I'm sorry TSC but even the thought of a long-haul flight with 2 kids doesn't put me off drooling over the idea of a hol somewhere fabulous. So am still

Scorpio - you should come to GC with Denny then we could all get together Hey, have just had a thought - could set up a Mumsnet B&B affair, very reasonable rates offered Think DH might have something to say about that though

TheShipsCat · 16/02/2009 15:07

Have you thought about a house swap, Scorpio?

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/02/2009 15:51

Only if i really knew the other person....but, yes, i would.

Soph73 · 16/02/2009 16:13

Scorpio - maybe that's something we could do next year when DH gets this fabulous job ... see I'm still positive thinking However, Scorpio, the state our house is in at the moment then you wouldn't want to stop here Maybe if I looked into house swapping I'd actually get my own looking clean .... nah, doubt it

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/02/2009 16:27

Soph73 · 16/02/2009 16:31

OP posts:
ScorpiowithabigS · 16/02/2009 16:32

Only if you look after mine

chipmonkey · 16/02/2009 16:35

Actuually, soph, why don't you just get scorpio to come over and clean for 2 weeks? Sorted!

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/02/2009 16:35

ooh yes that sounds like fun!

Soph73 · 16/02/2009 16:48

What a fab idea chipmonkey Yes, I'll look after your cat scorpio, no probs. Well, that's next years holiday planned One thing though Scorpio you cannot paint anything pink while you're visiting

Got to go for now. See you all tomorrow

Come and see meeeeeee scorpio!

I HATE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

The only good thing about going back to work is that will no longer be around to cover the hols

Today I took DSD out for a walk in the morning to take some photos for a photo competition she's in and then she went to a cricket course in the afternoon, which she loved. She was allowed a couple foodie treats today as was first day of hols which she liked too. Why oh why then did she spend the rest of the day moaning at me?

This is the list of things I did wrong:

  1. I wouldn't make her lunch the moment she wanted it (had to put baby down for nap, plus was only 11.45!)
  2. I wouldn't make her peas and gravy with her dinner, which she wanted rather than baked beans, which was on offer
  3. I wouldn't let her mix the batter for the toad in the hole (was in a rush and needed to do quickly and cleanly)
  4. When I gave her a hug my shoulder went in her eye apparently and it wasn't comfy
  5. I wouldn't let her read me long boring sections of her Charlie Brown cartoon book

She's gone to bed now, moaning that it's too early, but does not realise if she's stays up longer I may throttle her.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/02/2009 21:42

Ellie, that just made me laugh! Hell, I'll even stop moaning for the moment - you sound like you've got a tough time with a little miss teenager on your hands! The hug one was especially funny. Sorry, can't help myself!

This house swopping thing sounds loverly. I've got a filthy flat needing paint in the main bedroom... any takers???

Talking of messy business... Have to go clean up as parents-in-law arrive tomorrow morning. I have to change my attitude, else it's going to be a looooooooooooooooong two weeks. I just don't know how, but really have to. The thing is, they're good people, so just getting my head around what happened last time. Urgh.

LadyBee · 16/02/2009 21:44

oh dear.
oh dear.
Oh dear.

I'm just practicing for future school holidays when apparently mums can not do anything right. Sounds like she was generally pee-ed off about not being with friends or something and decided that it was All Your Fault.

Courage! Chin Up!

LadyBee · 16/02/2009 21:49

BabyBee has the lurgy with the streaming nose and gunky eye. He is currently trying to cough up a lung...poor bean.
And our boiler has decided definitely not to work now...thankfully it's not absolutely freezing, just bl**dy cold. Have got people coming on Wednesday - will be boiling kettles and hiding under blankets til then.
Gotta run, little boy protesting.

PeachyHasABrokenKeyboardSorry · 16/02/2009 22:20

Bas has thew lurgies too, chest infection I think so GP tomorrow poor baby. Like croup but with the noises yet no coughing.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/02/2009 22:37

Oh poor little babies! Would it perhaps help if you leave a facial steamer or something (or boiling kettle?) on for a couple of minutes in their rooms?

Have had (shop bought as I'm lazy) moussaka for dinner. Was nice. Now tired and flat still a mess.

PeachyHasABrokenKeyboardSorry · 16/02/2009 22:43

we had stir ry but we're gradually getting on toop of the housework

however we'll see how long that lasts

got a birthday party catalogue through for bas today- . want to do something with my family in somerset not sure what though

chipmonkey · 16/02/2009 23:50

Why about the birthday, Peachy? Because your baby's getting older? Think of it this way, the older he gets the closer you get to having grandkids!

PeachyHasABrokenKeyboardSorry · 17/02/2009 09:18

pmsl cm

very true. well, better be lol!

ScorpiowithabigS · 17/02/2009 10:26

Ellie - sounds like you are perfecting being an evil step mummy

I don't want to paint all of your houses! Just Soph's, all pink!

Feeling happy today.

ScorpiowithabigS · 17/02/2009 10:27

I too am sad about Mimi getting to be a bigger girl. Its only 2 months now until i have a 1 year old!

SalLikesCoffee · 17/02/2009 13:52

Oh Scorpio, but I'm closer than Soph!!! And I've already done one wall and everything...

Chipmonkey, noooooo, only old people have grandchildren, and we're practically still teenagers

Eating sushi for lunch. Is nice. Might copy Peachy's stirfry for dinner.

ScorpiowithabigS · 17/02/2009 14:32

I am a teenager (actually i am old now)
