Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LoveaDAISYcal · 20/02/2009 21:47

I think BP can cause headaches, but that it has to be extremely high for it to do so. Worth asking the question of your MW or GP though. I suffered from headaches in the first and secind trimesters of all my pregnancies, but think some of it may have been sinus related; you know that stuffy way pregnancy makes you.

Poor DD sputnik , she is really going through it.

DD is choked with the cold at the minute as well. she had another mega tantrum today over not being allowed to have a huge bag of buttons when I took a few out for her. So I put her to bed and she went to sleep. she woke up nearly an hour later and carried on the tantrum

keepingitRia · 20/02/2009 22:52

stress could be it natty.

poor DD sputnik.

I have a question if anyone's still about. DH has a fair bit of stuff to collect from his ex-job. His knives should be ok (although he didn't leave his box locked), as should his books and other little bits of kit, but he has flan dishes and stuff there. If they are using them when he goes to collect his stuff, is he within his rights to take them out of theoven, empty the stuff out and bring them home? Or will he have to arrange another time as that would be criminal damamge? I have suggested he takes a member of the security team in with him when he goes.

DM rang earlier - how does she know??? I didn't let on though, but we only have a week to sort it out - I thought they were away longer!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/02/2009 01:08

Sorry Ria, I have no idea about DH's legal rights and stuff. I also know nothing about the catering industry, but is that normal for a chef to have his own equipment being used at his (or her) employer's work? I'm not surprised by the knives, but dishes etc seems surprising to me - like the employer is too flipping stingy to kit out the kitchen properly!

Daisy - lol at is it legal for them to teach us? And it wasn't exactly legal, but there were legal implications. We were being trained for working in an emergency (if for example one of the nuclear stations went bang, or if there was another terrorist attack like July 7th, or if there was a major chemical disaster, or something else with serious health implications). The point was that we (the organisation) would need to have robust records of what information we had, what decisions were made, and what action was taken so that if there was a public enquiry or we were sued the records would stand up to scrutiny in a court of law. And apparently if you scribble out a mistake it leaves you open to criticism in the future (what were you trying to hide?) so you have to just draw through it with a single line, initial it, and then write the correct version. And loads of stuff like that. (If anyone else is suffering from insomnia they'll be fast asleep by now I bet )

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/02/2009 08:06

Charlotte was badly sick in the night. Only I didn't know about it until 7am . She had turned herself round in the cot so there was sick smeared all over the sheet She's had some milk but not really any breakfast this morning and has done an enormous, half solid, half sloppy poo (sorry if TMI too early in the day.) Hope she's going to be OK as we're meant to be going out for lunch (here)with friends, some of whom we've not seen in 6+ years.

Also, found out yesterday that a friend of hers has chicken pox. We saw him last Friday, not sure when he came out with it, but I saw him at nursery on Tuesday so must have been after that. Does anyone know about incubation times etc? Is Charlotte at much risk? DH does to Seattle tomorrow for a week so it won't be much fun for me if she is ill.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2009 09:29

Incubation times is 3 weeks Jammy, before the spots. When the last spot is crusty, they are no longer contagious. Its just one of those things I'm afraid. Naff all you can do about it, but get it over with.

Its really not a big deal though. Obviously there's the work thing for you, as she won't be in nursery and DH won't be around, but as far as being unwell goes, its not awful. They can be miserable and unhappy, but its itchy.

If she gets it I would strongly advise going to the Drs and getting a mild antihistamine for the itching. It makes all the difference. I think DD1 was about a year when she had it after the boys, and it barely affected her at all. It is meant to be less of a problem the younger they are.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2009 09:30

And sorry to hear that she was ill in the night. It happens, and it doesn't bother them, but when it has happened here I feel dreadful about it.

Hope she is OK.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/02/2009 10:15

Thanks Foxy. SOounds like she could have it coming then, but yes these things are normally better when they are younger.

She's having an enormous nap at the moment. But we're going to have to wake her soon as need to wash the dried vomit out of her hair if we're going out for lunch (nice).

I bought her a 2nd hand charity shop book while I was out this morning, with a spinner to pick what animal you should imitate - waddle like a penguin, hop like a rabbit etc. She's a bit young for the actions atm but I can't wait to see her grow "into it"!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 21/02/2009 10:18

GBS negative i can have my homebirth!

jammy hope DD is feeling better, enjoy your lunch

ria i dont know about DH re stuff at work, but in theory if they know hes on his way in they wont use his things??

Ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2009 12:19

Brilliant news Natty

Ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2009 13:06

Ooh RIA Guess who I saw in RL yesterday?

Gwan! Guess!

Sputnik · 21/02/2009 14:24

Ooh, ooh , bet I know!

Great news Natty

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 21/02/2009 15:33

who foxy?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/02/2009 18:57

It msut have been JC or RH???

Poor jamlet We went off out this morning and she was horribly sick on the motorway. So we pulled in at services (which handily appeared within a minute of her vomming) and changed her clothes (so nobody got to see her new smart skirt, tshirt and cardigan set ) and decided we were nearer the restaurant than home so we would push on and see what happened. A few mins before we got there she was sick again So we planned to pop in and say hello, then for DH to run me & jamlet to the train station and me to take her home. But she really perked up once out of the car, so we ended up staying for lunch and she ate a bit of everything on my plate and had a fab time walking round looking at everyone (especially a little baby at the next table) except we were there far too long for her liking so it did get a bit fraught towards the end. But she met a little boy of about her age and they hugged each other several times like Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy

Hope everyone else has had a nice day?

keepingitRia · 21/02/2009 20:12

but for jamlet

hooray for homebirth natty

ooh, foxy. Mr Ramsey? or God in his North of England guise? (JC) or another one of my embarrassing people. Gary Linekar? I'm assuming it was a man?

I actually had a really weird dream last night about being trapped in a shed at a fish farm, and the plank walkway was collapsing and the fish were jumping out of the water to bite me. The only people around to rescue me were the Top Gear boys, I was absolutely bloody terrified when I woke up

have I missed anyone - hello!

Ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2009 20:16

Yep! JC drove past my house as we were coming out to go to the park.

Face like a sack of spuds!!

keepingitRia · 21/02/2009 20:20

Bedtime for baggins.

Must stay awake - must stay awake - must stay awake...

LoveaDAISYcal · 21/02/2009 20:28

evening all.

Great news about the homebirth Natty

Poor jamlet; I hope it's just a 24 hour thing and she is OK tomorrow.

Never see anyone famous around here...unless the old bloke from from Emmerdale (somebody Pollard??) counts.

I have been doing.....brace yourselves.....housework

We made a huge dent in this place. It's starting to look like a house again.

I'm trying to curb my MNetting, as I have RSI in my arm and shoulder from using the mousepad

Bumble is settled in bed already. This is a major achievement as he is usually in his chair downstairs until I go to bed.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/02/2009 20:33

Sorry Natty, I was so wound up with jamlet's illness and stuff I forgot to congratulate you on getting the homebirth .

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 21/02/2009 21:00

thats ok jammy. when ur kids are sick it does fill up your mind. im the same.

thanks for the congrats everyone, i am ever so pleased. my stress levels have gone right down and i am actually (shock horror ) excited about the birth.

hope everyone is well, ive got another migrane and am going to bed.

ta ta girls!!!

Sputnik · 21/02/2009 21:36

Ria, I wouldn't let Freud get hold of that dream of yours!

keepingitRia · 21/02/2009 21:50

sputnik. It was frightening enough without the Top Gear element! (I have a bit of a thing about feathers/fins/scales)

It means I am MAD!!!

Hi daisy. Housework moving up the agenda here. I am about to start cleaning a cupboard we were given, then I will sort out the DVDs/VHSs to go in it. Such an exciting Saturday night. But hopefully I willl find Shirley Valentine quite early on for a bit of company

keepingitRia · 21/02/2009 22:36

oh bugger, I think the cupoboard won't work. It is about 2 ft higher than our current TV cupboard. Arse. And I've cleaned it now.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/02/2009 10:09

Sorry about the cupboard, Ria.

Just taken DH to the station to set him on his way to Seattle. Feel a bit deflated now And jamlet has been listless all morning, not herself at all. And she had a particularly horrid nappy earlier.

LittleMissNorty · 22/02/2009 11:38

Morning

Jammy, sorry to hear about Jamlet....we're just getting over something similar....its no fun...especially when you have to deal with it on your own. I got through so much alcohol gel last week as I was desperate not to pass it onto DS (so far so good there - fingers crossed).

Sorry for being thick (sleep deprivation), but who is JC?

Very re housework Daisy....very little being done here! Going to keep my "new baby" cards up for a while yet, cos I can't be bothered to dust

Good news re HB Natty . I thought GBS tests were done after 37 weeks though as it can come and go.....do you have to have it done later on as well?

really must get off my arse and do something....difficult to motivate myself when both DCs are asleep and the house is peaceful though (DD cried at the bottom of the stairs at 9.30am asking to go back tobed )

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 22/02/2009 13:02

ellen had sickness bug last night, so apologies for my disapearance!

shes ok again now, same as tom what a funny bug.
just waiting for me to get it now as ellen threw up on me twice. llooovverrllly
