Sorry to hear your sad news Neenz, (((hugs)))

Congrats Abdn

DebInAustria · 13/02/2009 09:26

won't be long with the crawling then Neenz

neenztwinz · 13/02/2009 09:36

Oh joy

systemsaddict · 13/02/2009 09:46

sorry for your loss Neenz

AliandHerScallywag · 13/02/2009 09:50

Neenz sorry to hear about your Nan. Will be thinking of you and your family.

pureeandpearls · 13/02/2009 10:13

Neenz- so sorry to hear about your nan, blessing though it may be. Thinking of you and your family.

And thanks for the thoughts on signing- I assumed babypearls thinks I'm being a pushy mum and ignores me

Amberc · 13/02/2009 10:48

Hi All - congrats Aberdeen!

I hope you are all right about the standing/sitting thing. Mark is paranoid about the baby jitting his head and I have told him he needs to get used to it as it's going to happen a lot!

Here is a link to my little soldier having a go at crawling - shouldn't take much longer - guess I have to start the baby proofing!

Luke attempting to crawl

DebInAustria · 13/02/2009 10:57

Oh Amber - so sweet

Amberc · 13/02/2009 10:58

Oh sorry Neenz - just read the other page - so sorry about your nan xx

Amberc · 13/02/2009 10:59

PS Neenz - i'll have a go at putting Luke in his cot standing up - good idea.

pureeandpearls · 13/02/2009 11:28

Amber- that's brilliant. What a clever little boy!!!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/02/2009 11:48

neenz sorry about your grandmother and hard though it is, it must be relief in some ways.

DVD dropped it when lodaing up children in dark, didn't realise and ran over it.

Have just been and bought a romantic meal for 4 from Waitrose - bargain - wish it was only the 2 of us but DH's nephew has invited himself and his girlfriend, which means they get our room and we get the playroom floor. Happy Valentines Day.

PenguinProject · 13/02/2009 12:10

Neenz - Sorry for your loss.

Aberdeen - Congrats. Just 6 PHDs!

Amber - I meant to say in my last post that it is fantastic news about your sister. So happy for her after all she's been through.

Dramaqueen - Percentiles p me off. HV and DH getting worried because Ry has a small head on the percentiles. Couldn't give me any reason why that would be a problem (big heads can be) except low IQ. Well my boy is pretty so he doesn't need to be intelligent...! And he can always hang around with brainy bi-lingual Iestyn.

Actually with the PND overthinking is my problem, so low IQ and less thinking could be a blessing...

P&P - M&S had a half price baby signing book the other week and altho it's fascinating reading (the sign for I love you is the 'Rock On' sign facing the other way), Ry isn't remotely interested.

Amber - Uh-oh, how's the babyproofing going?

5 - Cheeky nephew! We did the £20 deal from M&S for valentines day. Speaking of which we have a £5 limit on presents, any ideas anyone? Bloody V day comes less than 2 weeks after DH's bday, so I can never think of anything.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/02/2009 12:13

AH congratulations, try the student out and if it doesn't work then you haven't lost anything. FWIW I did a lot of voluntary work when I was at college to build up experience so they could be fine.

systemsaddict · 13/02/2009 12:19

tired .... tired .... tired ....

Did the feed-in-the-chair again last night. Every 1.5 hours from 10.30 onwards. It's definitely a sleep-cycle thing, each time she hits light sleep she wants me to feed her back to sleep. On the plus side, she is extremely willing to go straight back to sleep in her cot after the feed, so it is actually a step in the right direction away from feeding her in bed and getting stuck with her with us all night.

My next plan is to turn the heating right off in the bedroom so it's an icebox at night, so it becomes increasingly less pleasant for her to wake and feed. Less pleasant for me too of course but hopefully this will be short term. Eventually I am hoping the incentive of staying asleep and snuggly warm in the cot will win out.

She woke dp up each time last night too, it's more disruptive for him if I get up as well, he had to take another day off work sick as he nearly passed out this morning trying to get ready - probably a good thing given that he's been really poorly but she isn't helping his convalescence any!

Still, the cat is happy she gets to co-sleep with me again now there is some space in the bed....

bitofadramaqueen · 13/02/2009 12:35

Afternoon all, on my iPod so keeping it soft.

Thanks all for weight reassurance, he is putting on weight just dropping down the Gentiles from 75 - under 25 now. It's reassuring to know others been through the same.

Neenz sorry about your nan.

abdnhiker · 13/02/2009 13:02

neenz - sorry about your grandma - hope you're feeling okay today. Even when it's a blessing, it's still really hard on those who love them and are left behind!

5 what? you have to give up your bedroom? no!!!! I don't let any of our guests, including parents and in-laws take my bed!

Amberc · 13/02/2009 13:07

Blimey systems -puts my sleep problems into perspective! Hope it works out for you.

PP - no baby proofing done yet. Better get on with it though eh?

pureeandpearls · 13/02/2009 13:10

BDQ Gentiles?

5 we have in-laws here for V day so send our sympathy. Agree that if they invited themselves they should take the playroom though.

Systems you poor thing. Hope your plan wrks so you can all get a good nights sleep.

Penguin what about a GIANT pack of.......Creme Eggs?! DH and I had a limit when we first met so I bought him some lovely massage oils thinking it would be very romantic. Found them still unwrapped when we move house with babypearls. Not such a good idea after all...

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 13/02/2009 13:19

Neenz - sorry about your grandma.

I feel really greedy as yesterday I bought the M&S £20 meal and today went to waitrose and bout their £10 one. To be fair the M&S one is for tommorow and the girls will be at thier gp's for the night and the waitrose one is for tonight. The girls will have the pasta starter for dinner and dp and I will have the yummy sounding fishpie - I won't say what has already happened to the tiramisGu!

neenztwinz · 13/02/2009 13:37

Amber, that is such a cute vid! Luke has such a grown-up face don't you think? You have inspired me to show off get one of the twins and upload it onto YouTube.

5GoMad - yes very cheeky of your DH's nephew. If they invited themselves I'd give them the playroom floor. We have a bottle of champagne for Val Day and are going to get Chinese banquet from a really nice restaurant near here. The food will cost £33! But we'd have spent £60 or £70 going out which we would have done if we'd had a b'sitter (but DH's parents have gone away - the cheek of it when we needed them to b'sit!). I have bought DH a mug which says 'I love you' all over it - it was £2.99. I had to remind him the other day that it was Val Day 'which means you have to organise getting me a card - and that doesn't mean going out on Saturday morning to get one'

Systems, sorry you had such a bad night. Have you tried offering water instead? What happens if you just give her a cuddle then put her back down? This worked with T the other night and I was quite shocked cos I normally have to feed him. Every 1.5hrs is torture!

I also agree with PP about the centiles. Small head my arse - what can you do about it anyway, they just make you worry for no reason. My attitude has always been that as long as they are not losing weight and seem happy and nappies are fine then there is nothing to worry about - when they get to our age they will be struggling to keep the weight off. No one stays 20lb forever!!

lol Going about the dessert! We have mountains of cake left from the baptism last week and it is all in our freezer - very tempting to scoff it all!

Amberc · 13/02/2009 13:46

Luke never seemed to have a babyish face to be honest. Someone thought he was 18 months the other day when he was all bagged up in his cozy toes and they could only see his face!!

neenztwinz · 13/02/2009 14:03

I am not surprised! He is very handsome

neenztwinz · 13/02/2009 14:03

You not at work today Amber?

neenztwinz · 13/02/2009 14:06

I have just had the freakiest experience, just went to check on DTs and T was lied in his cot very still, I can usually hear him breathing from the door but couldn't hear anything so I went in, got to the side of the cot and he was just lied there very still with his eyes open, he didn't even look at me. I put my hand on his chest and he was breathing but he still never looked at me! I just walked out, he still hasn;t made a sound, i assume he has just gone back to sleep! Wierdo child.
