no1 ds's christening is that day too

We've finally got round to booking the caterers (was too hassley doing dd's - am not doing food for 100-150 ppl).

We may try some baby rice tomorrow - well ds can do the trying ;). DO we try it just with milk or do we add something like banana or pureed fruit (called ping fruit in this house cos when it defrosts in microwave it gos ping. Obviously )

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 21:27

would definately go with option A on the Menu VG!!!!

enjoy your film No1, I hope your back keeps on the mend

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 21:28

100-150 people

I suppose you kind of have to invite more people than us considering Mr BitShy's line of work, we can freely ignore all our workmates

ataraxis · 10/01/2009 21:32

back again...

mmmm cheese & wine. Please don't tempt me...

ann - sorry things are tough for you at the mo. Hope you have a better night tonight.

dizzy pics are fab!

  • have been following your good advice and picking ds1 up on what he says. Might take a few days but I think it is beginning to work and he is actually starting to think about the potential impact of what he is saying.

DH was given a keg of beer a couple of days ago and this pm ds2 came in with a big grin on his face saying 'i like daddy's new black beer'. Seems he had managed to get himself a cup, turn on the keg, pour himself some beer, turn off the keg... and then drink the beer! . The boy is unbelievable.

thank you ataraxis LOVING your DS2 and his beer escapades!!!

VG I'm with you but unfortunately my lot would come to the opening of an envelope

his lot won't (thank goodness) when we had DD1 christened in his church in N.I the PIL only invited one set of aunt/uncle from each side (MIL and FIL if that makes sense) the set from MIL wouldn't come as they were decorating their caravan that Sunday and yet my lot flew over from Spain , not sure why am surprised as it was the uncle who came to our wedding in a cream knitted arran jumper

Sibh · 10/01/2009 21:51

Evening all.
I'm on for oatcakes and cheese with a glass of wine I think ...

One of my sisters took my two oldest ones to the cinema today for her little boy's birthday. I was there until they went in and there again when they came out but in between times I got to potter with DD2.

I have a new lipstick, concealer and (caving in after looking at them for months and buying them in the sale) .

DH needs computer. will have to leave you guessing.

Sibh · 10/01/2009 21:57

these bedspreads for the girls' room.

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 22:00

ooohhh they're lovely, very cath kidson!!

Sibh · 10/01/2009 22:00

Now, which bed ladies:
the white one here
or the wooden one here

Can't believe DH is standing here watching me asking you without complaining that I've gone insane .

Will have to surrender the computer now though as he needs to commune with Wordsworth.

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 22:04

hello Mr Sibh - you have a lovely family for which I suppose we should give you some credit

am hankering after white bunks for my girls so I'll go white

ataraxis · 10/01/2009 22:07

I agree - the white ones are lurvely - and will go really well with the bedspreads [smile

dizzy - interesting version of not seeing you tonight

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 22:09

I was just thinking that myself

dizzy - how old is your dd2? can't remember, sorry . She is having going to sleep issues at the mo isn't she? DS2 is being a nightmare - wants someone to sleep with him/scared of monsters/scared of the sparkly things that will get him etc. I can't figure out how much of it is him trying it on and how much is a genuine 'scare'. Any suggestions/tips that work for you?

sambo303 · 10/01/2009 22:14

ooh those bedspreads would go best with white I think, very pretty sibh

bit of a day here, ds needing to be held or would just whinge and cry, no idea what's up. Took over2 hours to settle him, exhausted. On wine and maltesers now

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 22:17

ataraxis she'll be 3 in May and she's a fecking nightmare for sleep. always has been tbh and I've no idea what its all about.

whether or not she wakens up because she's cold or having a wee in her nappy etc I've no idea but she normally has a shouting session at about 4 or 5am which can either end up in soothing or shouting by all parties

dd1 had night terrors and its not the same, this is just tired temper

the trick I used with DD1 for nightmares was a Monsters Inc Sully doll - we put him on her bed and told her that as he was the biggest monster he would scare away all the monsters and bad dreams - I decided to try not belittle her concerns incase they were real but like you was never sure if it was completely genuine

we also have added bonus of daddy being a police man and all monsters being scared of him

ataraxis · 10/01/2009 22:30

ah yes, you have a definite advantage there!
ds2 has the shouts as well - completely in his sleep often but loud enough to wake me up. Similar sort of time. v odd. I think we have a sully toy somewhere - might try it.

if anyone is totally bored, 100 greatest childrens tv progs on e4. taking me back (making me feel old)

ataraxis · 10/01/2009 22:35

but my goodness the presenters are annoying (definitely old)

ataraxis · 10/01/2009 22:37

oh, it was a lie title, only 100-51. the rest tomorrow. think i will manage to give it a miss...

sambo303 · 10/01/2009 22:50

is it one of those progs where they say they are the top 100 chosen by YOU! I've never been asked for my picks, who is choosing these things?

TV so bad tonight dp is watching a man doing joinery - so far he's seen a demo of making your own joinery bench! and as we knew we'd be spending a lot of time indoors with a LO, we got XL Virgin tv - over 100 channels but nowt on!!

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 22:51

this is why I love sky+

sambo303 · 10/01/2009 22:58

erm yes, I persuaded dp we should go for the cheaper Virgin option and do not hear the end of it! sodding 12 month contract before we can switch

dizzydixies · 10/01/2009 23:03

it was his treat after working tonnes of overtime during T in the Park and G8 - he now wants Sky+ HD - so NOT going to happen
