I'm sorry - I couldn't last out. Welcome to the new thread.

Clary sage
Hot baths
Hot curry
Hot sex ;)

Keep us posted! Sending you happy labour vibes!

buzzybee · 15/06/2009 09:42

Insy well this may seem batty but I drove down to local supermarket, did some shopping and then filled the car with petrol in the early stages - anything to keep moving.
What really set things off though was trying to take a bath - I was in there all of 2 mins before I decided driving to hospital was a much better idea (didn't drive myslef that time though!)

Good luck and we all await the fab news eagerly

Massive congrats Skid. Personally I couldn't conceive of putting my ageing body through the trauma again but hats off to you!

Mind you DD is just soooo gorgeous at the moment I could eat her up so I can definitely see how you'd more of the same

claraquack · 15/06/2009 10:44

Buzzy - I'm the opposite, dd2 is such a nightmare at the moment (not helped by a bad case of conjunctivitis which may possibly be causing all these bad tantrums!), I can't imagine EVER wanting another baby - especially one which goes on to become a toddler...

Insy - good luck! Can't wait to hear. Have no advice as have never been in labour. Waited until 10 days over due date with dd2 and naught but a few braxton hicks. I think they come when they are ready. Or not in my case.....

Arcadie · 15/06/2009 13:35

Insy It's your body revving up. It will all kick off soon I'm sure.

oooh insy - how exciting!!!! Keep us posted - sounds like a bit of nipple stimulation might be in order? Awful and tedious but about as effective as anything - GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

insywinsyspider · 15/06/2009 18:49

still waiting, body is doing something but now feels like it could be warming up to it for days!
beckle how did your 3 labours compare? ds2 was 6 hours, I was kind of hoping for the same, this one seems like ds1's, days to get going

Doctorskidaddle · 15/06/2009 21:25

how frustrating insy I don't think I've ever heard of a 3rd slow labour but I suppose they must happen! With DS I had about 24 hours of stopping and starting and then when it properly started it was really quick. Keep us updated - am v. excited for you (and hoping for a girl just a tiny bit!)!!

clara - well it was sort of planned in that we decided to start trying but after one go, I had a complete panic and decided I wasn't ready and wouldn't be able to cope so we stopped. But lo and behold, it only takes one time so here I am. I suppose I will cope because I'll have to but am feeling very scared. Just keep trying to think of all the lovely years in the future (when they have stopped having tantrums, can wipe their own bums, and lie in until noon everyday...)

Also sympathies re ill and tantrumming DD2 - like Buzzy I also like this age but when they have a bad day it can be unbearable, can't it? Hope she is feeling a bit better and you can offload her on your DH and have a break

clairey - I don't know why but I felt really funny telling you I was pg (even considered telling you first through fb!!!) - bizarre given that I've never even met you but knowing people in RL with fertility problems (not your case I know) I know it can be awful learning of yet ANOTHER pregnancy when you really really want a baby. Anyway thank you for not begrudging me!! And at least now you can stop stalking me on the ttc threads

Have joined a new antenatal thread but don't feel right about it - Dec 2007 is my antenatal thread not Feb 2010 - there are all these names I don't know there instead of you lot [scaredycat emotion]

insywinsyspider · 15/06/2009 21:40

lol skid I felt like that about joining the June 09 antenatal thread, the hardest thing is at first there are just so many people and if you don't look every day you lose the jist of conversation. It is lovely now tho, babies arriving every day

I hope this lo is quick when it arrives, am convinced its a boy but still have a little hope that it might be a girl just to supprise us although I just can't imagine being a mum to a girl as I'm so used to my boys

am excited about you being pregnant, my friend has just told me she's expecting no4 - crazy girl

buzzybee · 16/06/2009 10:30

Sorry to hear that Clara, must be very hard.

The big news here is Swine Flu as they are closing down schools and childcare centres if any kids or tecahers get it. Only 100 case in NZ so far but they estimate in Australia that 1/3 of the pop of the State of Victoria have it already! Triple trouble for me as have DD1 at school, DD2 in childcare plus own a childcare centre!! The big issue for NZ is that we're entering prime flu season so virtually impossible to tell apart from ordinary flu. Our local hospital has opened a segregated Swine Flu clinic where you can go if you think you have it to avoid infecting others which seems a good idea.

In fact I did go to the doc today - and she has given me a referral for a blood screening test for Coeliacs. I do feel a lot better for having gone almost gluten-free (those pesky stomach cramps have almost stopped completely) but the thought of a Coeliacs diagnosis really scares me as you have to drop loads more foods (e.g. oats as well as wheat). Fingers crossed it won't come back as high risk!

claraquack · 16/06/2009 14:13

Buzzy - good luck with the blood test, hopefully you will at least know if this is what has been causing the stomach cramps. I get a lot of stomach pains but pretty sure it is stress-related IBS as it comes and goes and seems to come when I am most under pressure.

You will be glad to know that dd2 is MUCH better and her behaviour is also much, much improved. I still don't want another baby but it is fabulous to have my normal good-tempered child back and not the toddler from hell.

Buzzy - it will be interesting to hear how the swine flu pans out as there are a lot of fears it will get much worse here in the Autumn. Not that that should effect us as we will be living it up on s tropical island by then

Skid - I am going to go and see what you are saying about us all on the Feb 2010 thread....

insywinsyspider · 16/06/2009 20:22

hi all - baby boy no3 arrived 7am this morning, v quick home birth for me, woke up at 2.30am with strong contractions, waters broke 3am and baby here at 7am, 8lb 5oz and we've called him Bear

claraquack · 17/06/2009 06:54

Congratulations Insy! Wow, what a great birth (by the sounds of it). Not sure if you planned a home birth or not but it sounds great.

Looking forward to seeing some pics when you have a chance.

Our first Dec 07 baby no 2 (if that makes sense!)

Doctorskidaddle · 17/06/2009 10:09

claireybee · 17/06/2009 10:33

HOORAY!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS INSY! Wow, I can't believe you have 3 now. Look forward to seeing pics and hearing more (after you have rested, babymooned etc of course)

DS said 'love you daddy' this morning

Aw skid, aren't you lovely? Thanks for thinking of me I don't think I am quite at that stage yet...I still have some hope he will change his mind I suppose

But do I really have to stop stalking you??? I mean, I was planning a trip to oxford to sit outside your house and everything...

(are you scared yet??)

I can imagine it being v wierd to post on another antenatal thread, just don't abandon us for them!

cazzybabs · 17/06/2009 12:06

(Skid - please don't read)

I am no loner pregnant - starting bleeding on Saturday..saw the midwife yeserday and she found a heartbeat and booked me all in, but today it chnaged to bright red and i have definatly passed something...15 weeks today I thought i was safe...

becklespeckle · 17/06/2009 12:51

Cazzy so so for you, I lost my first at 15 weeks, its very hard when you think you're 'safe'. Are you going to get yourself checked out to make sure? I passed lots and lots of bright red blood when having DS1 and all was well. Probably not supposed to on here but here's a HUGE hug x

cazzybabs · 17/06/2009 12:54

thanks,,, i am off to the fetal medicine place..but there was so much bloodd (still is) i am not hopeful

Arcadie · 17/06/2009 12:55

Insy yyyyaaaaayyyyyyy! Welcome to the world Bear!

Cazzy Just saw your facebook status and came straight on. sob hug blub Skid All good vibes and prayers.

OP posts:
claireybee · 17/06/2009 12:56

Oh Cazzy, so so sorry for you . Big unmumsnetty hugs for you xx

becklespeckle · 17/06/2009 13:00

Clara, DD does tantrum too when she doesn't get her way. She screamed all the way home from town a few weeks back (about a mile) because I wouldn't let her walk. I wouldn't let her walk because she kept letting go of my hand and running off backwards! She can be a madam with the car seat and pushchair if she is not in the mood to be in it too.

Spiral, bless your DD "tooth hurty" . Hope she's okay now. Sounds like your trip to France could be a challenging one but I'm sure you'll have a fab time

Buzzy, when do you get the results for your bloodtests? Will keep fingers crossed for you. All this swine flu stuff is a bit of a nightmare, it terrifies me.

Insy, congratulations! Bear is a fantastic name, I love it! Can't wait to see pics of him! Lucky you to have him at home Bit late I know but my 3rd labour was a real non-starter, braxton hicks for weeks and everytime they got bad they'd stop - I was induced in the end (at 40+12)although the actual labour once started was much quicker than the first 2.

Skid, congrats to you too! Like you I had the same panic after starting to try for DD, glad I stuck it out though, she's fantastic! Children always misbehave when you most want them to impress, I'm sure that any of your colleagues who have children will not judge your DD, you can't tell a child's personality from one meeting.

It is DS1's 9th birthday today... how did that happen?! I don't feel responsible old enough to have a 9 year old!

becklespeckle · 17/06/2009 13:01

Cazzy, let us know how you get on. FWIW there was loads of red blood when I bled with DS1 - and it happened 3 or 4 times I think, fingers crossed x

becklespeckle · 17/06/2009 13:03

Had some really sad news today and I kind of can't stop thinking about it. A little boy drowned in the river near me last night, he was only 6 , I used to work with his Dad and know his Mum quite well too. I just feel so so sad for them.

becklespeckle · 17/06/2009 13:07

Just seen there is a thread about it on here

sorry for posting so much, will go and do something constructive now.

spiralqueen · 17/06/2009 13:10

Insy Congratulations! Hope you and Bear are doing well. Are the boys happy with another brother? You're definitely outnumbered now!

Cazzy So sorry to hear your news [hugs]. Hope you're getting plenty of support in RL.

DD had major conversation with me this morning about "poo" and "wee" but those were pretty much the only words I understood. She was determined to tell me something but it wasn't a warning that she was about to do either or that she'd done something. Heaven knows what was on her mind...

Doctorskidaddle · 17/06/2009 13:17

oh cazzy I'm so sorry. I can't believe this is happening at 15 weeks . I really really hope beckle is right and that it is not what you think. I also know of plenty of people who have bled and been fine but obviously only you know the extent of it. So sorry, thinking of you xx
