Yikes, DD just got hold of her brothers felt tip and gave herself a Hitler mustache. Obviously very comic and I made sure I got photos only now I can't get it off and we've got to go look round a house. Should at least challenge the estate agent when they try to get on side by complimenting me on my child.

HolidaysQueen · 23/04/2009 19:33

oooh bambipie, congratulations! i am trying to work out who on earth you could be! give us a clue...

i have a question about food now they're 1. can i give DS the following, or does he need to be older:

  • runny eggs
  • soft cheeses like brie
  • mouldy cheese like stilton

off to eat tub of phish food for dinner, yum there are some big advantages to DH being away.

just spent happy bedtime with DS looking at picture of me and DH we have in his room (have a wall of photos of family for him) - DS kept pointing and smiling at DH and then did this gentle little headbutt thing to the photo which is what he and DH do to each other (started as rubbing noses, but DS decided rubbing foreheads was better!) my heart melted

HolidaysQueen · 23/04/2009 19:34

pants - is the moustache black like hitler's or is it a psychedelic take on it? either way sounds like you have a budding artist!

HolidaysQueen · 23/04/2009 19:39

sorry, back again - am pmsl at this thread

merryberry · 23/04/2009 20:47

lmao hitler baby
and the bread thread.

my god this weather is magic isn't it? these are the sunny days with my kids i've always dreamed of having.

are you any better ff?

oh and i'm cheery as anything dp, though achy as usual, am i a partial distance success?

Dontpanic · 23/04/2009 21:49

good stuff MB - I think your RA may take a bit longer to ease than morning sickness, but am working on ya!

Love the little Hitler tache - how did your viewing go PHN, anyone notice?

HQ - my LO's been munching on dog biscuits, I don't think runny cheese will have much worse effect And btw, why do you need DH to be away to have an excuse to eat a tub of B&J? Who wears the Pants?

bambipie clues, clues! I can't remember who anyone is once they change name whether they keep posting or not!

Going to our first Tiny Talk session tomorrow, it's DH's non working Fri so had to take a day off myself to make sure he gets there and doesn't bottle it

turtle23 · 24/04/2009 07:01

bambipie- Are your initials AR?

turtle23 · 24/04/2009 07:55

DP- btw...the answer to your question is it lasts 49 hours. Still, very much enjoyed not being sick!

OP posts:
bambipie · 24/04/2009 08:29

First time round I was a piggy who was p and more recently I have been an oolia who was n! I think I was something else for a while but it was too long to type.
DH came home with a present for me yesterday - it was goats cheese. I don't really believe it's a real baby because I feel really periody and quite crampy. I don't remember if I felt like this last time.
LOL at hitler baby.

merryberry · 24/04/2009 10:12

penny drops!
congrats bambipie.
um, is that name as in who shot bambi's mum and put her in a pie? or am i just sick sick sick, and no reiki ever will sort me out ;)

pantshavenames · 24/04/2009 11:41

congrats bambiepie!
I managed to downgrade DD from Hitler to Fatima Whitbread before going to look at this house and the estate agent was too busy rushing us out to notice.
I don't get estate agents (apologies to anyone who is one- I'm sure we just get the dregs) but we are people looking to buy in a depressed market, we have 50% cash deposit and are renting on a rollover lease so can move whenever and this guy, instead of biting our hand off told us to be as quick as possible as due to a f-up at his office he had to get across town for another appt. . Admittedly we wouldn't have bought that house but we will be buying one at some point and I've gone off buying it from him!
Not as bad as the guy when we were selling our house, and he came round to give us a quote insisted he had to talk to DH!!

DD has me on tenterhooks today: she's discovered kitchen cupboards and the joys of shaking all the cereal boxes and has also discovered walking backwards! Sometimes holding a cereal box and rattling.

bambipie · 24/04/2009 12:32

I am afraid new name is because I couldn't think of anything else and we were having venison pie for supper! DH called it bambi pie when dd was having it for her lunch.

merryberry · 24/04/2009 14:39

ah, so i'm 'sick like other people sick'
can live with that

CricketsMum · 24/04/2009 19:41

have been shocked out of lurking... turtle, were you implying you thought it was me that was pg too?? ohmigod if so. no chance at all. almost still at the 'never ever ever again' phase. i don't know what the odds are of having another colicky one that doesn't sleep through until the age of 1 but i am loathe to risk it!!!
btw congrats to you (and bambipie). am in awe of anyone that copes with more than one LO!!!

FfreckleFface · 24/04/2009 23:26

Congratulations, Bambipie.
CM, you're the opposite of me. I am loathe to risk another one because I was so lucky with Ff's sleeping, as I know I am bound to have a bad sleeper next time round. Of course, with the whole uni thing now it is likely to be four years or so before we start again.

Thank you, DP. Not sure if it worked or not - I have had a hideous week. I won't go in to details, but safe to say I am convinced that it has done wonders for my diet, and even with the wine I am necking sipping elegantly tonight, I should have lost a few pounds this week.

HQ - is he back? Have you had a good week? That's so sweet with the photos. I have been showing pictures of Bloke to Ff, which makes her smile, and earlier on when he phoned she shouted 'Dadadadaddy' down the phone at him, which thrilled him but also upset him. But, six weeks down now, so it is ticking by.

Doing a trip to London with Ff on Wednesday, and, depending on how that goes, might be up for a London meet up soon?

Have a good weekend all.

turtle23 · 25/04/2009 07:51

Morning all. Typing this from my new home (the bathroom.) Those of you who have travelled from Gatwick do you know if you can buy any sort of baby stuff onthe other side? I seem to remember that the Boots in south terminal had nothing. I know that DS is going to be 14 months, but I am worrying as he still has a few teeth to go and the molars are soooo bad that he only eats pureed stuff a lot of the time. There is no food on the plane so will have to bring SOMETHING he can eat. I object to having to open jars if they wontbe needed. Spose I'll just have to hope he magically stops teething in next couple of weeks. Also...(sorry so long) am buying UV tent for beach as it's v windy as well as hot. Anybody ever had one? Are they worth it?

OP posts:
HolidaysQueen · 25/04/2009 08:19

turtle - we have a little tent thing. I hate sitting in direct sun for too long, and I also love reading which needs a little bit of shade, so we got it for me. It worked fine for sunshade and keeping lunch and drinks cool and sand free. Not tried it with DS - suspect we'd need a bigger one if there was to be a hope of him staying in the shade. Check with your hotel first - they may have umbrellas, cabanas or such like.

FfFf - he lands in 2 hours Just a stinky nappy and parking at Heathrow between me and my man! I feel like I have been a bit of a super mum this week (got to work on time every day, and didn't have to get nanny to do more than normal, and didn't resort to INTG more than once, and got DS to take a few steps with his walker for first time - yay!) but I am also bloody knackered...

Right off to do nappy now. Think this one requires a gas mask and bleach (he had blueberries for breakfast and the BumGenius won't be happy...)

CricketsMum · 25/04/2009 22:47

Turtle - they do sell baby food 'on the other side' at gatwick, not amazing range but some stuff definitely. Think you can preorder too if you are organised enough (I'm not!). Last time we went through customs lady told me that the rules are they have to check one-third of the stuff you are taking for babies (food wise) so 1 of the 3 jars I had in my hand luggage. Have had other customs people that have insisted on opening everything, but if you challenge them about what the actual rules are they might back down? (or thinking about it they might think you are trying to hide something... hmmm... maybe don't challenge the nice customs people).
[gets coat and leaves quietly]

turtle23 · 26/04/2009 06:52

CM- Yes...I had one of the not so nice guys last time who made me open every single one. And taste it. Argh. I hope if I do have to take it through that the MS calms down...tasting jarred food. Heave....

OP posts:
Dontpanic · 26/04/2009 08:07

turtle, last time we went thru T5 we had to taste the lot, but because i was busy getting the pushchair back up and looking after LO I sent dh off to do the sampling - he didn't know he'd have to do it but it made me laugh ;)

The whole tasting thing is ridiculous though, you don't have it on the way back from the USA, and they're usually the ones who are ultra cautious and nit picking. Yet at heathrow they missed the 200ml of Aloe Vera gel in LO's changing bag, but the LAX ones got it straight away on the return, I hadn't even realised it was in the bag so gutted to lose it then!

When are you going? I rang Boots head office/cust services to find out what was available, they've got a list of what's stocked where if you try that?

Dontpanic · 26/04/2009 08:51

Probably of no interest to you at all, but having looked through the doula uk site, am astounded to find that only 7 people are listed under Wales, and of that 7, only 2 actually live in Wales, that's a shocking lack of coverage! Xmas Shock

littleducks · 26/04/2009 09:07

hello all!

am giggling at CricketsMum reasoning for never ever again wanting to be pg, feel exactly the same way atm!

turtle am not sure if you tasting baby food is a good idea, that would def make me vomit when pg and that would def put customs on high alert

ds has a new word cake which he absolutely adores, i have made cupcakes twice and he has shoved handfuls in delighted clearly shocked that im allowing him to eat this wonderstuff

it is a big week for us next week, dd finally starting preschool and then we are going to devon for the weekend

turtle23 · 26/04/2009 09:51

DP- Well, then...new job possibility for you.

OP posts:
Dontpanic · 26/04/2009 12:37

I'm in the "not getting pg since i'd end up with devil child for #2 compared to my little angel #1" boat

Turtle, it's something i'd consider if i didn't already have a full time job, but no way could i commit to being there for someone pre or post birth. Won't be giving up the day job on HypnoBirthing clients or Reiki sales just yet

MIL is still the only one to have heard LO produce words, but since they're still only Iggle and Makka, I don't want them to count.
Not sure, but we think he may be speaking German instead of English, very fond of saying argelargelargel.

pantshavenames · 27/04/2009 08:24

Turtle- don't quite know what the rules are or what your LO will eat but have you thought about taking those dried foods- I think you can get cottage pie and stuff and just reconstituting it with bottled water if you need it? I'm going completely the other way and am filling a car with such british staples as Marmite in preparation for 2 weeks in France. Embarrassing I know, but it's that or screaming tantrums every morning I'm sure.
No words here either but due to DD discovering a new consonant combination have spent all weekend humming Hanson....mmmmmBOP!!!
For what it's worth, we had the devil child first and the angel child second. It's probably possible to have 2 angels but I think I would prefer the order we did it to the other way, less of a shock to the system.
