LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 21:05

Yep - I do it too, I'm just going to get you a drink of juice, Do you want some juice "mummm" ok well I'm just going in the kitchen and i'll be right back (LEAVE ROOM) ARGHGHH mummmmm,
It's ok I'm just in kitchen, wait there.
Mummm, mummm, SCREAM, mummm.

Its horrid.

simpson · 03/02/2009 21:09

And what makes me feel bad is when she is in bed there is a big and I mean big sigh of relief

I should not be wishing her life away

madmouse · 03/02/2009 21:09

Lucky try saying byebye back in a minute when you go to the loo, she will soon learn that you do come back.

When she is screaming in the front room and you are in the kitchen walk in, say 'hey chuck, you're alright really' or whatever you would say in your own words, then leave again without picking her up or responding to her tantrum. It will not be forever, she will soon learn that you come back and that she sometimes has to be by herself. A bit like controlled crying really. It is how Nathan learned that it is ok to be alone in your cot and sleep by yourself.

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 21:12

MM we do that but I will keep going. There must be a way for her to understand that we are coming back - I just dont know what that way is. I keep repeating "this too shall pass" but this evening I found myself saying it rather loudly while breathing like I did in labour!

Simps - Yes I sigh, I sigh audibly its that bad sometimes. Today I actually said goodnight A, love ya. walked out the room and went thank god thats done, wheres the wine! Felt guilty as hell.

Lilyloo · 03/02/2009 21:14

Your right MM.

Right something really contraversial here..

I think it's really hard to get that peace when your a sahm. I do think you become so attuned to hearing the moaning you give in for an easy life as it's 24/7.

I miss the desperation to see dc like i had when i was at work. Does that sound awful ?
I feel like Simpson says thank god for bedtime.
that is really awful isn't it.

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 21:16

Lily _ its not awful cos I feel like that as wel. DP keeps saying how tired he is and blah blah and I can't help but think that he's got an easy life even though I could if I wanted to sit down on the sofa for most of the day. Its just the wingeing is soooo tireing and frustrating.

simpson · 03/02/2009 21:18

Lilyloo - think its just us being human.

When we were at work we got scheduled breaks for lunch etc, could go for a wee in peace without baby clinging to leg or 3yr old wanting to "watch"

I have cooked 3 meals today (and washed up in between) and not one for them was for me. Grrr.

madmouse · 03/02/2009 21:19

Listen Simpson, Lily and Lucky. Doesn't the fact that that all three of you feel it tell you something? Like, that it is normal???

Oldest cliche in the book 'Bringing up children is rewarding but hard work'

I must say I am happy to work part time. I think I am a better mum for it.

But I too sigh when Nathan is asleep, because it gives me some time for myself, some time to think my own thoughts.

When that research came out that it is better for babies to face mummy in the pushchair I thought no way, the walks are when i get to do some daydreaming, sermon preparing, aimless thinking, making mental to do lists. I think it is all normal!

Gingeme · 03/02/2009 21:20

Oh my you ladies can chat .
Before I forget Simpson its about a 10 min walk from the station, if that Do you need more directions?
Yes I have a terrible 2 and a terrible one here too The three boys were all in there room this afternoon and I walked in to find Edward had put his toy cooker next to his bed so George could climb on to it so they could both bounce on the bed Edwards favourite word is 'no' at the moment though I caught him say another new word today too 'shit' he has got that from DH I might add
When I pick George up now he somehow does a 360 degrees turn and I have nearly dropped him a couple of times. Edward is doing the sitting on the floor and not budging thing now which he did in the middle of a busy Asda this morning. Aaaaaagghhhh kids ......
Right shower time then off to bed me thinks.
Night alll xxx

Lilyloo · 03/02/2009 21:20

Maybe too awful to post out of here then!

Don't get me wrong the work side has it's draw backs too and i don't miss them but didn't think i would find being a sahm so tough either

OP posts:
Lilyloo · 03/02/2009 21:24

Gingeme thanks for my first laught today LMAO at George new word!!!

MM again at the buggy never thought of it like that So we are 'normal' then

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 21:28

Lily - Most definatly if you'd dared to say that out in MN land you would have got attacked!! lol.

I DO NOT want to go to work, I want to be there for DD 24/7 if she needs me but I would like her to be able to cope on her own for abit too!!

I WANT IT BOTH WAYS DAMMIT! lol

Lol at George's new word and at being able to bounce on the bed!! At least he's being nice to his little bro and helping him out

simpson · 03/02/2009 21:28

Lilyloo - I agree with you. I do like being at home with them on the whole but it is tough! Much tougher than Ithought it would be...

Think DD would really benefit from going to a private nursery for a day or two a week but she will have to wait till DS at school and me working...

Also not looking forward to doing the morning rush/drop off to school.

That reminds me of DS's corker of a line the other week. DD got a habit of pooing at 12.30 just when we need to leave house to take DS to pre school. DS said "mummy, molly is naughty to poo and make me late, we will have to plug her up!"

Ginge - Yes I need instructions from the station please!! FB me!! What time are we saying?

LuckySalem · 03/02/2009 21:31

LMAO at your DS simps! Out of the mouths of babes!!

madmouse · 03/02/2009 21:44

oh simpson that is so funny. Please ask him for suggestions how and report back? Please

Gingeme · 03/02/2009 22:10

thats so funny Simpson.

Gingeme · 03/02/2009 22:16

I have left a message for you on facebook now. I hope I have explained the directions ok. xx

JustKeepSwimming · 04/02/2009 07:25

Simpson - PMSL at your ds

Gingeme - sure my boys will pick up the odd word like that, from me 'bugger' was repeated perfectly last week x lots!

Listen, it must be totally normal re the whole sahm/wm thing.
On monday when i ended up 'working' from home as the computers in the office crashed, i could have gone to get the boys at any time. when did i get them? 5pm as normal. I wanted my 'me-time' more than i wanted to see them. if that makes me a terrible mother, well then i am. i got lots of useful things done that wouldn't have been possible/easy with them both around and they had fun at nursery.
I wouldn't like to work full-time and miss out on them all week - but i wouldn't like to work f-t as i don't think my brain would function properly anyway
so it's more about me than a judgement call....
my sister works f-t as she LOVES her job, she was never the maternal type and freely admits she'd go mad if she was at home all the time.
different folks, different strokes, or whatever the phrase is.
the people i feel sorry for are those who have to work but don't want to and it's just finances that keep them away from their DC

anyway, enough from me.
boys slept 7-6 (DS1) & 7-.... (DS2)!
i slept 9-4 then on and off until 6. so feeling ok this morning.

going to london later for my big ball, hope it's fun and my dress/shoes/jewellery are ok/suitable.

simpson · 04/02/2009 09:16

Gingeme - got the instructions cheers!! They |look simple enough

JKS - Are you excited about tonight??

DD has done a bit of straining this morning, don't know what that is all about

ATM they are fighting playing nicely with DS's toy cars. Will see how long this lasts...

At least DS is back at school today.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2009 09:28

morning all..

DH has been home and moans about MN time so havent had time to get on... will be better promise.

Lily and Lucky - I know what you mean with work and SAHM. I felt numb going back to work with DS1 but feel so relaxed with my part time job, def could not do f/t for me... I feel like I have the best of both worlds and also have very understanding bosses

JustKeepSwimming · 04/02/2009 09:39

mixedm - my DH sometimes rolls his eyes at my MN time but tbh he plays with his blackberry more! and he bought me the laptop as a present so can't complain if i'm using it
plus, he realises what a support it has been to me, as well as an information service! he's always impressed when i say i've saved money using MN info/codes

i am excited about tonight also nervous as there will be lots of DH work colleagues there (as well as maybe some famous people, eek!) and they will all be far more glamorous than me.
I'm wearing a black, floor length dress. it's got spaghetti straps, a sort of drapey bit at the top and sequins around the top. i bought it years ago in an outlet shop, label says JFM or something so not well known or anything.
my black shoes are falling apart think i've had them for over 10 years!! they only get worn about twice a year, if that but i think i really should have bought new ones for tonight. Hoping the dress will cover them up!

Q1 - if i wear tights, the waistband bit will show through the dress, do you think i'll be ok with knee-highs? and
Q2 - black or see-through (nude) knee highs? have both.
have lots of both given my ineptitude with all things tight-related and sticking my thumbs through them

simpson · 04/02/2009 10:00

JKS - you must post a pic of yourself. Bet you will look very glamourous!!

Personally I would wear black knee highs but don't get to go to many posh dos, so not an expert or anything

Grrr the whinging has started again...just going to stuff her face with toast!!

Have just read about Jade Goody

madmouse · 04/02/2009 10:26

JKS no no no you must wear stockings, knee highs are sooo wrong when you go up stairs or in the wind and people can see them

or bare legs of course

Nathan slept ok, woke at 1.30 covered in wee, leaking nappy grrr but not his fault.

Dh rang to say he has chucked up his breakfast again , told him to take him to child minder anyway and tell her to call me if needed. He did not have a temperature.

Maybe he was very hungry and gobbled too quick or it is the coughing?

Hope he's ok

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/02/2009 11:31

JKS - go bare... if you dress in floor length i dont think you will feel cold or anything...or is it because of the shoes???

Simpson - I had a smear test after my 6 week check and had my coil fitted at the same time, reading things like that makes me glad that I did... seems very likely that she is not going to beat it. Makes me very sad.
I am running the race for life with some friends in May as I really would like a cure found for Cancer, it takes so much life.

JustKeepSwimming · 04/02/2009 11:42

Agree is so sad about J Goody
and for her 2 boys.

Stockings? erm the tops thingies would show through the dress. or do you mean hold ups? don't think i have any.
bare? will i not freeze??? will consider tonight.
(argh could have bought some hold ups as popped out to asda just now.....)

ds2 still sleeping, friend here working so don't have to wake him when i go and get ds1 in a mo wish i had someone here everyday who could henry-sit while i get on with things!

right, best get moving and get car ready....
