pacita - DD always stretches her neck to see the tv! I think it's all the lights and clours. the other day she kept on crying and finally I played the Teletubbies intro on youtube and she just laughed her head off! she absolutely loves it! and she complains as soon as it stops! tellyaddict already... hmm , maybe I am a bad mother... but she looks so happy and interested!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/11/2008 19:43

hopefully - pass the mint aero, it's one of my favourites, yum yum.

debthescot - ds2 sleeps very well in the daytime in his cot. I make sure I pick up on the sleep cue's before it is too late (otherwise he gets overtired and will not sleep unless cuddled), give him a feed, then as he's dropping off I put him in his cot.

If your ds wakes, like others have said, go up to him straight away and re-settle him. You may have to do this a few times for a few days, but it will improve and he will sleep for longer.

Oh, and I make sure his nursery is dark and that he is swaddled (he likes to flail and wake himself up otherwise).

Hope this helps, any questions just shout.

pacita · 14/11/2008 19:44

Sunflower LOL the teletubbies intro! (off to try it right away)

ROFL hopefully!!
When ds was brand brand new I had to admit that the 'meconium' stain on his baby grow was in fact dairy milk!

hopefully · 14/11/2008 19:51

pacita T gets at least one dose of baby einstein per day (25 mins), and he is mesmerised for the entire time! He'll also crane his neck to see what I'm watching. I'm actually going to buy him a mobile with some lights and shapes on tomorrow, in the hope that he'll stare at that as willingly, as I'm worried about creating the world's first 8 week old telly addict...

ILTMIMI I have just discovered mint aeros. They are the best thing in the world!

Poor old T has had part of pretty much every meal/snack I've had since his birth spilt over him. I haven't been able to risk a really hot meal while feeding, since it's safe to assume that some of it will end up on him.

I'm sitting here trying not to get stressed that DP isn't settling T in 'my' way, which usually works at the moment. His way is working, but slower (it did't appear to occur to him that whistling in T's ear may not be entirely relaxing). I shouldn't complain, because at least T is going down, and it's giving me a break.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/11/2008 19:59

I often have to remove the bread crumbs from ds's ear as I often eat my lunch whilst feeding him

Try not to stress about your dp settling T a different way. I often find what works for me doesn't work for dh, but ds is very adaptable and goes down for both of us. They're not doing it wrong, just differently - but god yes it is irritating

hopefully lol at aero.

starlight I have loads of summer clothes which we will never use, do you want them?? my friend swears by her connecta - they're reduced on the website atm

well poor m is finally asleep on my lap - with my thumb in her mouth the thing is, in my head i've been getting annoyed that dh does this to settle her, s saying that he puts the whole lot in and she sucks and sucks for hours, i've just done the side

ninja · 14/11/2008 21:16

well i hope the lack of posts is because you're all having a good friday night.

dh is playing footy then wetting the baby's head tonight (for the ....th time). he's going to see man u playing tomorrow as well, so come sunday i think i'll deserve some mumsnet time without a baby!

hopefully · 14/11/2008 21:36

My goodness, T has been the amazing non sleeping baby this evening. He sat and cooed merrily in his chair for ages when DP gave up on settling him. He finally went down (without too much drama) at 9pm, having been up since 5pm. Think that's the first time he's done something like that without having colic. I'm hoping it will mean he'll be knackered and sleep for a long time after his 10:30 feed!
I felt quite bad, because DP had been trying to settle him for ages (he obviously just wasn't ready to go down) and when I tried after he'd sat in the chair for a while he went straight down, and DP is very depressed!

DebitheScot · 14/11/2008 21:57

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who drops food on baby. I was wondering the other day what the matted lump was in his hair- it was chocolate!

Have just put a very cute photo of ds2 on my profile that I took earlier when he was on dh's legs getting tickled. He was laughing so much, it was so sweet.

ninja · 14/11/2008 22:00

ahhh - lovely photo!

potxola · 15/11/2008 00:10

Pacita remind me where are you from? Yes my dp is British.
How much was the Spanish passport? My dp has to go to London next week . Do you think he can do it in the Consulate or would I have to go because he is not Spanish.
I agree they used to be useless the "funcionarios" (civil servants)in the Consulate.
I don't know anything about blocked ducts. I am sure some of the other mums know.

potxola · 15/11/2008 00:12

Starlight It is the Gauze one, It folds small and it is really light. I have bought the Iris.

foxytocin · 15/11/2008 03:33

Definitely rate the connecta. V. well made and functional. The maker is a v. experienced babywearer. My friend who introduced me to slings swears by them. She has 3 or 4, one is a solarweave.

I used my new Girasol already. v. comfy. It folds down smaller than a didymos or storch because it is slightly thinner which makes it a good wrap but I rate it heavy enough to be v. supportive for a toddler of up to three.

pacita · 15/11/2008 09:10

Morning ladies,

Potxola, I'm from Vitoria, and something tells me you are from the Basque country too?

The Spanish passport was something like £11, not very much at all. You need two passport photos (white background, no shadows, normal expression, mouth closed, facing forward - i took about twenty till i got this baby to comply!), the Libro de Familia and the passport of both parents. Bring also a £5 registered envelope special for sending documents, which you can get in any post office, or they will ask you to go and collect the passport when it's ready.

I don't think the Spanish parent needs to be present if you two are married, because it is stated in the libro de familia. Give them a call at the consulate to make sure though. I found that, much to my surprise, they even pick up the phone these days!!

I took the photos myself, whith him lying on my bed on a white sheet, then sent them to Photobox online, who produce passport pictures for something like a pound plus postage.

On another note, Diego has slept 5 and 4 hours either side of 3. I am ecstatic, but suspect this antibiotic might be making him sleepy. Either that or 3 good naps and constant feedign on the previous days are bearing its fruit.

Either way, I'm not complaining!

OP posts:
hopefully · 15/11/2008 10:09

Pah, we had another 3 hour awake period this morning. I suspect it may be something to do with him not having had a poo for 48 hours. He kept nodding off in my arms and then waking up straining. DP managed to solve it by putting him in his bouncy chair, where he slept for an hour and was then transferred to his cot.
However, he still settled quickly after his 10:30pm feed, so had a good 4 hours.

Who would have thought that the amount of sleep taken by a 2 foot tall person would become the central feature of my life?

potxola · 15/11/2008 10:49

Pacita Yes I am too from the Basque Country, Barakaldo. It is great to know you are from my region.
Many thanks for the info. And for the tip about the photo. I will have a go.

Well done for the achievement, Diego sleeping 5 hrs, that is fantastic!!!!

I feed Lorea longer feeds yesterday and the green nappies are over. I am happy.

The sort of things mums talk about!!!!

Do they really pick up the phone in the Consulate!!!!! THINGS HAVE CHANGE

potxola · 15/11/2008 10:59

Starlight send them an email and tell them you can link with their web. I read in their web that it happens sometimes.
This is a 10% discount code you can used. The owner of the company, Fanny, gave it to me to share with my friends : JYF4W

Good Luck.

You can tell her Susana, that is me, gave you the address. I thin I purchased the last Iris one in size 5

Pidge · 15/11/2008 11:31

Thanks hopefully! We will get there.

A did another great night's sleep, but unfortunately dd2 threw up in her bed, so we didn't get the night we might have had. She seems ok this morning, but dp and I both feeling distinctly odd, so I'm off back to bed to try to shake off whatever bug we're harbouring.

hopefully · 15/11/2008 13:02

I'm such a control freak. I keep wanting to correct DP for playing with t 'wrong'. How tragic am I? Like it's actually possible to entertain an 8 week old incorrectly!

imoscarsmum · 15/11/2008 13:11

ninja sorry not been in touch, having a few stressful days. WILL get in touch soon - deffo interested in cinema at trafford centre.
Not going to manchester meet - wanted to but our evenings are just too bad at moment for me to go (that's our pennance for having a baby who sleeps through the night from 11pm).

Daytime we have angel baby who coos and will sleep on a washing line if needed (figure of speech!), 7pm to 11pm we have the female version of damien. Having full night's sleep is only thing keeping me sane.

pacita · 15/11/2008 13:18

ladies, is anyone planning a London meet?

OP posts:
hopefully · 15/11/2008 14:32

Ooh, a london meet would be fun! I can stay with SIL and have an adventure!
