spiralqueen sorry to hear that you can't have anymore, a close friend of mine (we met at antenatal classes, her dd and my ds1 are same age) can't have anymore, her dd was result of 10 long years of IVF and the like and I know she finds it incredibly difficult knowing she can't have anymore, she got upset when I told her I was expecting no3 but luckerly I know her well enough to know where she is coming from, she always thought once she had one the feeling of broodiness would go but its still just as strong. For her its not the comments its just that feeling that its totally unfair

Am feeling much better today and making up for the lost calories! dh and I didn't really say much about yesterday morning but he's in essex for a meeting today and has arranged for his mum to help with bathtime (his mum does annoy me so not sure how nice he's being but if you give her a job to do she's great and the boys do love her - only got slightly worried when she said she should be coming over more to help!)think he was just tired and wanted me to tell him it was alright but quite frankly I wasn't in the right frame of mind

arcadie it was only a matter of time....

bt nappy advice needed! been using all in one easyfix popollinis for ds1, got given some bumgenius (about 5) when had ds2 so using them too but doesn't look like all the popollinis (large) will last baby no3, which is rubbish cause I was really hoping they would! what should I get? dh will ONLY use all in ones (appart from night time when its boosted tots bots - people already ommenting they would like to buy something for baby but they don't know what as we have everything (especially if its a boy!) so thinking of asking for a meal for the freezer or a nappy

claireybee · 29/04/2009 16:48

spiralqueen

Insy if your dh will only use one parters then I'd go for more bumgenius I think. I also like the swaddlebees ones but they dont fit such a wide range of babies and I think they only come in sized ones not birth to potty.

Otherwise I have a ton of second hand 2 part nappies I'm going to be selling (in a terrible state though ), or 10 brand new tots organic cotton(my friend had bought them but her baby was early so she wanted to sell them so she could buy some smaller ones. She had no takers so I felt sorry for her and bought them to sell but I'm not having any luck either so my bank account is not happy with me). Don't feel obliged but I just thought I'd let you know

BouncingTurtle · 29/04/2009 17:45

Insy - yes I second pocket nappies, you can have them ready assembled for your DH.
Bumgenius are great, but new V3 are pricey but I think there are plenty of 2nd hand V2 about.
Wonderoos are good too and cheaper than BGs.

Spiralqueen for you.
LOL at your dd though, if ds could choose he'd go naked

claireybee · 29/04/2009 17:50

Don't get old style wonderoos though, they are very, erm, droopy. New ones fit much better

cazzybabs · 29/04/2009 19:39

so ummm it turns out i am pregnant...

i had scan because i was going to have an abortion but it turns out I can't (me i can't)....anyway due 17th dec

claireybee · 29/04/2009 19:45

Wow! Um, congratulations!

How is your dh about it? How are you?

claireybee · 29/04/2009 19:51

God sorry, that sounded awful. I didn't mean it to, just I know it wasn't what you were planning yet.

cazzybabs · 29/04/2009 19:51

I don't think he was really up for a terminaton anyway because he had worked out all the finances and how it was all going to work....

however it looks like my house will never be a castle and I will never have any money...

but I have always wanted 4 and dh said its not like we are going to have any more money in 2 years time...so there it is....

cazzybabs · 29/04/2009 19:53

And, having a biology degree, it should come has no surprise that not taking the pill for a week because I wanted regular periods is not a sensible way to ensure no more children....

BouncingTurtle · 30/04/2009 08:11

Cazzy - must say your dh sounds like a gem
I hope it all goes well for you! Remember we are all here for you if you want to talk.
Big unMNey hug coming your way {{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}

Arcadie · 30/04/2009 08:29

Hey Cazzy! Congratulations. Really hope you and DH get your heads around it all ok. I'm sure from all the stuff you've posted here that you'll be a fantastic super-mum. Any support we can give you - just ask.

buzzybee · 30/04/2009 09:25

Wow cazzy you'll be busy but how amazing to have 4! And another Dec baby too!!!

Insy I have one Bumgenius but I find it gets full very quickly (IYKWIM!) and is on the small side so we won't be able to use much longer. But it does have the nicest feel of all the All-in-ones I have. Personally I'm a big fan of Kushies but only the "classic" for which you also have to use a cover (my fav is the Imse Vimse cover). They're nice a snuggly, dry easily, don't smell and fit DD well.

insywinsyspider · 30/04/2009 10:41

wow cazzy! congratulations, a family of 6, you'll be a real tribe as arcadie said hope you and dh can get your heads round it, have you told family and friends yet or waiting for it to sink in? money worries are always hard but its great dh has been putting together a plan (and what a great time of year to have a baby toby was born 18th dec) all here for you too x

buzzy I love the bumgenius but Toby is getting so big I can't work out if he'll grow out of them soon
bt oh I don't bother putting nappies together for dh, he does that he just doesn't like the faff of two part nappies when out and about and I can't see the point of only using them at home, thanks for offer of 2 part clairey but I really need the all in ones

hope everyone else is doing ok, I've started sleep training Toby again, read baby whisperer and it said that this is common age for sleep problems especially if (a) been ill recently - yes (b) teething recently - yes and (c) big change recently - me going back to work, nursery, moving into ds1's room, diy getting ready for new baby so think its to be expected, am finding it so hard to let him cry but if I go in and stay with him he gets more wound up, hope he gives up soon!

buzzybee · 30/04/2009 10:49

Spiralqueen, DD doesn't actually go so far as to choose what she wants to wear. In fact its more the opposite - I get something out to put on her and she won't let me just wants to carry it around. And she has no concept of too much - she'll keep on trying to grab stuff even when she's got her arms full and then gets frustrated when she drops stuff but still doesn't want me to put it on her!!!

I hear you on the no more children front . In my case I have no biological evidence but I have come to accept that its very unlikely now that I'll have more. I hope you're OK.

claireybee · 30/04/2009 15:46

Buzzy ds does that too, especially with shoes, he picks up as many as he can (doesn't matter whose they are ) and carries them around leaving a trail of them behind him. He's not so bothered about clothes unless it is his sister's and pink in which case he wants to wear it

BouncingTurtle · 30/04/2009 16:52

Arcadie - yes that was me!

Clairey - aww your ds is such a cutie!

My ds is obsessed with shoes, loves carrying his and tried to carry mine and DH's. He tried to put my mules on earlier!!

cazzybabs · 30/04/2009 21:29

bt evie is obsessed with shoes too...everytime she sees some she cries shoo shooo.

today she was so funny she found my mobile and was jabbering away on it going "'ellooo" followed by lots of sounds with pauses in the right places and then would go bye...it was so funny

BouncingTurtle · 01/05/2009 08:33

DS was saying "drink" in the bath last night!

buzzybee · 01/05/2009 09:47

so glad its not just me then! I'm actually looking forward to the phase when you always have to present 2 options and get them to choose to provide the element of choice. At least that will represent a step forwards towards rationality

I finally have my car back, 10 days after it literally broke down and I had to get it towed to the garage. After an OUCH amount of money later I now have a reconditioned air conditioning compressor, new fanbelt and idler pulley...words I never needed to learn.

spiralqueen · 01/05/2009 13:37

Cazzy congratulations and yet another December birthday. Are your other DCs birthdays spread through the year?

Thanks for all your kind messages. DD was a huge surprise to us but having had her it made us start to think that a bigger family was possible and we really wanted a sibling for DD. Trying to focus on how lucky we are to have DD but it's hard at times especially as the wider world think it's about time we had another and keep asking about it. (DH is 35 and people tend to assume that we're the same age and so there wouldn't be any reason for us not to try again)

DD had bad night last night and kept waking up crying. Ended up climbing into the cotbed with her (the advantages of only being 5' tall) and she slept better after being able to snuggle up. Hoping tonight will be better - if only because we're staying at my parents for the weekend and she only has a little cot there.

Have a good bank holiday everyone

Doctorskidaddle · 01/05/2009 16:25

oh my goodness cazzy!!! And congratulations. Hope you both manage to get your heads round it - must be such a shock but also so fantastic.

spiral - to hear you can't have another. I know we should all be grateful to have the child/children we have but it must also be heartbreaking to know you can't have another when you would like one - especially as people might be less understanding of how sad it must be for you.

I have been feeling really down this last week or so. Was worried I might be getting delayed PND but am now wondering if it might be due to stopping BF. I remember clara saying she felt awful when she stopped - has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal and will it be over soon?

BT - love the nappy pics - Daniel looks fab!

insywinsyspider · 01/05/2009 22:06

a very quick one as should be in bed by now - drskid yes stopping bfeeding sends your hormones all over the place (one advantage I found was I did get more energy both times after I stopped) but my PND was at its worst just after I stopped with ds1, I think your body needs a little time to adjust, hope you're doing ok and have a lovely weekend x

buzzybee · 01/05/2009 22:40

DD just brought me a nappy and then about 2 mins later did a poo in the nappy she was wearing [buzzy harbours delusions of potty training before she's 18 months )

Arcadie · 01/05/2009 23:25

Skid I have felt like a hormonal nutter when giving up bf. I cry every time I'm nervous or talking about something emotional. I hope it's hormones or maybe I have PND.... Get it checked but don't worry.
