LOL at your Mum getting her daughter's names muddled Sibh. My Dad is the king of this. My name is always preceded by both of my sisters' and the same for them. My brother was always rather pleased that being an only boy he was exempt for this. Not so much now that my Dad has two sons-in-law. The worst thing is that I've started calling him DH/BiL's name first now too!

Hope you're asleep and/or have a good night tonight cyteen.

Stiil v. of all of your meet-up plans for next week...

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 21:28

my dad keeps calling DD3 Daryll funnily enough he can remember DNephews name no problem

sambo303 · 09/01/2009 21:28

bleugh, just tasted some sour breast milk! tested the bottle for ds's last feed as I took it to the creche whilst I went swimming yesterday and it has not survived!! Breastmilk cheese anyone?

sambo303 · 09/01/2009 21:29

Holy Crap! I've just hit the active conversation button and noticed the most recent conception thread was active. I went over and scrolled down to their members list. They have LOADS and many are ttc #2, #3, AND #5! I about fell off my chair.

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 21:34

sambo - yuk!

dizzy - my FIL keeps calling Lana Lara

my mum used to call my brother Hamish (our dog's name)

ts 5?

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 21:38

ataraxis, its taken him nearly 6yrs to get DD1s name right so I suppose I shouldn't expect too much

he also called the dog by one of my girls names and got a swift stern glare for that - at least he had the decency to look sheepish after that one

I suppose though MIL was one of 11 and FIL, wait for it, wait for it 13!!!!![meep]

poppysocks · 09/01/2009 21:45

OMG to all of these huge families. I do like being pregnant, but 12 or 13 times...!

Dizzy - just read in the quality local newspaper that the high school should be sorted by 2012. Good for them all!

ataraxis · 09/01/2009 21:45

Oh - cc, don't have any real suggestions on the mattress (assume you have dealt with it by now) - we use pampers bed mats. Ds2 is pretty good but does have the occasional accident, and they are disposable so great for middle of the night changing (or if you are away from home for the night).

Sainsburys has 1/3 off baby products at the mo for anyone who is interested.

TwilightSurfer · 09/01/2009 21:45

Hey my great-grandmother had 12. She was only sixty when I was born. My other great-grandmother had 12 or 13, I forget. I'm sooo not against big families but OMG!

I remember DH's lovely granny setting me a challange to have as many as she did when I was pg with DD1 - I think I'll leave that record to her - its only polite you know

poppy let me work that out - should be in plenty of time for them all then!! One thing I meant to say the other day was are you remembering that they can leave school earlier in Scotland, they can go to uni after their 5th year if they get the right grades so you've the potential of DD1 announcing at the ripe old age of 17 that she's off (will stop trying to sway you for my own benefits now sorry )

CC we also have the pampers bedmats for under their sheets too - I tried a reusable/washable one but it was a PITA as it kept slipping all over the place and rumpling up under their sheets - not comfy in my book

ataraxis · 09/01/2009 21:49

sazzles can you email me your mobile no for tues? [email protected]. ta

My dad is one of 11. Eek at 13!

Dizzy - I'm in West Cork but we only moved here from England 18 months ago. Before that I've had a great holiday in connemara but otherwise I've either been working in Dublin or lured into spending time with my sisters down here. I'm talking to the Dsis who takes nice breaks tomorrow so I'll ask her where she'd recommend. I know she goes back to Dingle again and again, and we're planning on doing that next summer. I disappeared for a while to spend some time with DH and read about this crowd in the local paper who are looking for people to do holiday lets through them and the tone they took suggested they are very reputable: ireland.sykescottages.co.uk/
If you pick an area, we could find the local paper and send you on a copy with direct lets advertised in it which might work out cheaper.
Must go down to DH now ...

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 21:58

thanks sibh am looking for somewhere not too far from my friend as I'm not sure she'll get the whole week off work and would be nice if she could come back and forwards to see us

all advice gratefully received thank you

Sibh · 09/01/2009 21:59

The teacher's cottage one is the nearest to us and has a snapshot of our town in the pics. The Cahermore is a stone's throw from where my sisters live.

poppysocks · 09/01/2009 22:01

Hmm yes Dizzy, had thought of that one. A v. good friend was persuaded to have not one but two gap years by his parents after an early/Scottish exit from school. As our mortgage won't be paid off until DD1 is 18 [seriously depressing emoticon], we'll def. be bribing her on the gap year front too. Or keeping her down a year.

dizzydixies · 09/01/2009 22:01

I think the drive to yours would be too much though maybe another year when the kids are a bit older and DH will be with us (not bloody likely but nice to think)

shall go and have a nosey right now!
