Hello.

Trace I went with your idea!!

Did any of you watch the final of university challenge last week? I can't believe Corpus Christi have been disqualified. They were brilliant.

Really looking forward to Crufts on Saturday. Only one small problem though, our camera we got for xmas stopped working so it was sent back to Panasonic and we haven't got it back yet. I'm hoping it'll be back in time so I can take it but I'm not holding out much hope. Got a very early morning.

I promised myself that I would have acryllic nails done after having DS2 as I had them done for my wedding and loved them. Well DH told me something I hadn't thought of earlier. I don't think I will be able to change nappies and dress the boys very easily with long nails.

Hope you all get plenty of sleep.

cat you have my sympathy - get a Dr's opinion as you sound a bit like me. I seem to be 'crashing' PND-wise, as it's getting worse and worse. I hope the tablets kick in soon. Dr says I should wait another week and see. DH almost took day off work this am as I'm in such a mess after three night wakings (he did 8pm and 10pm so I at least got some sleep).

Almost can't bear to read about everyone's perfect, sleeping, babies. I have been assured that one five-hour stretch and then multiple wakings is normal, but you lot all seem to have babies that sleep longer than that and I feel such a failure in comparison.

wg is there anything in the hotmail help? a contact no? v scary to have that happen - never heard of someone hijacking yr email before. hope it gets sorted soon.

Verso · 03/03/2009 07:59

to explain, i was up at 1.40, 2.30 and 5.20

Cat - big hugs to you. There really should be a huggy emoticon. A trip to the doctor sounds like a good plan. Hope it goes ok and you get the support you need. Does T sleep at all in the evening? I often go to bed at 8ish, just to get some rest/sleep before the next waking - any chance you could do that before express-o-clock?

Verso - mega hugs to you too. I assure my baby never does more than a five hour stint initially (last night it was 3) then she goes back to 2 hourly for the rest of the 24 hours. Far from sleeping through! I described her 'pattern' ( if you can call it that) to the HV and she said it was completely normal for that age - so be reassured. (that smile was meant as a friendly, supportive smile, not an 'isn't this amusing' smile!)

Am still obsessing about small heads and am now convincing myself that P is developmentally delayed. Some one slap me please

kayzr · 03/03/2009 09:38

Morning,

Cat and Verso Sorry you are having such a horrible time of it. I really hope that your LOs start sleeping better for you soon. Cat I hope that a visit to the DR will be able to help you. Verso I hope your tablets kick in soon and start to work.

Trace Head measurements must mean more to HV's in York. DS2's head measurement was 38 at birth and he has never been done since despite seeing HV 3 times.

I am forward planning and trying to find a type of dress I can where for our anniversary meal. Only 4 months to pick one

LadyT the Fairy Garden sounds fab. DD would love it and it's not too far from where we live. I've spoken to DH and we'll ttry to go once the weather improves.

Trace listen to JJ and try not to worry about P's head measurement. I know it's easier said than done. Googling should definitely come with a health warning!

Turnip I've considered the coil too but yesterday I booked DH in to see his GP to discuss having the snip . We are happy to stick at two. I'm getting on and DH was very concerned to hear that my sister is expecting her fourth child (and second happy accident). Sorry that L is not happy after her jabs. Hope the druks hit the spot.

WG very concerned to hear about your email. I haven't heard of that happening before but hope you manage to sort it out.

Cat and Verso so sorry you are having a difficult time of it. Cat do see the doctor and take the anti-depressants if the doctor prescribes them. I've not had pnd but have had clinical depression in the past and the drugs really helped.

We finally managed to book DS's baptism yesterday. We have been trying to set the date since the end of January! We have settled on 17 May so may be able to also arrange my 40th birthday celebration to fit in with friends and family being around. I was joking with my mum the other day that my nightmare job would be events organizer so maybe arranging a double celebration weekend might finish me off.

Those of you who have had/are having little boys baptised and haven't gone for the frilly gown, what outfit did you go for? I'm trying to find something not made of slinky shiny silk/satin and it's not easy. If I can't find anything, I'll have to settle for the family gown, if he will still fit in it come May, but I'm worried that he'll look silly. What do you think? I've put a photo on my profile for today only as I haven't asked the model's permission!

LadyThompson · 03/03/2009 09:57

Cat, this may sound like a daft idea but have you tried wearing foam earplugs? It may sound a bit inhumane but they have been a lifesaver for me as I am a light sleeper at the best of times, and what they do is muffle the small sounds that you don't need to hear but are disturbing you (I've got one of those chatty babies and she blibbers and blabbers and coos even at night, and it's sweet but can drive one quite nutty in the small hours), but any actual crying breaks through and wakes you up. They also muffle DP's snoring a treat

Sorry you are still feeling bad, Verso, and I really hope the tablets kick in soon...The way babies sleep is SO random (otherwise how could siblings be so different in their sleep patterns) so it's absolutely NO reflection on you. I don't actually think many people on here have babies that sleep for hours at end at night and besides which, I think any sort of comparisons with others, not just about babies but about anything at all, are a waste of time and simply drive one mad. There's always someone richer/thinner/more successful and if you waste valuable energy and time mulling over it, it's only going to make you discontented and prevent you seeing the richness and specialness of your own life. Seriously, knock it on the head. You've got two beautiful daughters and a job you love, to which you will be returning fairly soon. Something to look forward to, non? Bugger what your DH says and let your Mum do one night a week so you can get some kip. When you're tired everything seems crap and perspective goes out the window. Hope things improve.

jumpjockey · 03/03/2009 10:00

cat and verso so sorry you're both feeling bad at the moment, and sorry to make things worse with dd's absolute one off long sleep, last night was back to normal (every hour and a half after midnight) an i'm sure the difference is just because she's a bit older than your LOs. Cat definitely worth a trip to the doctor to see if you can get any help.

turnip hope the druks worked, dd has her second set on weds and am dreading it, dh came with us last time for moral support but this time it's just me and her

wg yikes! no idea i'm afraid but i'm sure there must be a mn area for techies who can help

dd yelling, had put her in her rocker but now she's bored and says mummy gove me attention! catch up later

LadyThompson · 03/03/2009 10:06

Nolda, if you go for the gown for him, he will look very regal, I think, and not silly at all. The royal christening gown is very frothy and it's good enough for that lot!

Ooh yes, do go and see the fairies. The fairy garden is in the model village at Corfe. I was entranced at 36! It's fun to try to spot them.

Oh yes, and Trace, it sounds completely like your DD is just taking after you but I am sure it's worrying.

Turnip, I hope little L is feeling better and sorry your DH is down in the dumps...I love Alfie's Antiques, I nearly bought a flat right near there once but it fell through.

Kayz, I think your anniversary is going to be lovely. What sort of dress do you fancy?

kayzr · 03/03/2009 10:09

I'd love a maxi dress but I think it might be a bit difficult getting on and off a train. I'm hoping to be a size 12 by July.

OP posts:
Nolda · 03/03/2009 10:20

Kayz what colours suit you and what's your budget? I love internet window shopping !

kayzr · 03/03/2009 10:28

I have no idea what colour suits me. I'm going to say my budget is up to £50 so I can save up for it.

OP posts:
rosmerta · 03/03/2009 10:38

Nolda, I think the gown's lovely, otherwise you can get some nice little suits. Ds1 (& ds2) will be wearing a satiny gown which was made from my wedding dress!

Ladyt, congratulations on the house!

Cat & verso, sorry things aren't getting any better. Cat, I think its definitely worth seeing your dr & the earplugs suggestion from ladyt sounds like a good idea. Verso, hope the drugs start to work soon [hugs] to you both

Oli, we didn't go to Kew in the end. Ds1 changed his mind & opted for the soft play!

How is everyone? I just put Babytv on for ds2 & he loved it, it was great being able to take 10mins to sort out some washing without him crying his little eyes out!

Right must go to the library, have some very overdue books

kayzr · 03/03/2009 10:53

I love this dress but will never be able to pull it off.

Also this dress

OP posts:
kayzr · 03/03/2009 10:54

DH has just said the second one looks like a bin liner.

OP posts:
Nolda · 03/03/2009 11:24

Kayz lol at the bin liner remark. Asos have some cheaper maxi dresses maxi dresses but looking at the ones you have linked in perhaps not the shape you are looking for. There are some lovely ones at Coast but they are v pricey.

Verso · 03/03/2009 12:41

jj I didn't realise your baby is older than mine. (Dd2 was born on 25 November)

Thanks, everyone, for your support. I'm sure the tablets will kick in eventually and then things won't look so bleak. Took Dd2 to baby clinic this morning and one thing is that her weight is great - she's still gaining 8oz a week, which they're really pleased with.

Came home to a rather garbled message on my answerphone though - from one of the HVs wondering whether I was wanting to wean to a bottle (?!). I hadn't said anything of the sort this morning but I suppose they're all "concerned" about me or something and have been talking. I will give them a call back and try to see what on earth they're on about. Given that the breastfeeding seems to be the one thing I'm any good at I think it would be stupid to stop!

rosmerta · 03/03/2009 13:13

Verso, how odd! I wonder if your HV's are the sort that once a baby gets to a certain age they should be taking a bottle?!

Nolda I really like some of those black maxi dresses on asos. I did look on Monsoon and they have some lovely dresses but about 3 times my budget.
