summer uniform, and she'll only get 12 weeks wear from it... and they are £34 a pop
I am not a happy mama tonight.... 1st day!

stripey my pre-menstrual complaints sound exactly like yours... though not had any so far.

missJ the laughing is gorgeous isn't it- it has completely surprised me... I don't think DD laughed until around 12 mo but DS chortles away- especially at his sister, or if you 'wiggle' his chest.

LenniEd · 22/04/2009 08:47

We use an external hard drive too Ray - that is the best option since if the computer needs repairing for any reason you aren't trusting the person you send it to not to delete any precious files.

I do pork chops the same MissJ - I love the smell of the cider, creme fraiche and apples cooking even though I'm veggie it always smells divine.

EPPM - £34 that is outrageous when there are so many cheaper options in department stores and supermarkets. Really unfair that the school picked such an expensive uniform. I take it you've tried an arsenal of stain removers? Bicarb?

Stripey - yes go for girly ones - they are gorgeous. And will look lovely with C's thick dark hair. She is a stunner isn't she you're going to have trouble when she hits her teens!

Itti's are nowhere near as functional as Tots Bots MissJ and don't last as long on but they are so gorgeous and soft and fluffy... and they are really slim too so don't bulk out clothes like some nappies do.

fymmumoftwo · 22/04/2009 10:13

sorry haven't had time to read up will do later
