I'm sorry - I couldn't last out. Welcome to the new thread.

how lovely BT - we were also doing ring a roses today - they must be at that age!

thank you clairey and insy for your kind offers! I have sent you my address on fb clairey and will try and CAT you insy - or else do it via fb - if I can remember your real name! (Does it begin with M? - if so I think I know!)

cazzy - hope MMR was OK. The autism thing is completely spurious but I think a lot of them do feel very poorly afterwards with all those nasty viruses injected into them . Hope Evie is lucky and feels fine (have a load of terries but have never got the hang of them [inadequate emotion])

Doctorskidaddle · 29/05/2009 21:31

how lovely to have them back insy! I remember that awful overheated pg feeling too. Have sent you my address via fb - thank you Isn't MN great?!

insywinsyspider · 29/05/2009 21:36

hey skid - sent you a message back dc3 was meant to be another winter baby and now I remember why! although at least if it is a hot summer I can throw boys out in garden to run off some excess energy

cazzybabs · 29/05/2009 21:41

Insy ... I don't like it too hot either...today was just about perfect...any hotter and I am not a happy bunny.

MMR seemed to go alright

Evie too loves ring a ring a roses

buzzybee · 30/05/2009 09:58

Snow forecast here tomorrow!! Well maybe not in Wellington city but in the surrounding hills. Mt Hutt skifield opened today, the first time in 15 years its opened as early as May.

Very sad today to say farewell to dear friends who are permanently moving to Sweden of all places. They say they can't see themselves visiting NZ any time in the next 5 years at least and I can't really see me getting to Sweden any time soon either

On a more positive note a friend of my Mum's has knitted DD2 a really lovely cardigan

cazzybabs · 30/05/2009 10:01

Buzzy one of my best friends (infacy probably one of only friends) moved to Sweden so you have my sympathy...I always think of Sweden a bit like NZ - apart from a bit cooler (n terms of design) because both are outdoor sportey and naturery

god I wish it would snow here

insywinsyspider · 30/05/2009 20:01

me too cazzy! snow would be lovely...

BouncingTurtle · 31/05/2009 08:43

I am loving the hot weather, sorry!!

I started training for my new role on Friday, it is pretty intense.

One good thing is that I really can select when I want to work! Where as before I had to choose from the available slots, and had to start posting the second the schedule was released as there are limited amounts of slots available, so am competing with the other ACPs to get the slots I want!
Now there is the slots that are available are mine and mine only I can choose to post whatever slots I want to work - though there is a minimum & max number of hours.
It is going to be hard work I think, and I have productivity targets! Am feeling nervous as to whether I am really up to the job, but will find out when I start I guess!

cazzybabs · 31/05/2009 21:35

BT - they wouldn't have given you the job if you weren't up to it.

Good luck - when do you start?

cazzybabs · 31/05/2009 21:36

Doh - friday...god I am thick

BouncingTurtle · 01/06/2009 06:50

No not at all, Cazzy - I don't actually know when I start the job proper, as yet I haven't received my statement of work and until that is done and signed, I can't start.

SuperWasher · 01/06/2009 13:58

Skid I got your message today . I'll post them tomorrow, am going to be lazy now as ds hasn't slept for about 3 nights and I have already been to the supermarket and he has already had his nap for the day and...[pathetic]

I love the sun too, I'm always the last to remove layers and it's actually been warm enough for me to wear dresses/sleeveless tops which rarely happens in England! Feel sorry for those of you that don't enjoy it though, especially the pregnant ones

we went here yesterday, the dc loved it!

spiralqueen · 01/06/2009 14:29

Hi all - back from trip away. In our absence DD has learnt how to escape from the travel cot at the in-laws. Mind you she has been getting out and putting herself in a proper bed (and is really pleased with herself) rather than getting up to mischief.

Getting quite worried about leaving her with the inlaws in future though. Although she loves being there and they love having her, they don't seem to be able to get their heads round making it safe for her. Despite her escaping the cot they'd left her in the bedroom with the window open (opening from the bottom outwards) because of the hot weather.

They also don't do anything to remove the cleaning chemicals from the bathroom floor/under the kitchen sink when she's there and are very hit and miss with the stairgate. When I asked them not to leave windows open that she could get to they couldn't see what the problem was and clearly thought I was being neurotic. DH agrees but didn't want to raise it with them at the time.

Sorry - bit of a rant

claraquack · 02/06/2009 08:52

Clairey (sorry, I can't call you superwasher!) what a shame we didn't coordinate - we're of to Slimbridge today! My two love WellyBoot Land and it seems a shame not to make the most of this weather. We have annual membership so it's "free" too! Plus, I love their cafe....

SQ - I would be really firm and put my foot down if I were you. You're not being neurotic, it's so important to make sure things are safe. In particular with the window. In fact if that was me, I would have 2nd thoughts about leaving my dc's with them.

SuperWasher · 02/06/2009 13:37

Oh Clara what a shame! Next time either of us goes we must let the other know. We didn't go into wellyboot land, we didn't know about it (my parents had been years ago when it was all mud tracks and no play areas) and didn't have a swim nappy for ds plus it was completely mad in there-last day of half term and a hot day etc. Luckily dd was easily distracted by a swan on the other side of the path so we got past it without too much trouble

Spiralqueen not neurotic at all. When dd was born we lived at my parents' house and it was a bloody nightmare, pet food and cleaning stuff all within reach, no stairgates (my mum didn't want me to ruin the aesthetics of her house), sharp blades in a bottom drawer... I still go cold when I remember the day dd was playing near me up on the top floor (crawling age) and my dad had opened the (floor to ceiling) sash window to air his washing-she could so easily have just crawled out of the window.

SuperWasher · 02/06/2009 13:42

ps clairey is fine, I don't know who people ae refering to when they say superwasher (I was also called SW on another thread and it majorly confused me!)

suey2 · 03/06/2009 10:56

morning all,
A little cooler here today- boo hoo!
Nothing much to add- although the person whose mate said their child has 700 words must be talking complete balls! Millie has about 5 words reliably. (unless you count animal sounds!)

Other peoples houses are a nightmare- i dont blame you SQ for being pissed off. I agree with what everyone else has said. They just don't get it.

becklespeckle · 03/06/2009 12:48

Cazzy, how is your Evie after her MMR? My Evie had hers Friday too and after all my panic she would be really poorly she has (touch wood) been pretty okay. A little stroppier than usual and slightly off her food but other than that okay... hopefully she won't get all grotty at 10 days post-injection (fingers crossed). I don't worry too much about the MMR/Autism link though, not sure I believe in it to be fair! The only reason DD was delayed so long was that I wanted her in perfect health before having it, especially as she was so so ill after her 1 year injection.

Hi Suey! Glad to hear you are doing well although not about your business , times are not good at the moment and so many people are affected by the credit crunch. Isn't ITNG fab?! DD has just become interested in it, previously she would ignore the television but she loves to sit and watch ITNG and dance to the music! Yesterday she was blowing kisses like Upsy Daisy!

Clairey, Slimbridge looks fab, wish it was closer to me!

SpiralQueen, I totally agree with you on the window thing, DD's bedroom window opens from the bottom and I won't leave it open through the night in case I end up with her in my bed, she climbs out without me noticing and ends up falling out of it. There is a bed under it which doesn't help my panic although that will be moved to where the cot is now when she is ready for it. In your position I would not be able to relax if she was at the ILs without me to keep an eye on her.

What you said about knives in a bottom drawer Clairey . I was at a friend's at the weekend and they have drawers which are magnetically shut (or somesuch) making them difficult to open - not for DD, she held on to the eye-level one and leaned backward (over their rough-tiled floor). Lo and behold the drawer was full of sharp knives! I was a bit as her youngest DC is only 3 months older than DD!

SuperWasher · 03/06/2009 15:21

It was still sunny this morning but is clouding over now . Very humid though. DS dove head first into the paddling pool (he calls it baff inna darden ) with all his clothes on this morning and thought it was so funny that he has been doing it again and again all day.

Am tyring to cut down on bf but he seems to want it more than ever...any tips?

buzzybee · 04/06/2009 10:16

I have to laugh at all DD's attempts at copying words. Maisy = Maimy, rabbit = babby etc Completely incomprehensible unless you know exactly what she's looking at or mimicing

Very hard frost here today!

BouncingTurtle · 04/06/2009 15:26

It's gone very cold here!!
Daniel said "garden", least I think so,he had his "duddy" in his mouth! but he was pointing to the garden. It was when I was taking him back downstairs after changing his nappy, he was all grumpy having just woken up from a 2.5 hour nap, and then he looked out of the window and said "garden"!

cazzybabs · 04/06/2009 21:08

well i was quite proud of evie having somwehere between 20-30 words...

she was fine after her MMR thanks,,,no temperture, ill effects - athough it was put dd2 off her pre-school jabs!!!

I am so glad it is a bit cooler. Evie seems to be going off BF - she just wants t deink lots of water.

buzzybee · 05/06/2009 11:25

My favourite is when I say 1,2,3 she says "go!" I'm pretty sure that one comes from her creche.

I also love the way she takes her favourite tiger toy, holds it out to our cat and says "rahhh!"

The thing I find interesting at the moment is that kids about our DC's ages are converging in ability. So those that walked early have now largely been caught up with by later walkers, most have 20ish words (with some notable exceptions!), their personalities are becoming really clear, they respond to music and books etc

Poor DD2 has a bit of a nasty cough at the moment. I hear her coughing in the night and hope its not making her too tired during the day. My Mum picked her up from creche tonight brought her home and suddenly noticed she'd fallen asleep on the sofa - sitting up!

becklespeckle · 05/06/2009 13:31

Glayd your Evie was fine after her MMR Cazzy, mine is still doing well (touch wood again) and I'm relieved its out of the way now!

Buzzy, I find that interesting too, I think children tend to converge in ability at around 3 too, my boys were certainly very different at 18 months but at 3 there was little difference. Poor DD with her cough, hope it clears up soon.

Evie does make me giggle with her little character though, I was in the kitchen earlier and she was just playing in the lounge when Paul Potts started singing on the TV... she came into the kitchen 'singing' along in a mock tenor voice complete with opera arms! Hahahaha! So funny and cute!
