LadyBuzz · 12/01/2009 13:56

Daisy your wii fit age is less then mine
I have toddler taming but have not looked at it if I am honest as up unitl now my PFB has been just that so Vbab I will get it out and have a read if it is any good I will let you know.
DS1 responded really well to a reward chart ehn potty training so again it is probably worth a go.

LadyBuzz · 12/01/2009 13:57

Daisy meant to say thanks ever so much for the used nappies site I have sold a couple of things already and they have only been on a couple of days.

Hello
Vbab sorry you are still feeling low about things- I hope your chat wil help in the long run.
And both you and LB having problems with DS1. I hope you get a bit of headway soon. I'm sure that positve reinforcement will work,, it may just take time. I know lots of people swear by reward charts.

Dasiy yay.. I think.. on the sleep. This is an improvement, yes? Don't know how you are surviving on so little sleep!

Well we're having fun and games here. DH been to hosp.as now has fluid on good knee and is lying down with leg up. He is falling to bits, not good.

Poor DS has ploppy botty and is home from school. DD1's nappies not fantastic either.

Imi and I are ok, which is something.

pinkali hope E feels better soon.

lol rutho at the misfits meet up. I'm sure I am the worst!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/01/2009 14:34

lol rosa at patting your Wii fit and putting it back

at being "younger" than LadyBuzz

I've have a load of stuff to list on used nappies, but it is such a chore doing all the listings.

sorry for all the poorliness furryT. There's so many bugs flying about at the minute. Bumble and I are still very snotty.

OP posts:
BigFurryStripeyTiger · 12/01/2009 14:40

that's no good, Daisy. IMi still snotty, too and gets very mucussy, ands so coughs, from time to time, but is loads better than she was.

Honestly, I think if I get ill at any point this household is really going to sink into chaos!

At least DH can be on hand to hold the baby- he is much more effective than a bouncy chair!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/01/2009 14:44

bumble just swallows it then occasionally pukes it up.

lol at DH being a bouncy chair. I can empathise with him on sore knees; mine is still sore after my fall before Christmas.

staying well vibes coming your way!

Only caught up on this page - too much to read. I get babybogeys (yes, v. v. satisfying, hana) out with a cotton bud.

routinequeens, please tell me, how do you stop your babies sleeping all day and being up all night!! I mean, do you just get a long stick and keep prodding them whilst you wash up, hang washing out, feed other children? Seriously, any good tips? Got a gym, a mobile, a bouncy chair, a swing chair. Not working.

I've had a better couple of nights, 4 hour gaps - yippeeeeeeeeee. But wouldn't I just love 7 hours. I'm getting greedy now, aren't I ?

FurryT, LOL at 'ploppybotty' . Great expression.

reluctantincubator · 12/01/2009 15:35

bogeys - anyone else got a snot sucker (forgive me if I repeat myself, I can't rmember what I havbe posted and what I havent)

We got one in a general "baby first aid" type kit someone got us as a gift. Its just a pipette with a bulb on the end (like a tiny turkey baster). When wee T got a cold last week we did the saline drops and then used the snot sucker to get the bogeys out. She didn't enjoy it much at the time but it totally cleared her nose out for a few hours and allowed her to get better sleep.

chocolategal · 12/01/2009 15:36

i know it sounds mad hana but after E's early morning feed around 5/6ish he would sleep until 11am ish then be awake the rest of the day and i was starting to feel like i had NO time to myself, whereas now he is awake for a little while in the morning when we can play then he has a nap for an hour when i get do a few things (like have breakfast!) then he has got all my attention and can have playtime again.

ruthosaurus · 12/01/2009 15:54

Lacks, you are obviously insanely fit after your walk this morning! I've been for about a total of 1/2 hour's walking today and just updated my food onto foodfocus - I think it's really going to help me keep an eye on the food I eat and think twice about chocolate (although once I start thinking about it I have v little willpower...).

Must go and cuddle Fin, he is looking all cute and sleepy again. Mind you, he is getting a name for himself at baby massage - he wet 4 nappies while we were there and he whinges when he's wet. I wonder if there is something wrong with his waterworks as he whinges straight away. Or maybe he is just a big wimp and can't stand to have a horrid wet nappy on for more than 2 seconds. Ideas?

Also, has anyone else bfing been prescribed vitamin drops for their baby? My GP has given Fin 0.3mg per day of multivit drops and I don't know if this is okay - I thought breast milk had the lot in anyway, and I do have a v balanced diet most of the time. Plus I have not given them to him for the last 2 days as he was feeling peaky and he seems much improved, although that could be coincidental - there are too many variables. Any experience of this?

ruthosaurus · 12/01/2009 16:00

Bollocks (scuse me) - missed a page!

Hana the Bee is ace - dead compact, v flexible and about half the price of the Chameleon. If you have a Maxicosi Cabriofix car seat you can use that on the frame instead of the normal pushchair bit and you can have the baby lying down in the pushchair. It also faces in as well as out - I love mine (can you tell) and the only thing I don't like is that it doesn't fold incredibly small, but then it is kind of small to start with.

Routine is so that the little swine darling doesn't keep us up til 4 am! I MUST go and wake him...

RI - loving the snotsucker... Ew ew ew! But fun.

I've just had a call from the centre where I go to baby massage - I left my glasses there, arse. Not going back today, it'll have to wait. I only just got back and I'm knacked! Tomorrow will do...

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 12/01/2009 16:40

Rutho I have a bee, too, and love it, as I can talk to DD1 (fed up of talking to the back of her head) and carry Imi in sling, or easily lie the bee flat to put Imi down- if we are having lunch out etc., or when DD1 is walking. Also though not tiny when folded it does fold in one piece. I love it. Didn't like the look of it at first, but it was the only pram that had what I wanted (see above), and now it has really grown on me. I was very cruel, though, and made DH buy the pink one!!. I think he is man enough to carry it off...

Not sure why vitamin drops- did your GP give a reason??Curious

Also, snot I use nasal drops then a cotton bud, also to get the snot out. Sneezes can also be capitalised upon in this regard.

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 12/01/2009 16:42

Sorry my posts are prolly not making a great deal of sense. I am doubling up as a climbing frame

ruthosaurus · 12/01/2009 17:03

Vitamins - I live in an area with a large Asian population and maybe they give multivits to everyone rather than targeting babies at risk of Vit D deficiency. The overdosing on iron explains Fin's constipation, though - apparently those drops contain the RDA, which is insane for a bfing baby with a mum who has a balanced diet. Having now done a bit of internet research I am a bit miffed that my little sausage was recommended something unnecessary that made him feel crappy - I have a great diet (loads of iron from chocolate, see?) - and resent the implication that breast milk is not as good as formula. Talk about mixed messages. I have nothing at all against formula but for the last 9 months medical professionals have been banging on about how "breast is best" and now apparently it's not good enough! Much better for Fin to be overdosed on vits he doesn't need!

Rant rant rant, sorry.

The bee comes in pink? Denied! I endedd up with khaki...

hello all! Calm before the witching hour here Had pinkglow obs and &chocover chez Dozy's gaff this morning, was lovely to catch up, they even minded Tiger for me whilst I picked DS up from nursery! obs* how did dr go this afternoon??

Hana Please be VERY careful going swimming until LO has had all his jabs - we did with DS1 and he ended up with a nasty ear infection, which apparantly is quite common hence why they say wait until after all jabs. Are you thinking of getting a pushchair now????? Thought that was the banned if you were an AP follower

Rutho absolutely NOT necessary to give vit drops if you are BF-ing. That is very bad advise and if i were you, i wuldv stop.

hrllo to everyone else, i am typing whilst feeding!!

Hana the pink hair has now faded and the stripes are now just peroxide blond.
Dozy thanks for tea-morning - was really nice. Nice to meet pinkglow aswell.
Saw Doctor this afternoon. He was old school. Thought M had wind, not reflux. Stop medication (gaviscon and ranitidine)immed. Nothing that can be done for wind apaprt from what I am doing ( he knows already tried colief etc).
Said if bf for 11 weeks, alot of good work already done, so could give up bf.
Suggested introduced solids early. At 4 months - 3-4 weeks away. Give the gut more to digest. Goes against guidelines, but they rae for normal/healthy babies, he says.
A swing, to aid movemment of wind.
(Talking of which Pinkglow, you said your swing was very upright, which make and model is it, please)
And to be cruel to be kind. I.e if nothig wrong with him, once checked everything else, let him cry.

So what do you all think of thta advcie then. Like I said, he was very old school and could have given the same advice in the 50's !

Dozymare · 12/01/2009 19:33

I like "old skool" doctors. Sometimes the advice they give, goes against what is "politically correct" in this day and age, but this is where experience leads in my opinion. It makes sense what he is saying though about M, he IS very, very windy (as we all heard today) and he was the last time. Perhaps this is correct? I would certainly give it a go.

Hana loving your reasoning for getting a buggy . We love camping although haven't been with a new one - I want to do "posh camping" this year seeing as the Euro is so crap and we will not venture to faraway shores until next year(although if anyone is thinking of treating themselves to an exotic holiday, I can highly recommend lots of places with great kids clubs/creches!)

DH and I are more than likely going away for a 3 night, 4 day skiing trip in March WITHOUT THE KIDS Just trying to sort details now.......

Got another 30mins MN-ing time, before DH get's in!!!

coolkat · 12/01/2009 19:39

Obs sorry about your Hypo and that the doc you saw today had no useful solutions.

Furry - Sorry about all the illness's hope everyne has recovered soon.

Heads like a sieve today as I feel so stressed and wound up

Work phoned, did not get job asked about my Matenity rights as described in the book I was given by school - She did not know - WTF this was the HR women I was talking to. So it seems no one knows, so I have called my union for help and advice.

On a brighter note following on from Monkey's prob about plumski taking bottle I expressed this morning for the 1st time - got 6oz in less than 15 mins with a manual pump - is this good?

She only drank 3 of them though so I will try again tomorrow as I need her to start taking a bottle for when I go out eg. I need to take DD1 to see paediatrician on thurs and don't want to take Becca !

Treated myself to 2 new nursing bra's today to celebrate expressing!!

Slept through again last night, but she did not sleep through on sat night but still going ok so why do I feel fed up?

Ceebee74 · 12/01/2009 20:15

Evening - not been able to get on all day as it is the first day I have had both DS's at home with me all day!

Coolkat hope your union can help you - it really does sound like your company have messed up - particularly if the woman from HR doesn't have a clue - I suspect that is why you are fed up - too much other stress going on.

Dozy would def be interested in some recommendations for holidays abroad with a nearly 3 year old and a 6 month old - looking to go in May - somewhere where it will still be hot but in Europe.....

Obs I guess you need to go with your gut instinct - does it feel right to you to follow the doctors advice? If so, go for it.

Vbab/Ladybuzz I am completely with you regarding the behaviour of our eldest DS's. I feel I am taking one step forward and 2 steps backwards with mine! He seemed to have gone back to normal these last couple of weeks until this evening when he reverted to being a little horror again - poked Sam in the eye twice hard enough to make him cry, despite me telling him not to, and then when I stopped him, tried hitting and kicking me - fortunately he was giggling while he was doing it so it wasn't malicious and his hits and kicks were so pathetic, I had to stop myself from laughing! It is just so frustrating as he was lovely this morning - even sat on the sofa holding Sam for an entire episode of Dora (and this is a boy who normally can't sit still for 30 seconds!)

Plus he has started messing about at bedtime/middle of the night again...he started doing that just after Sam was born, it stopped over Christmas but seemed to have restarted again last night I tried the 'back to bed' stuff with him last night at 1am and after about 10 times of him coming into our room and then going back to bed, it became clear it was a game to him so the next time I stayed in bed and just told him to go back to bed - after a couple of times of this, I just ignored him (he hovers in the doorway of our bedroom for some reason rather than come in) and after about 5 minutes, I think he realised that he was stood there like a lemon for no reason and went back to bed I have got one edition of the Baby Whisperer which has a chapter on 'Taming Toddlers' which I read and realised that part of it was our parenting so I have really made an effort to improve...

Anyway, that went on a bit longer than I thought!!

Rutho make the most of F sleeping in the mornings - DS1 used to have his main 2-hour nap from 9-11 and I loved it as it meant I could get ready in peace etc - much preferred it to the after lunch nap which he reverted to at about 18 months!

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 12/01/2009 20:24

Coolkat sorry work is messing you about.re the sleeping- maybe your body is trying to catch up on lost sleep and isn't quite there yet. Before I had children, and I was working to commission I would work all around the clock at certain times during the process, then sleep for a couple of days straight. NOT a practical thing to do, now, unfortunatley.

camping ooh I love camping. We have a very large tent; it even has a built in walk in wardrobe! I think we've had this convo before.. Going to Europe somewhere next year, this year it's back to -hopefully-sunny Cornwall!

Hana - the bee 'functions' do seem a bit fiddley, but given that I can't actually fold my P&T at all myself, and I can at least fold this one, does go in it's favour.

Loved the baby swimming- we did aqua babies- it was in a hydrotherapy pool at local special school- very warm and lovely! Can't fit it in now with school run etc. Can't remember if I went pre-jabs.

Glad the meet-up went well!
