Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yay dog, 3cms is SUPERB! go cervix go (I'm fluffing up my pom poms for you lady)

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 11:12

I think you need to avoid the water til you are 5 as it can slow you down... maybe a walk? I thought the tens would be crap, but I had it on early and boy did I regret it when I didn't slap it straight back on after the bath. I think you don't realise what its doing until you take it off!

largeginandtonic · 09/02/2009 11:15

Hooray DOG, fingers crossed

Hi to everyone else, sorry to those of you struggling. It does get better, let the little things slide and be kind to yourselves.

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 11:17

hello mrs... how is it going with [gulp] 7??!

largeginandtonic · 09/02/2009 11:35

All good FLF

Indie is pretty good and the othres have taken to her well. The morning is a challenge but not as chaotic as you would think.

We have no routine really, she feeds and sleeps adhoc. Mostly sleeping on me or whichever child i grab at the time

How are you?

moosemama · 09/02/2009 11:46

Great news Dog, hope you get to use that pool really soon.

EPPM I really like the Picassos, but DH hates them with a vengance. He really wants a Multipla as they are quirky and a bit different, I like the idea of the extra seat, but hate the interiors of them. We are also looking at Nissan Almera Tinos. Of course we have the added problem of having to be able to fit 3 dogs in the boot as well as 3 kids in the back! Another problem is that our budget doesn't stretch far enough and there seems to be a dirth of available cars for about a 40 mile radius of our house. We only seem to get anything come up in our area if we widen the search to 40-50 miles away. Guess thats the problem with being poor but living in whats generally considered an affluent area!

Elizabeth did really well last night 5hr then 3 1/2 hr gaps between feeds. Unfortunately DH and I have come down with really nasty upset stomachs this morning so although we should be feeling better we are both feeling grotty.

It a bit of a tiz this morning as its DHs birthday on Sunday and I haven't bought him anything yet (well a really nice card, but nothing else). He saw some wireless hifi speakers just before christmas and I was going to buy him those but they are out of stock everywhere and only available for pre-order on the manufacturers website as they have been in such high demand. Think I might have found 1 shop online that has them in stock and have emailed them to see if they can get some to me in time. DH is already in a strop because we are not going out or anything any I'm in trouble because Mum offered to babysit on last Saturday night but I wasn't feeling up to going out.

Oh God! I suppose I need to think of something to buy him from the kids as well!

Elizabeth is going for her hip scan (I had clicky hips) on Wednesday morning this week so I will just have to trawl round the shops in town afterwards until I manage to come up with something.

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 11:55

Good luck with your present hunting moose; you can try hte richer sounds website as they have some good offers on some really fab stuff.

All here too lg&t... Hugo spends his time eating, sleeping and farting. L loves sucking his head and wiping her nose in his hair... I think its love, but not sure (she does the same to me ).

rrrayray · 09/02/2009 12:01

Dog Good luck - sounds REALLY promising, by the time i was 2 (and stretched to 3 like you) i delivered 6 hours later... so fingers massively crossed for you!!

Seem to have sort of stumbled into a routine, 10.30 last feed bed, wakes around 4, and again about 8.30. I'm sure that swaddle blanket helped ALOT as it literally happened overnight. i think she had been twitching and waking herself up before.

Is currently amusing herself in moses basket, Vast array of snuffly noises coming from there, and kicking around like a crazy woman!

missjackson · 09/02/2009 12:13

Ooh, fingers crossed for you dog.... I LOVED my tens machine during labour, but I think it helped because it gave me something to concentrate on, and I liked the idea of slowly ramping up the numbers! But maybe that just shows I am a control freak... I am sure that's what held my labour back actually and made it take so long, I just couldn't stop asking questions and wanting to know how many cm I was, and how long there was left...!

LenniEd no wonder you are feeling a bit desperate with all that on your plate. I was feeling a bit like that about using a dummy - when you're exhausted, having your nipples used as a pacifier is the last thing you need - our baby has been using it for 3 days now and there seems to be no problem with nipple confusion - but he obviously has a really strong sucking reflex and doesn't care what he sucks! We're trying not to overuse it, but frankly if he does get attached to it, then that's a battle for the future.... hopefully you can enlist a friend to help give you some time off - but hard if you are hourly feeding.

My little man has basically been asleep since 2.15am this morning apart from feed at 8am - longest sleep stretches so far, is this normal? He was a nightmare until 2.15 though when he finally did some kind of mega poo and immediately fell asleep....

STILL NO NAME!

Oooh - good luck Dog! Will catch up latr

missjackson · 09/02/2009 18:18

Keep us posted dog!

OK, so this is the name situation... basically the whole way through we both liked the name 'Aneurin' - pronounced a-nei-rin, but would be 'Nye' for short - it's an old Welsh name. You might have heard of a labour politician named Aneurin Bevan who was very involved in setting up the NHS. That's the only Aneurin in the public eye, but we certainly weren't naming the baby after him... Anyway, when LO was born, we both agreed that Nye really suited him, but we wanted to give it a couple of days to settle... OH then went and mentioned we were thinking of Aneurin to his parents. His Mum who is German said that the German relatives would never be able to spell it. And his Dad said that his grandfather and great-gf would 'turn in their graves' to think that he was named after a socialist... since these comments OH is reluctant to commit.. but now I've started thinking of him as Nye. It's a tricky situation... why should I roll over on this? Any thoughts? Really makes me quite at them...

LO crying so must go....

thinking of you dog and really hope you have a wonderful home birth - you've waited long enough for it!

moosemama · 09/02/2009 18:26

MissJ I'm sure my ILs didn't and probably still don't like DS2s name but we didn't choose it for them, we chose it because we liked it and it suited him. You can never please everybody so you may as well please yourselves.

Go Dog!

and again

TREEEEEEEE!!!! WHERE ARE YOU?
I'm starting to get a bit worried now.

stripeywoollenhat · 09/02/2009 18:30

dog, am hoping you are nowhere near a computer because you are too busy having a baby and that now that it's happening it's quick and easy and you'll be back on here before we know where we are with a fabulous birth story

largeginandtonic · 09/02/2009 18:43

Hooray DOG! Hope you are in the pool and about 6cm by now...

MsSparkle name him regardless of unhelpful family comments. I name mine grinning at the thought of my Dad rolling his eyes I told them she might be Tiger Lily before they went on holiday a week before i had her.

The name is lovely

LenniEd · 09/02/2009 19:21

Has anyone looked for tree on the nappy thread?

MissJ - I know that ILs dislike both of our name choices! Don't worry about it, just go with what you want. BTW a friend didn't name their DD1 Lola after negative comments from GPs... guess what her DD2 is called...

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 20:39

Miss J - its a lovely name... I'd go with it; they'll come round. After they get to know him his name won't matter a jot to them. There is no point in regretting it every time you use another name. Its your child after all .

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 20:42

Dog... hoping you've got the little bundle in your arms by now or are very close!!

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 20:49

Am hoping tree is ok, did a quick stalk and there are no feb posts.

fourlittlefeet · 09/02/2009 20:50

maybe real life is actually more pressing than mumsnet .

Feeling quite pleased today as H has put on over a pound since he was born. Glad to know the constant feeding is having an effect beyond mountains of dirty nappies
