No he's refused his feed this morning too... going to start a separate thread on it I think. Ds1 went cold turkey too one day, am really quite upset that history may be repeating itself (albeit a few more months down the road).

georgina, dd often refuses her bedtime feed but then wakes later. or do you mean is this the end of bf?

dd has had hummous. didnt think it was wrong.. oh well, she's fine. chick peas arent nuts surely.

she's still in bed actually. why am i up!? she woke only at 530 so gave her a huge bottle. i know i know......but she sleeps loads after!

the days are warming up............

egypt · 19/04/2005 08:50

oh posts crossed. oh dear. is he eating? maybe coming down with something?

GeorginaA · 19/04/2005 09:00

I think it's teething related (although we all know about my false alarms with teething!) but feeling a bit rejected and teary tbh. Weird thing is, I'd hoped for a year... here I am at a year and now desperately upset that he may have stopped!

DD has chick peas. Gave her some in soup a while back and also we had Delia's spicy chick pea cutlets on Friday no problem. Kbaby how glamourous are you?! Wow! Love the pictures of DD too. Georgina DD has the bin lorry as well and its been a nightmare - he's always stuffing random items in the back of it. DH found him a load of conkers to use as rubbish in the vain hope that he would stop putting random toy parts plus our stuff in it. The aeroplane is OK but quite large due to wing span and to my mind doesn't actually do that much IYSWIM. Airport has quite a few bits and pieces to fiddle withbut is a nightmare if DD gets anywhere near it and also would not be very good without the plane. DS also has the tour bus and a bus stop so can enact the whole being on the plane and arriving at the airport, catching the bus to the hotel (fisherprice garage serves as hotel) scenario.

DD it teething in a big way and keeps biting my clothes. Have tried giving her teething rings etc to no avail - maybe I could tie a knot in a flannel and give her that. Also had a minor incident with her yesterday. Was cleaning upstairs and she was following me round. Anyway was just dusting DH's office and she stuck her finger in one of those golf ball returner putting practice thingies and got it stuck and the machine was stuck on. Took me ages to get it out and her finger was all purple. Then the machine was stuck on so I had to take the batteries out to shut it up. Anyway her finger seems to bend OK and doesn't seem to be bothering her after the initial tears but the machine is kaput.

Libb · 19/04/2005 09:57

hello chaps,

I have been keeping a beady eye on you all even though I haven't posted. DS hasn't been well and I can't tell if it is related to teething or not . . .

He has all the symptons of teething but a raging temp and an urge to sleep on mummy all day long. Nurofen seems to be cooling him down and he becomes my darling again - until it wears off and then we have mardy arse number squillion! We went the emergency doctor on Sunday night who said it was an infection, took him to the doctor again yesterday who agreed - great, but what kind of infection? dagnammit.

I feel so helpless, I hate phoning work and telling them I won't be in but I want to take care of my boy too . . . . My boy is currently berating the sofa about some misdemeanour it has performed, he is also trying to open the video cabinet with his head. I love Nurofen me.

Kbaby, you look fantastic - congratulations!!! xxx

Cat and Spots, I will be e-mailing you both soon.

There isn't a great deal going on housewise even though I have e-mailed and phoned like a demon. I will keep you all posted though.

Have to go, DS is pretending to scale Mount Everest - or the stairs in this case.

Twiglett · 19/04/2005 09:59

DD got the pox now ... she looks horrific .. all wealed and blistered .. but grinning through it

am going to read messages soon, am currently watching 2 under-3s whilst their mums go swimming (they are plonked in the lounge with pox-baby in front of a power rangers video) .. I should pay them a little attention I feel

spots · 19/04/2005 12:58

Naaaah Twiglett. We want your attention. Sorry about the poxy one...

Libb, bad news about DS too. Horrible to get a nothingy diagnosis like that. how long has he been bad?

On the hummus thing, and I do really know how difficult and inconclusive the nuts thing is but can't resist drawing it out a little longer... I know chick peas are pulses, but it has sesame seeds in it and they seem to be more allergenic than other seeds. TBH my HV said 'no sesame seeds' was the party line so I'm already being a bit floppy on the good mummy front. More interested in what other people actually do. Am glad to hear you are all shovelling hummus in like it'd gone out of fashion. which i don't think it has, yet... what did we do before hummus?

Georgina I would feel the same I think... keep us posted and don't be sad...

Bozza · 19/04/2005 14:20

OK spots just for you - I have stopped sterilising bottles, DD is on cow's milk with only a bedtime bottle of formula, I have allowed DD to eat smarties (not a full tube you understand but a couple from the ones that came with DS's Easter Egg, wouldn't buy smarties myself because of the Nestle thing). I let DD play with the aerosol furniture polish this morning until I realised she was actually licking the residue around the nozzle. Plus the incident with the golf ball returner below. Was quite stressed for a few moments, imagining myself piling DD together with attached returner which wouldn't shut up and DS into the car and heading off to the hospital for the second time yesterday.

Judd · 19/04/2005 17:57

DS is in high chair with huge pile of Cheerios, whilst I read as many Mumsnet posts as I can before he gets bored! I congratulate myself upon his excellent pincer grip

Judd · 19/04/2005 18:01

And I am selling steriliser at the NCT sale on Saturday. £4 for a microwave one about right?

spots · 19/04/2005 22:52

Judd you are another busy one. How was the coffee morning?

Bozza. lol the licking aerosol. yeurgh.

wine with collleages and exes tonight. yahr!

Judd · 19/04/2005 23:15

Wine? That explains the gratuitous use of "l" in colleagues
I have had gin and Skittles tonight. Consoling myself as DH didn't feel it was worth coming home from Oxford to go back there tomorrow (needs to leave at 5.30am from here). He's away tomorrow night as well, but tonight was unexpected. I was feeling sorry for him working so hard until he launched into "so I'll need to buy some trousers to go out in tonight, and a suit for Thursday, as well as all my toiletries". Pah and gah. I want to go somewhere and buy loads of stuff.

Bozza · 20/04/2005 10:01

Ah yes Judd we were there the other week. DH "forgot" to take a tie with him and so for some reason had to buy 2 ties and a casual top. Actually totally overreacted and had a right go at him because he'd also bought a golf top and a t-shirt and it was my birthday that week so I was the one supposed to be getting stuff. Childish, me?

DD is moving into the toddler room at nursery at the beginning of May. But she is still a baby? Isn't she? DH told them he didn't think she was ready but they assured him that she is and how much she enjoys colouring and sticking etc. (So nothing to do with juggling the numbers in each room then?). Have to say I was quite impressed with her colouring - she actually scribbles unlike DS at that age who would just stab the paper. Course doesn't take long before she decides to eat the crayon or launch it across the kitchen.

cat82 · 20/04/2005 13:23

Hi everyone!
I've been really bad at writing recently!

Fairly quiet on the news front really. Bad news about our puppy to be sadly, the mummy- Luna is in heat but isn't ready to be mated. She could be havng a "silent season" which means that doesn't give off the scent she needs for the dog to be interested and that means we will have to wait another 9 bloody months before trying again It could still happen but her season is almost over now so it's looking unliky. After waiting for so long it's a major blow.

Kiera now has 6 teeth, can clap, wave and sip from a cup. She also eats toast in the morning like a pro all by herself Still not standing or cruising but hopefully it'll happen soon!

Twigglet- bad news on the pox, hope it clears up soon!

Libb- Hi hon, hopefully see you soon.

Georgina- Hugs, how's the feeding going now? Really must speak soon on msn!

Egypt- let me know when you're free!

My freinds dd is much improved, thankfully. I've been over a couple of evenings and got back before 11.00pm after short CC bouts. She's getting better in the day as well which is good.

Anyway hope you're all well!

xxxx

Judd · 20/04/2005 21:14

Anybody around to tell me to back off from the chocolate biscuits left over from coffee morning?

egypt · 21/04/2005 09:02

obviously not!

egypt · 21/04/2005 12:01

morning, and what a lovely one too. dd asleep in the garden and me catching up on stuff, most importantly, mumsnet of course.

hope you're all well; fingers healing, poxes recovering, etc. Sorry to hear about the puppy cat. are there no other breeders you feel you could use? my neighbours always knows breeders. if you wanted me to ask.

well, nights arent great, how are all yours? went from 11 til 830 today so thats good, but night before not good, and most nights the same.

i know there was something i wanted to ask you lot but forget what it was now.......

pointless post really.......... off to eat something

Bozza · 21/04/2005 12:25

Egypt our nights are not bad. Had a bad time over the weekend which I think was down to teething/cold. But tooth actually came through overnight yesterday - there was blood on her sleeve (think she'd been chewing it) and her sheet but she slept through. We do call her contrary for a reason.

Glad its a lovely morning where you are. I am sat in the office in my coat because the air-con is on overdrive (and producing a very annoying rattle). Tried to do an invitation for DD's birthday party last night with picture of DD and actual invite. Looks OK but needs a bit of work on the formatting and will have to set printer to better quality for picture. Was thinking of putting 3.30 to 5.30 on invite. Not bothered if people stay longer but just thought those time parameters for when I want people to arrive from and will have food and cake by then. Inviting a few children plus family. Does that seem OK? Think it will be a very rough affair compared with DS's first birthday party but hope to chuck the pre-schoolers into the garden.

Judd · 21/04/2005 13:54

Bozza - party sounds similar to what we are planning for DS. Our problem is that all Ds's little pals are second children, so by the time you've invited 5 cute little ones, you've also got 5 great clodhopping preschoolers . My friend did organised craft activities for the older children - much respect from me! - but she has a bigger house with separate playroom. I'm hoping for good weather so we can shift people gardenwards.
I can't find an expiry date on our sun cream from last year. Does it pass its best at some point?

Bozza · 21/04/2005 14:23

Judd snap. Its the pre-schoolers (ie DS and his mates) that I am bothered about. I have considered hiring a bouncy castle in order to make the garden more appealing. Also think DS would enjoy it and we've never been able to have one for his February birthday. Couldn't handle organising craft activities while sorting out drinks/socialising/looking after DD and its about her really not the older ones. I'm going to invite:
1 4yo
1 3yo
2 2yo (both May birthdays so one only just 2 and one almost 3)
2 1yo
1 6mo
1 3mo
1 newborn (at least I think he is born the car was not on my neighbour's drive all night!)
Plus my own two.

Suncream is supposed to get less effective and nursery always insist on us replacing it every year. But then I just use the old one up at home. I mean in the north of England does it matter if you have factor 25 instead of factor 50? Wouldn't use it on holiday though. Is it sunny on your side of the Pennines then? I dunno Egypt's DD asleep in the garden, you worrying about suncream, something's not right here.

egypt · 21/04/2005 14:51

buuuuuuuuuut, she is wearing a fleece and hat, under her cosytoes with the hood over the pram. its not that warm you know! but as long as the sun is out!

ooooooooeeeeeee, my cousin is getting married in oct and has asked dd to be bridesmaid!!! they have even moved the wedding back as we'll be on hols in sept when they were going to have it. feel all tearful and proud.......

Bozza · 21/04/2005 16:42

Ooh how lovely Egypt. I'm sure she will be gorgeous - 17 months so still quite cuddly.

spots · 21/04/2005 20:39

It was a lovely day here too. We went to an ecology centre nearby and saw a huge peacock go 'Hay-elp' like Penelope Pitstop.

I am looking out of the window and it's still light. Leaves appearing on the currant bush. i think last year I never really got a chance to enjoy the summer; too busy being freaked out at having a baby. So this year hope to spend more time outside under the flapping nappies on the line. Thinking about it, I really was quite freaked out. I didn't know DD at all. This summer will be so different!

Must get her a little hat that will stay on.

Linnet · 21/04/2005 21:56

She Walked!!! Dd2 stands beside the couch and if I sit a little way away from her and hold out my arms she lets go and walks towards me Ok so she only manages about 2 steps before she falls into my arms but it's a start. Tonight at my granny's she just let go of the couch and walked a few steps without me sitting there to catch her, had to move fast.

Got dd2 weighed yesterday she is now 20lbs 12 oz. And a month today she will be 1 year old, a whole year I can't believe it's gone so fast.

It was a beautiful day today, spent all day out in the garden cutting back the roses and Dh cut the grass. Dd2 sat in her buggy watching us and pulling her sunhat off her head.

Sleeping is getting better dd2 doesn't get up every night now only every other night.

Aren't the lighter nights lovely Spots. The trees are all starting to sprout leaves here and I know that by dd2's birthday it will all look lovely. Walking home from school tonight dd1 kept saying how much she loves summer

Sorry to hear about your pup Cat fingers crossed that it does happen.
