do change your fb language (bottom left hand corner, click on the UK bit) to pirate for a while. tis amusing

Dontpanic · 02/05/2009 16:42

Ar, that it be...
Which always makes me want to add "that it is woman, that it is"...blackadder

Turtle, feel free to fb message as well, but def think you should tell Dh to sod off and take someone with you for moral support even though it's 99.99% probable that NOTHING IS WRONG!

Ff, don't fret about the inbuilt guilt syndrome unless it takes your mind off other things to worry about! Just look forward to the beerfest in case you can't get to another one!

Really enjoying the HB teaching, kind of funny & weird responsibility to be someone perceived as an expert in the giving birth field by newcomers

FfreckleFface · 02/05/2009 21:02

Thanks all.

Turtle, that's rubbish! I can't believe he is getting you to hide his ruthless abandonment little holiday at the expense of your comfort at the scan. Ask someone to go with you.

ILGB - sorry, didn't answer this yesterday. London was fab. She loved the back carrier, and was thrilled at the whole tube experience. We had lunch at Odette's in Primrose Hill, and she was beautifully behaved. So, ladies, this means that Ff is London-friendly, enabling us to attend a London meet-up.

Gorgeous weather today! Grass stains all over knees, as Ff is still refusing to walk...crawling much faster!

Well it couldn't go on forever could it? 5 weeks of sleeping through like a little angel and then up from 1-4 last night. THANK GOD it's a weekend and I don't have to go to work today. To be fair to her she has a stinking cold and I'm pretty sure her canines are on the move so it was justified but still a bummer. those working - how do you cope with work when you are completely sleep deprived?
oh... and where's the sunshine today?

bambipie · 03/05/2009 18:01

Turtle - have you found someone to go to your scan with you. to think of you going on your own.
I'm feeling sick as a dog and sooooo thirsty, but I can't keep any fluids down. I've been on the ice lollies today which has helped a bit! Did anyone find anything that helped with MS other than the munching dry biscuits etc? Vomiting while trying to look after a toddler is not good!
Hope eveyone is having a nice bank hol!

merryberry · 05/05/2009 11:21

much sympathy bambipie, tis a horrow, pg with older one to chase after. distraction only goes do far, for them or for us.

gg is teething those 1st molars, poor boy, so sore. struggling to be his usual merry self.

Dontpanic · 06/05/2009 19:34

hello all
not much to report here, except LO has moved along the evolutionary scale...still crawling but on hands and feet rather than knees now. Looks a bit like Gollum

turtle23 · 07/05/2009 07:05

bambi-have tried it all. Am learning to live with a bucket next to me.
Question for those with older DC as I have no memory...when do they start telling you that they've done a poo? For the last two weeks P comes up to me the second he's done a poo and pulls on my skirt/trousers and wriggles about. Thought he was just being cute, but now realise that he is telling me something. Odd.

littleducks · 07/05/2009 07:25

turtle i have come to the conclusion that P is quite bright! my dd used to do some of the things you describe at the same ages including the poo thing, she also then started going to find somewhere semi private to take a sh*t and at three everyone comments on how she is a 'bright little thing'

however ds is very different, he not only doesnt care that he has a dirty nappy but contines to bum shuffle about which makes changing him a full blown bath job

it was the second scan that dh was abroad for when i was pg but i actually booked it a week or two later so that dh would be there (pfb preg i must admit) i thought it had to be dead on your dates but the scanning receptionist said it was rarely like that due to so many factors

bambipie hope the sickness fades and (bit late) congratulations

Ff glad the London day trip was a sucess and hope that a meet up materialises soon as i want to coo over babies and they are all getting so big

dh has a day off today so i have a dentist appointemneny this am (wisdom teeth are going to be removed so assessment for that) and drs this pm (TMI ALERT i have been bleeding like a heavy period for two months continously now and the tablets i was given havent worked at stopping it) so i feel ill and grumpy atm

turtle23 · 07/05/2009 07:53

LD- Poor you! I hope you manage to get it sorted soon. Still planning on coming to visit you...just have to wait for nausea to calm down.

I have realised that I can cope with going to the scan alone. I have a home doppler thingy so I at least know that baby is still with us. That's the one I couldn't cope with alone. Anything else will have to be dealt with over time anyway. Am just hoping it isn't twins as I don't quite know how that will work. Wanted hem badly first time round, but this time is a bit different!

turtle23 · 07/05/2009 07:54

(and yes, P has his own "quiet space"...he either crouches behind the sofa or behind the freezer)

OP posts:
merryberry · 07/05/2009 11:46

ds1 never did turtle.
ds2 gives me a quizzical look which seems to say 'what have you done to my arse, mother?'

hope you feel better soon, ld.

FfreckleFface · 07/05/2009 15:42

Turtle, that's so cute. Ff is more than happy in her own filth, so the only clue I get is her special poo face (apart from the smell, obviously!).

LD, hope the doctor is helpful and you feel better soon.

A London meet up is long overdue. How is everyone fixed over the next few weeks? Next week is quite busy for us, but the week after might be ok.

ILGB - hope you enjoyed your birthday. Following on from your dilemma...this happened to me this week. I had a CAT message yesterday from a mum from toddler group saying that she had clocked me. I think this is a good way to do it - we are meeting up with some other local MNers soon.

Turned my back at the toddler group here on camp for a second this morning (was aghast at a conversation about Babycentre...none of the mums there MN)and when I looked back around at the table where the babies were eating their snacks, Ff had finished her first (and only, if I had my way) biscuit and had stolen the tin from a much older little boy. She was covered in crumbs, and was eating three custard creams at once...When I had disguised my horror (good Lord the sugar!) and dusted her down, she proceeded to wander about minesweeping from tommee tippee cups of babies whose mums let them have squash, wilfully ignoring her own beaker of water.

I am blaming Babycentre. This never would have happened at a group run by a Mumsnetter!

HolidaysQueen · 07/05/2009 19:47

It could have been worse FfFf: if it were netmums, it could have been fruit shoots

I'm just too excited to breathe. Doug Ross returns to ER tonight. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!

No awareness of filthy nappies here: just wallows in it. DS is definitely is no super-baby like P and LD's DD. GLOAT ALERT: He does feeds himself with a spoon now though which we discovered quite by chance a couple of weeks ago when we gave him some soup and a spoon for a laugh and were amazed to discover he ate it all with barely any mess!

Ewe · 07/05/2009 22:22

I hardly ever give DD a spoon, should probably try it sometime as that sounds very HQ!

DD has certain places that she poohs and she goes at the same time everyday. In the morning when we are all in the bedroom she gets off the bed and toddles into the en suite and crouches down and in the afternoon hides under the dining room table! It's quite cute.

I am loving this age, DD is such a show off and loves learning new things and she does a little routine type thing where she does jazz hands, claps, does a little wiggle (thanks Tikkabilla!) and then hi fives. It is adorable, have a video somewhere, will have to upload.

We REALLY should try and sort out a meet up.

turtle, CricketsMum - are either of you doing any baby classes/toddler group type things still?

turtle23 · 08/05/2009 07:23

Ewe- We do swimming, two playgroups and Gymboree. The only way to make P sleep is to be busy 23.5 hours a day.

OP posts:
CricketsMum · 09/05/2009 11:03

Ewe - we were doing Gymboree on a Saturday but haven't managed for several weeks. Am now working FT again so don't manage anything else.

Ewe · 09/05/2009 23:42

I feel a bit conscious of spending all my non work days (Wed, Sat and Sun) doing stuff for me so I was thinking I might try and do something a bit more DD focussed. We used to go to the soft play at Horton but they have changed pricing structure and it now costs a bloody fortune!

Didn't realise Gymboree has a Sat class, that could be good. Where do you do swimming lessons turtle? (FB me if you'd rather) I haven't had any joy in finding any locally.

Spent 3 hours in the park today so really need to spice things up to keep the little monster angel busy and therefore tired . Also looking at Socatots but all these things seem such a rip off!

How is morning sickness turtle? You feeling well merryberry? Hope you are now much better too littleducks.

turtle23 · 10/05/2009 06:12

Ewe- Give me a shout if you fancy meeting up. Don't do lessons. I think they're too expensive. There are a few places about, though. Aquatots and Waterbabies both do it round here, I think. We go to David Lloyd to swim as they have indoor and outdoor pools(should the sun ever shine.) I don't want to jinx it, but yesterday I didn't feel ill at all. Felt slightly queasy feeding DS at 5am today, but not like I usually do...fingers crossed!

JFly · 11/05/2009 12:33

Hey ladies. Long time no see. Have been lurking shamelessly, but I always feel I haven't got much to add!

But this is the best place for a whinge, so here I go. There was the slimmest chance I was pregnant but I'm not. And I was a bit disappointed. We're not trying and I think DH would prefer to wait, but I guess I would like to have another sooner rather than later.

I'm probably just getting caught up in the excitement of a few friends who've recently announced they're pg. I like the idea of it all, but I'm unsure about age gaps and the practicality of two in nappies, etc. Anyway, it's got me thinking. My cycle is still all over the place so I'll be tracking it and taking vitamins and maybe even start weaning G! But that's a whole different story!

crashfistfight · 12/05/2009 12:07

hello All

Jfly - been lurking quite a while too and been having similar thoughts about getting preggers again soon. So many things to think about, advantages/disadvantages ect. but I think my mom is pretty clear on what I should do. She sent me an email this morning saying 'time for another one'...subtle.

Am still BF too so cycles are also off but not sure if this has to do w/ bf or not. I'd have thought they would have regularized by now.

DD has learned a magic trick where she 'hides' something behind her back and looks surprised and says 'where did it go?' in baby speak. then I have to look for whatever shes hidden after which point she whips out said object with a grand VOILA! its so funny but she's so proud that she's pulled one over on me.

skidoodle · 12/05/2009 22:47

hello everyone,

I haven't even really been lurking much. Every month or so I try to catch up with you guys, but it takes so long that I never seem to get to the end before something else (I'm looking at you rascally DD) distracts me.

Funny to read wonderings about time for a second. I just found out today that I am up the duff again! That brought me back to Mumsnet pretty quickly after months of not posting at all. I'm a bit up in the air about it, not really sure how I feel. I guess overall I will be very happy when it sinks in.

Anyway, glad to hear you are all doing well and that you have such scatalogically advanced offspring

Congrats to turtle and bambipie (best name ever), and hi to HQ, MB, DP, JFly, littleducks, Ewe and all the rest of you and your incredibly cute sounding little ones.

Ewe · 12/05/2009 22:56

Wow, skidoodle, nice to see you and congratulations!

I would love to have another baby but realistically know it is not practical/sensible/sane etc so am a bit jealous but will enjoy living it vicariously through all of you!

Would love to meet up turtle, do you do much on a Wednesday normally as that is the day I don't work?

DD has MMR tomorrow which I am a wee bit nervous about but going to Vertigo in London in the evening for a friend's birthday. Have any of you been? It's fab, amazing views so hope the weather isn't too crappy.

skidoodle · 13/05/2009 00:09

Thanks Ewe

I'm nervous about mmr too even though there is not even a tiny part of me that believes the scare was anything other than irresponsible journalism. Nice double negative, eh?

Soon it will be over and you'll be so relieved
