ScorpiowithabigS · 08/03/2009 12:02

I'm gonna ask DH if thats where he comes from

ScorpiowithabigS · 08/03/2009 12:02

he slapped me, lol

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 12:02

Rofl chipmonkey. Do you think they'd get the hint if we book them all on a men's weekend there?!

KnitterInTheNW · 08/03/2009 13:49

I'll read the rest of the posts in a minute but...

Sal, we just booked our family holiday for the first week of July, in this cottage (my parents are coming too), for £195!! It's only just over 2 hours away from home. Bargain! Could you look for something like that for your 1st holiday?

KnitterInTheNW · 08/03/2009 13:55

Hahaha, ever since I saw you call your DH knobber on here Scorpio, I've been using it at every available opportunity - it's brilliant!

I went inot town and bought underwired bras yesterday. In the sale too. I'm wearing one now, feels odd but I look fantastic! I keep looking down my top to see how perky I look

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 14:14

Knitter, that looks lovely!! Great price as well - I double checked to see if I didn't misread. Will show dh as soon as he's back from the mission to make R sleep in his cot again!

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 14:17

Knitter, just quickly read your post above, and was slightly concerned that you used the word "knobber" whilst buying underwired bras!!! Was very relieved to see the sales lady came out unscathed.

KnitterInTheNW · 08/03/2009 14:28

Hee hee!! Actually I went into M&S first and they 'made' me buy non wired scaffloding old lady bras cos they were the only ones that fit, I measured a 40E and the wires on the M&S ones came down too far at the bottom and rubbed on my ribs. So I went to Debenhams and tried some of theres on, and they're perfect! So I was calling the whole of M&S a knobber in my head. Have to say it's usually other drivers that get called it mostly.

Peachy · 08/03/2009 14:48

Ah nice bra#'s- need some! Am buyin myself afew smarter items atm but ahve informed dh that nicer undied are his responsibility . So erm have no chance LOL

Just found out the people Dh worked for until his contract was bought out have been fined millions (TNT)- . Soooo glad he's with the rbeakaway company but we actually know a lot of people on that contract as they share premises.

DS1 is at aother house today (twice a year event- well for 2 hours) breakdance practsing for the Red Nose Day auditions at school tomorrow; quiet as anything! He's OK in toehr houses usually and this Mum is a TA with the school so Knows Him (and looked justifiably worried!). So tis ver ver quiet.
DS3 upset as his 1-1 has left, ds2 over the moon as he found a tenner on the street (in shops = hand in, street = lucky you I guess) and spent it on his fave books which were on 3 for 2.

Peachy · 08/03/2009 14:49

Did byu myself a smart red trench amc in M&S, at least if I throw it over a fleece its approaching smart!

LadyBee · 08/03/2009 15:18

ooohhh, I'm jealous of the shopping, my budget-so-we-can-pay-for-wedding didn't allow a huge amount for new clothes so I'm having to be very strict and not buy things - but every so often I really just want to. I'm going to have to have a good look at spring/summer work wear though, I only need about 5-6 outfits to get me through work days and not feel like I'm wearing the same stuff all the time, but I'm not sure I can even get that together - what on earth did I wear last year? Oh yes...maternity yoga pants, stretch bf-ing tops and boob tubes underneath. That's not really going to cut it...sigh

Like the sound of the red trench...>

Peachy, I've got your message thanks, will try to get it into the post early this week but it might not be until Wednesday.

I think I need to get measured again for bras - boobs seem to have changed shape again, a bit smaller and much softer than they were

LadyBee · 08/03/2009 15:24

oh and speaking of knobbers. And budgets. DP just came downstairs and very proudly told me he'd set up the child trust fund (yes, only a year later...this is a different discussion), and that he's also set up a monthly payment into it from our joint account.
It's not budgeted for.
Sigh...so now I look like a sourpuss for saying 'you should have discussed it with me, we don't have that money to spare - remember we did a budget' and he gets to feel aggrieved and 'I can't do anything right'-ish, and he should have talked about it first. I think he's not taking this seriously..he's so used to thinking that we earn enough to have to think about everything we spend, he thinks we can still do it. Talking about money with him is a nightmare, I can understand him being squeamish about it with strangers, but I'm his partner FFS. Sheesh.

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 16:12

What is it with the guys today?!

KnitterInTheNW · 08/03/2009 16:33

It's not just today, they#re crap all the time!

My bras (well the ones i'm keeping) are just cotton t shirt ones from debenhams. Meant to be £20 for a pack of 2, one was reduced to £10 and the other £6, then another 20% off cos they were having one of their sale days. So, 4 nice new bras for the grand sum of £12.80! I got a couple of other much nicer fancier ones, but they were more expensive and I've decided I'll take those back until I see how much more or if my boobs will shrink any more. They're masses bigger than before I was pg, I was a C/D cup then. But like LadyBee, they're much softer and mine appear to have lost some stuffing too. Attractive!

Just been to Ikea to buy some plates & bowls for the NCT joint party. Paper plates are around £2.99 for 8. Ikea sell colourful ones in the childrens department, 6 for £1.09! Bowls and cups the same. So I made the executive decision to get them instead and everyone can take some home at the end, rather than spending a fortune on paper ones and them being thrown away. Bit small for adults, but we'll just have to refill a few times! Plus more environmentally friendly of course...

ScorpiowithabigS · 08/03/2009 16:42

i have very small boobs so i don't have to spend loads on bras and just get them from new look/topshop mostly.

Had roast dinenr out, yay, no cooking! Went for a drive to Land's End too, see some scenery.

I still think Knobber is the best word ever!

Feeling a little blue about my lost baby lately but DH is letting me vent on him

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 17:05

I'm still amazed / shocked every time when I see a disposable product costing more than "proper" ones. It's just wrong, isn't it?

Scorpio, glad your dh understands that you need him to be supportive. It is good that you can talk about it / realise why you're sad. There's nothing I can actually say to change anything of course, but please talk about it whenever you want if you feel like it. I'm strange with things like this - most of the time I'd rather not talk about things that broke my heart and that you can't change (e.g. my brother's death years ago etc), but occasionally you just want to say you're hurting and that you haven't forgotten.

Peachy · 08/03/2009 18:58

Scorpio

I'm a sot of middling ra size now but was A cup before ds1 (think I am a 38C atm, but still BF). Am going tos eriously start thinking about weiht lossnow thougha s Bas turning intoa real chubber ; started taking my iron supplements proerly my milk supply doubled (poor Bas lol) and bruises / exhaustion / silly appetite vanising. Yay!

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/03/2009 20:09

I had small boobs pre baby, then they shrunk a size while I was pregnant, and now they are huge! I've gone from being a 36C, to a 34B and am now a 36DD!!! How?!?!

Peachy - interesting what you are saying about your iron - you could be describing me - although must check - when you say silly appetite - what do you mean?

Took Gigi to an animal farm today - she loved it!! Hee hee have to say I loved it too - cute little furry things!!!

LOVE the word knobber!! It is an excellent word and just sounds sooo much better than knob! I think I shall use it too!!

Oooh Knitter - great site!! Will show DH it too - such fab prices and we are always going on about how we should spend more time exploring this country!!

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 20:27

Ladybee, if you have a second, would you mind forwarding me the details of your dentist? I've just checked, and my maternity exemption expires on the 5th of Apr. They might not even take in any extra NHS patients, in which case I'll just go private, but thought I might as well give it a try. Thank you very much. You can mail to
sal - ens - lin -AT yahoo dot com if you don't want to link it on here. Thank you so much.

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 20:29

MommyHasaH - which one did you go to? I planned to take R today but stayed in in the end, hoping that he'll get over this annoying cold some time this century, poor thing. Did you take any pics? I want to see, pretty please???

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/03/2009 21:19

We went to one near us - Xmas Tree Farm in Downe. Pictures posted on FB!

Peachy · 08/03/2009 21:39

Bas is having a birthday picnic at an animafarm, ionly family / godparents but seemed right (massive indoor playbarn that they heat so will be OK whatever).

By silly appetite I mean I gained a stone whilst BF- actually weighed more than at term . Still BF loads but sudden.ly not constantly snaffling. I knew my iron was very low when PG (there were mumbling about transfusions- eek) and a few weeks back started getting big (5 inch ) bruises for no reason; started on my pregaday leftovers but have now got spatone sachets and will keep taking it.

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/03/2009 22:02

We were thinking of having Gigi's 1st birthday at the animal farm too, but they charge £8.50 a child for entry, a pail of animal food and a plate of food for the child, and quite frankly i don't think any of the babies we invite will be eating sandwiches, etc yet, so we have put it off until her 2nd birthday. Now trying to think of ideas - we live in a small house with a teeeny tiny garden (well concrete patch more like), so having it at our place won't work , so trying to find/steal ideas of others. What are the rest of you doing?

Peachy - I reckon that's my prob too - same as you with bruising, tiredness and hectic appetite - will get some spatone tomorrow. Took it in my pregnancy so I know about it.

Peachy · 08/03/2009 22:06

We're not doing the paid for option- covering entrance and a bag of food and taking a picnic. Far easier LOL.

Wish ahd sussed about iron earlier on, Bas has gained massively in the last few weeks and maybe I could have saved a lot of stress

SalLikesCoffee · 08/03/2009 22:20

What a great idea, Peachy.

MommyHasaH, I've got no idea whatsoever. Have considered not doing anything , but that would probably be unfair towards him one day when he wants to look at his first birthday pics, wouldn't it?!

My problem is that I can't do indoors at ours (too small), and whilst we could do in the park just outside our door etc, I'm afraid I won't know what to do if it rains! Ok, you lot tell me - is it ok to only invite 3 or 4 other babies? Oh, the stress, lol.
