Chuffed · 14/05/2005 21:58

Another grape loving machine here too. Have done the bite in half and also quartering. dd helped wash them and put them in the seive the other day too which she enjoyed.
MrsD the whole MMR thing is just scary and we now have dd booked in for measles on 7 July. I want her to have the measles as soon as recommended which at this clinic is 15mths and then will give MMR preschool for Rubella, Mumps.
It is so interesting that so many people do so many different things. I was really lucky at my work so many people had done different things.

any tips for sun protection? ds just won't keep his hat on!

handlemecarefully · 16/05/2005 09:33

Don't forget to cut up your cherry tomatoes as well y'all!

TracyK · 16/05/2005 11:51

don't know which is worse - cherry tomatoes is new favourite - so have to cut them and then the seeds end up all down ds top/trousers!

handlemecarefully · 16/05/2005 11:56

Wish mine would eat cherry tomatoes and grapes and things. He seems to prefer garden worms - caught him hoovering one up like spaghetti the other day.

Fennel · 16/05/2005 11:59

HMC at least worms aren't fat and round, you can be grateful he's not eating slugs - they would need cutting up in case he choked

the hard things to cut up are things like marbles and geomag balls - which are in many corners of our house and dd3 of course makes a beeline for such things.

Fennel · 16/05/2005 12:00

traceyk, you can get those cot activity centres to hang on the side of a cot, which amuse the toddler but can't be pulled off as easily as a cot mobile

dd3 pulls her cot mobile down every morning but I think it keeps her amused to do it.

Fennel · 16/05/2005 12:01

sorry, I meant Lucyjones on the cot mobile question

MrsDoolittle · 16/05/2005 16:48

HMC.
Mine eats dog biscuits, I've given up sweeping them out of her mouth

dolbear · 16/05/2005 21:10

polystireen peanuts ! fibre ?

handlemecarefully · 16/05/2005 21:18

Dog biscuits - yuck!

We've also had gerbil food eating here (but its mostly seeds so not too harmful) and digging a finger into a big splodge of bird poo in the patio and tasteing it with a dreamy looking expression on his face (actually was quite worried about potential disease transmission from the last one)

hewlettsdaughter · 16/05/2005 22:24

Mmm, nice.... dd likes cat food (cat has those little dried pellets). No cot mobile here, just 2 or 3 toys in the cot.
TracyK - re sunhats - you need my childminder! Apparently she just tells dd to keep her hat on and she does!

TracyK · 17/05/2005 08:51

Got a hat from gap yesterday - has velcro straps on it - just need the sun now!
ds tried to eat a worm at the weekend but we were watching and stopped him in time. also eats dried dog food here.

Fennel · 17/05/2005 10:23

dd3 sometimes eats cat meat. poor veggie child it's the only meat she has access to

new remedy for early wakenings, we moved dd3's cot into her sisters' bedroom yesterday, by popular demand (they all want to sleep together). They kept her amused this morning so well that DP and I slept in and were late for work. very pleasing

LucyJones · 17/05/2005 10:26

Good idea Fennel about the cot activity thingy It must be so much fun for your 3 to all bein the saem room

hunkermunker · 17/05/2005 19:30

DS still scared of grass, has a brand new molar as of teatime today.

TracyK · 17/05/2005 19:49

I wonder if ds has a tooth coming - he's not eaten much today and is a bit grumpy. Had a major strop when I closed the door to the office (he's not allowed in by dh) - he cried for a solid 20 mins. I just ignored him and read my book. Managed to distract him for 5 mins by a babybel and soon after finishing it he was back at the office door crying to get in.
Little bugger - I just opened the door - anything for peace and quiet - but shh don't tell dh!

handlemecarefully · 17/05/2005 22:31

Hunkermunker,

I think that's awfully endearing and quite sweet that your ds is scared of grass - bless him. Aren't they full of idiosyncracies and individuality these babies!

hunkermunker · 17/05/2005 22:49

Aw, thank you HMC! I was apparently scared of grass too when I was his age. It keeps him on a rug in the middle of the garden And if I sit him on the grass, he lifts his feet up so he's sitting on the tiniest portion of bottom and puts his arms up to me to be picked up immediately!

His current project is trying to take the second ring down off his stacker or second block down of any tower he's built. He's tried everything with the rings - putting a little one on top of a bigger one, a bigger one on top, leaving a gap, turning them upside down - hasn't worked yet, but he's very persistent

TracyK - don't worry, your secret's safe with me Hope the tooth doesn't cause too many probs

handlemecarefully · 17/05/2005 22:57

That's actually quite handy if he stays put on the rug rather than crawling off into the middle distance!

hunkermunker · 17/05/2005 23:03

Totally, HMC! Very handy indeed

TracyK · 18/05/2005 08:25

gosh I wish ds was scared of grass and would stay in one place. He's a little commando and strolls through all my ebds and flowers, picking buds on the way to either eat or put in the washing machine later!

Chuffed · 18/05/2005 09:12

dd loves flower picking too and not scared of grass anymore although when we were back in NZ at Christmas she was terrified of it, if we put her on it she would just cry. We kept trying and I make an effort to take her shoes off when we are on grass so she gets used to it. She is fine now.
Still only 5 teeth here and dd is second eldest but then again I didn't loose my last tooth until I was about 23 so I think slow teeth run in in my side of the family.

dot1 · 18/05/2005 09:15

ds2 has also been caught eating dried cat food (the shame!!) and is now well and truly a toddler - walking more or less all the time and loving it! Still can't eat bloody rice though - which as a family we live on - we tried him again with it last night and he promptly threw up... Don't understand as he manages everything else really well.
