I'm sorry - I couldn't last out. Welcome to the new thread.

Job wise... not really, it has gone a bit pants tbh.

It will pick up again, it's just it is dead quiet in terms of call volumes, so they don't need as much service, and so there isn't as many agents/calls for me to QA. But what has really got me is the client demanded the termination of the contracts of quite a few agents - citing poor sales performance, but quite a few of the agents are ones who I would say were really good!!

But on the plus side, my BIL's DP had their baby boy last night at home - mum and baby doing well!!

BouncingTurtle · 16/08/2009 07:42

Ooh forgot to say, DS's new bed (a divan with a slide store, can fit loads of stuff under there!) on Wednesday.

So far he has taken to sleeping in it okay, he still wakes during the night and either DH and I will go and lie down with him, occasionally falling asleep in their ourselves

But on the whole he is much happier sleeping in the bed. It is a bit high for him to climb up and down, so I shoved my Ikea Poang footstool against the end of the bed and he uses that to get up and down. He is so cute, the way he gets in and he'll lie down and pull his sheet over himself! We just have the duvet cover on the bed, as it is too hot for a duvet as well, and that seems fine.

Hi Skid. Lot to say for yourself today!

cazzybabs · 17/08/2009 22:36

skid

didn't do much today..ate and lazed around the house...am getting worried about how fast the summer is going..don't wantto go back to work.

that is the downside to super long holidays - the return to work is soo much worse

claireybee · 18/08/2009 15:39

In total agreement skid

I am very short tempered today, I think it is PMT. claireybee raging against the world

becklespeckle · 18/08/2009 15:47

Cazzy, Evie likes holding the lead on her backpack too, thankfully she likes to share it . Mind you, she was so excited to be out of the buggy/carseat have new places to run about in while we were away, she was quite happy with it on! Summer is going fast isn't it, think positively though as hopefully you'll get a nice stretch of maternity leave next year...

Clairey, have your boobs settled down yet? I don't remember mine aching for more than a few days after stopping feeding.

Hi Arcadie! Skid??? BT, glad Daniel is liking his bed! I often used to spend nights in with the DSs if they woke in the night, lovely and snuggly! Hope the hassles at work sort themselves out soon.

Took the DSs into town today to get all the stationery stuff DS1 needs for middle school - OMG I spent over £46! (I did get conned into a pencil case, rubber and pencils for DS2 and I got stickers and a book to stick them in for DD but still...) When I said "Ouch" the young lad behind the counter gave me 20% off - apparently they've had a promotion going on but I didn't have a voucher but he gave me the discount anyway.

becklespeckle · 18/08/2009 15:48

Not sure where all those extra *s came from, they definitely weren't on my original message!

Doctorskidaddle · 18/08/2009 21:17

ahem sorry about that random fullstop - do not know what happened there

Have my 12 week (at 14 weeks) scan tomorrow - I look about 5 months pg so I reckon they will try to give me an anomaly scan! Have had to tell everyone because of the size of my bump so am really hoping all goes well - DH thinks it's twins , please no, I couldn't bear it! My friend who was almost exactly at the same stage of pg as me has just lost her baby as well so it all feels very bittersweet

beckle - to make you feel better about your £46, my friend has just spent £250 on her son's school uniform fo next year!! Mind you he is going to a posh private chorister school so he probably nees special singing gowns or something!

BT - glad he likes his bed, makes me want to get one for Milo but I couldn't bear the stress of knowing he was free to move around all night!

DS has just learned to say thank you - oh it is so lovely after weeks of his not-very-exquisite table manners - shouting MORE MORE MORE and then grabbing it off you, or if he doesn't want it, shouting NO NO NO and chucking it on the floor

clairey - how are the boobs? Mine stopped hurting after a few days but I stopped very very slowly. If they are really sore still I would just express a bit. How are you feeling about stopping? Completely relieved or a tiny bit regretful? Oh just thought, it is probably stopping that accounts for your bad mood - I felt like I was becoming depressed when I stopped - seriously down and weepy plus sudden mood swings - stopped after a couple of weeks but was horrid.

spiralqueen · 18/08/2009 22:47

Hi all- back from hols and trying to catch up. Have posted some holiday pics on my MN profile.

Can thoroughly recommend the purchase of a seat back DVD. DD watched it happily during our many hours of travelling. She did insist on only having Boogie Beebies playing so we are pretty much word perfect on all the songs now

BT sorry to hear it's pants at work. Is it likely to improve anytime soon?

Congrats Arcadie great news

Back to catching up....

claireybee · 19/08/2009 10:51

at possible twins skid can I have one? Am sure it is just third pregnancy lax stomach muscles or something...

SQ Glad you had a good holiday, I bet you still have all those songs going round in your head

Boobs are much better now thanks, ds is still trying his luck several times a day

claireybee · 19/08/2009 10:55

Lovely pics too SQ, she is gorgeous (and very grown up looking)

Doctorskidaddle · 19/08/2009 14:49

Not twins, sorry clairey - I would definitely have given you one if it had been!

SQ - lovely pics - can't BELIEVE she is only the same age as my DS, she looks about 3!! Glad you had a nice time

claireybee · 19/08/2009 16:45

Oh dammit, I was ready to get contracts drawn up and everything

Was the baby nice and wriggly for you on the scan?

Arcadie · 19/08/2009 20:28

Hey ladies, just popping on to bear bad news ( mostly because DH is out) you might remember a while back I mentioned about a friend with ovarian cancer. Well she lost a (relatively) short fight with it today and leaves a 6 yr old and 3 yr old boy and a husband who is reeling. I'm really grateful that she's at peace, I know she was a Christian and will be up in heaven teaching Jesus all about washable nappies as we speak but I am just GUTTED for her family. Feeling it particularly as we went through pregnancy together with her 2nd and my 1st and I just cannot imagine having to leave my LOs.

Sorry for being very maudlin but it's been one of those days where real life just bites you on the bum and reminds you how GOOD you have it and how CRAP other people do.

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 19/08/2009 22:40

oh Arcade - i am so sorry...I will pray for the family...it is so hard but children that little will cope and adapt

we have a similar suitation in our family - my uncle has bowel, liver, bladder, lung cancer - he will leave behind a 16 and a 18 year old.

cazzybabs · 19/08/2009 22:42

oh blow that came out all wrong and looks very self-centered...

what I should have said was

Arcade

am thinking of you and that family - hope you are OK

BouncingTurtle · 20/08/2009 08:31

Oh Arcadie, that is soooo sad.

Yes I agree your friend is with Jesus now, and God has people like you to help look after the family she has left behind. Her poor DH and DCs, will pray for them

Arcadie · 20/08/2009 09:35

Cazzybabs not at all self-centred. Seems everyone has someone they know who's going to go "before their time." Just not fair.

BT Thanks for your thoughts. I'm so glad she's at peace now.

claireybee · 20/08/2009 15:20

Oh Arcadie so sorry to hear about your friend . Thinking of her family...

spiralqueen · 20/08/2009 19:50

Arcadie that is terribly sad, so sorry for you and especially her family.

As you say everyone knows of this kind of thing happening. One of our neighbours died kast weekend - massive heart attack whilst sat next to his wife. She is terminally ill with bone cancer and they are expecting their 1st grandchild. Daughter now faced with the prospect of both parents dying during her pregnancy. So sad.

spiralqueen · 20/08/2009 20:05

Thanks everyone for all the compliments - glad to know it's not just us that think she looks grownup. Perhaps we got so tired that we overslept (if only) and woke up a year later - which might explain a lot.

I seem to remember before we went away several of you brave ladies were thinking about toilet training your LOs. Did you and if so how's it going?

claraquack · 21/08/2009 01:34

Hi just a real quick one from me as I have so much catching up to do on the internet (eg what's happening in EastEnders ) . Arcadie - happy to hear your pregnancy is going well, but very sorry to hear about your friend. Skid - hope the scan was good, can't believe you're at 14 weeks already! Everyone else, hi!

We're here in St Lucia, it's very beautiful but very very very hot and sweaty. Dh started work properly so now I am trying to find ways to entertain the girls with not very many places to go and we don't know anyone! still, (pre)school starts in just over a week's time and dd2 is going to do a few mornings - I can't decide between two or three - in the toddler section. I will try and attach some pics - I can't put them on FB now for security reasons....

Doctorskidaddle · 21/08/2009 11:57

arcadie - that is heartbreakingly awful. Those poor little children, and of course her husband, I am also thinking of them

clara - hello [far away wave] can't believe you're there already. I would def go for three mornings - you need time to explore a bit and get to know people (and of course sunbathe)!

SQ - we started potty training at about this stage with DD (now nearly 4) and it was fine because she had really good language (and awareness of when she needed to go etc) so could deal very well with it. I wouldn;t consider starting with DS yet but because your DD is so grown up and has good language skills you might as well give it a go

clairey - the baby was sucking his/her thumb during the scan - very cute. DD has taken the scan pics in to show everyone at nursery today - she is SOOOO excited and tells the baby throught my belly that she loves it several times a day

claireybee · 21/08/2009 13:18

Aw how cute Hopefully that means s/he'll be able to find the thumb post birth too and be a self settler.

DS has had his nappy off quite a bit this week due to teething nappy rash. Lots of wees everywhere and a big poo on conservatory floor yesterday. He will sit and play on the potty but won't do anything in it and when I put it under him to catch a wee he was doing he shouted no and picked it up and threw it across the room . Good job I'm so used to cleaning wee off the carpet really...

Clara good to hear from you, I bet you acclimatise to the heat soon. When we were in botswana last year I had two toy cars, a colouring book and a couple of pieces of lego with which to entertain the dc. Luckily they were very happy to scratch in the dirt with a stick and splash in a bowl of water
