Thought I'd start us up a post-natal thread for the new mummies of March 09 (or thereabout!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

sorry not been on for ages but got a few things to tell!

Matthew has had a few bad nights, in comparison to his dream sleeping.

He has been waking up more frequently during the night and I am very tired now.

He had 8 weeks jabs last week and all was fine, I just put him straight on the boob!
He now weighs 10lb11oz, so at least my milk is doing something.

I have bought a medela electric breast pump. and I am expressing some milk, and he has taken a bottle really well, so I have decided to go to the OASIS concert next week and leave him and dd with my dear MIL

I rode my horse last week for the first time, and to my massive shame, everytime I cantered, i weed myself , so much so I had to get off and put on a pad

This DID NOT happen after birth of dd, so I guess, pelvic floor is now well and truly f**ked

Love to all, and sorry to read your sad situation on the other thread loli

Wheelybug · 03/06/2009 14:17

meep/Slick - thanks for asking about L's cough. Fingers crossed it seems to be getting better thankfully and our nights have got a bit better - not great but not waking every hour.

Took L to be weighed today as Doctor suggested I should on Monday as she's little and she's a whopping 10 lb 1 oz . OK, so still on something like the 5th centile but seems to have moved up a bit from the 2nd.

Well done on surviving the weekend meep. I too worry about temperature. We've only got as high as 26 in our bedroom but I remember our old house dd1's room the summer after she was born the temp got too hot to show on the thermometer.

lily - in my tired fog I read that as M having had 8 jabs. I was very confused Did you book the hol ?

grinning - sadly notts is a bit far to pop in for adrink but I hope it goes well. Also hope your friend is ok.

Well done on the job loli.

Wheelybug · 03/06/2009 14:24

oh and we partly chose the name Lara because we thought its not popular - when I got L weighed the baby in front of us was a Lara, born 3 days before and lives round the corner from us so good chance they might be in school together ! Just goes to show there's no point being too worried about it !!!

laweaselmys · 03/06/2009 14:30

Just to let everybody know, Lolianja is being accused of being a troll. So if she disappears soon that will be why.

Hope you're alright loli I know how everything can happen all at once! BTW as regards your job thread I think there is some good advice there and you should really think about what will be best.

lolianja · 03/06/2009 15:24

law, thanks. I'm not gonna disappear, I have no reason to. I have stuff to sort out IRL so may be on less, but that's all. Gawd it is maddening though.

laumiere · 03/06/2009 16:16

Well I believe you're real loli!

Some people on MN can be real bitches, when I was asking about advice on contraception (was told at 23 I couldn't have kids, conceived both DSes after approx 3 shags, don't want any more), I had MNers telling me I was boasting about my fertility to make other women feel bad!

jollyjoanne · 03/06/2009 16:28

Loli glad you're OK, you're one brave lady.

Meep glad you survived the weekend.

Wheely also glad L is starting to get better and has also managed to put on a few more pounds.

Meep know what you mean about hair, mine falling out quite a lot, glad I was warned about it or it could be quite worrying.

Lily LOL at the horse riding, but happy you are feeling able to go to the Oasis concert. I managed to express some milk too (getting a little better at it) and went off to work this morning leaving DH in charge and Mae decided she could manage her bottle for a little while she managed to drink about 60mls which is really good for her but she was quite hungry when I got home so I had to feed her again.

OP posts:
grinningbee · 03/06/2009 18:33

Meep I am sooooo of your lo's sleep pattern.

Loli How anyone can accuse you of being a troll is beyond me. Methinks they are in need of a slap!

Lily Poor you and the wee situation! Is it just when you're horse riding? Glad the jabs went well. Amy has hers tomorrow and I'm bricking it.

Wheely Good news on the weight gain for Lara.

So I have hair falling out to look forward too eh? Oh joy.

Quick question for you - what did your lo's 8 week check up involve, and also your own 6 or week check up? Had mine today and am curious about others as it seemed a little, erm.... pointless!

Update re friend - he was released from hospital on Monday. Threatened to kill himself again yesterday (went to throw himself off a bridge over a motorway this time). Dh called out at 11pm last night, came home at 4am after getting him taken to a hospital.... they released him again this morning I dunno what you have to do to get someone helped around here...

lilymolly · 03/06/2009 20:04

Grinningbee
I had NO 6 week check, they dont do it in Durahm Matthews 8 week check, was just a quick overview of heart, eyes, testes, hips head circumfrance and weight.....all pretty basic and nothing to worry about

I rode my horse again today, and guess what.......

No weeing this time so all is well, and I prob just need to tone up muscles I have never used in nearly a year [hopefull emoticon]

Loli Hope you are ok, I did not read your other thread about your dp, and had no idea you where being accused of being a troll. Agree this can be a bitchy place sometimes, but also a very supportive place.

Oh forgot to tell you we booked our holiday and am off to IBIZA IN 3 WEEKS TIME!!!!!!!!!

I am soooooooo excited, but dreading it a teeny little bit, as Matthew has decided to spend his days awake most of the day, with a little cat nap here and there, so any hopes of me lying around in the sun I think are dashed!

Can I just have a smug moment please, as I have managed to exclusively breast feed now for 9 whole weeks and I am very proud of myself

Wheelybug · 03/06/2009 20:49

Grinning - my 6 week check consisted of the doctor asking me about contraception and a brief blood pressure check (which was high but nothing more said/done). She didn't even check my c-sec scar until I asked her too as it hadn't healed.

Lara's check was weight, height, how she held her head, heart, breathing. Questions to me about PND.

Mine was a waste of time, Lara's useful-ish.

Sorry things with your friend are still so worrying.

Lily - well done on your breastfeeding. Tomorrow I will have been breastfeeding for 12 weeks which I never in a million years thought I would. L has one bottle a day but I really thought by now she'd be on more bottles.

lilymolly · 03/06/2009 20:58

WHEELYBUG CONGRATS X

I hope to BF for 6 months at least, so 9 weeks down another 15 to go!!

Matthew has expressed bm in a bottle, so at least I can be away from him for a little bit.

anyone else read the thread about Lolianja? It does not make for pleasant reading, the first one has been deleted, but their is another one around.
I really do hope she is genuine, as I feel like we have all grown together in our common post natal situation, and would be a "little" hurt she had been lying all along.

Anyway time for The apprentice!! Yipee

Deborah your gone

laumiere · 03/06/2009 23:02

Another one waving the BF flag, 15 weeks now!

lily I get what you're saying but that's not a very supportive comment.

lilymolly · 04/06/2009 08:28

laumiere

Sorry did not mean to come across as unsupportive, quite the opposite in fact.

I thought some of the comments on the other thread where horrible, and I have avoided it.

Hope you come back lolianja x

Hi lily it's the problem with online communication I think, I sometimes get the wrong end of the stick!

Fearless Sounds wonderful! How is the sling working out?

Gabriel is much better now, though he did just do a vomit comet all down my back (it's even in my knickers, eeeeeew!). Where on earth do they put all of that milk? Last night was hilarious, DH and I were smiling and pulling faces at him, he was totally fixed on me smiling and gurgling, when DH tried to get a smile he just looked at him, raised an eyebrow and then carried on grinning at me

Gabriel's also turned over a couple more times (usually front onto back) but I think it's more accident than design. He's also FIXATED on our food at mealtimes. I started DS1 on tastes of fruit at about 17w, may end up doing the same with him at this rate!

grinningbee · 04/06/2009 12:08

Well, that was traumatic!

Amy just had her jabs. Poor sausage screamed when the first one went in and cried her little eyes out. Mummy cried too...

Nice nurse gave me a couple of syringes to give her the Calpol with instead of a spoon and told me to give her a dose straight away, so I did and the syringe worked a treat. She's asleep on my lap now.

Thanks for the info re others 8 week checkups.

Amy just had her heart listened to, and her hips checked. No weighing, measuring or anything else!

I just had blood pressure done. Told her I'm STILL bleeing... but haave got a physio appointment as something weird is going on with my pelvis and hip - got up the other day and my foot wouldn't face forwards as my leg was funny, and something in my pelvis seems to click in and out of place...

Congrats on the bf'ing Wheely Laumiere and Lily. Almost 9 weeks in here too and really happy I've managed it.

Sorry for the me me me post . I'm just getting myself back toegther now with a biccy and a cuppa. And we have to do this again in 4 weeks!!!

lizziemun · 04/06/2009 12:51

loli

I hope your ok, and i agree with fearless I hate it when mumsnet seem to turn nasty as it is on few threads at the moment.

Grinningbee

I have to say i hate having their jabs done, even through Robert my third i feel just as guilty when Lizzie were done 5 yrs ago.

The only good thing about my new doctors surgery is that they have 2 nurses on duty when doing baby jabs. So they stand one each side and do the jabs at the same time.

3cutedarlings · 04/06/2009 14:03

Hi All sorry ive not posted in ages ive just been so busy what with school hols last week ect ect.

Alex is doing really well, he is a real charmer.

His sleep has gone completely to pot over the last 4 weeks, he has gone from just one night feed to waking every 3 hours!!! grrr, there is just no way i will leave weaning til 6 mths i am am counting down the days til he is 17 weeks lol .

He had his second lot of jabs on Tuesday so he has been a little off for the last 2 days, my GP did his first lot and he barely made sound but this time he screamed the place down . When the GP did them he injected them into the back of his thigh (on the real chubby bit) but the nurse who did this lot injected it into the front of his thigh, poor little fella is still in pain, he sobs every time i lift his legs when changing his bottom.

Hope your all OK, i shall go back a read properly now .

jollyjoanne · 04/06/2009 18:43

3cute glad you're still OK. Mae has also had her 12 wk jabs today, she's a bit grumpier than usual but not too bad.

Also still breastfeeding here just over 12 weeks, and I intend to carry on till she's 6mths ish.

OP posts:
meep · 05/06/2009 07:28

hooray to all of you that are stil breastfeding - that is brilliant!

3cute don't say that about night feeding. We are on a run of one feed at around 4am/5am and that is it. But having been through it all before it can all go tits up so quickly that I am not allowing one smug relaxed thought to enter my head - I am just sitting waiting for it all to change [sigh!]

fearless lol about the car seat - that is so funny that you have only found the sunshade - it's brilliant isn't it!

Rosie wailing - the baby gym is suddebnly a horrible place to be - back later!

grinningbee · 05/06/2009 09:35

Meep Isn't it funny how they can be enjoying something immensley one minute, and then hate it the next! Mine is currently in her bouncy chair, but not for much longer I suspect...

Had a horrible time with Amy last night. She developed a temperature after having had her jabs. All good until I tried to give her a dose of Calpol. First one earlier in the day had been easy... this one was a fight, and the poor little sausage choked really badly and scared me absolutely shitless. The way she looked at me was horrid and a felt like a very bad mummy. Cried my eyes out too...

How likely is it that they breathe this stuff in when they choke? I'm so paranoid Mind you, she is merrily chattering away to teddy at the mo, so no lasting damage I think.

Right, must go and express some milk. Boobs are like footballs (filled with frozen peas ha ha !) as she didn't want much last night.

grinningbee · 05/06/2009 09:41

yep - she lasted 4 minutes more before crying.

laumiere · 05/06/2009 10:10

meep Us too with the one 4.30 feed, am enjoying it while I can!

Mums using Calpol, you can go onto Nurofen at 3 mo, which both of mine infinitely prefer.

As for me? Gah, am feeling horribly miserable today for no apparent reason. Will be staying close to home today as really don't want to go out. Also cross as I need to buy a non-feeding bra for days when I'm in work and will have to get one in a D cup even though I'll probably be a C when I go back full time. I hate feeling like I have to waste £18. Boo.

laweaselmys · 05/06/2009 11:06

Mols was doing really spectacularly well sleeping through 8.30-7.00ish, but all week she has been going backwards, doing a few early morning wakenings all over the place and quite difficult to settle at night. I'm not sure if it is just because it is hot (she has seemed a bit easier now it is colder) or because she may or may not have chicken pox and trying to fight it off... oh well. She does seem to be getting better at least, and it's a far cry from going back to proper night waking.

Anybody else having fun making up little nonsense songs to sing? I can never remember nursery rhymes and they don't feel very me anyway, so currently she tends to get sung "It's a molly, there's a molly, she's a molly pie. It's a mummy, there's a mummy, blocking out the sky..." There are several more exciting versus, lol. I'm not sure if this is a sign I need to get out more!

grinningbee · 05/06/2009 11:42

Glad it isn't just me with the singing nonsense Law

Mine goes along the lines of "Little Amy, little Amy, little tiny Amy frog" er... best not to ask why really!

I always remember the line Tom Selleck gives in Three Men and a Baby - "it's not what you say to her (the baby) it's the tone of your voice" (while reading her a murder book or something) Very true!
