oh and kazy those sledging piccies are sooo cute!

zoejeanne · 12/02/2009 20:10

I love that we have a baby crush, its so sweet [soppy] ? hurrah for SL and JJ?s babies and for love in time for valentines day.

Kayz I?ve read your thread about camping and have you sent an email, as I might know where you can find some info and some useful people. I think it sounds like an interesting idea. And Freddie looks like he?s having so much fun on his sledge! I had quite a hairy drive home this afternoon (had only gone 3 miles) so I?m pleased to be inside curled up by a fire ? and I?ve just heard there?s 150 vehicles stranded in the snow in our neck of the roads, very glad one is not me and DD.

LadyT its illegal to pick up roadkill that you?ve killed yourself , but you can pick up something that someone else has killed. I suggest your DP gets rid of the stolen goods immediately

Going to take DD to bed now, night everyone xx

Veggiemummy · 12/02/2009 20:26

Is that true ZJ? Is that so people don't go around running over animals for their dinner.

Evening all, we have snow here too! Looks gorgeous, not so good when the bus didn't turn up and I had to walk home in it for half an hour but I did try and get dd excited about it, again she just looked at it and went "yeah? and?"

re the crush - well, she is obviously the most beautiful girl baby ever to be born so poor SL's ds couldn't help himself! She was far more intersted in Brad Pitt, perhaps aiming a little high...!

LadyT yuk, how on earth are you meant to cover a pheasant with a pair of flip flops? Just how big are your DP's feet? Hope it's tasty in the end and worth the grossness.

trace hope the ab's are working by now, ouch [hug] and glad your row turned out positive in the end.

Nolda poor ds, lots of hugs is a good cure for the general distress but really hope his leg's better. [biff] to the nurse.

daisy am v impressed that you get time to yourself every day I had an hour and a half yesterday at the gym and sat in the sauna and the hot tub just being relaxed, it was loively. And DH is taking next weds off work so I can have a whole day off duty apart from feeding. I asked him every day for a week to look at the work leave diary as I really needed some "annual leave" and he finally got the point that yes, I was serious!

Veggiemummy · 12/02/2009 21:00

I'm so glad dh coming back tonight. Very hectic evening. Ds2 was really unsettled as he didn't have any full sleeps during the day, is getting over this lurgy and also had cranio today. The osteopath said he might he a bit grumpy, but that was an understatement, he was royally pissed off. He grizzled and grizzled so I took him up for an early bath leaving ds1 with a spring rolls I had luckily made and had leftover from the last night and some scrambled eggs. It was the only thing I could whip up for his tea while still holding ds1. He calmed down in the bath, he really loves his bath but soon got grizzly again so got him out dressed him while he screamed blue murder then fed him between screams and then held and bobbed and down with him between sorting ds1 out with his bath. Finally ds2 settled and I was able to read to ds1 and settle him to bed. I guess I'm lucky normally as I can usually co-ordinate their bedtimes buy I knew a night would have to come along when soothing ds2 and getting ds1's tea and bath/bedtime was going to be a bit more difficult. Usually we all have a bath together then J & I get out and leave ds1 on to enjoy his bath toys while I settle ds2 then read to ds1 in our room while i rock ds2s cot then send him off to his own bed and then come in once ds2 is asleep and turn the light off and give him a kiss. Thankfully ds1 is 3.5 years and can do so much himself bless him. I need to give him big cuddles tomorrow though as I was a bit snappy with him today.

Trace I have the same problem with the daily drop off and pick up interrupting ds2s sleeps. Ds1 goes to nursery from 9-12. Most times ds2 falls asleep on the way home from nursery then wakes later and has a little. But if he sleeps a little longer in the morning and then goes to sleep again too close to midday I have to disturb him to pick up ds1. Poor little man he gets so dragged about.

jumpjockey · 12/02/2009 21:05

Oh and that villa looks gorgeous... I'm also v taken with the one that mumsnet advertises, the french chateau. Oh for a few million to take all of us and our families there for the summer hols!

Turniphead1 · 12/02/2009 21:12

jump congrats on getting some me time. You deserve it (as we all do!)

Veggiemummy · 12/02/2009 21:14

Turnip- I think there is supposed to be a bit of problem with using dummies when bfing because they don't get so good at opening their mouths wide to take a good mouthful of boob. So I def waited 6 weeks before introducing the dummy and when he went through a snacking stage that wasn't associated with a growth spurt I distracted him with the dummy to space the feeds to at least 3 hours and then he would drain the whole boob. Has worked a treat as I had been quite a few blocked ducts and sore boobs. I just make sure when giving him the boob that I put the very tip of his nose near my nipple that means he really has to stretch his mouth open wide to reach my nipple. He seems now to have worked out which is for feeding and which is for soothing. I think it is important to persist when using the dummy and being strict with making sure they open there mouths wide fir the boob instead of reverting to the smaller mouth they use to suck the dummy. I think the BfN that I am doing that course with don't advise using a dummy because it can result in not bfing as long. But I'm going to persist and sure it will be fine.

Veggiemummy · 12/02/2009 21:17

Sorry I think I used a 'there' instead of a 'their' during that last post.

Turniphead1 · 12/02/2009 21:18

Veggie that's very good info. Thanks so much. Hope you got some rest. It sounds like a tough day. You do so well when your DH is away - it must be very tough. Take care. Can't wait to see you on tuesday too - and your little men!

Veggiemummy · 12/02/2009 21:46

Do you know it doesn't matter how long he is away for I always seem to lose patience on the day he is coming back.

Will be lovely to meet you Turnip, I've lost the meet up thread can someone link it for me. Right I am supposed to be studying, currently have a baby attached but once he is done I have to do some work. I have my final assesment on the 23rd hooray.

Have just put ds2 down in his cot after his feed and he sounds like a motorbike starting up and reving how is it such huge farts come from such tiny bottoms?

Turniphead1 · 12/02/2009 21:53

North london meet up meetup
the farting is so funny!

kmp1 · 12/02/2009 23:34

Turnip - @ "master-expresser" Why do you think that? I have started expressing once in the morning and once at night But I freeze the morning one and give him the late one last feed. If he sleeps at least 6 or 7 hours, I feed him at about 7am (give or take)as I will be rock hard by then! I feed him from one side and after that I express the other side and usually get between 4-5oz(max)but usually more like 4 and a half, and only if it's rock hard first! In the late afternoon / evening usually about 4oz at a push! it wasn't that much at first but if I expressed even once it instantly felt like I was making more

kmp1 · 12/02/2009 23:35

however I really don't feel like I'm able to express all that much since my friend does 6oz per boob!
Is anyone on thr mini pill?

daisydora · 13/02/2009 07:52

kmp i'm on the mini pill.

DS pretty good again last night. In bed for 8, he woke at 12 for a feed but then nothing till 6, and he is currently still asleep Although DD is getting a little worked up that he isn't up yet and keeps shouting upstairs "Harry do you want breast-fooding?" Its so cute

kayzr · 13/02/2009 07:54

Morning.

We decided to go to bed at half 10 last night instead of the half 11 we have normally been going to bed. DS2 woke up at quarter to 3 and again at half 5. I think we'll just have to get used to it though as I can't keep going to bed so late only for DS1 to wake us up early.

We still have loads of snow, someone has beheaded the giant snowman the kids on our road built!!

We going to Scarborough today, the buses are still running but with delays so hopefully it isn't too bad.

OP posts:
waitinggirl · 13/02/2009 08:21

love the breast-fooding!!!

anyone else got their period already??? am bfeeding and thoughrt i'd have at least a few months off (apols if have already posted a bout this - can't remember) but alas...

kmp1 · 13/02/2009 08:25

daisy you still get your period on the mini pill right? (when it eventually comes back) reason being - I want to take it but I also want to know when I would have resumes periods / ovulating again etc if you see what I mean?
Keep trying to put ds in bed earlier with no success... Fed at 630p then gave last feed of expressed milk (at least 4&1/2oz) at 930pm then changed, swaddled etc but he's always wide awake between about 9pm-11pm???? Any thoughts? Its just like just he knows we are still up and wants to be out where the action is?? (well just us being cheerful, watching Greys A, American Idol etc!)
should I "fake" us going to bed? Or keep him up during the day more?

daisydora · 13/02/2009 09:16

kmp I haven't had my period yet on yhe mini pill. I took it when I was bf DD and iirc it was about 4 months before I had any type of bleed and even then it was much lighter and not like a proper period at all. In fact my periods only returned properly when I stopped bf.

No advice re: ds sleeping earlier. DS is 12 weeks on monday and still has times when he just won't sleep in an evening, and if he's awake more in the day it makes him worse as he gets over tired and won't settle iyswim. Is he asleep between 6.30-9.30? I try to give last feed at 7.30 ish and he has been taking it as his last feed fo past few nights. But I do have to try and make sure he has a sleep about 5ish or he won't last that long and it all goes wrong.

I've given up on trying to establish a routine and am trying to go with the flow (not like me at all) and to be fair to DS he is better for not being pushed...typical man bloody stubborn.

kmp1 · 13/02/2009 09:33

well last night after he fed at 630p he slept for about an hour but then he was awake and would sleep off and on only if we kept bouncing / rocking him in his chair etc which gets tiring but that was it until about 915-930 when I gave him that bottle and he downed the lot and then decided no way am I sleeping in the cot etc, but I don't know if he "knew" we were not in bed near him or was the reason he wouldn't sleep just because it was earlier and he is use to going down later at 11 ish? I will try and "fake" us going to bed earlier tonight and see if that works! His cot is in our room but in a seperate kind of area (a walk through bit that has shower room attached to other side) so he can hear us but not see us iyswim? We have a tv in our room so usually when he is down for the night he can hear that on faintly, so I could put that on etc and pretend we are in the bedroom too although he can probably smell that we aren't?

kmp1 · 13/02/2009 10:09

WG when did yours come back? Are you on any pill?

Veggiemummy · 13/02/2009 10:31

aaaaahhhhhh so tired poor little ds2 was up pretty much al night I think he is either a but snuffly after the jabs or just has a little bug. He just wouldn't settle even in with me. Dh went in to sleep in ds1s room. He has continued to be unsettled all morning and I've just put him down for a sleep now. Like me he does love to sleep and eat and I can see him getting frustrated as he can't seem to do either. Have put some olbas on his sheet now and will buy some karvol later. Thank goodness dh is home as he got ds2 up and took him to nursery and has taken Leo to the cattery. I think I need coffee.

I can't remember what I just of the the mornings postings so therefore can't remember what I was going to say.

waitinggirl · 13/02/2009 10:45

kmp - on no pills and got some bleeding 6 1/2 weeks post birth. it is v light and comes and goes. just thgought i'd be free of periods for a while...

kmp1 · 13/02/2009 11:08

WGOh ok, are you planning on a dc2 in the future? Mine hasn't come back and I assume it won't while I'm BF...
