I'm sorry - I couldn't last out. Welcome to the new thread.

Very rude man Buzzy, but I have to say I have frequently been left cringing as dh boasts about the dc to other people - it's especially bad when he and other men are together, they seem to get into competitive dad mode.

Skid DD's party was great, no bbq because we have had torential rain each year on her bday from the day she was born but we had some more friends come down on sunday and had a bbq then. I am just going to be very smug now and tell you that despite sitting in the garden all day on sunday I avoided sunburn . Am sure with your skin it will turn brown though, unlike me with my ginger tendancies who goes pink then white.

Am because on saturday some ignorant twunt taught ds to say bitty so now whenever he wants milk he says bitty (when before he was saying boobies or milk). It makes me feel a bit icky but I am just saying boob when he says it and hoping he will forget No idea who it was either so can't even yell at them.

RE spoon feeding ds will only do it himself (no surprise there!). He also pulls off bibs and is pretty messy. Just as well I quite enjoy doing washing!

claraquack · 26/05/2009 12:49

Clairey - I usually find children forget words very quickly that aren't repeated to them so hopefully this will soon be a distant memory for you. I remember dd1 learning to say "shit" just about three weeks after dd2 was born and I was non-stop stressed trying to get them both into car seats etc - hence "shit shit shit" as the best way for me to control my temper. I pulled myself up, stopped swearing in front of her and she's not said it since.

I'm sure once they start school it will all go downhill though.....

Buzzy - it's payback time, I remember you talking about your lovely summer days and lounging around in shorts etc as we were suffering in minus temperatures

Doctorskidaddle · 27/05/2009 09:14

and at the person that taught your DS to say bitty, clairey. Who was this person? I would be absolutely raging. What an ignorant small minded tw*t . I agree that just saying boob instead and trying not to react in any way when he says bitty is the best way to stop it. Poor you

DD had a phase of singing, 'heads, shoulders, willy and fanny, willy and fanny' at the top of her voice walking down the road. I was mortified and I think she immediately picked up on my embarrassment and did it more. So I tried to be nonchalant about it and crossed fingers, she hasn't done it since! (Her humour has now hit further depths of 'wee wee poo poo in my eye' - Sooo sophisticated )

buzzy - DS loves music atm too! He will dance to ANYTHING - music, but also passing fire engines (with sirens on), the hoover, and the wahing machine. It is so hilarious watching him boogie on down to background humming!

buzzy - I agree that

Doctorskidaddle · 27/05/2009 11:04

btw clairey can you give me some professional advice re cloth nappies?! DS is out of size 2 nappies and need to get some more. Was thinking of bumgenius - would you reccommend them? Would you get the one-size ones or the all-in-one (cheaper) ones? Thank you!

Arcadie · 27/05/2009 13:33

drskid ROFFLE at new version of Heads Shoulders. Think I might teach that to my toddler group.

and fwiw my superchum uses bumgenius and loves them.

LOL skid, I think I'd get on well with your dd, we have the same level of humour

When I was about 10 I started singing "a piece of t*t,a piece of t*t" to the tune of a pizza hut...hadn't a clue what it meant but remember my dad being v embarrased when he was explaining why it wasn't a good song choice!

RE bumgenius, yep they are good (think BT uses them?) but they are a bit tricky to get hold of at the moment. I think they've recently got a lot more popular and the wholesalers are having problems keeping up. What are you using now? I didn't find they were able to last as long as a shaped and separate wrap but as you know I am a lazy changer.

SuperWasher · 27/05/2009 15:21

oh tis Clairey

SuperWasher · 27/05/2009 15:23

When did Caz last post? Seems like ages since she was on

cazzybabs · 27/05/2009 15:24

hello - I have finally got Evie her MMR on Friday - I am sure when I get there they will say oh you still need to havr this injection...it is happened 3 times now...still hey ho!

Am supposed to be writing reports - yawn yawn yawn...I have 2 tutor ones left (where I say nice things about the children) and then am left with maths and english...ahhhhh I HATE HALF-TERM.

I am completely exhasted, but have stopped feeling so sick!

suey2 · 27/05/2009 15:50

hello all,
It's been ages! RL sort of caught up for a bit and no time to MN.
I have tried to catch up, but there has been a serious amount of gossiping!

Millie is just brilliant. What a brilliant stage! Not that many words: key, shoe, knee, Rosa (our cleaner), trousers and she can moo and neigh. Lots of dancing here too- and an obsession with in the night garden which we watch on the wind down to bedtime.

BouncingTurtle · 27/05/2009 16:07

Hello Suey2! Glad to hear from you, hope you are okay, I think we were a little concerned due to your PND diagnosis so are glad to hear you are okay if busy!

Yes I too use BGs, Clairey. I love them but I will say they are probably more suited to the small babies & toddlers, I think you would struggle to fit them on a really chunky toddler.

suey2 · 27/05/2009 16:36

yep, the PND was just rubbish. I stopped the ADs mid january and probably took another month to feel totally ok. It still makes me shudder when i remember the horrible thoughts i was having, but am now really enjoying being a mum.

Just as well, as the business is going tits up with the recession and all. Also, BUPA have put continued recognition out to blind tender. I am waiting to hear if we will still be recognised, because if we are not, the business will close down at the end of the year when my lease runs out. (BUPA is 50%+ of my business)

Congrats on your new job BT! LAst time i was on you were feeling pretty mis about your last position.

Sorry to hear Wizz has lost her job, too.

insywinsyspider · 27/05/2009 19:35

hi suey goog to see you back and I hope everything works out on the job front

skid we use bumgenius nappies but ds is chunky and as bt says I am wondering how long they'll fit, he loves playing with the velcro so our popollini easy fix with poppers are best but I do love bm ones on smaller babies

cazzy glad to hear sickness is passing - totally rubbish faze of pregnancy

nothing much going on here - I really miss my boys

SuperWasher · 27/05/2009 20:35

Hey Suey! Great to see you, we'd been wondering about you and were all hoping you were ok. I love this stage too, they are becoming proper little people now

Skid, BT makes a good point, I'd missed that he was outgrowing his nappies somehow (must read more carefully!)-no one size that I can think of is particularly good at either end of the size range. If it's pockets you are after then the large fuzzis are pretty massive (they fall down on ds and are big on dd even with huge nighttime boosting). I do have a few used ones that I'm not using at the moment if you wanted to try them? They aren't quite as reliable as BG but are ok if you get the stuffing right. If you want to try them then I can send you them and then if you like them you can either buy mine or send them back and get yourself some new ones... Other than that I'll have to get back to you with other large bummed suggestions as have had a glass of wine and can't think properly!

Cazzy poor you, glad the sickness is easing off though . I was so so glad that I wasn't as sick with ds as with dd, if I'd had 2 like it was with her I don't think I'd even want another!

BouncingTurtle · 27/05/2009 22:19

I've bought a fleece Minky pocket from Bumfluff, bought it for night use. It is pretty roomy, wrap over tabs and the pocket is very roomy for lots of stuffing. I got a Large and that will last DS til he is potty trained. Comes in lots of lovely patterns too - I got the one with the sheep!

Doctorskidaddle · 27/05/2009 22:31

hey suey - great to hear from you and glad you are enjoying motherhood - although sorry to hear about the business. I also love this age - so nice before they start talking!!

super washer clairey, BT and insy - thanks for the advice re BG. He has VERY chunky legs and a big bum (like his mother ) so sounds like BG is not the way to go. I was wanting a slim fitting nappy as trousers never squeeze over his bum which is why I was thinking of pockets - do you know of any slim fitting ones? I haven't used fuzzis but they sounds like they aren't v. slim fitting? (if they are, I'd love to try out/buy yours though - thanks)

hi cazzy - glad to hear the sickness has subsided. How many weeks are you now?

Doctorskidaddle · 27/05/2009 22:33

crossed posts BT - will have a look at minkys - thanks!

BouncingTurtle · 28/05/2009 08:23

Suey - yes, sorry to hear about the business - fingers crossed that BUPA will still recognise you.

Skid - How about wonderoos? They didn't suit Daniel's skinny legs, but perhaps they'll suit Milo better? They are a birth to potty and are reasonably slim fitting, and come in a vast range of colours. Again, Bumfluff stock them. They are poppered too, IIRC.

cazzybabs · 28/05/2009 08:25

Just use terries - one size fits all, they are cheap, quick to dry - if I can use them anyone can!

SuperWasher · 28/05/2009 11:20

Yep wonderoos are quite massive too, I can lend you one of those to try too if you don't mind hot pink? It's old style but new ones are the same fit just the poppers are different and less wing droop on the new. Fuzzis can be slim fitting if they fit right.

The slimmest fit I've found that does a variety of bums is bambinex with a separate wrap but they are maybe a bit too slim for big bums (depends how firm his poo is I suppose!). Again, can lend you a pink one! (do you have a nippa?)

I think my cat subscription has run out but if you send me a message on Fbook with your address I'll send them to you to try.

Cazzy terries were great with dd and on ds when he was smaller but I'm having a hard job finding a fold that both goes round ds' bum AND has enough at the front for boy wee...

cazzybabs · 28/05/2009 11:22

well i don't do boys so I don't know....

they are great for girls

insywinsyspider · 28/05/2009 18:09

skid - toby is very chunky and BG do a good job, welcome to borrow one to try - CAT me and will post it

cazzybabs · 29/05/2009 13:56

I am off to take Evie for her MMR....I KNOw there is no link to Autism - of that i am 110% convinced so why am I nervous about it...more so than any of the other jabs....

oh well tis an evil that has to be done!

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2009 20:44

Hello everyone hope you have been able to enjoy the lovely weather!
Took ds to the park along with a friend and her ds who is 4 days younger than my ds. They had so much fun, running around, playing with a ball and we were singing songs and doing actions as well as chasing after them when they wandered off too far. They also kissed and cuddled which was so cute
We also did ring around the rosies, with the mums holding each of the ds's hands, it was so sweet watching ds reach out for my friend's hand, and running up to her for a cuddle

insywinsyspider · 29/05/2009 21:14

cazzy hope MMR went well

bt glad you have lovely day in park

I think I'm the only person who can't stand this weather! 37 +1 and I want it to rain tomorrow not be hotter!!
my boys are back from their hols too - its great to have them back and my house feels nosier and more complete already (I'll be wanting to send them back by monday I'm sure )
